Being that it wasn't done Eric's way,
he undid it, like, purposely.

temperatures begin to plummet.

Last night, I woke up
with my feet freezing numerous times,

to the point to where
I thought my toes were, like, wet.

...it's been really tough.

It's a lot of extra work.

The best thing I have going for me
at this point is an amazing partner

So I'm so cold at night. It is brutal.

What has concerned me,
finally, last night is that

I have had frostbite on these two fingers.

I got it in Antarctica
climbing Mt. Vinson,

and I really haven't had any problems
with it since.

But these fingers
started really hurting and throbbing,

which is telling me
it's getting triggered. That concerns me.

I've been through
hurricane-force winds on Aconcagua.

I have climbed Denali in Alaska.

Two months on Everest.
I've been down in Antarctica.

But the expeditions I've been on,
I have incredible gear with me.

I get to be in a safe, secured tent,
a negative 40 sleeping bag.

I get warm food.

I get to sleep and let my body recover.

and, uh, make sea salt.

So we're, uh, going to strain it out.

Don't have any strings, so I took a root.

Sacrificed one of my wool shirts.

We should probably get anywhere
from six to 15 grams of salt out of this.

Coming from my naturalist background
and understanding foods and healing,

salt is the key to life,

and without that, I've been...
My muscles have been tight.

Bring it up to a hard boil,

and then slow-boil it down
until it has a little bit of moisture left

so it doesn't crystallize
and stick to the pan.

And voilà, sea salt.

Now that we're done, I get to cook food
and keep the team happy.

This is going to help our muscles.

We'll get electrolytes,
and this stuff won't taste so bland now.

Eric definitely butts heads
with everyone on the team,

but one thing I can say about Chef,

he does great with making sure,

Back at Charlie Camp,
Julio's muscle spasms have subsided,

allowing him to forego medical evacuation,

which would disqualify him from the game.

What usually happens at night
just happened now.

It was up my back.

It was in my abdomen as well,
which I've never experienced.

That really caught me by surprise.

And if you were to put
the discomfort on a scale, zero to ten,

zero being no pain,
ten being the worst pain you've ever had...

Yeah, it'd be like a 20.

And I can take pain,
but this is, like, crazy.

Do you recall how much water you had?

Maybe 16 ounces in sum.

We've had probably 250 calories
in seven and a half days.

Without proper nutrition
and electrolytes,

Julio's ability to fight off dehydration
through water alone

has been greatly reduced.

It seems like things
are graduating.

My fear is those cramps
are going to continue to advance.

To make matters worse,

his muscle cramps
are fueled by the cold temperatures,

as his body attempts to warm itself
through muscle contractions.

Um, right now, I don't see a reason
for an immediate medevac.

"I have to stop."

just trying to save myself

permanent injury.
