Star Princess is
in the final stages of

a 28-day voyage
exploring the Caribbean,

making two calls at ports

on the east...

...and west sides

of the Caribbean Sea.

This morning, the ship
has dropped anchor in Belize.

Known for its Creole culture
and laid-back vibe,

this tropical paradise
is also home

to the second largest coral reef
in the world,

where around 500 species of fish

share the waters with sea turtles
and sharks.

At present, certainly
not safe for tendering.

Star Princess tried to
dock here on its last visit...

I'd like to get out now
while we know we can.

...but bad weather forced the ship

to change course
for its next destination.

Belize is cancelled.

The guests missed out
on their onshore adventures.

It's a little bit windy.

We're not going river tubing today.

But not this time -
today's glorious weather

means everyone will finally get
to enjoy the beauty of Belize...

So we are now on the...
It's not a tender - it's,

I think, a boat provided by
the Port Authority.

...including Brummie best pals
and travel YouTubers Ronan and Alex.

It's a double decker boat.

It does look rather choppy
out there, but actually,

it's pretty smooth, isn't it, Ronan?

is certainly full of bite.

the new entertainment cast

is just 48 hours away.

By what I've heard from
the cruise director,

it's going to be a full house.

Honestly, life feels like
a big dream, at the moment.

It still hasn't even sunk in yet
that I'm here.

Opening night will be the first time
23-year-old Zahra from Milton Keynes

has taken to
the stage professionally.

The fact that I'm performing

to a paying audience who are here
for actual entertainment,

not just my mum and dad,
or my nan...

...I think is just
the biggest blessing.

Zahra isn't the only newbie.

We understand that you are still
getting your bearings with it,

but try your best to get
the choreography

as full out as you can, OK?

33-year-old Leicestershire
lad Charles may have a decade

of dancing at sea under his belt,

but this is his first time leading
a troupe as cast manager.

I've had some previous training

where I've had to be assistant
cast manager before,

erm, but actually
doing the role itself,

I luckily have the current, er,

outgoing cast manager who's going
to be sticking around

to help me out.

Erm, girls,
just relax your necks a bit more.

Let your head move a bit more,
I would say.

And an added bonus is,
she's also Charles's girlfriend -

28-year-old Kiwi Emma.

One of the things that I have
been doing is sort of sitting in

on their tech rehearsals
and sort of giving notes,

erm, for things that the dance
supervisor may have missed

or maybe stuff that my cast
was doing that they aren't doing.

Just another set of
eyes on the show,

so that then when they eventually
do their premiere,

they, you know, are really putting
out the best thing that they can.

It's nice because we already
spend so much time together,

and so the work aspect
won't take away from

the time that we get together.

I think she's very ready
to have a vacation.

She's told me, she's like, "Can

So we're definitely going through
that together.

For 28-year-old Adam from Dorset,

performing on a cruise ship has
allowed him to live out his dreams.

Travelling is one of
my biggest passions.

I'll get my backpack on

and I'll go around, like,
Asia, or South America.

So to be able to do what I love

and to travel as well, it's like
my two passions have combined.

Hoping to get tanned today.

Cruise ship dancer Cassie
from Kansas also has the travel bug.

The perks of my job are really cool.

You can go downstairs,

there's an excursion book,
you can write your name down,

and the next day,
there's a ticket there,

and you get to see things that
you've seen on TV and it's, like,

"Whoa, like, I'm here
in real life."

And it's really,
really, really great.

But despite being at sea
for four years, today is a first.

This is, like, kind of embarrassing,

but this is my third ship
that's docked in Belize,

and I've never taken
the tender boat out.

Erm...! I've seen it from afar,

but I can finally say
I've been to Belize.

I am a little nervous

two things that in my head
are very dangerous!

So I'm stressed!

And the tour guide isn't exactly
helping with the fear factor.

north of the port of Belize

to an island called Caye Caulker.

It's crazy - like, deep
in Viva rehearsals,

and we're here, like, with sharks.

I'm so excited to have,
like, a full day off in Belize

because usually we have a show,

but the other cast is
taking that over for us, so,

I'm gonna use that extra time
and I'm gonna take it for me.

I feel like I deserve this,

We put in the hard work.

I do feel a little bit guilty,
but I also know that

whenever it comes time to be
the end of their contract,

Whilst the performing pals get ready
to face their fishy fears...

I know it's kind of daunting
to feel like you're right on

the edge and you're really close
but for a lot of the moments,

I've noticed quite a few of you,
like, when you're facing the side,

you kind of want to,
like, give eyes to the front.

Your front is also there.

...it's feedback time
for a nervous new cast.

So try and get out of the habit

of, like, side-eyeing to the front
because if you're facing here,

then you've got all of this
audience to look at as well.

While you're focused on this stage,
there's so much to think about.

You've got entrances, exit,
lights - all that.

And sometimes things can get
forgotten along the way

because everything is, like...

All that information
gets overloaded.

So, notes have to be given

to sort of be, like,
"Hey, don't forget this."

Cos I noticed, Zahra...

...your energy is so intense,
which is great.

It's what it should be.

But take that note,
because I've always,

I've clocked you always facing
the front.

So much to actually remember,
as well as the choreo,

as well as everything else.

I'm not gonna lie, we are kind
of there in our cabins,

reading over our notes,
like, "Argh!"

Er, great job working with
that skirt for the first time.

I think you just need to, like,

just make it a little bit tighter.

New assistant cast manager

24-year-old Mia from Stoke-on-Trent
has been given

a starring role in Viva La Musica,

the show the cast
will perform on opening night.

It's just myself dancing with
all the male cast dancers.

And I was pretty nervous
because we have some

fairly big lifts
in there with the boys.

It's a lot of pressure
because you...

It's all about this
female dancer commanding

the stage with these guys wanting
to be with her.

I'm just so excited
to get it on a stage.

You know, it's one of them moments
that most people, would, like,

dream of - you're on stage

with a load of great males and
getting to be fussed over, like.

All right, shall we go from that
same spot again just quickly?

Viva La Musica may be
the ship's most ambitious

and challenging production,
but it's a cast favourite.

I love the more commercial,
hip-hop, Latin style,

and Viva La Musica is exactly that.

Star Princess is in the final week

of a month-long voyage
sailing the Caribbean.

Today, the ship has dropped anchor
in Belize...

This one's coming! There's

entertainment cast

are enjoying one final fling
before going home.

That is a big fish.

But swimming with sharks
ain't for the faint-hearted.

I am kind of scared of the ocean

even though I work on a cruise ship.

Erm... And we're in their
environment, invading their space.

I want to see them close.
But I don't need them to touch me!

Oh-ho-ho, wow!

INHALES DEEPLY
Oh, my God!

These are actually harmless
nurse sharks -

docile in nature and completely safe

because they do not view humans
as prey.

The water was so clear and
they were... this close to you.

THEY LAUGH
He scared me!

He just scared me as well!

Everyone seems
to be getting along swimmingly.

Oh! Touched my ankle!

In fact, the sharks
and stingrays are

so friendly they've missed
the memo on personal space.

The sharks and rays would, like,

swim through your legs
while you were stood

and you weren't expecting it.

And the sharks
were really sandpaper-like.

And so when they touched my leg,
I'd be like, "Ooh!"

But then like on the contrast,

the rays were really slimy.

So when they touch,
it also made you go, like, "Ooh!"

ALL EXCLAIM

Come stick your heads in the water.

Come check them out.
Come, come, come.

We were nervous before we got in,

but once we got in, we were
like, right, this is sick.

The water is so clear. It's crazy.
You can see straight down.

No, it's so cool.

It actually was a lot more calm
than I expected it to be.

Like, in my head, I'm, like, sharks,

they're, like, attack mode
all the time.

But it was so cool.

And just like being
in the water with them

and they're just
like swimming around,

just, like, living
their normal life.

What an experience.

Wow.
This is so cool.

I think this is the coolest
thing we've done in this contract.

That's true. For sure.

This is amazing.

Definitely getting to swim
with the sharks and rays

is probably THE highlight
of this run, for me.

I mean, nothing can beat
a summer in Dorset.

I hope we see each other again.

I don't like saying goodbye
and I know I have to do it.

stopped saying goodbye

and I just say see you later.

It just makes it slightly easier.

but it makes it easier
to just be, like,

is having all of my best friends

And then also waking up

When you go away on holiday,

I think it's more experiencing
new cultures, as well,

just seeing somewhere different to
where you're from.

And that's one of the things
that I find really interesting.

Well, you certainly don't get
airboats on the canals in Brum.

It went round some high-speed turns
which was fun.

I mean, we just feel like,
you know,

this could be on a James Bond
movie, at times.

We went through
some mangrove tunnels

and it was really pretty
where the mangroves

had just entwined themselves.

And I'd say that's probably
what made it

a little bit more unique.

And the guide's still giving them
a full body workout.

The guy that we had at the front
had so much energy, didn't he?

And he made it so much more fun.

He's clearly enjoying himself.

And it's not over yet.

There was quite a lot of wildlife,

There was loads of birds.

Sadly, no crocodile...

But we saw loads of birds. Yep.

There are other things

but I think that was just quite
a relaxed excursion.

It wasn't too intense.

But like all good reviews,
honesty is always the best policy.

There was this methane coming from
the ground, and the smell is

probably, the best way to describe
it is a rotting egg smell.

Yeah. It was a really
pungent rotting egg smell.

Kind of a... egg...

...like an egg sandwich,
sort of smell.

After a fun-filled day in Belize,

it's time to raise the anchor
and head south to Honduras.

And while the guests relax...

Ah! Oh!
At least we get some sunshine.

I know - finally. I've had way too
many days inside that arena.

...the new entertainers will take
to the stage in just 24 hours.

And Mia has a costume conundrum,
so needs some expert advice.

Is there anything you're
particularly worried about?

I mean, you warned me
about the weight of that skirt!

I put it on and I was like,
"No, this isn't too heavy."

And then the second
I did a turn in it, I was like,

"Oh, sheeze!"
The whole thing goes...

Honestly! Like, it made me feel
like I'd never danced before.

I've had heavy costumes in the past,
but not necessarily like this.

There's a lot of moving around

the stage where it can get
in the way and get tangled.

Yeah.
So, that's made me nervous.

So it's open on the side
so it really swings around a lot.

In this dance,
we wear sort of Latin heels,

and so there's a lot of sort of
tango-esque footwork in it.

And so
as you're doing this footwork,

a lot of the times like your heel
will get caught in the skirt.

There was one time I had to
literally bend down and, like,

take my heel out of it because...
You're kidding!

It just wouldn't get out?

And it took me down with it, so...

You got the take-down.

It was so bad.
Oh, God. Oh, my gosh.

Did I tell you about that one time
that it fell off?

It fell off?

quick-thinking, of making it

look like it was meant to be.
But, yeah, the skirt,

it's got a history of
not wanting to work all the time.

And so as much as I'm nervous,

I just have to work with it
and see where we can get.

I actually say that to myself,

before I went on, I say...

I knew that it was going to happen
at least once.

It only has to happen once,

and then I reinforced it

When we first booked the holiday,
we noticed there was

something called a mini suite,

which gave you access to

and we thought, "Oh, that would be

"a perfect way to experience
the new ship."

It's a nice, gentle rock.

The club is an exclusive area
used by a handful

of guests, with handy

How are you finding ship life?
I feel like honestly, I'm adjusting

so much better than
I thought I'd be. Getting there?

Good. Yeah, I think just being
around, like, everyone

and everyone's so nice
and welcoming. Yeah.

Like the whole team,
you guys, the cast. Yeah.

And I think that's really helped me
feel, like, at home. Calm. Yeah.

Zahra is one of
my fellow British girlies,

so it's been really fun getting
to see how excited she is.

There's times that it's been
a little overwhelming,

but I feel like
she's handled it really well.

Is there anything you're
nervous for?

Erm, the quick change that we do.
Yeah.

I think that's my biggest nerve...
nerve-wracking thing at the moment.

Yes. There are multiple
quick changes in this show,

particularly I think
the quickest one

is the one between myself and Mia.

That is about
a 25-second quick change,

so, that is quite a tough
one to crack.

We have rehearsals.
Yeah. We try and try.

Even if it goes wrong, as we say
it's live theatre. Yeah.

And again, it's one of those moments
that you'll laugh back on after it.

Yeah, exactly.

Mia was so helpful with explaining
what to do,

but it is still a bit
of a tricky one.

I just can't believe

I'm doing my first professional

It's a new day on the Caribbean Sea

and Star Princess
is looking as glamorous as ever.

The ship sailed overnight
from Belize and is now docked

in the tropical island of Roatan
in Honduras...

...which sits just 40 miles off
the coast of the mainland

and is a world where lush jungle
meets laid-back Caribbean charm.

How very Zen.

Right arm is coming over the head.

You're gonna push
down onto that elbow, OK?

And you're gonna sit up nice
and tall.

Just like Caitlin's yoga class.

You'll feel it stretch
down the tricep itself, all right?

The 27-year-old fitness instructor
from Gravesend

has been working on ships
for three years

and has been dating
crew manager Edgar,

from Mexico, for the past year.

We actually met onboard
on our last contract.

It was just a week
after I joined the cruise ship.

I started going to the gym,
and that's where I saw her.

Naturally,
conversations started happening.

So then from there, yeah,
that's when we got together.

And then here we are

all these months
and months and months later.

A shared day off is quite rare
for the couple,

so they're spending
some precious time together.

It's very nice to get away from
the ship when we can, because, er,

especially with Edgar,
when we get away,

I can just see him relax.

Roatan sits on the edge of
the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.

It's home to five species
of marine turtles

and one of the world's largest
groups of whale sharks.

Needless to say...

...Edgar's quickly
in the swing of things.

Edgar is the type of person
that just likes to run into

the water and just swim,

so, I could see he was
in his element.

But his sense of direction
has gone overboard.

He kept bumping into me
and I kept saying,

"Move over that way,"
because he was just floating

and he was obviously looking at
all these things

and he wasn't thinking about
what was around him.

Seems he only has eyes
for the OTHER fish in the sea.

You can see everything.

We saw a lot of fishes.

The starfish.

Not to mention the sunken treasure.

We saw a shipwreck.

That's one of the things
you don't want to see

when you are
working on a cruise ship.

But there was a shipwreck there.
Er, it was... was amazing.

I love doing excursions.

It's just nice to do it with
someone that you love.

It's very nice that me
and Edgar are making memories.

It is important you can
do something like this.

You energise yourself.

You find yourself thinking,

"This is why I love my job."

After all that underwater excitement,

the love birds could do with a rest.

When I'm enjoying this part of

When I first told my family

that I've met someone
and it's starting to get serious

So then they had little discussions

with him and they,
they all loved him.

So, it would be nice
that hopefully at some point soon,

they can meet in person.

We need to start looking into
how we're gonna manage

to go again together on
the next one.

We don't know our next rotation

until closer to the end of
the contract.

So once we know that,
then it's about trying

to request to get on
the same ship again.

And I could tell
that she was so stressed about it.

She told me how she unzips

And it just creates a very

clear pathway
of how I need to do things.

as well, as moral support
to help her with it.

and that's such a rewarding feeling.

This skirt has previously fallen off

of Emma during a performance.

I'm going to do my best just
to keep the costume on.

I feel like there was a moment
that I weren't sure if I, like,

nearly stepped on the skirt,
and it was scary.

It was really scary.

But I was actually really proud
and happy with how it went.

Mia did an awesome job with
the skirt.

You wouldn't have noticed
that it was difficult to work with.

She absolutely rocked it.

At the end of the routine,

I just walk off to the back of
the stage on my own.

And in that moment, just like taking
that deep breath and just,

this is my job and I'm having
the absolute best time.
