THE WOMAN WITH NIGHT FEAR (Hirotta Onna we Yoru o Osoreru!)

Female ninja!

Nagisa! Kobue!

Princess!

Hurry!

Princess!

Princess, please run away!

Princess, prepare to die!

The wheel is turning...

Okay, it looks good.

It's connected to this and...

I got shocked!

It works.

Here goes...

I did it!

It's a success!

I've got a big catch!

What's that?

It's a person!

What's wrong?

Get a grip of yourself!

Get a grip of yourself!

Hang in there!

It's gone now...

Don't your shoulders feel lighter?

Yes, I feel better now.

Thank you.

Ryuken, I'll treat you to a drink.

What's this?

What a guy!

While I was working hard, you were...

Will you be quiet?

I found her in the river.

Is she alive? - Don't touch hen

Who is she?

I don't know.

Let me take a look.

He's here again.

Han-sen, this is a gift from me. Please accept it.

Gifts are welcomed.

Don't bother with a guy. There are plenty of women.

Don't pop up where you are not wanted.

Jealousy at your age is very unsightly.

Han-chan, will you take a look here?

He's covered up his wrinkles with powder.

He won't be able to do this for much longer.

What a mean thing to say!

Han-sen, say something!

I'm sorry for the commotion!

Go home to Osaka.

The vassals went searching for her frantically,

and had found out that a young man had saved her downstream.

Yes, I know.

Hanzo?

That young man is a comrade named Ryuken.

And?

It looks like she'll make it.

Princess Yuki is the only daughter of Lord Asano Tsunachika

of the Geishu clan, who died three months ago.

Her mother had died when she was still a child, and...

The only relative she has is her aunt.

Which is you.

She thinks her aunt died in one of the great fires.

Only Otsuki Shuzen, the Edo chief retainer, knows about me.

Do you want me to turn her over to you?

No...

I want you to protect her for the ne>

What?

On the first of ne>

Princess Yuki is supposed to propose an adoption to

His Excellency and receive official approval for succession

of the ZOQOOO-koku Geishu clan.

However, if she meets with an untimely death before then,

then the Asano family bloodline will terminate,

and their fiefs will fall in the custody of the Kishu clan.

As you may know, the Geishu clan have produced salt farms

from early on, and the profits from them are tremendous.

The attack on her yesterday musfve come from Kishu,

who are after those salt farms.

Wait a minute.

I want no part in a family feud.

Hanzo...

I am asking you for your help because they are formidable enemies.

Have her leave as soon as she gets up.

If she dailies, throw her out.

Chief! Princess or not, she is injured.

Can't you let her stay until her injury heals?

No!

Your lives were entrusted to me.

I can't put you in danger over some family feud.

But, chief...!

This belongs to the Koga.

This is what the Narukami group uses...

Are they the ones who attacked the princess?

Ryuken!

What a troublesome woman you've picked up!

The Narukami group will always get their target.

They will find this place very soon.

Do you understand, Ryuken?

The chief of the Narukami group is Ivlitamura Gendo.

He's far from human.

Why didn't you give her the final blow?

Why didn't you bring the princess' head to me?

The Koga clan was divided into 16 groups.

The Narukami group is the most brutal of them all.

They are a group of bloodthirsty wolves.

I'll spare your lives for now.

Make up for the blunder!

Be sure to get her head.

Yes, sir.

I repeat, this is an order from Lord Kishu,

the head of the Tokugawa branch families!

If we succeed, we'll be hired as shogunate's spies.

Which means, the Narukami group will finally see light!

Find Princess Yuki and take her head!

Yes, sir!

She's perspiring a lot...

Who is it?

I am Princess Yuki's guardian, Asaji.

I'm here under Chief Retainer Otsuki's order.

Don't vvorry, I haven't been followed.

Are you Ryuken?

Yeah.

I can't thank you enough!

I was shocked to find out who she is...

Please continue to protect her...

I'm pleading with you for the entire Asano clan.

Princess!

Asaji!

Don't try to get up...

You still have a fever.

Asaji! I'm scared!

His name is Ryuken and he saved you.

Where am l? - At my house.

What am I doing here?

Change into this later. My female friend brought it.

Princess, as lonely as it may be,

please stay here and recuperate.

You must stay safe until your meeting with the shogun.

Wait a minute! She can't stay here, okay?

It is the chief retainefis order.

I have to stay at a place like this?

What a problem. You can't stay here.

SHADOW WARRIORS III

Oh my, is this a callus?

Is it from playing the shamisen?

Okimi, have you seen her before?

Let me take a look. She's beautiful.

I haven't seen her around, though.

This is beautiful.

It's not complete yet.

When it's filed, it'll be even prettier.

It's ready to eat!

This is awful! It's hard!

Add water and sakA© to it, then it'll soften up.

Even a princess knows hovv to cook rice gruel?

Hovv is it?

Delicious!

Probably because it's something different...

So you like it?

What is that sound?

There's a festival at Hashimoto Shrine tomorrow.

You look a lot better.

Ryuken, can I have a word with you?

The Narukami group are loitering around here.

Is that true?

What are you going to do?

If the chief finds out, he'll be angry.

A princess of a 200,000 koku clan, huh...

She has a different air!

She's elegant, beautiful, and refined...

He! Ryuken!

Come here. - What?

Ryuken...

Why didn't you do as the chief said?

Thanks to your small sympathy,

our entire group will be targeted by them.

That's what the chief was worried about.

So close your eyes to it and...

No way.

Ryuken!

I refuse to watch someone get killed!

Ryuken!

Are you going to take on the Narukami group?

Kick her out! - No! I can't do that!

Oh, no.

You must be hungry.

Darn!

Did you see a woman in a blue kimono?

I know!

Miss, hovv about one?

I'll give you a discount.

Princess.

Nagisa.

Keep walking straight.

Princess Yuki, you will have to die today.

Princess, prepare to die!

Ryuken! - You're safe now.

You fool!

Hayata! Kijiro!

You're all at fault!

Who gave you permission?

There's another side to it.

What is your name?

Chief!

I'm asking you your name.

Yuki.

I'm asking you for your name.

My name is Yuki!

I'm the daughter of Lord Asano Tsunachika of Geishu clan!

My name is Yuki!

Yuki!

No, it's not!

You are a double.

You are Princess Yuki's double!

Which means, you could die in the shadows.

However, if you die now...

No one would appreciate it.

Even the princess that you are protecting.

It might be the lga ninja that are protecting the princess.

I've heard of an lga group called the Shadow Warriors.

Chief...

If our opponents are the Shadow Warriors,

then they are formidable enemies.

Punish them along with Princess Yuki!

SHADOW WARRIORS III

Lady Senshu-ni, you tricked me, didn't you?

Hovv sharp of you. You saw right through it.

It was a means to fool the enemy.

Are you saying the double is there to die, anyway?

Her name is Osode, and she was the daughter of

a farmer in Geishu.

The Edo chief retainer Otsuki happened to see her,

and was surprised at hovv closely she resembled the princess.

Therefore he took her in thinking she'd come in handy.

That year, they had a terrible famine,

so her family was contemplating suicide.

Are you saying her parents sold her?

Osode gladly offered her life to us.

Not only was she saving her family's lives, but...

in a broad sense, she was doing good for the clan.

I'm sure she feels happy to die for the princess.

We are returning the assignment as of today.

However...

We will protect Osode at our free will.

Her determination to fulfill her duties as a double,

knowing she will be killed, shows praiseworthy courage.

Therefore, we cannot let her die.

Princess, if you have no guilt whatsoever towards Osode,

then you are not worthy of being above others.

Excuse me.

Three more days...

Let's do whatever we can to protect Osode's life.

At first, I thought it was silly to stake my life for a double, but...

I'm starting to understand hovv the chief feels.

What's wrong?

I wonder what Ryuken is doing now.

Are you jealous?

Anyone would be curious!

A man and woman alone in a remote village!

Ryuken is slow in that respect, so don't vvorry.

I'm glad it wasn't you that she's with.

I'm worried.

If it were me...

Having a hard time sleeping?

I feel relaxed...

I can finally go back to being myself after three years...

You were playing the role of a double for three years?

Yes.

I see.

The first year, I stayed at the chief retainer's residence,

learning Princess Yuki's mannerisms and habits.

I wasn't allowed to go out at all.

That's terrible!

But thanks to him, I was able to be a filial daughter.

My siblings are safe, too.

I heard they're all doing fine.

You must want to go home.

Vvhy?

I gave my life to Princess Yuki.

Don't lie!

I'm not lying!

Suit yourself!

I hate liars!

Ryuken, are you mad at me?

Stupid!

Let's go faster!

Faster!

Let's go faster!

Hang on tight now!

That was close!

Now I'm hungry! - Me, too!

I'll cook something right away! - Thanks!

Osode, it's time for you to do your last duty...

The chief retainer and his men will be here for you shortly

You must return to the upper mansion in the palanquin they bring.

Osode! Do you understand?

You offered your life to Princess Yuki.

So do a good job!

Aren't you being selfish?

What do you take her life for?!

She put her life in danger many times for the princess.

She's returned the debt more than enough already!

Princess Yuki, what will you do?

Don't go!

You'll be killed for sure this time!

Princess! Don't go!

L, Yuki, will return to the upper mansion.

Ryuken...

I will never forget about you.

They failed me twice!

What a disgrace to the Narukami group!

Go to Ohama Palace the day after tomorrow...

She will have to go back at once to the Geishu clan's main residence.

That's when we'll attack her!

This is the last chance for our group to see light!

SHADOW WARRIORS III

GEISHU CLAN'S MAIN RESIDENCE

ls everything okay here? - Yes, it is.

Good!

Be alert!

Everything is fine here.

Reporting!

The front and back gates are secured!

Good!

The Narukami group will be attacking in full force.

Whereas, we have just a limited number here.

We'll need all the luck there is to beat them.

Chief Retainer, a small defeat will result in a big victory.

That's true.

If we die here, the enemies will let their guards down.

Then the meeting between the shogun and Princess Yuki will

go smoothly tomorrow.

Osode is fully prepared.

You'll be saving the ZOQOOO-koku Geishu clan.

I'm counting on you!

The Shadow Warriors are here.

So you've showed up, lga ninja.

Are you the chief?

I'm Tarao Hanzo.

I shall punish the brutal Narukami group.

Shut up!

Asaji!

Osode! - Ryuken/

There's no glory in dying!

Shuzen, I am glad that you survived.

I heard that Asaji wasn't seriously hurt, either.

I am very happy that Osode is alive, too.

We owe it to the lga ninja.

I pray that you have a safe meeting with the shogun.

After you return to Geishu...

Follow your father's footsteps and rule wisely with your

adopted husband.

I will never forget those words.

Asaji!

Princess Yuki! Die!

Hanzo!

Damn you!

My body is iron...

My mind is empty...

Evil shall be destroyed.

Thus, the 200, OOO-koku Geishu clan was allowed to continue.

However, the mastermind behind this conspiracy to kill Princess Yuki,

WGS never exposed.

So the Kishu clan did not receive punishment for it.

Princess, what is the matter?

I thought I might be able to see Osode.

How's business?

Terrible. - That's not good!

What a nice day!

Your family will be happy to see you.

I owe it all to you and your group...

Are you going to stay there for life?

Yes.

I'll go back to being a farmer's daughter,

and work in the fields every day.

And you'll eventually get married.

I don't know about that.

As much as I would like to see you again...

Geishu is too far away.

Let's part here.

This is farewell.

Yeah. Take care now.

Ryuken, thank you.

I will never forget about you.

Good bye.

What a fool I am...

Trying to act cool!

I'm such a fool!

What is it, madam?

Will you be honest with me?

What are you doing, going out all the time?

Does it matter? That's over with.

I'm working hard now, aren't l?

Isn't there a woman involved?

Well, I guess...

It's all right.

You understand a woman's feelings, don't you?

A little...

I sent Osuzu and Okimi out on an errand.

You know what I am thinking now, don't you?

Yes, I do.

Isn't it...

About what happened recently?

You're thinking about your dead cat.

Stupid!
