He really was in my corner.

Because at this point,

I cannot trust anybody in this game.

Just seem... it seemed like the best

opportunity to take one
of the biggest threats

out of this game.

I'm feeling great.

Tribal council went exactly as planned.

I convinced ozzy to vote out q.

And while getting rid of
one of our strongest players

may not work out well

for us when it comes to challenges,

the strength and loyalty of the people

that I'm working with is
probably more important.

That was definitely the right move.

Look, I'm-I'm resigned to the fact

that we could be
going right back to tribal.

Yeah.

I'm just a little afraid
of Angelina, Mike white.

And if we lose Angelina, like, -yeah.

Peel her off of him,

- and then we can, like, manage him.

At this point, I trust
ozzy, but I'm still a little

wary of the fact that Christian does

have this relationship
with Mike and Angelina.

So, I agree with ozzy.

Angelina is the best person to vote out.

I really thought I might be going home.

It's an understandable feeling.

I actually brought my shot in the dark

with me up there, and I
was like, "no. You know what,

I trust this group."

- Okay.

Honestly, I was at the
edge of my seat tonight

because Stephenie voted for me.

Luckily, everyone stuck to the plan,

which, especially in season 50,

is not an easy thing to do.

But it all worked out.

So now I'm gonna play it cool.

I want Stephenie

to feel comfortable,
because if she's the next

to go... and I think she is...

we don't want her to see it coming,

and we don't want her to
play her shot in the dark.

I want to make sure that
we're working together.

First things first. Got

is back up for grabs.

For today's challenge, you're
gonna leap into the ocean

and swim to a narrow deck
that's elevated above the water.

You'll then work together
to get two tribe members up

to release two hanging
buckets. Get back in the water.

You'll then remove sandbags
from your submerged boat

until you can get it to the surface,

where you will use the buckets

to bail out the excess water.

You'll then load your
letter cubes in your boat,

push it to the finish, where you will

use those letter cubes to
build a massive arch puzzle.

First two tribes to finish win immunity,

safe from the vote, can't be voted out.

Losers, tribal council,

where somebody will be
the fifth person voted out

of survivor 50,

and as a penalty for
losing, I will keep your flint.

Vatu, you're working to earn yours back.

In addition... you're playing for a reward.

We've been playing a
long time without food.

have fish that he catches.

in the history of survivor.

Survivor has been my
favorite show for a long time,

so, I think what brought me

all the way out here to Fiji... it's literally

on the other side of the
planet from where I live...

was the chance to get to do the things

that I love to do and then
get to share that with people

that are on a show that I love
and getting to come up with

what I would want for
a reward, you know?

What... the meal that I would
want to have if I was out here.

That's cool. It's such a cool thing.

Just being a part of
something that you love, man,

and contributing something to it...

I mean, that's... That's where it's at. Like,

there's nothing else that I could ask for.

First time I went spearfishing
was about 17 years ago.

We were in The Bahamas, and I just

absolutely fell in love with it.

Being able to interact with nature

and being able to be
immersed in it and being pushed

in places where people
don't normally go...

it recharges my batteries.

Every time that I dive, I see
something I haven't seen before.

It's literally another universe.

Being underneath the water

makes me feel small in
the most incredible way.

I find a lot of peace under the water,

but there's definitely different challenges.

Sometimes the visibility is not as good.

And then sometimes,
you're in a lot of current.

So, you're always reading
what's happening around you.

I imagine that's the same in survivor.

You got to adapt to
whatever's happening.

And you learn how to be around sharks.

There's sharks every day
that you're spearfishing.

And you're battling them for the fish.

When you're close enough to get a shot,

and it hits the fish,

it's an amazing feeling,
but that's half the battle.

Then you got to get the fish in
your hands as fast as you can,

'cause the sharks... they're
gonna come after your fish.

But once you pull the fish into your body,

the shark kind of stops
pursuing it. Catching such

a big, gnarly fish...
that's... that was satisfying.

But I didn't want to just bring
them a bunch of little fish.

I wanted to have something impressive.

So, I can't wait to bring
some amazing food,

and they're gonna eat
good. We're gonna cook it up

and feed 'em well, charge 'em
up for the rest of their time here.

We are all extremely fortunate

- to be here.
- This is incredible.

I love the unpredictability of it,

The reason that I love playing music

is making people feel good.

You know, or sharing
whatever feeling that is

that I'm trying to put into a song,

the connection that you get with them.

Music is such great medicine, so,

if I can write something that helps me,

it's gonna help somebody else.

one of my favorite ones.

You know, they're away
from their loved ones,

they're away from everything, so,

hopefully, it reminds them of home

or what they're fighting for a little bit

and maybe help them
power through the game.

It's, like, healing my soul.

As he was singing that song,
tears were coming down my eyes.

And I'm just slowing down time.

It's something that we don't do enough

in the real world.

Put everything aside and take

moment-by-moment
snapshots in our brain

to be in the here and now.

And I just want to sit there

and listen to the power of Zac's voice.

My god.

This is a moment that will be etched

in the seven of our minds forever.

Regardless of the game,

we've got to live in the
moment. Life is too short.

And a reward like this is
part of why I came back.

You've got to try to make
smart moves at all times,

but at the end of it,

when the decisions are made
and you're playing your play,

you can't worry about it.

And now I have no qualms

about playing this thing
heads up, full tilt between here

and the finish line to
push the ball across.

If my journey in survivor ends tomorrow,

it would be worth it for
that experience with Zac.

And I'm not trying to go home tomorrow,

but that was about as good as it gets.

felt so much like losing,

I think it's, like,

that moment in the sanctuary together.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime memory, for sure,

that we're not gonna experience.

I've grown up listening to Zac brown.

me through so much.

My childhood and, like, growing up,

struggling with my parents,

and just growing up, trying
to understand yourself.

There's just so many phases in my life

anything about survivor 49,

rizgod with an idol loves
making noises at tribal.

"The last time this can be
used is when there's five players

left in the game."

Pull this off every season.

Since day one,

I've been climbing my
way up the food chain

to prove that I'm one of the better players

to ever play this game.

So I can't wait to see what
magic I work with this bad boy.

This is amazing.

By the time we got the
sandbags out of the boat, and then

got the water out, I was, like, spent.

- That was a hard one.
- I couldn't even,

like, find a place in
the boat to push from.

You guys were amazing, though.

Coming up short and losing immunity

after all of that is absolutely devastating,

but the plan is kind of in motion.

Angelina was already a target for ozzy.

makes sense to break up

the David vs. Goliath alliance,

while also still buying me
goodwill and respect with ozzy.

I'm also down to go whichever way

the group wants to go.

At this point, I want Angelina tonight.

The thing about Angelina is that

she's not a threat to win the game.

She's... she's... She's a number.

When it comes down to it,

there's really only one option for me.

We're voting out Angelina
because it's very important

that I peel Angelina

away from Mike because I want Mike

to feel like he doesn't
have anyone in this game

that he can really trust except for me.

Here's the thing about Emily.

She starts off as this
kind of awkward, shy girl,

but, like, once you get to
know her, she is a beast.

She is so strategic.

She knows this game inside and out.

She's a cougar in the
shape of, like, a ren faire girl.

She has got to go. She's a problem.

- Okay.
- But I don't... I mean,

it's-it's, like, if you're
comfortable with that.

Listen, I will do what
you guys want to do.

- Really?
- Yeah.

I thought "we're good, we're solid",

"we're doing Angelina." Then.

Mike comes to me with a plan for Emily.

Like, things turn so quick
in this game, it's crazy.

What are you guys talking about?

- What-what to do tomorrow.

- Just calm down.

I'm trying to turn that around.

Apparently, there is a
secret plan... Against me.

Luckily, I've got the
David vs. Goliath gang.

I've got my spy, Mike white.

man, Christian hubicki.

So, I'm calm,

because if we're truly
locked in with each other,

that's a pretty good firewall.

I think Emily is a dangerous player.

I feel like Emily is our best call.

All we need is four votes.

And Stephenie is down.

Mike is trying to get out Emily.

I've been with Emily since
the beginning of this game.

I don't want her to go.

I think that I would

need to find a way to manage ozzy.

I feel like it's almost better to maybe not

tell him and then just fix it afterwards.

The other option is Angelina, one of my

compatriots from David vs. Goliath.

This vote is a double whammy of terrible.

God.

What am I supposed to do?

- Let's do this.
- This is a big one.

If only there was some other way.

Yeah.

I can tell that Christian doesn't want

to get rid of Emily.

Christian's relationship
with Emily reminds me

of his relationship with
Gabby from David vs. Goliath,

which is this type, like, nerd bomb where

the nerdy girl takes the dagger out

and stabs the nerdy guy in the back.

And so, I'm gonna have to, like,

try to manipulate
Christian to get what I want.

Yeah.

I'm playing survivor. I am

the machiavellian, you
know, puppet master

who's trying to, you know,
get what I want in the game.

And I think this game
is about persuasiveness.

It's really just about being able

to persuade other people
to do what you want.

And if Christian needed
any more convincing

to get rid of Emily tonight, that did it.

Mike's saying, "Christian",

"you're falling into the same trap

with Emily as you did with Gabby."

It's a knife to the heart.

Do you want to play with me?

- Play with you? On the sand?
- But do you...?

No. Do you want to
play this game with me?

When have I ever indicated otherwise?

Back on my season with Gabby.

David vs. Goliath, she
was my closest ally.

Christian and I have made nearly

every move together, so I
need to remove him so that I

am free to play my own game.

And for reasons

that are perfectly rational in my mind,

she tried to take me out.

Christian. Does not count.

That really hurt.

Like a dagger in the heart.

I'm sorry. I've never
cried about this before.

Even at home, I just...

Seven years.

Mike's terrifying.

When he wants to get
you to do something,

he's so convincing.

He knows where to hit you,

and what he thinks
are the right arguments.

I think Mike feels safe.

I think he believes I'm
all on board, but Mike

is the most dangerous
person on this or any island.

And we... and we...

Yeah?

Angelina and Mike, they're voting who?

Emily. That's two.

Where is ozzy voting?

Angelina. That's one.

So Mike goes home?

So I need to pull aside Emily and say,

"hey, Emily, guess
what? You were the plan.

"It's time to get rid of Mike.

We have a three, two, one, he's out."

And she will happily do it.

- But ozzy won't vote for him.
- Ozzy won't vote for him.

This is gonna be a tricky move to pull off.

We're leaving ozzy out of this.

He seems real close to
Mike. He really likes Mike.

Ozzy is absolutely gunning
for a white lotus cameo.

He won't vote for Mike.

And I don't want ozzy to spill the beans.

This is too delicate.

Mike is too good. He's too perceptive.

So, yes, ozzy might be mad.

But I'll take the blame for that.

Okay.

- Mike.
- Mike?

I didn't like him. I knew I didn't like him.

I have a plan.

- Really?
- Yes.

- Does ozzy know?
- No.

Is Stephenie with us?

We were...

- Okay.
- Okay? So...

We can't... Why can't we clue ozzy in?

I feel like I'm stuck

between a rock and a hard place here.

Ozzy did me such a favor with the q vote.

I promised him that I'd go
along with his plan for Angelina.

But I could potentially be going home.

It's a huge move, and I want
to be with you on it, okay?

So I have only one option at this point,

which is vote for Mike.

My heart sinks a little bit

because I'm working with ozzy.

And so, I want him
brought in on the plan.

I don't want ozzy left

First words out of Emily's mouth:

You realize the plan's

I'm, like, giving her a
death stare. I'm like,

"you don't screw this up.

I'm putting myself out there for you."

She just does it. She just blurts.

It's, like, the foot-in-mouth thing

is a real thing for her.

First the idol. Now this?

It's just too much chaos

when you have to play
around someone like that.

I think Mike is right.

Maybe it's better for my game

for Emily to go right now.

But at the same time,
Mike's so dangerous.

He knows where to twist the dagger.

This vote tonight comes down to me.

I don't know what to do.

I've never felt more conflicted on a vote.

Not in all the days I've played.

Never.

Mike, how you doing?
I'm just looking at your face.

You're barely moving.

There's almost no expression.

Yeah, I mean, part of the game is that

the strong get stronger
and the weak get weaker.

And sometimes I feel
like I'm being punished

for not being taller and
stronger and younger.

I mean, I know you have
to eat humble pie out here,

but it feels like that's all I've been eating.

And just because you are trying

really, really, really hard

doesn't mean you're gonna
win the super bowl, you know?

I was just gonna say, it's like sports.

It's like sports. Yeah, you
know, maybe you should...

You should talk about
this more than me, trust me.

Yeah, I mean, you need the team.

You need the team that's right

for the task at hand, you know, and

this definitely was the task

we didn't get Zac brown

- and spearfish at our camp today.

- I mean, after ozzy did

a herculean effort in that challenge,

he came back and
caught seven fish for us.

- I will say this.

I came into this
experience a fan of survivor.

You know, I remember a
bit of what ozzy did on TV.

But in real life, ozzy is the most humble,

down-to-earth, kind dude.

- Man, thank you. Geez.
- Yeah, I'm not trying to...

Sorry. I'm not trying to,
like, you know, kiss your ass

or something, but it's genuine.

And as much as we're all trying to, like,

factor in existing relationships,

I think the new relationships forming

have been some of the
most interesting and powerful

that I've experienced in survivor.

And I've loved getting
to know everybody here.

And yet, you're all about
to write down a name

and completely blindside
one of the six of you.

So, ozzy, one way to look at this

is it's a crisis point.

If you vote out the wrong person,

- this tribe may not recover.
- Well, Jeff,

the fact of the matter
is this also presents

an opportunity to build trust.

Look, I'm willing to put it
all out there for these guys,

these guys that I've played with.

They can trust me,

and they know that in situations
where we need something,

I'm gonna go out and do
the best job I possibly can.

Christian, ozzy's
looking at the other side,

which is, if you survive,
the bond gets stronger,

and that purpose can
lead to more cohesion.

Certainly, but there's a big
"if" at the beginning of that.

If you survive.

And part of that is trust, trusting

that not only the group is cohesive,

but that whatever vote comes next

is also not gonna come your way.

Steph, how do you
balance your individual gut

versus trying to assess
what the group gut is

to make sure that they are aligned,

and it's not you tonight?

It's hard. I mean, I'm
trying to trust my gut.

But in a game where you're
getting so much information

from so many different
people, it's really hard.

There is no, "100% your
gut is right. Go with that."

Angelina, how do you balance it?

I always let my instincts be the last word.

And it's the observations.
It's the head, it's the heart.

It's all baked in, saying,
"this is what I feel is right.

This is what I'm drawn to.
This is the right next step."

That's all I've got out here.

Mike, obviously, it has to serve you.

It has to serve everybody
when they make a vote.

- Yeah.
- But it also has to serve the group,

to some degree.

Well, the thing that's difficult is,

I have preexisting relationships

with some of these people.

I am bonding with some
people more than others. It's...

you know, it's, like, the
dynamics of the group.

And then there's also,
yeah, your individual,

you know, affinities.

And so, when it comes
to voting, it's like, yeah,

there's some people you'd
rather lose with than win with.

- You know what I mean?
- And yet, Mike,

it's part of the fun, because
you're given permission

to do your best lying,

to try to test your powers of persuasion.

"If I can get somebody off of
their idea and onto my idea."

Yeah, maybe there's something about

my, profession, which is
basically, selling people

on a... like, a random dream

that's totally unnecessary,

and, like, you know, asking them

to put a lot of money
and resources into it.

And until you actually
turn in what you've done,

you feel like you're kind of a con artist.

You know what I mean?

That skill is something that
I've honed over the years,

and it is something that, like, yeah,

you wonder if it can
be put to work out here,

and it's a muscle that I guess it-it has a...

There's a natural aspect to it, you know?

Christian, the interesting thing about

what Mike just said
is, he said, "in my job",

"I have to create things,
and I have to sell people.

"I have to almost con
them into believing me

"until I'm able to deliver
the finished product

and show that it was worth it."

Yeah, I'm not sure the wga is...

I wouldn't put it on my
business card, but okay.

But what I'm getting at is

that's a skill every single
person needs in this game.

What makes it unique with Mike is that

that is his actual profession.

Well, I'll be honest. I've
never heard Mike describe it

in that way, that that's part of his job.

But, like, I-I can see it.

I think that in every
one of our professions,

there is some kernel we take with us

that is useful here on the island.

So then, how about for you?

From the standpoint of,

in your career, things are very
black and white, I'm guessing,

that you look at things, "if I do this",

"this will happen," versus out here,

- it's much more vague.
- Yeah, I mean,

a lot of my perspective has
changed after playing survivor,

even in my own profession, for sure.

I mean, it gave me

a lot of ideas for my research, for one,

but more broadly, it opened my eyes to...

when you're working in a world where

all the information you
have might not be true,

how do you investigate
what's true and what's not?

That's just how it works
in all kinds of professions.

So, yeah, it does recontextualize things.

I mean, I think it makes me more aware,

and I think that's a good thing.

Emily, how often during an afternoon

where you're trying to
figure out who to vote out,

do you change your mind or
consider changing your mind?

I think you have to
come into conversations

with an open mind, which means

being open to changing your mind.

And I would say, it
happens half a dozen times.

Sometimes it goes a
to b and then b back to a

and then to d and then to c.

And I will say, sitting here

in tribal council at this exact moment,

I am having a sinking feeling.

- Really?
- You know, I think you pick up

on vibes, right?

And...

vibes are off.

Wow. Anybody else

understand what Emily's talking about?

What are you feeling?

That you go about this
game thinking one thing,

and then all it takes is
one or two conversations,

and you find yourself,

"did I consider it from that angle?"

And wondering if there were things

that I didn't think about that would result

in my torch being snuffed tonight.
