of Kings" Triple H,

an icon who graced the squared
circle with talent

so incredible the story
of WWE

cannot be told
properly without him.

[Triple H] I'm Triple H, and
with me,

there is no hype necessary.

[Michael Cole] To this day, his
presence is still felt out of

the ring as the Cerebral
Assassin's mind

permeates WWE's every move.

[Jim Ross] He's as deadly as
they come.

The Cerebral Assassin.

[Michael Cole] With an intellect
as impressive as his physical

capabilities, The Game is
unquestionably a bona fide

legend of professional
wrestling.

Today, we're looking back at all
things King of Kings as we delve

in to the illustrious career of
Triple H.

[Triple H] Are you ready?

[Michael Cole] This is WWE's
Greatest Moments.

[Michael Cole] Oh, my God, what
the hell are you doing?

[Jim Ross] Absolutely
unbelievable.

[Michael Cole] Welcome,
everyone,

to WWE's Greatest Moments.

I'm Michael Cole.

And on this edition, we're
looking back at the very best of

"The Game" Triple H.

In 1995, the WWE Universe was
introduced to the posh and

proper Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

The Connecticut blue blood would
eventually morph into the brash

and dangerous superstar we've
come to know.

[Triple H] Let's get ready to
suck it.

[Michael Cole] Aligning himself
with his best friend,

Shawn Michaels, the two
would form

one of the greatest factions
of all time.

[Shawn Michaels] We are
D-Generation X.

You made your rules, and we will
break 'em.

[Michael Cole] But after a
severe back injury to keep

The Heartbreak Kid away from
competition,

it was time for Triple H
to take the reins.

[Jim Ross] Triple H of DX is
gonna make

a major announcement
here tonight.

[Chris Van Vliet] At that time,
D-Generation X was

the biggest faction in WWE,

and it was hard to picture them
without Shawn Michaels.

[Triple H] This is the genesis
of D-Generation X.

There were conversations with me
about going forward

with DX from there.

When you start an army, you look
to your friends.

[Jim Ross] Well, look who's
back.

[X-Pac] Hunter called me.

He wanted to keep doing the DX
thing.

I was just happy it turned out
as good as it did.

One of my best friends of my
entire life, Triple H,

and he says, "DX
needs your help."

[Peter Rosenberg] So now you
have Triple H, Chyna and X-Pac.

That's not all for that night, though.

The New Age Outlaws have a tag
match against Cactus Jack

and Chainsaw Charlie.

And all of a sudden, DX shows up
and interferes.

[Jim Ross] That's DX.

DX is here.

[Road Dogg] And then we all got
on all four corners of the cage

after that.

[Jim Ross] They're stronger than
ever.

[Road Dogg] There they were.

Triple H's DX.

[DX's music]

[Triple H] Let's get ready to
suck it.

After renewed DX, very quickly
went from a place of approaching

everything from an angry heel
standpoint

to fans were mobbing us.

The fans loved it.

It's my DX, it's my army.

[Michael Cole] In 2001, Triple H
was at the top of his game.

[Triple H] When you play The
Game, you will lose.

[Michael Cole] Engulfed in a
heated rivalry with

"The Texas Rattlesnake" "Stone
Cold" Steve Austin,

these two would stop at nothing
to take the other out.

[Stone Cold] Triple H, right
here in this ring in front of

the world, I'm gonna beat your
ass.

[Michael Cole] This situation
became so tumultuous that it

required an entirely new type of
match just to settle the score.

A 3 Stages of Hell match.

[Jim Ross] Three falls of hell
for Austin and The Game.

[Jerry Lawler] Is Austin ready
to play The Game?

That's the question.

[Stone Cold] A regular match, it
was a- that turned into a, uh,

street fight that turned into a
cage match.

That was the first time that's
been done.

[Jim Ross] This whole issue
built on nothing

but pure hatred.

[The Miz] To put those two
together created a match

of just magic.

[Jim Ross] Stone Cold has beaten
The Game in the first fall.

[bell rings]

[Kevin Owens] That was really
cool 'cause

it's not just one stipulation,
it's three of 'em.

[Jim Ross] Now we're in a street
fight phase.

[Jerry Lawler] Look out.

Look out.

[Triple H] It was just straight
magic that happened

with me and Austin.

Professionally, a great part of
my career.

[Jim Ross] The sledgehammer
right at Austin's face.

Now going for the Pedigree, and
that's the second by God fall.

[bell rings]

[Jim Ross] And now we're going
to the third fall.

[Jerry Lawler] What are these
guys gonna do?

We've seen what
they're capable of,

we've seen all what they've
done to each other already.

[Jim Ross] The Game punishing
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Wait a minute.

The Game.

[Jerry Lawler] Look out.

[Triple H] I think we went like
45 minutes.

[Jim Ross] This is a marathon.

Triple H has got the
sledgehammer,

Austin with the 2x4.

[Jerry Lawler] Look out.

[Jim Ross] Oh.

They both scored, they both hit
each other,

and The Game falling
back on Austin.

Austin, wait a minute.

Triple H has done it.

[bell rings]

[Chris Van Vliet] Triple H won
two outta three.

This was a huge victory for
Triple H.

[Michael Cole] In 2015, Triple H
and his wife, Stephanie McMahon,

ruled the WWE with an iron fist
as The Authority.

[Triple H] Anybody that defies
our authority will grovel.

Roman.

[Michael Cole] However, his
subjects wouldn't take kindly to

such an emotionless ruler.

[JBL] No, no, no, no, no, no,
no.

That's the boss.

[Michael Cole] The semi-retired
King of Kings

would suffer a vicious attack at
the hands of Roman Reigns.

Oh, my God.

What is he doing now?

Stop him.

Oh, my God.

He just Speared Triple H through
the floor.

But his punishment for his
actions, Reigns was forced to

defend his WWE Championship in
the number one spot

at the Royal Rumble.

[Michael Cole] It's one versus
all.

Outlasting many competitors,

Roman Reigns looked to be on the
verge of retaining his title.

[Byron Saxton] Roman Reigns is
the only one standing

in this match right now.

[Michael Cole] Until he learned
why you should never put your

hands on the boss.

[Michael Cole] Number 30
on his way.

[buzzer]

[Triple H's music]

[crowd cheers]

[Michael Cole] Oh my God.

?

[Chris Van Vliet] At this point
in his career,

Triple H really wasn't
wrestling that often.

For him to come out at the Royal
Rumble,

this was a huge surprise.

?

[Michael Cole] We have not seen
Triple H since Roman Reigns

sent him to the hospital
over a month ago.

[Byron Saxton] Here we go.

[Seth Rollins] He's not afraid
to do whatever it takes

to keep himself at the top.

[Michael Cole] Roman Reigns
eliminated.

We are guaranteed to have a new
champion,

and it's gonna be Triple H
or Dean Ambrose.

Triple H over the top rope.

Ambrose gonna do it.

[Byron Saxton] No, he hung on.

He hung on.

[Michael Cole] Ambrose
eliminated.

[bell rings]

[Michael Cole] Triple H is
a 14-time WWE Champion.

[Roman Reigns] To be able to be
in there with Triple H,

you lose to learn how to win.

You know what I mean?

So you have to go through some
kind of struggle,

some kind of adversity.

[JBL] What a great night for The
Authority.

[Triple H] The Rumble was
incredible.

It was everything it needed to
be.

[Michael Cole] When a king has
lust for power, the best way to

keep it is to surround yourself
with trusted allies.

Following a victory over his
former friend, Shawn Michaels,

at Armageddon 2002-

[Jerry Lawler] He's the World
Heavyweight Champion, JR.

[Michael Cole] -Triple H

captured the World Heavyweight
Championship once again,

taking his rightful place
atop the WWE kingdom.

[Triple H] From now on, when you
call me out,

you don't just get me.

[Michael Cole] In February of
2003, the King of Kings

introduced the WWE Universe to
his new royal council.

[Jim Ross] Wait a minute, what
the hell is this?

That's the World's Heavyweight
Champion, Triple H,

and who are these other guys?

Batista and Flair and Orton.

What are they doing out here?

[Triple H] And what you see in
this ring before you

is the greatest example of
Evolution you will ever see.

Evolution was sort of that next
step in careers.

Dave Batista, 6'5�, 325 pounds.

[Batista] Hunter was the first
guy to-to see something

special in me.

[Triple H] Randy Orton is the
coal that will be squeezed

into the next diamond.

[Randy Orton] That's a huge part
of what made me who I am.

[Chris Van Vliet] Triple H
cutting that promo and forming

Evolution was a monumental
moment in his career.

Evolution had an incredible run.

[Evolution's music]

[Jerry Lawler] The celebration
is just about to begin.

Evolution on top of the world.

[Chris Van Vliet] Triple H is
really the architect here,

setting them on that path.

You've got two future world
champions here, Randy Orton and

Batista, and that may not have
happened without Triple H.

[Randy Orton] Because Hunter saw
that there was something special

about Randy Orton, my career
took off.

[Batista] Hunter made my career.

I-I was only as good as I was
because of Hunter.

[Triple H] So if you wake up one
day and you're wondering what in

the hell happened, Evolution has
just passed you by.

[Michael Cole] Triple H desired
one thing, one thing that eluded

him his whole career, the WWE
Championship.

And he would do nearly anything
to get his shot.

[Triple H] Now, Mick, I want
your ass out here.

I want what is mine, or I am
gonna break his arm.

[Mick Foley] You don't have to
threaten JR.

You want a shot at this belt?

All you have to do is ask.

[Michael Cole] Triple
H and Mankind,

WWE Championship
on the line.

[bell rings]

[Michael Cole] Shane McMahon
who appointed

himself the referee to this
match.

[Mick Foley] He's on the
precipice of greatness,

but he still hadn't had
that decisive moment.

[Triple H] Mick was instrumental
in putting his stamp

of toughness to Triple H.

[Michael Cole] And now Triple H
takes advantage.

[Jerry Lawler] Did you see that?

[Michael Cole] Double-teamed.

[Triple H] That night was pretty
much the most important thing in

my life at that point.

[Michael Cole] Pedigree time.

He got it.

Triple H with a Pedigree.

[Jerry Lawler] This is- It's
over.

[Michael Cole] Referee.

Will it be?
Will it be?

[Jerry Lawler] Yes.

[Michael Cole] Triple H.

[bell rings]

[Jerry Lawler] Yes.

[Michael Cole] Triple H.
Triple H.

[Triple H] Guys inside the
business will joke about it like

there's a moment when you win
that title for the first time

where it's all real and you sort
of get that feeling.

[Triple H's music]

[Jerry Lawler] Triple H has
realized his dream.

He is now the World Wrestling- Champion.

[Michael Cole] With
the help of his mentor,

Triple H, Randy Orton
evolved from a champion

to a vicious Viper that gained
a lust for the spotlight.

In 2009, Orton won the Royal
Rumble and chose to face his

former ally, Triple H, for the
WWE Championship

at WrestleMania 25.

[Randy Orton] Triple H, I have
taken everything from you

except the WWE title.

[Michael Cole] All bets were
off,

but The Game decided to
make a house call.

[Randy Orton] Triple H, I gave
you too much credit.

You're not the competitor that I
thought you were.

You're not even the man that I
thought you were.

[Chris Van Vliet] Randy Orton's
doing an interview at his house,

and then all of a sudden-

[Randy Orton] -award me the
title.

I- Wait, stop.

Samantha, don't get the door.

[Joe Hendry] It doesn't get any
more personal

than someone invading your home.

[Randy Orton] Working with
Triple H,

always a next-level experience.

[Chris Van Vliet] It was just a
chaotic moment.

I mean, Triple H is just
destroying this guy

at his house.

[yelling]

[glass breaking]

[Triple H] People were really
absorbed

at this emotionally charged
angle.

It was intense, and they could
buy into that.

[Randy Orton] He attacked me.

He attacked me.

[Michael Cole] The year 2000 was
the end of a millennium,

but it was also the beginning
of a whole new Game.

[Jerry Lawler] Triple H has won
the World Wrestling-

Championship.

[Michael Cole] No one
was taking that gold

from the King of Kings.

Not even "The King of Hardcore"
Cactus Jack.

The most sadistic wrestler of
all time was hell-bent on

capturing the prize that
Triple H held so dearly.

[Mick Foley] You accept my
stipulation,

I will put my entire 15-year
career on the line.

Hell in the Cell.

[crowd cheers]

[Jim Ross] Somebody's
going to walk out

of here with the WWE title.

[Road Dogg] The matches
they had were brutal.

The Hell in the Cell match takes
it to another level.

[Jerry Lawler] Oh, man, oh, man.

[Jim Ross] God Almighty.

For the love of God.

Oh, my God.

[Jerry Lawler] Look out.

Oh, my God.

[Jim Ross] Oh, my God.

He just went through the cage.

[Mick Foley] And then the
building just came alive.

And as soon as they come alive,
it registers,

I promised these people

I was going on top of that cell
again.

[crowd chants "Foley"]

[Jim Ross] The crowd chanting
Foley.

Cactus is going up.

[Triple H] I don't know how high
we are, but we're high.

Seems a lot higher when you're
up there.

[Mick Foley] Jerry Lawler says-

[Jerry Lawler] What could
be worse than

a 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire?

[Mick Foley] Boom.

That thing lights up.

[Jerry Lawler] What?

He's going to piledrive him on
the fire.

[Jim Ross] Oh, my God.

For the love of God.

The cage broke.

The ring broke, and Cactus Jack
has broken in half.

[Road Dogg] That's Mick's
playground.

And Hunter walked in there and
beat him.

[Triple H] What more can you do
as a heel than take a lovable

character and force him to then
retire?

[Jim Ross] Mick Foley's career
is over, folks.

[Triple H] For my career, it
meant the world.

[Triple H] It's about one thing.

It's about me.

[Michael Cole] On an episode of
Sunday Night Heat in 1999,

Triple H sat down with Jim Ross
to get something heavy off his

chest and make an emphatic
statement to the WWE Universe,

reminding them of who he was.

[Triple H] What?

You-You want me to shoot with
this interview?

I'm gonna [bleep] shoot with it.

I'm going to tell you how I feel
whether you like it or not.

[Cody Rhodes] The interview with
Jim Ross,

that's a very real interview.

Everything that came out of
Hunter's mouth was the truth.

[Triple H] I don't need anybody
else, JR.

This is about me.

I don't need to be in a Kliq
anymore.

I don't need to be in DX
anymore.

It's about me reaching my goals.

There's moments in time where
you can just sit down with

somebody and be real.

Not having to be projecting on a
microphone to a large crowd.

You guys talk about being
students of the game.

I am The [bleep] Game,
JR.

I said The Game moniker for the
first time just off the cuff.

Just happened to say it.

[Jim Ross] I knew that we had
heard something special.

[Triple H] There is nobody that
eats, sleeps, or breathes

this business more than me.

And now it's my time to prove
that to the world.

I knew that was a pivotal moment
for me

to get across what I was looking
for from the business.

I was no longer Hunter Hearst
Helmsley, I was The Game.

It was a different conversation.

[Triple H] But when it's said
and done, it's about me getting

what I deserve in this business,

and that is becoming
the WWE Champion.

[Michael Cole] A king is
dangerous when they are hungry

for glory but can be even more
ruthless

when motivated by revenge.

After watching the career of his
best friend, Shawn Michaels, end

when he failed to conquer The
Undertaker at WrestleMania 26-

The Undertaker is 18-0.

[bell rings]

[Michael] Shawn Michaels' career
is over.

- Triple H set his sights on

The Deadman the following year-

[bell rings]

[Michael Cole] -but he, too,
came up short.

[Jim Ross] We have seen two men
go through an

excursion through hell.

[Michael Cole] With The
Undertaker offering him one more

shot at immortality, and HBK as
a special guest referee,

we would witness The
Phenom and The Game

wage war inside two tons of
harrowing steel.

[Michael Cole] There have
been 24 Hell in a Cell

matches in history.

These two men have been in 19 of
them.

[The Undertaker] Our names
are-are synonymous

with that match.

[Jim Ross] Those carcinogenic
right hands of The Undertaker,

so debilitating.

[Triple H] Three guys that have
been in the trenches together

for all of it, having our last
shot on the front lines

together.

[Jerry Lawler] Oh, my God.

[The Undertaker] He beat me with
that chair

like I owed him money.

[Michael Cole] Oh, no.

Oh, no.

[Jerry Lawler] He is truly
superhuman.

How's he doing this?

[Jim Ross] Oh, my God.

[The Undertaker] At two and a
half, he kicks.

[Jim Ross] Oh, my God.

I can't believe what I'm seeing.

[Triple H] That's one of my
favorite

moments of my entire career.

[Jerry Lawler] Look at this.

[Jim Ross] My God.

We know what that means.

[Jerry Lawler] Yes, we do.

[Jim Ross] The sign.

[Jerry Lawler] Oh.

[Jim Ross] A disaster.

And a three.

[bell rings]

[The Undertaker] I knew that we
had just finished

something that was going to be
so special that would last

through the annals of time in
our industry.

[Jim Ross] An image that we will
all remember forever.

[Michael Cole] We have now
reached our number one moment,

one that would define the grit
and determination

of The King of Kings.

2001 saw Triple H running at
peak performance,

but everything would come to
a screeching halt in May

of that year when The Game
suffered a career-threatening

injury in the form
of a torn quad.

The WWE Universe questioned if
this was the end of the game.

[Jim Ross] A horrible break.

[Michael Cole] For nearly eight
grueling months,

Triple H put his body
through hell to make it back

to where he was meant to be
inside the squared circle.

It was time for The Game to
restart.

[Triple H's music]

[crowd cheers]

[The Undertaker] One of the
loudest Garden

ovations that I've ever heard.

That's what you live for.

[Jim Ross] It has been eight
full months

of hellacious rehabilitation.

[Triple H] I just have to prove
to everybody

that I can still do this.

[Jim Ross] But every moment of
hell that he went through,

was thinking about
this very night.

[Triple H] Just in case you've
forgotten, I am The Game.

[crowd cheers]

[Kurt Angle] It's Madison Square
Garden with the most

passionate WWE fans in the
whole entire world,

and Triple H got to make his
comeback there,

and it was with me,

[laughing]

which was crazy.

[Jim Ross] What the hell is this
idiot, Kurt Angle?

The audacity to interrupt this
man's return.

[Kurt Angle] Who the hell do you
think you are?

[Jerry Lawler] Hey, look out.

[Jim Ross] Oh.

The Game with those big old
right hands-

[Jerry Lawler] Yeah.

[Jim Ross] -right on the face of
that pompous Kurt Angle.

[Jerry Lawler] Get out of there,
Kurt.

Look at The Game.

[Jim Ross] My God, The Game is
in great shape.

[Jerry Lawler] Oh, no.

[Jim Ross] Oh, look out.

Could it be?
A Pedigree.

[Jerry Lawler] No.
No.

[Jim Ross] A Pedigree.

Pedigree.

[Kurt Angle] Triple H gave me
the Pedigree,

and there he was, man.

He was back in the game.

[Jim Ross] The Game looks better
than ever.

[Triple H] Just everything about
it, fairytale.

You can bet your ass I'm back.

[Michael Cole] No man alive
could stop Triple H

from conquering the impossible,

as he would stack win after
win, claim title after title,

all-the-while cementing his
legacy

in professional
wrestling.

He's The Game, and he's that
damn good.
