We're trying to make sure

It's quite busy because we've got
about 3,900 guests coming with us.

First time on the ship,
so they're getting lost,

they don't know what's working.

So it's a lot of ups and downs,

about a life at sea is the money.

I joined cruise ships
because I was bored.

I was working in hotels before,

so I was like, "Let's try something
different."

I love there's no set schedule.

There's not a set expectation.

It is just anything can happen
at any point.

It's so much fun.

And being in the Caribbean,
where it's sunny,

it's much different from Scotland,

so I enjoy the sun as well.

and I was on a weekend
on a night out in Newcastle,

and, uh, we matched on Tinder.

It's all because of
that drunken night

in Newcastle where I was swiping.

Just for the record, he swiped
first, and then I swiped.

So as soon as I swiped,
it came up with a match.

so it balances out, you know?

Obviously I can't see family at
home, family and friends,

so this is my immediate family.

They've been friends since
they were seven

and are travelling
with their mums, Wendy and Tracy,

to celebrate Harry's 18th birthday.

and we lived basically on
the same road,

so obviously,
whenever they saw each other,

we'd come along as well.

in my room on the PlayStation,

and he just came in, walking in,
sat on my bed,

and had no idea who he was.

And then, yeah,

I'm not really sure what
to explain about them, to be honest.

I mean, they're just great.

far from the hustle and bustle below,

Cornish Commodore Nick Nash
and his team are calmly preparing

this 177,000-tonne giant
for departure in an hour's time.

OK. We're going through a departure
briefing for Port Everglades.

Plan to go at 1500
and we should be on time.

Captaining a cruise ship like this
is a mortal responsibility.

It's not just the navigation,
the safety,

It's dealing with crew members
that have different nationalities.

And we've got passengers
that are here for different reasons.

They're here to have a fantastic
time.

So as captain,
you've got all that responsibility,

and you're still the master of
the vessel.

Five years ago, at just 18,

Third Officer Alice left Sussex
for a life at sea,

and she hasn't looked back since.

This is actually the busy bit.

Coming up shortly,
we're going to start to get

a lot of radio communication
coming in

as we get all the final checks done.

Ready to depart.

The ship's set to sail at 3pm sharp,

but there's a catch.

This is an important announcement
in regards to our safety procedures.

On the first day of the cruise,
as Guest Services Manager,

it's very important that the guests
have visited their muster stations

and they've watched
the safety video,

because we want to make sure all
the guests are safe.

And in case of any emergency,

they know where to go
and what to do.

At least 90% of guests need

to complete safety checks
before the crew can cast off.

So we're currently on 80%.

I became the voice of the
ship during the opening.

When we opened the ship,
I made an announcement,

and one of the executives said,
"Wow, whose voice is that?

"I really like it."

And then they were like,
"OK, that's it.

"You're the voice of the ship."

Your cooperation ensures the safety
of everyone on board.

I have to hold my breath and then...

SHE EXHALES
Cos 4,000 people are listening.

So it's like, "Ah!

Magda starts off very polite,

very politely reminding guests
to head to the muster stations.

And then it gets more

"You have to go to your muster
stations now,

"or we can't leave the port."

Please proceed to your assigned
station immediately

to complete this essential
safety procedure.

So that's a little bit less formal.

It's more like...

"Gotta go now."

And it's not just the guests racing
the clock.

Down on the dock,

the final supplies are being loaded,

around 200 tonnes of food and drink

for a grand voyage around
the Caribbean.

It's down to the wire for Magda...

and we're currently on 89%.

as he waits for that
all-important signal.

After we sail away,
we can then chase the 10%

I was a West End performer
for a number of years.

Performed in shows like

As a relative newbie,
it's a big learning curve, you know?

Firstly, you have to realise
that you don't have weekends.

You don't really have a lot
of private time.

And certainly, as cruise director,

you're walking around the ship,
everyone knows you.

There's no place to escape.

I think that's the hardest bit.

or what it would ultimately become.

So it's been a whirlwind,

but it's been a crazy

Working on a ship is like being

at any one time.

Three or four of them have got
production going on.

There's lighting, there's sound,
there's automation.

It's complete crazy all of the time.

If the guests see that,
then we failed our job.

British performer Adam from Dorset

has been treading the boards at sea
for eight years.

There's a lot of things I actually
love about working on a cruise ship.

One of the things is the variety.

Usually, on jobs on land,
you're doing exactly the same show,

exactly the same performance,
day in, day out,

for months on end.

Whereas on a ship, you have so much
variety in what you're performing.

"And by thunder, here you are."

I love, as well, when you're working
so closely with people

for such a long time,
you do become like family.

Just doing some mid-show laundry.

has been dancing
since she was three years old.

Dancing was my first love,

and it's something that I've carried
with me for my whole life.

We have a lot of room
to not only have fun

but also to explore things

because we have been doing it
for a while.

There's always room to maybe throw
in something a little different.

And it's every bit as dreamy

The crystal clear waters

and over half a mile
of white sandy beaches

make this a perfect place for lazy
lounging and aquatic adventures.

But with the sea this shallow,

the huge ship has
had to anchor offshore...

...and smaller water shuttles,
or tenders,

will be transporting guests to
dry land.

who are prepping a colossal
beach banquet.

We're expecting almost 3,000 guests
on the island.

This is, I think,

I mean, it's my first time on
a private island.

I've got paddle boarding booked,

which is a new experience
for both of us.

Well, I can't swim, and I've never
done paddle boarding before.

But Ross has really convinced me
to do it.

He told me it would be safe
and he would keep me alive.

But I'm still very nervous.

at Princess Cays

in the balmy waters of The Bahamas

for a day in paradise.

With its coral reefs teeming with

and turquoise seas,
it should be an idyllic destination.

But for non-swimmer Vishal,
things are far from ideal,

who's pushing him out of his depth.

I'll say the whole
experience was fun,

but I was hella nervous
the entire time.

I mean, I just could not understand
the concept of

rowing forward to go backward,

time behind me,

trying to keep the boat afloat.

the first formal night,

dress to impress.

There's a great amount
of preparation that goes into it.

For what is a very poignant event,

it's a really big one for us
that we get it right.

The newest vessel in the
Princess Cruises fleet

is continuing its Caribbean journey.

And after a sun-soaked day ashore,

the guests are looking forward to
the evening ahead.

But for birthday boy Harry
and mum Wendy,

it's a chance to look back
and cringe.

as preparations get under way

For a lot of people,

this is a way to kind of mark the
start of the cruise.

Yes, they've been on board
for a day.

They've had a day's worth
of entertainment.

But it's the first formal night.

It's the first night
where everybody dresses up.

And this kind of kick-start their
vacation.

They may be new to cruising,

but when it comes to dressing up,

Ross and Vishal are old pros.
