and most celebrated women to have ever

graced its pages.

I thought this is the perfect time for
me to be a little bit more provocative.

They struck a pose and won gold on their
way to making themselves a household

name.

Never would have done it at that time.

Never in a million years did I think I
would ever do it. I was completely out

of spite when I did Playboy. My
boyfriend cheated on me and he was like,

Playboy.

I'm like, I want him in my photo shoot.

And they're like, we can't do that.

I'm like, do it.

I'm not going to make it.

I didn't know that I could look that
good.

Mom and Dad didn't know that I could
look that naked.

And we'll check in with the most envied
man in America.

I'm a guy who dreamed impossible dreams
and recognized that I am the luckiest

cat on the planet.

So get ready, because Playboy's pictures
are about to come

to life.

like you've never seen before.

Centerfold.

We're going to have a good time tonight.

Just how well-known has Playboy become?

In its 50-plus years of existence, this
entertainment magazine for men has

entertained the subscribers of more than
19 countries.

It's turned out more than 1,000 issues,
featured more than 3,000 women, and

showcased more than 1 million
photographs.

But when you add it all up, the numbers
boil down to one universal fact.

Men only read Playboy for the articles.

I'd like to meet a guy that actually
says he reads it for the articles.

I don't know one guy.

I read Playboy for the articles.

Unbelievable. It's a good excuse. It's
one of those good one-liners.

No, I think that they pick it up for
both the articles and the pictures.

No.

They want to see naked women in tits and
they want to whack off.

That would be naughty now, wouldn't it?

I think women pick up Playboy for the
articles. Men probably never get to the

article.

I would imagine a certain type of man,
you know, reads the articles eventually.

This is new to me.

I think women enjoy looking at the
pictures just as much as guys do.

Well, I've heard the rumor that some
readers only read the magazine for the

article.

There is some suspicion that it is a
combination of the good fiction and

articles and those pictures and the
Playmates of the Month and the Celebrity

Pictorial that have defined both the
magazine and also my life.

A great deal of work goes into capturing
the photos that have made Playboy

famous.

And while the decision to strike a pose
may be different for each woman, the

process is very much the same.

Meet Adrienne Curry, winner of the
reality show America's Next Top Model

and Playboy's newest celebrity
centerfold.

Today, Adrienne visits Playboy Studio
West to pose for the cover of the

February 2006 issue.

It's still way too early for that.

Good morning.

I'm so tired.

I'm going to. I see you're setting up.

Fix me.

Okay. So we're going for Smokey Smokey,
right?

I think Smokey with some silver would be
good.

Okay. Like silver right here on the
inside like a kitty.

I am an avid Playboy reader.

I read Playboy all the time. I have a
subscription online, so I get to look at

all the archives.

I justified my posing just by looking
back at all the supermodels who have

done it, like women who I absolutely
adore, like Cindy Crawford, Angie

Everhart, Jamie Presley. So I didn't
really feel bad.

I figured one of these days, someone's
going to get pictures of me somewhere on

some beach naked, so I might as well get
paid for it before that happens.

I've never seen any pictures like that.

They're very racy yet artistic all at
the same time. It's going to be pretty

cool. I'm nervous.

Are you? Why?

I wasn't nervous about my pictorial. You
know, that's fine, but this is a cover.

I don't want to be nervous when I go up
there.

Woo!

Now. Let's catch up with the most
musical group of celebrity centerfolds

to take that no-look-back leap of faith
into the pages of Playboy magazine.

Some readers failed to recognize the
name Deborah Gibson when she posed for

Playboy in March 2005.

But nobody had forgotten the face.

After all, Debbie Gibson was one of the
most electrifying pop stars of the

1980s.

Playboy came to me at a very young age
because wouldn't that have been

fascinating?

God, I wasn't even wearing high-heeled
shoes. I was barely dating. I was a big

prude. Never would have done it at that
time.

Never in a million years did I think I
would ever do it.

My very first dream as a kid was to be a
Broadway star.

If you would have asked me at five years
old, what do you want to be when you

grow up, it was like, I want to be Liza
Minnelli.

As we all know, Debbie's childhood had
her dancing to a slightly different

tune. No, no, no, no, only in my dreams.

And by the age of 17, Debbie Gibson had
become a pop star.

One day I'm walking down the hall in
school and I'm Deb, and the next day I'm

Debbie Gibson.

Debbie leapt onto the music scene with
1987's Only in My Dreams.

She topped the charts with Foolish Beat,
making her the youngest artist to write,

produce, and perform a number one hit.
And then, in the spring of 1989, Debbie

returned to the top of the charts with
her 80s anthem, Electric Youth.

As the rain atop the music charts gave
way to the

90s emerging Seattle sound, a
21-year-old Debbie Gibson was in need of

a change.

She welcomed the opportunity to play
Eponine in the play Le Miserable, even

if the Broadway cast wasn't quick to
welcome her.

Oh, who does this pop star think she is
coming into our show?

So there was no pop princess makeup and
hair happening. It was a tomboy role, a

real grounded street urchin type thing.

It was a really cool thing, because I
remember the director running up and

down the aisles going, I turned Effin'
Debbie Gibson into Effinine! It was not

how people thought they were going to
come to the theater and see me.

I've gotten to play some of the best
roles you will ever get to play in your

20s or 30s. I've played both Sandy and
Rizzo in Grease, not at the same time.

And last but not least, Sally Bowles in
Cabaret, which was probably my favorite.

Playing Sally Bowles was different for
me because it was such a sexually

aggressive character.

Discovering the sexuality of Sally
Bowles helped open up Debra's own

sexuality and suddenly put a long-time
offer from Playboy into a whole new

light.

Finally, when I was 34 years old, I was
like, hmm, I'm not instantly saying no

to this. Why?

I'm glad I'm in touch with my own growth
as a human being enough to know that

Things change.

Your opinions change.

It just didn't seem like a big deal to
me anymore, and it felt great. It felt

like breaking my own rules in a way.

That's kind of a cool thing to do when
you get into your 30s and you truly

don't care what anyone thinks anymore.

It's very freeing.

In the winter of 2004, Deborah Gibson
posed for her March 2005 Playboy

pictorial, perhaps the most freeing
experience of her life.

We did the shoot at a club here in L.A.

the Argyle Hotel, which is a very, like,
1920s retro old-school Hollywood place.

The first moment walking out of the set
is very scary, but I got over it pretty

quickly because I was like, okay, I
don't want to waste a shot. Let's go.

I had a lot of music playing during the
shoot to really, like, I had music

playing during the shoot that was
specific to every character I wanted to

portray.

So in that cabaret wig, I had, like, the
burlesque thing going.

In the Marilyn-esque shots, I had Frank
Sinatra flying me to the moon. I was,

like, transported to another time and
place.

And even if there's a hint of that in
the photo, I'm happy.

My favorite were the shots that had
atmosphere, that I felt like I was on a

film set or on a theater stage playing a
character.

And that's what I thrived on in the
shoot.

Part of what I wanted to do was show a
real woman's body because I don't weigh

110 pounds.

And everything on me is real. So I
wanted to show all that. So I was kind

of like, does everything look real? I'm
cool with it.

I felt like my picture showed my desire
to truly do this and own it.

And I would love to have some huge
blowups of them.

in my home, because you know what? You
only got a 34-year-old body once in your

life, baby.

From the music video star to the stars
of music videos, one of the hottest

young actresses and most recent
celebrity centerfolds is the star in

Aerosmith's Girls of Summer.

Jamie Lynn Presley modeled throughout
Japan and Italy before returning home to

land cover shots on Teen Magazine and
Stuff.

But in March of 1998, at the age of 20,
Jamie posed for Playboy and proved her

teenage years were long behind her.

Oh, my God.

Think it was Daddy?

From there, Jamie graduated onto the
lead role in Poison Ivy, The New

Seduction, after serving as Drew
Barrymore's body double in the original.

I promised you we'd be home again.

Then, in February of 2004, Jamie sat
down with Playboy one more time.

See, we have a little unfinished
business.

Another video vixen who has recently
dabbled in the pages of Playboy is the

stunning model in the Fountains of Wayne
hit video, Stacey's Mom.

Playboy first invited Rachel Hunter to
pose nude at the age of 18, well before

her nine-year marriage to Rod Stewart,
and her illustrious career as one of the

80s top swimsuit models.

Rachel didn't feel the time was right
and decided to turn Playboy's offer

down.

Almost 20 years later, the 5'11
Auckland-born beauty finally made her

move. She marked her debut with a cover
and a nude pictorial in April of 2004.

It was a Playboy music edition.

Rachel's Playboy appearances have helped
spark a new career.

She's since taken on the part of a New
Age Mrs. Robinson and two-stepped her

way to newfound prominence on Dancing
with the Stars.

You're smiling. How do you feel about
that score?

That's great. It's awesome. I'm looking
forward to, as everyone else has said,

the other dances and stuff.

I think after puking all night, you were
awesome, Richard. Yeah, that was hard

work.

Welcome to the world of fashion, where
there's more to a pretty face than meets

the eye.

Beautiful. A place where ice-cold looks
collide with sexy smiles.

And less is undoubtedly more.

Over the past 50 years, Playboy magazine
has showcased some of the modeling

world's biggest names.

And along the way, timely Playboy
appearances have helped launch a few

women into a stardom of their own.

Like in 1981, when the magazine
introduced the world to a lesser-known

fashion model from Canada named Shannon
Tweed.

I was born on a mink ranch in
Newfoundland, Canada. My father raised

mink, obviously, and my mother was a
former nurse, homemaker, mother of seven

of us, towheads running around.

I myself moved to Ottawa, Toronto,
Montreal. I met the photographer for a

playboy who was scouting in town.

I loved modeling at the time. I was sort
of stagnating there, not being top model

material, and I asked my agent if he
could.

Kept me in meeting.

Shannon wanted to pose for Playboy, so
it instantly became her agent's job to

make that dream a reality.

There was a show shooting in Toronto
called Thrill of a Lifetime where people

would have a chance to live out their
dreams or whatever they always wanted to

do. And then my agent sort of put the
two ideas together.

And we tested for Playboy. We saw some
pictures.

I was rejected three times.

Not good for the show, but eventually I
made it in, and it was thrilling. It was

a thrill of a lifetime.

Within weeks, this once-upon-a-time
print model found herself in the all-too

-familiar position of voguing for the
cameras.

The only difference this time around?

Shannon was striking her pose naked.

My first set of pictures was so
doofus-like.

Just farm themed and like me in a cowboy
hat and I'll pick up Chuck. I'm

thinking, what?

Pick up Chuck?

Whose truck is it?

And there's this sort of virginal look
to it. I mean, if you'd known where I'd

been up till then, you would never have
put me in that setting.

I'd have been into Martello.

I'm wearing a little pink checkered
see-through ruffled dress.

And I've been modeling up to now, but I
never had anybody draw my lips up my

nose before.

It looked like poop.

Do I wipe it off all the time?

Get it?

By the time the November issue hit the
stands in the fall of 1981, a wave of

excitement swept across America.

And the effects were felt back home in
Canada, too.

Big bang.

Exciting.

Exciting for my mom.

She was horrified, horrified, you know,
until people started saying nice things.

The response was good, and people liked
it or accepted it. And she was, yeah,

okay.

Getting used to Shannon in the pages of
Playboy was a good thing, because in

1982, Playboy featured Shannon three
more times. Not only did June mark the

first of her five Playboy covers,
Shannon went on to be named 1982's

Playmate of the Year.

I would like to introduce a very, very
special lady.

I was very happy. When I look at it now,
I look like I'm about 12.

I was an old playmate. I was 24.

That was huge.

You know, surprising those boobs weren't
down on the floor.

Did I say that?

But I'll tell you, you never know where
that camera is. Pretty sure, yeah, you

can't see anything from there. I'm like,
wrong, wrong.

It was so wrong.

So that was kind of interesting.

Shannon's Playboy pictorials helped to
launch an acting career that since made

her a fixture in the public and private
eye.

You son of a bitch.

Come on, Kara, let him up now.

I suppose I don't want to.

Her history of work includes parts on
mid-'80s hits like Days of Our Lives and

Falcon Crest, as well as a leading role
in HBO's jock-centric comedy First

Intent.

Shannon's also made a name for herself
in countless B-movies.

You've had enough fun for one day, don't
you think?

No stranger to the limelight, Shannon
has co-starred in two very high-profile

relationships, one with Playboy's head
honcho himself and another with Kiss's

long-cunged rock and roll legend, Gene
Simmons.

All in all, Shannon can be held
accountable for six Playboy appearances.

In 1991, she posed alongside her younger
sister Tracy.

And most recently, in 1998, she took the
photos she'll never forget.

The last ones. The last ones I did were
the nicest.

It was very amazing.

Hot looking pictures.

I was 40.

They were the best. My body looked the
best. Hair was great.

Everything was great.

I loved that.

And people everywhere continue to love
Shannon.

The mink farmer's daughter whose thrill
of a lifetime has been a dream come true

for Playboy's faithful.

Maybe we should cut the money and split
up right here.

Twenty years before Kim Basinger
catapulted to the top of Hollywood's A

-list, she too was a print model looking
for a way to reinvent her image. As it

turned out, Playboy would help provide
the answer.

In February of 1983, Kim posed nude for
an eight-page Playboy pictorial. Her

long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes
found their way from the backcountry to

the beach.

with the spellbinding photos of Kim
frolicking in the water opened eyes all

across the globe, including those in
Hollywood.

With the turn of a page, Tinseltown had
found its next sexy starlet.

On March 23, 1998, this Georgia native
won Best Supporting Actress for L.A.

Confidential, proving to Hollywood she
was here to stay.

In July of 1988, Playboy magazine
offered a new approach to showcasing

models by revealing its first-ever
pictorials of an already bona fide

modern-day supermodel.

The summer of 1988 would belong to Cindy
Crawford, and ten years later, so too

would the fall.

In October of 1998, the modeling
megastar from DeKalb, Illinois posed for

Playboy once again, this time appearing
in only her mole.

Two years later, and just up the road in
Chicago, Playboy magazine decided to

make a few changes.

As a result, the Gold Coast Mansion was
closed and sold.

Its notorious, if you don't swing, don't
ring, welcome sign was covered up. And

the office's oversized 9-foot letters
that once towered over the Chicago

skyline were removed for good.

But in 1991, a 5-foot-11 bombshell from
Texas made certain that Playboy still

had a place for oversized things.

She's the eccentric celebrity talent
that always entertains. From a high

-profile marriage to a self-titled show,
she's the widowed wonder, who at times

has given a whole new meaning to the
words full-figured model.

I never thought I'd ask this.

What's on it?

In the beginning, Anna Nicole Smith was
a small-town girl in every way.

Jim's Chris Fried Chicken.

That was my first job in a little shack
in Mahea.

That's when my life started, really.

I always wanted to be a movie star, but
after I had my child, I thought, I just

want to be a housewife until I get
married.

At the age of 24, Anna Nicole Smith was
divorced, working part-time, and single

-handedly raising her son, Daniel.

Her dreams of stardom seemed all but
impossible.

That is, until she mailed a handful of
nude Polaroids to Playboy.

Two days later, off to Hollywood.

Anna Nicole's Hollywood dreams came true
in a bed, exactly where Playboy posed

her for her very first shoot.

The setup was on a bed, I know the first
shot was, and on the floor, in rocks,

just all kinds of places.

It took them about 30 minutes to get
that robe off me, and so finally the

robe came off.

You know, I don't think I'm hot, but if
I look at a picture of myself, I'm like,

yeah, that's okay.

But if it's just me, I'm like, ugh, I'm
pathetic.

But when I look at pictures, who's that
girl?

The answer, of course, was Miss May
1992.

That's when Anna Nicole's photos were
unveiled, and the global frenzy began.

The face and body most Americans know is
about to get a lot more exposure.

When the world saw the Playboy magazine,
that was incredible.

It was crazy.

The hometown went nuts.

As it turned out, so did Paul Marciano,
the owner of Guess Gene.

Former waitress turned model. Yes, who
is the hottest model in the world right

now? Paul Marciano saw one of the covers
of Playboy, and I'm like, who's Paul?

The Guess guy. I'm like, what's Guess?

And two weeks later, I'm on billboards
everywhere.

The guest girl.

Anna Nicole became one of the highest
profile print models in campaign

history. And as her fame skyrocketed, so
did public demand.

People wanted to see more of Anna
Nicole.

A lot more.

In June of 1993, Playboy wrangled in
Anna Nicole for her sixth pictorial with

a magazine. This time, the plan was to
clean up her image.

That was a good one. That was the
bathtub one.

I was getting ready for hair and makeup,
and this guy had passed by, and I'm

like, I want him in my photo shoot.

I have to be naked. He has to be naked.

And they're like, oh, we can't do that.
I'm like, do it. I'm not getting naked.

He said he would do it.

It was really exotic, and we were in the
bathtub.

It's the one I won't forget.

Anna Nicole's been busy since her first
Playboy shoot.

She's appeared in films like Hudsucker
Proxy and Naked Gun 33 1 3rd. She holds

four Playboy covers to her credit and
was named Playmate of the Year in 1993.

Hello and welcome. I would like to
introduce Anna Nicole Smith, our 1993

Playmate of the Year.

She's had her own show and become the
poster child for Trim Spa.

Not bad for a small-town girl who jumped
onto a Playboy photo shoot and walked

away a household name.

It's got me all around the world.

I'm flying high right now.

This is my dream come true.

It's one of the most recognized brands
in the world. It's been seen on houses,

planes, nightclubs, parties, television
shows, the internet, even body parts.

But at the end of the day, Playboy and
its famed bunny ears are mastered at one

domain, Playboy magazine.

And that's all thanks to its famous
founder.

What can you say about Hef that hasn't
already been said?

Why is this man smiling?

I think Hef is brilliant. He's just one
of those people that can get away with

anything. But I have six girls.

Where are the other three cameras?

He's an amazing man. He's made an
amazing magazine that has changed lives

of many, many women.

I'm a guy who dreamed impossible dreams,
made them come true beyond anything I

could possibly have imagined, and
recognize that I am the luckiest cat on

the planet.

As a post-war America searched for a new
identity in the early 1950s, it was a

gentleman from Chicago who would rise to
the forefront with one answer.

When we have fun, we try to have fun to
the fullest degree. The same thing is

also true when we work. I thought there
was room for another more sophisticated

magazine for young urban men, and that
was the notion behind the publication

that originally was called Stag Party.

Stag Party was to become the magazine
for men between the ages of 18 and 80.

But just prior to its December 1953
release, the title was abandoned,

leaving the proposed dapper buck emblem
in dire need of a facelift.

It became a rabbit in a tuxedo. The
notion of a rabbit that seemed playful,

a little sexy, and put him in a tuxedo
adds sophistication, and that was the

beginning of the whole concept of
Playboy. I had this notion of creating

the Playmate of the Month, and because I
didn't have any money for photography, I

went to a local calendar company. Now,
one of the calendar pictures that they

had was a nude calendar photo of Adam
Monroe.

When you look back at the history of
Playboy, the first woman you think of

has to be Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn was like one of the first sexual
icons, and yet she always made

everything she did look playful.

Every playmate always kind of loved to
look at the first picture, and Pamela

got to recreate it.

Bitch!

What do you say about Marilyn Monroe?

It was all downhill from there.

What is it about Marilyn Monroe that was
so fascinating even Albert Einstein was

a fan?

I tell you, it's a whole different sex.
She was sexy.

She was talented.

As a matter of fact, I spent three years
at the Sheboygan Conservatory of Music.

And she could excite just about any man
in America, like Yankee star Joe

DiMaggio, Broadway playwright Arthur
Miller, and America's very own

president, JFK.

Marilyn burst onto the Hollywood stage
with her trademark platinum blonde

hairdo in 1952's Monkey Business. But
when Hugh Hefner ran Marilyn's swimsuit

-less photos in Playboy's first issue,
an American icon was born.

This is the cover of issue number one.
She was a budding star with a beautiful

body and not a strip of clothing to
cover it up.

Her comment was, all I had on was the
radio.

And that attitude towards nudity was so
revolutionary that I think it helped to

establish what followed thereafter.

Marilyn's popularity kicked into high
gear, starring in some of cinema's most

classic titles. Gentlemen Prefer
Blondes, The Seven-Year Itch, and Some

Like It Hot.

Not only did Marilyn Monroe become the
major sex star of the 20th century, she

defined the ultimate example of what we
look for in terms of a playmate of the

month. No doubt Marilyn's legacy as the
magazine's first centerfold helped to

write her place in history, but others
would come along to challenge her

mystique, and soon.

In February of 1955, America was bowled
over by a Pennsylvania girl with a body

built for sin.

At a busty 5'5", Jane Mansfield would
become the world's next great playboy

pin-up.

Well, well, well.

All boys together.

What a switch.

Well, she was a sex star.

Yeah, she had those, like, cone boobs.

No Victoria's Secret push-up bra for
those.

She was a classically trained pianist. A
classically trained violinist.

She spoke five languages.

But no matter how you cut it... Jane
Mansfield is remembered as one of

America's first sex icons.

She appeared in each February issue
between 1955

and 1958, on the way to landing movie
roles in Will Success Foil Rock Hunter

and Too Hot to Handle. And you can see
for yourselves why all men describe her

as much too hot to handle.

In 1963, Jane's nude scenes in Promises
Promises spurred the pictorial, The

Nudist Jane Mansfield, a valentine
spread so spicy it set Playboy's record

sales mark and got Hugh Hefner arrested.

Hef's obscenity allegations fell to the
tune of a 7-5 hung jury, but the sex

symbol Jane Mansfield carried on.

Never learn.

Not only was she offered the role of
Ginger Grant on Gilligan's Island, but

the fattish conical brassieres worn by
women at the time were duped. Jane

Mansfield.

Want me to write out the numbers for
you?

On June 29, 1967, Jane was tragically
killed in a car accident while traveling

between Biloxi and New Orleans. Her
sons, Miklos and Zoltan, and her

daughter, Mariska Hargitay, all survived
the crash.

Jane's death became the subject of this
Suzie and the Banshees song, Kiss Them

For Me.

Also, the title of the 1957 film she
starred in opposite Cary Grant.

By the 70s, a brunette beauty from
Northern California proved that it's not

just sex symbols that make the best
pinups.

Barbie Benton was bred to be the perfect
girl next door.

When we get married, how would you like
a little cocker spaniel?

Well, I'd kind of planned on having some
children.

The strange thing is how I'm perceived
all the time.

They think I'm sexy.

I'm not sexy.

I'm just your average girl. Ready? Go! I
was a cheerleader in high school. I am

that girl next door that's always trying
to get everybody rah-rah to samba going.

By the time Barbie Doll and her
sports-sculpted body left home for

college, Barbie's undeniable beauty was
primed to woo the world's most eligible

batching.

I moved to L.A. when I was 18 years old
to go to UCLA, trying to study Spanish

and pre-med. I met Heft very shortly
after I came to Los Angeles.

Welcome to the party. This is my flame,
Barbie Benton. It was a very busy

schedule. So much for the formal
festivities. Everybody dance.

Adding to the mayhem was Barbie and
Heft's flourishing relationship and the

fact that Heft still lived in Chicago's
Gold Coast mansion.

Every Friday I got on a plane to fly to
Chicago to be with Heft Friday,

Saturday, and half of Sunday. Not to
mention that I had to get all my

homework done.

Barbie's method of travel?

Heft's very own DC-9, appropriately
nicknamed the Big Bunny.

I felt terrible about flying on it. He
would send the entire plane from me to

fly to Chicago.

And I remember asking him, how much is
the gas?

And he said, I don't know. If I have to
ask, I can't afford it.

But there's one question Hef never once
hesitated to ask.

In fact, it might be his signature
inquiry.

Hef asks beautiful girls to do Playboy
the first time he meets them. He worked

on me so hard to become a Playmate. He
offered me a special layout, and I

finally gave in.

In July of 1969, Barbie Benton turned
her back on Playboy, and the magazine

couldn't have been happier.

Well, my first experience with Playboy
was not new.

All you saw was my back.

I agreed to a cover. I wasn't in it, I
was on it.

Eight months later, in March of 1970,
Barbie took a stab at her second cover.

But this time around, Barbie wasn't just
on the magazine, she was in it.

I didn't know that I could look that
good.

Mom and Dad didn't know that I could
look that naked.

When it came out, my parents almost
disowned me.

Then my father had a lot of his doctor
friends ask for my autograph on

the copies that they gave him. And I
guess after about 30 people gave him

copies for me to sign, he finally gave
in and said, well, maybe it wasn't so

bad. By the age of 22, Barbie accounted
for three Playboy covers en route to

launching her celebrity career.

She danced on Laugh-In, guest starred on
shows like Fantasy Island and Love Boat,

and became a mainstay on Hee Haw.

Say, Doc, I bet you get a big charge out
of being a doctor.

In 1977, Barbie and Hef decided to split
ways.

Two years later, Barbie married George
Grudeau and started a new life. But in

1985, she did return to her Playboy
roots to shoot her fourth and favorite

pictorial.

That was the one that I shot in Greece.
My husband was on the trip, and in the

picture of somebody massaging me, the
hands are my husband. So whether Hef

likes it or not, he's in there.

Last time we saw Adrienne Curry, she was
undergoing makeup for her upcoming

Playboy cover shoot.

In the 1970s, Playboy tuned in to the
leading ladies of television to find

itself a whole new cast of celebrity
centerfolds.

What they discovered was a Texas
Longhorn-turned-TV star named Farrah

Fox.

what young girl was not a Charlie's
Angels fan, you know? She's great.

I'm feeling a little Farrah right now
with this hair.

So I'm thinking Farrah. I'm channeling
her.

I remember Farrah Fawcett. She looks
really hot.

I think anybody will be able to tell by
looking.

Hollywood was kind to Farrah. She landed
a small role on the TV movie Three's a

Crowd. She wed America's $6 million man,
Lee Majors. And soon after, Farrah burst

into a television stardom of her own as
Jill Monroe on the 1976 breakout hit,

Charlie's Angels.

I'm not afraid of anything.

In her first season as an angel, a
poster of Farrah clad in a seemingly

innocent red bathing suit sold 8 million
copies, thrusting Farrah into the role

of a sex idol.

She left Charlie's Angels after its
first season and immediately resurfaced

in the movie Logan's Run. But two years
later, Farrah agreed to rejoin the

Angels cast by way of guest appearances,
and she timed her December 1978 Playboy

cover to make that announcement.

In December of 1995, at the age of 48,
and almost 20 years after her first

cover, Farrah Fawcett returned to
Playboy's forefront in what instantly

became one of Playboy's most popular

And two years later, in July of 1997,
the veteran celebrity and mother of one

proving that beauty has no age.

After Playboy featured the Lone Star
lady from the movie Three's a Crowd,

they turned their attention to a fellow
70s sex symbol who was making a name for

herself on the hit TV show Three's
Company.

Turn around.

That's when the magazine unveiled some
long-lost photos of the up-and-coming

Suzanne Somers.

I mean, everywhere you look at her,
she's a girl.

Suzanne Somers, I see her a lot. We live
close by to each other.

And every time she sees me, she's like,
hey, dumb blonde. I'm like, hi, dumb

blonde. And then we just walk past.

She's done pretty well for herself.

All my life, people always said, you
look just like Suzanne Somers. And I ran

into her at a party. And it was just
kind of exciting, you know, this person

that you've always been told your whole
life you look like and snort like. And

so it was kind of neat to actually meet
her.

Suzanne started out as a prize model on
a game show hosted by her future

husband, Alan Hamill. She then floated
through commercial spots and bit TV

parts in the 70s before reeling in the
primetime role of Christmas Snow on

1977's Three's Company.

Hi, Patricia Crawford. No, I'm Chrissy
Snow.

Ten years earlier, Suzanne Summers had
posed for Playboy. And now, with her

growing popularity, the magazine was
quick to publish their photos of

Chrissy.

Oh, boy, you really loused up that

Suzanne Somers originally, I think,
tested as a Playmate of the Month and

didn't make it. She then started her
film and television career.

We ran the original test shooting on
her. I think it was when she was doing

the Three's Company television show. And
with that success, she came back again

and did a whole pictorial for us.

As far as I'm concerned, she's already

Television has been flooded with
gorgeous women for decades, and it's not

just the leading ladies of dramas and

God, do you want to know about my life?

Jenny's life growing up, south side
Chicago girl, middle class, maybe a

little lower middle class, played every
sport there was, went to an all-girl

Catholic high school.

Sex was very taboo growing up, which is
why I think they say Catholic girls are

naughtier because they want to know.

I was pretty good, though. I did sneak
out of the window a few times. But

overall, I'd say I'd want a kid like me.
It wasn't until the later years that I

think I became a black sheep.

Yeah.

I ventured out to southern Illinois to
go to college.

Life as a saluki was a lot of fun for
Jenny.

Perhaps too much fun.

I was like any typical college girl. You
know, I was at nickel draft night.

I bartended my way to get through
school. By the end of the second year, I

remember going, what am I doing?

I'm hungover every day.

Finally, I said, I can't do this
anymore. I'm in debt, $20,000.

I need to go home.

I need to try something else.

That's when things started happening.

Jenny decided to chase down her dream.
She wanted to be an actress, and that

meant simply getting noticed.

That's when I took some pictures of
myself, like, next to my garage, because

it was the only white background I knew
of. And they were Polaroid pictures.

They weren't even, like, good. They were
just... I called the Better Business

Bureau and got a list of commercial and
modeling agencies.

I had an appointment, and they wanted me
to bring my modeling book.

My modeling book.

So there's more pictures of me by the
garage.

And the woman opened it up and was
looking at my pages, and her face was

just in utter horror, saying, what are
you doing?

What are you doing? You will never be on
a cover of a magazine.

Go serve beer in a bar because you look
like you should be a bartender.

I kind of did. So I cried and stood
outside downtown Chicago.

It was there on the streets of Chicago
that the answers to Jenny's dreams were

quite literally spelled out for her.

The Playboy building in Chicago,
headquarters is what I call it, had the

most incredible sign on top of the
building. P-L-A-Y-B-O-Y. And I see that

building. I started crossing the street.

And I was like, what am I doing?

But I had nothing to lose.

So I hit the elevator button and went up
to the Playboy floor and walked out the

elevator when the editor stopped me and
asked me if I was there to try to be a

playmate and said, why don't you put on
a bathing suit?

and take some test photos.

Like, oh, my God, I didn't even shave my
legs.

I wasn't planning this. I went back,
took some photos, like, terrified.

And by the time I got home, they called
and said, your month's October.

I crapped myself.

I thought, wow, this is...

My opportunity to pay off my debt, to
get to Los Angeles, and become the

actress I want to become. But how do I
tell my Catholic parents?

Before Jenny came clean with her
parents, she snuck off to California for

her first Playboy shoot.

When I first walked into the offices, I
looked so innocent and pure.

And when I told them of my Catholic
upbringing, Playboy went...

When I was shooting my Miss October
layout, I was so terrified that they

actually came to me and said, if you
don't improve your faces, we're going to

have to eliminate you. Go home and
practice your face.

How do you be sexy in a picture?

Do you think you're trying really hard?

So my faces were like that.

I went home and practiced in the mirror
and practiced in the mirror until I

realized. You don't have to really do
anything.

At 21, with boobs out to hair, you just
go, there you go.

The finished product had the folks at
Playboy smiling.

They knew they had discovered something
special.

They called me and said, do you want to
see a picture? And I said, yeah.

And they went, and I just went, oh my
God,

I'm pretty.

There was no Polaroid next to a garage,
I'll tell you that.

I was really blown away by them.

With October looming around the corner,
Jenny decided to finally deal with her

parents. The week before the issue came
out, I booked my parents on a cruise

with the money.

I didn't tell them. I was young, I was
blonde.

I waved goodbye and thought, oh my God,
they come home, I'm dead.

I'm dead.

Jenny flew to California to roll out her
issue, so she wrote her parents a letter

to fill them in on her newfound fame.

So I call my mom, she's now home, and
she's crying.

And she's saying, at least I have three
more daughters.

And then I just loved it because my mom
is my best friend in the whole world,

and it was like a death in a family.

Sorry, Mom.

Jenny and her mother worked things out
over the course of a couple of weeks,

just in time to tackle another Playboy
predicament. So now I get a phone call

from Gary Cole.

I go in and sit down, and he says,
Jenny, you've been chosen Playmate of

the Year.

And I said, great.

Thank you.

And walked out. And I remember his face
going, wow, she didn't seem that

excited. And I walked out of his room
and went, oh my gosh, he's screaming.

Because if there's a challenge, I'm
going to get it. The problem was, I had

to tell my parents that they have to go
through this all over again.

This time around, Jenny took her parents
to a nice dinner to break the news.

So we're eating our filet mignon, and my
mom's talking and laughing, and she

says, wow.

At least, you know, you didn't get that
year thingy. And it's just over now.

And I said,

why do you say that?

I won Play Me the Year.

And she went, what?

I'd like to thank Hugh Hefner and all
the readers of Playboy magazine for

choosing me as the 1994 Play Me the
Year.

I said, yeah, but mom, listen.

I'm going to pay off all of your bills.
Because we've struggled so hard growing

up. I mean, I watched my mom.

scrape the bottom of her purse.

And it killed me growing up. So I knew
one day I'm going to take all their

bills away, which is exactly what I did.

My first check, I sat them down and
said, bring it.

They put it on the table and I paid
everything off.

It felt so good.

Jenny made a big name for herself at
Playboy, appearing in multiple layouts

in her own Playmate video.

Now it was time to break into
television.

So I looked at my manager's desk and saw
a piece of paper that said, looking for

a female host for a game show on MTV.

I said, I have to. So he called and
said, Playmate of the Year wants to come

into audition.

MTV says, no way we are ever having a
Playmate on this network.

I freaked out. And my manager said, why
don't you go? It's a cattle call. Go in

and see what you can do. I downplayed my
body to try to be myself.

And they asked me for my headshot.

I didn't have one.

I just kind of stutterfold.

So I took a piece of paper and I drew a
stick person and wrote my name and wrote

my phone number and said, here you go.
And I went back 12 times to audition

because I think they were afraid my
clothes were going to accidentally fall

off. Finally, I got the phone call that
said, all right, you got the job. I was

loud, crazy, and picked my nose and I
farted strictly for the fact I wanted to

show people I wasn't just a pretty
pinup.

Jenny accomplished exactly that, and in
1997, her welcome sense of humor on

Singled Out led to her own sketch
variety show on MTV, aptly titled The

Jenny McCarthy Show.

Since then, Jenny starred in and hosted
countless television shows. She's

appeared in movies like Scream 3, Scary
Movie 3, and Basketball.

That's two rooms done.

Even still, Jenny finds the time to keep
things sexy.

I know exactly what you mean.

During the MTV years, I tried so hard to
break just the pinup image and show

people that I can be goofy and real and
funny. And then I realized that I kind

of had to bring it back.

It's good to be sexy.

I think every girl wants to feel desired
and pretty. I think most girls do

Playboy for that reason.

In January of 2005, Playboy gave Jenny
the opportunity to feel desired once

again. So ten years and one child after
her first pictorials, Jenny returned

home to the pages of Playboy. I had to
do something that represented who I was.

which is why I kind of did a little
Elvis honeymoon suite party, a 60s theme

with a pink poodle.

It leaves a lot to your imagination.

So I had to try to find...

a middle ground to who I was because I'm
the pinup that farts.

It's true. I mean, I don't want to be
just sexy at all. That would kill me.

And I don't want to be this, you know,
goody two-shoes, boring.

I really want people to still know that
I dig Playboy and love being a part of

it while I still like cracking up. Good

the unveiling of E! Entertainment's Wild

On in 1997 that dedicated itself to
visiting the most beautiful places in

the world alongside the most beautiful
women in the world.

In 1999, a French-Irish-Portuguese
stunner took on that challenge en route

to becoming the hottest tour guide in
history.

In May of 2001, Brooke Burke ventured to
magnificent Bali for her first shoot

with Playboy magazine.

And she followed that up with an
appearance in November of 2004.

She was one face in a crowd of thousands
at a Canadian football game.

But the second her image was broadcast
on the Jumbotron, LaBotspear immediately

That's when Playboy started knocking on
her door, pleading for photos, and

making the claim that Pam could become
the world's next celebrity B.I.P.

Well, that's what you're here to find
out.

I was completely out of spite when I did
Playboy. I lived in Vancouver, and my

boyfriend cheated on me.

I used to like Playboy, and all these
people used to come up to me and ask me

to be in Playboy, and I always said, no,
no, no, and finally one day I'd look at

them and go, okay.

Pamela packed a bag and jumped on a
plane.

The innocent Canadian was headed to Los
Angeles for the very first time. And my

first plane ride was to L.A.

I got here on Gay Pride Day, and there's
floats going by and men holding hands,

and I called my mom and said, Mom, not
only are there gay people, for real,

They walk around in pink shorts with
handcuffs hanging out of their pockets

and they're holding hands. They're
everywhere. They're everywhere.

Everyone's gay.

I never wore such a makeup until I came
to L.A. So, I mean, it was just like a

whole new experience coming from here
from where I came from.

Having mastered the lessons of La La
Land, Pamela refocused on her original

mission. The time had come to pose for
Playboy.

Well, the first photo shoot I did was to
cover October 89 and I was wearing like

an Oxford jacket and I remember being
horrified because it was... pulled apart

a little bit, and girls were reaching
in, grabbing your breath, and putting

them in different places, and I was
like, oh my God, a girl just touched my

boob.

After a successful cover shoot, Pam
warmed up to the idea of posing totally

nude. We did test shoots and shots with
lingerie, and they'd show you the

Polaroids, and you kind of started
thinking, wow, this looks okay, this

looks okay, I can do this.

A self-assured Pam decided to go for it.
So in February of 1991...

Pam's sophomore shoot captured a lot
more skin.

The first new one, I remember, oh gosh,
jumping around in the fountain, so much

of water, you know, and like stuff stuck
to me and stuff like that. So it was,

you know, it kind of eased me into the
whole nudity thing.

Sometimes I look at things and go, I'm
just shocked that I actually did it. You

know, oiling up my body and like, you
know, greasy and looking in the camera,

you know, with my fingers in my mouth or
whatever. I'm like, what am I thinking?

Who are you?

I'm Bosom Woman.

It's fun though.

The part

of a

Playboy Playmate is one of several
characters Pam has perfected over the

years. In 1991, she nailed down her
first television role as the tool-time

girl on Home Improvement. And by 1992,
Pam took on a double shift as DJ on the

global hit, Baywatch.

My Mercury and Venus is in alignment,
okay? And there's going to be a huge

convergence.

Significant pieces of my entire life are
headed for a crash-collision course. I

can feel it. When I was on Baywatch,
they were furious with me that I did

Playboy. Then they saw what they did for
the show, and all the rest of the girls

on Baywatch ended up doing Playboy.
That's what I call creative marketing.

It was a fight. It was a big scene.

By the end of it, they were begging
Playboy to put their actresses in

Playboy.

Okay, you made your point. Fine.

I still play Baywatch. And I actually
saved my friend. We did one for old

time's sake. I had my friend Liz start
drowning in the water. And I said, we

have a situation.

I gotta go in.

They're harassing that pussy turtle.

BJ! And I saved her, brought her back.
It was hysterical.

You stop harassing that turtle!

And for boyfriends, too, sometimes I'll
jump out of the shower, and they watch

Baby and Sleep, run around the bed in
slow motion, and then get them up and

out. I'm Canadian. I role play.

In slow motion, that takes a lot of hard
work. You have to practice that a lot. I

can still do it. Who was I with the
other day on the beach? Cindy Crawford,

and she was running in slow motion next
to me. I'm like, ha, ha, ha.

No, I'm kidding.

Everybody wants to do it. Everyone's
done it once.

Throughout a career that includes
various TV shows, a cartoon called

Stripperella, and her movie Barbed Wire,
Pam's longest running role has been with

Playboy. Pam currently sports an
unprecedented 11 Playboy covers.

I think my favorite cover is the black
cover. It's just a headshot, and that

was the shoot I did in Saint-Tropez.
That was my favorite shooting because I

love the South of France.

You know, shooting on rooftops and all
those beautiful colors and being in the

boats, and it was just such a great
experience for me.

I knew exactly what I was doing, and I
really enjoyed the experience, and I

enjoy what I'm doing now. Life is short,
and we all end up in the same place, in

the ground, so the way we get there is
the fun part.

The first babe of Baywatch exited the
cast in 1997, leaving the door open for

a Cincinnati girl fresh out of the pages
of Playboy. Beautiful!

They're going to love it!

Carmen Electra is more than just another
pretty face.

She's a multi-talent who's done it all.

She's rapped on a CD, she's kicked off
performances with a Pussycat Doll, and

she's showcased her good side on the
popular kid's show, All That.

Then in 1996, Carmen revealed yet
another side.

She electrified Playboy's May issue.

And later that year, she sang the
showstopper in a Vixen video titled,

Playboy Cheerleader.

With her newfound Playboy success,
Carmen scored a hosting gig on MTV's

Loveline, replaced Jenny McCarthy on
Singled Out, and ultimately landed the

role of a lifeguard on Baywatch.

Hi, I'm Lonnie McKenzie.

In the year 1999, Baywatch moved
production to Oahu to film its new show,

Baywatch Hawaii.

But even with its new lanai look and
tropical location, The recipe for

Baywatch Hawaii's success would fall
into the hands of its California roots.

The show's new star was a young woman
from the California wine country named

Brandi Roderick.

I grew up in Sonoma County, and it's the
wine country, and it's beautiful, and

it's very family-oriented and tree-lined
streets. I mean, no cow tipping or

anything like that.

Acting was something I'd done ever since
I was a little kid.

I just started out from scratch and
worked my way up, and my first acting

job was on 90210.

Did Love Boat, did tons of commercials.

After all the TV shows and sitcoms and
commercials, then I met up with some

friends that were actually playmates and
got to kind of be in that whole world

and saw how the girls were like this
wonderful sorority, happy family.

So I went down and did the test.

I was very nervous, I guess you could
say.

Then we went out and got tequila, and we
did tequila shots and margaritas.

And after that, the photo shoot went
very well.

After Brandy finished her test photos,

Playboy suggested she turn around and
head back home to Northern California.

After all, we're better for Brandy to
shoot her April 2000 centerfold than in

her own backyard.

Well, me being from the wine country,
they did the whole grape thing, the wine

country thing, which was perfect because
that's exactly what I wanted to do.

We had so much fun. I mean, come on. I
felt like Lucy smashing those grapes,

you know. It was just so much fun.

I was squeezing grapes everywhere.

We had a blast. And, you know, I was
back home, so my family was there.

My parents are actually in one of the
pictures. We're doing a little picnic.

Of course, I have clothes on.

But there's a picture of us having a
picnic, my mom, my dad, me and my

brother all in the vineyard. It was fun
having them all in my hometown and

having a good time.

After the photo shoot, Brandy began to
hear the murmurings of naysayers,

suggesting that her upcoming Playboy
appearance would bring her acting career

to an end.

How can I not be an actress after doing
Playboy? You've got Kim Basinger, Farrah

Fawcett, and at that time I think Cindy
Crawford was doing it. You know, I think

that's pretty good company to be in.

Brandi was right. As she awaited the
release of her issue, she was presented

with an opportunity to follow in the
famous footsteps of several celebrities

before her.

Probably a month before my issue was
going to come out, they were having

castings for Baywatch, and they wanted
to find a new character for Baywatch

Hawaii. And so it was like two months of
casting, and then I got the job.

That was a huge pivotal

point in my life, my career, everything,
moving to Hawaii.

It was just an amazing experience. And I
think that it has a lot to do with

Playboy because Baywatch and Playboy had
such a relationship in the past. You've

got Erica Elaniak, who was the very
beginning of Baywatch and who was also a

Playmate. You've got Pamela Anderson,
Tracy Bingham.

There's so many people that were
Playmates or that aren't Playmates but

have been in both, like Carmen Electra.
They go hand in hand. They cross at some

point.

In 2001, Brandi received a call from
Marilyn Grabowski, a longtime Playboy

editor with good news to share.

She was like, how would you like to be
our next Playmate of the Year?

Our Playmate of the Year.

I was so excited. I remember hanging up
the phone and Stacy Kamano, who was on

Baywatch with me, I was jumping up and
down. I was so excited. And I told her,

and she was jumping up and down. I
remember that so specifically, that that

was just such an experience. exciting
moment in my life, definitely.

True.

Adrienne Curry has turned notable
appearances on shows like The Surreal

Life and My Fair Brady into instant
celebrities. And today, her co-star and

fiancé, Christopher Knight, is visiting
Adrienne on the set of her Playboy cover

shoot. Oh!

I like it when Brandi's touching me. I
know.

You know, I met Adrienne naked.

You're awesome!

It's not my place at this point to put
clothes on her.

Lucky me.

This was a goal of hers, to do this.

She also wanted to do a cover.

And that's what's happening, and that's
pretty remarkable.

There's an extreme sense of
professionalism she has with all of her

modeling, and she gets nervous about
living up to the expectations that she

and others may have of the shoot itself.

I'd like to get her up just a little bit
more.

The cut is very hard to work with. We
shot with it during my pictorial.

I mean, it eats you.

There's no firmness, so it's hard to
pose on.

I don't feel like I'm delivering today
on this thing. I like the leaning back

shots, but I'm not feeling it, and I'm
really scared that my pictures are going

to show that.

She can be scattered, but she's always
dead on focus when she's modeling. I

mean, it's what brings out the maximum
focus.

I want eight shots.

One.

One. I feel really bad. I'm not
delivering. For some reason, I'm just

not feeling any of these poses.

We'll find it. That's why we have a day
to do so. We'll check back with Adrienne

again later as production regroups for
the perfect pose.

Playboy has always kept a close watch on
the actresses of Hollywood, and over the

years, that watch has brought the stars
of the silver screen to the pages of

Playboy.

Playboy hit the big time when it snagged
itself the very first Bond girl in

cinema history.

A Swiss-born German goddess by the name
of Ursula Andress.

Who is that?

Oh, Bond girl.

I see her coming out of the water.

And just how sexy and sensuous she would

Gorgeous and one of the most beautiful

Well, Ursula is a very dear friend and
she was the first John Derrick

discovery.

Ursula emerged from the sea as Honey

give me? She's got to be one of the most

gorgeous women to ever walk the earth,
with the cheekbones and the dark hair

and kind of a more sultry European look.

A lot of women that were the big movie
stars were the blonde bombshells. Raquel

Welch really embodied a newer kind of a
movie star look for women at the time. I

see.

Raquel stepped into the Hollywood
limelight at the age of 24, appearing in

projects like McHale's Navy and
Routabout.

en route to her trio of mid-60s hits,
Fantastic Voyage, One Million Years B

.C., and Bedazzled.

As Raquel reigned over the 60s and 70s,
scuba suits and dough-skin bikinis never

looked so good.

I take this case very seriously.

Then in December of 1979, Playboy paid
homage to one of Hollywood's most

celebrated actresses and one of the
decade's most desired women.

Yeah.

In 1979, the same year that Playboy was
tipping its hat to Raquel, a 5'4 starlet

out of Long Beach, California, was
catapulting her second film to the top

of the box office. And in it, this
beautiful blonde actress was scoring

herself a perfect 10. I'll accept that
for now.

That thing is going to work.

I guarantee you that.

Bo Derek is absolutely beautiful.

I mean, who doesn't remember that scene
in 10 when she's running down the beach?

I mean, she was just gorgeous.

I'm a big fan of Bo Derek. I think I
tried to cornrow my hair once. It was

okay. I don't think I'd do it right now.

It worked for me about 10, 5, 7 years
ago, whenever that was.

But I just remember seeing this little
girl going, oh, mommy, please.

My mom saying, no.

Bo was hot as a pistol when she did her
layout, but it let everybody know that

she looked fabulous.

She still does.

When Blake Edwards, 10, shot this
pale-eyed bombshell to superstardom, it

was only a matter of time before John
Derrick had his newest wife posing for

Playboy.

In March of 1980, Bo took her Greyhound
China on a Lake Powell excursion that

Playboy readers will never forget.

By August of the same year, John's
Asian-themed Bo is Back pictorials

proved that she was more than just
another number. Bo was Hollywood's new

face of the 80s.

I believe today is the day I become an
excessively rich little bitch.

You'll still be my friend, Cotton.

That's the only way I can keep my job.

The only way.

Pretty tough way to keep a job.

I am told life is not easy.

September's 1981 issue fell in suit with
Bo's most recent film, Tarzan the Ape

Man, a movie her husband John directed.

And July 1984's photos followed the
mantra of John and Bo's next film

together, Bolero.

Fantastic idea.

Bo's claim on the 80s bordered on
hypnotic, but that's not to say the 90s

carried on without her. In December of
1994, John shot his fifth and final set

of photos with his wife. At age 38, the
incredible beauty who once scored a

perfect 10 had become an 11.

Now that that's behind her. In 1982,
around the time Bo was playing Jane of

the Jungle, a smiley-faced 7-year-old
stole our hearts as Gertie in E.T.

Little did we know this young star would
grow up right before our eyes.

But Drew Barrymore, I'm sure, like, the
guys, you know, seeing her as a little

girl and she's grown up are kind of
excited to see what she's going to look

like underneath her clothes.

Oh, right.

Drew Barrymore is a wild child.

Oh, that's good to me. And she looked
like she was with her friends taking

snapshots. Like, whee, my T-shirt's off.

She had a sexy look when she posed for
Playboy, kind of a pixie-esque look. And

then she went on David Letterman and
flashed him and became all of a sudden a

sex kitten.

We were very fortunate to get Drew, and
I think it was a unique decision on her

part. She comes, of course, from a
remarkable acting lineage that goes back

to the great Barrymores. And she is a
friend who decided to appear in the

magazine.

Then she changed that image, and she's
morphed into this really smart producer

and businesswoman that's developing
films and acting in these terrific

roles.

Smart. Her career goes on and on, and
the extent of her talent continues, I

think, to amaze everybody.

I just want to say goodbye.

There's no goodbye.

Be good.

Yeah.

Playboy magazine has always made itself
home to movie stars and TV icons.

But in 1998, Playboy jumped into the
wide world of sports to feature a two

-time Olympic gold medalist. And in
doing so, they revealed the most

accomplished and most alluring ice
skater of the 1980s.

The first time I realized I probably
have a lot of talent is when I was nine

years old.

Beauty and look for women skaters is a
big part of skating.

I mean, luckily, I was always sort of
comfortable with my body, comfortable

with myself. I loved performing. I loved
flirting with an audience. And it was

just so much part of myself that I
didn't play it.

At the mighty age of 18, Katarina used
every ounce of her natural-born

athleticism to win a gold medal at the
1984 Winter Olympics.

But four years later at the Games in
Calgary, a more sophisticated Katerina

would draw from her flirtatious side in
an attempt to overcome America's

extremely talented Debbie Thomas.

That was definitely a very, very tough
competition because we're both skating

on portraying Carmen, but totally in a
different way. She picked pieces which

was more joyful and more playful, and I
picked the music where it was very

dramatic.

Where I was able to play all the
different facets of her, like being

flirtatious and trying to be sexy.

And then at the end, of course, I get
killed and I'm dead on the ice and I'm

like, oh, I don't know if I win or not.

But luckily I did again.

They were after me for a long, long,
long, long, long, long time.

But at this moment, honestly, I thought,
there's no way. The whole skating family

is all about being an ice princess, and
it's just all so beautiful and so

girlish and everything.

And then 10 years later, it was the
point where I felt I've been just way

too innocent.

Katerina agreed to pose for Playboy on
the back end of a skating exhibition,

but she wanted to keep it a secret.

I didn't want the other skaters to know.
They were just wondering because I was

constantly doing workouts. So I did all
these extra workouts, so I was in great

shape. I wanted it completely away from
skating that had nothing to do with me

as a figure skater, because still,
skating is very much a family-oriented

sport, and I didn't want other moms to
take their children and go, no, no, no,

no, no, we can't watch her.

I wanted them done in a very pure and a
very innocent way. I wanted to be

outdoors. I wanted to be in the sand and
in the water. I mean, it was a little

difficult in the very beginning for me.

At first, we took a little easy. We were
in the water, so I was a little covered,

at least by the water. And the joke of
the day was, so what are we wearing

today? And we go, oh, nothing again. So
it turned out then to be quite fun,

except the shots in the water, like 6
o'clock in the morning, were so cold.

And even thinking about the paycheck
didn't help.

But most of the shot was just a really
nice experience, and I was really happy

with the result.

Katarina's photos covered the December
1998 issue, marking the first time a

major athlete had posed for the
magazine.

and preparing Katerina for a backlash of
criticism.

It turned out that it was the opposite.
After the pictures came out and they

were so beautiful and tasteful, I got so
many compliments. And even out of the

skating world, a lot of people came to
me and they really liked what I did.

And then seeing it in the Christmas
issue and walking through the airport

and seeing other people, how they look
at you and you go, hmm.

It's just completely strange, of course,
when a stranger all of a sudden comes

and says, God, you know, I have your
pictorial and it's... really beautiful

and you're like, and then you disappear.

I mean, the attention and draw was
almost like another Olympic gold medal.

I've been working so hard for all my
Olympic gold medals and I had to take

off my clothes and I got the same
attention.

No sporting event would be complete
without a good crowd and some on-field

action worth watching.

In February of 2000, Playboy featured
itself a female football player of

sorts, and the star of 2004's Super Bowl
halftime lingerie bowl.

Angela Kay Everhart was a bit of a
tomboy growing up in Akron, Ohio, but

luckily, it was only a phase.

Angie grew up as the Firestone Falcon
mascot at Harvey S. Firestone High

School class of 1987, but what a
difference a year makes.

By 1988, the aspiring model, who had
been told redheads don't sell, was

sporting the covers of Elle and Glamour.

and landed a major gig as the rear-end
girl for Levi.

Through all of her modeling success,
Angie kept a promise she had made to her

grandmother. She would never appear
naked.

I don't think you're ready for that.

Then in 1997, the sensual sequel Another
Nine and a Half Weeks hit theaters, and

in it, Angie Everhart appeared nude for
the very first time.

Watch me.

Figuring the film transgression had
already broken her pact with Grandma,

Angie decided to take the next big step.
At the age of 30, she posed completely

nude for Playboy's February 2000 issue.

If you look closely, you'll see a tattoo
on Angie's lower back, proof that the ex

-Fieldhouse Chicken had transcended into
an angel, thanks in part to a broken

promise.

Along the sidelines of any good sporting
event, you'll find a handful of top

-shape athletes.

And if you're lucky, you might spot Lisa
Guerrero.

The world's sexiest sports reporter.

How does that happen?

When I was a little kid, my dad never
told me that women can't be athletes. So

the first thing I wanted to do was be a
quarterback.

Eventually, my sports interest got me a
lot of opportunities on camera as a

sports reporter.

It is never too early to start talking
football.

When I started out, I got national
recognition because I made Dennis Rodman

cry.

Recently, most people recognize me from
either Best Damn Sports Show period on

Fox Sportsnet or Monday Night Football
on ABC.

They were certainly fun. I enjoyed being
on the sidelines on Monday night because

I love football.

And I also enjoyed being on Best Damn
Sports Show because I love a good sports

debate.

These days, Lisa is looking to rekindle
the acting career she jump-started back

in her 20s, about the same time she
lured in her first invitation from

Playboy.

20 years ago, Playboy came to me, and I
said no.

And so every couple of years, Playboy's
asked me to pose for them. It wasn't

right in my 20s. It wasn't right in my
30s. But as a 41-year-old married broad,

I figured, you know, this is the time to
do it. And Playboy said to me, you can

shoot anywhere you want, and you can
meet any photographer that you want.

They said, you know, you can go to
Greece, you can go to Hawaii, you could

go to Paris.

I said, whoa, I want to go to Paris.

My husband wasn't able to go with me
because he was playing baseball, so I

took my manager, Lorraine, my best
friend, Dina, and my mother-in-law.

I can't even cook a proper meal yet for
her son.

How am I going to tell her that I'm
doing Playboy? I said, Stephanie, I'm

going to be doing Playboy.

And there was a long silence, and she
said, does Scott know?

Yes, of course, Scott knows, and he's
supportive.

And her second question was, where are
you going to shoot it?

And I said, Paris.

So she said, can I go?

In September of 2005, Lisa made the trip
to Paris to shoot her photos for

Playboy's 2006 kickoff issue.

I am in the January issue, and then I'm
wearing a gold jacket.

And they're going to try something
really unique using a gold leaf process

within the printing. So there's actually
gold dust and gold leaf both on the

Playboy logo and on the gold jacket that
I'm wearing. It'll be a collector's

edition.

I shot with an all-French crew and a
French photographer in France.

And, of course, they think we in America
are a bunch of prudes because, of

course, they've got naked women all over
the place. It's no big deal. Moulin

Rouge, you know.

So to them, it was very natural and
comfortable.

For me, it was a completely different
experience. I have never posed nude

before. And it was an adventure in being
comfortable in my skin.

As the world enjoys the photos of our
most recent celebrity centerfold, so too

will Lisa's husband, Scott.

He hasn't seen them yet.

He will see the pictures when the
magazine comes out.

And he'll love them. He better.

Adrian Curry's cover shoot has already
taken the better part of a day.

But even with thousands of shots in
hand, the photographers continue to

search for the perfect pose to cover
Playboy's February 2006 issue.

Modeling basically asks from you,
whenever it's very artsy or fashiony,

the way you have to contour your body
and sit there and hold the same pose is

a little excruciating. I mean, I still
say this is the easiest job in the

world. I was a waitress before this.

Basically, this was an amazing
experience.

I'm very happy I was able to do it.

Joining the ranks of legends that have
posed for Playboy is definitely a plot.

You know, it's something I always say.
If anyone's like, ooh, dude, you posed

for Playboy, I'm like, oh, yeah, so did
Stephanie Seymour and Cindy Crawford.

The final shot I expect to be friendly,
sexy, mysterious, and

raunchy, all at the same time.

I definitely want people to open up and
see what's inside because I'm very proud

of my work in there. And I'm very glad
Playboy even decided to print what I've

done because I didn't think they were
going to. It's very racy, but I'm very

glad they have.

As Playboy strives for 100 years of
greatness, its most famous faces of the

past and present help to blaze the path
for the celebrity centerfolds of the

future. I go to the mansion now and
girls come up to me and say, I want to

be like you when I grow up. I'm like,
stop, okay. I never thought that would

happen. It is so strange when somebody
tells me that I am a role model.

I still don't understand it.

I'm always flattered when somebody says
I'm a role model.

People always approach me about that.
You know, young girls or girls that want

to get into the magazine, they're always
asking how they can do it.

Anyone can go, really.

Go down and do your little test shots
and go from there.

I would say to young girls, don't sell
yourself only on your sexuality.

Sell yourself on your personality first.

And if that becomes a part of what you
want to do eventually, great.

Do what you want and be who you are.

And there are people that don't like it
and there are people that like it.

Some people have asked me, like my
friends now, you know, who are pursued

by Playboy, they say, should I do it?
And I'm like, yeah.

And they're like, Pamela, of course you
say yes. I'm like, yeah, everybody

should do everything.

Amen.

Got that off my chest.

Ever since doing Playboy, I look at
those magazines differently, and

I look at them.

with a respect for the people who are
posing in the pictures because you have

to be brave to do it. When you look at
the women who have posed for Playboy,

you look at some of my personal heroes.

I'm pretty blessed to be somebody that
is able to be in that same category now.

I love that people are finally getting
over the taboo-ness. Is that a word? I

don't know, of being naked in Playboy.

People are, I think, finally seeing it
as something really cool and liberating

and classy.

And I hope my boobs don't fall to my
knees so I can keep posing.

I didn't do it to get extra attention
because I had all the attention before

and I didn't do it to take another step
in my career because it's been going

very, very well. It was just a nice step
aside.

There was a completely different
experience, and it took me as a woman

and as a person away from skating, which
was quite nice for a change. It was just

great. And I thought, actually, if I
would have known that this experience is

so good and the reactions are like this,
I should have done it earlier.

I think it's cool for celebrities to do
Playboy because it kind of rounds out

the overall picture of their career.

For young girls who are living in the
Midwest and go, my dream is to be in

Playboy, I think you have to be
emotionally ready to handle what

attention comes with it, because there
is a different kind of attention.

I think for the most part, every girl
that is in Playboy has seen their career

soar after being in Playboy, if it's
somebody that's a celebrity.

A lot of girls think that they're going
to become famous by being a Playmate,

and that doesn't always happen.

I would imagine every doorway that's
opened since has been because of

something I did, you know, in
relationship to Playboy.

It goes back to, I guess, posing in
Playboy.

Well, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't
for Playboy, for sure.

That was a great start for me.

Really good.

The whole getting through that awkward
time of being shy to...

Being a woman and being comfortable with
myself and my own skin, I think they

really, they started a landslide.

Playboy's still a big part of my life. I
mean, it's not like something I've ever

said, okay, now that's over.

But I enjoy working with them, seeing
them, seeing everybody up there, because

it's like family.

You have seven girlfriends now? What's
going on?

How come I'm never a girlfriend?

Kevin's never asked me out. Julian,
Kevin's never asked me out, ever.

Absolutely gave me the connection and
some experience and so much more

to get my ass out here and make it and
make my mom proud, which I wanted to do.

So I'm very grateful for the funny
years.

Playboy from the very beginning has been
a wish book or a dream book.

It is a magazine that speaks to the
hearts and dreams and fantasies of young

men and women too.

The Playboy Bunny represents a lifestyle
that is connected to personal freedom,

political freedom, economic freedom, and
the fact that what this world is really

all about is the fulfillment of dreams.

And it is what separates us from the
lower animals.

It is the dreams and visions that make
life worthwhile, and I think that's what

Playboy is really all about.
