Jang Tae San went to prison again in 2008 instead of Moon Il Suk

because he couldn't kill Han Chi Gook?

After that Han Chi Gook suddenly disappeared.

The girl who came to the pawnshop looking for Jang Tae San. Just make the sketch and find her!

Yes, Father.

We found the woman that was looking for Jang Tae San.

Seo In Hye?

How could In Hye know Jang Tae San?

I'm going to survive no matter what.

So Jang Tae San turned himself in instead of Moon Il Suk.

So your answer for this is Jang Tae San, huh?

It's useless reading his behavior. You need to read his mind.

- I'm going to catch Jang Tae San. - We'll be in trouble if you don't.

If you ruin the auction event, I'm going to kill you.

- I'm going to catch Jang Tae San. - Jang Tae San!

Jang Tae San!

Jang Tae Sang, I'm arresting you for the murder of Oh Mi Sook and Go Man Suk.

Dad.

If she doesn't get the surgery, she will die.

She will die.

Don't even think about doing that.

Episode 6

The gunshot! What was that gunshot?

Did you shoot him?

Did you?

What about Jang Tae San? Did he run away?

Did he run away after the shot?!

I told you to catch him alive!

They're crazy!

Follow them now!

Follow them there?

What's going on? Detective Im!

- Detective Im! - Detective Im!

What about Prosecutor Park?

He's not here. Go down and find him!

Detective Im, did Jang Tae San get shot?

Where?

What are you, Detective Im? Didn't I tell you to catch him alive?

- I told you not to shoot him! - Why not?

I warned him before but he ran away.

Why can't I shoot him?

It's not his fault this time.

He did warn Jang Tae San and you gave him the gun.

Where did you shoot him exactly?

- I don't know. - The person who shot him doesn't know!.

- Where did you aim? - I aimed at his thigh

but somebody hit me with a slingshot so I don't know where I hit him.

There's something you didn't tell us about, isn't there?

Mr. Yang, request for backup right now.

And search this area.

He probably can't go far with a gunshot wound.

Tell others to block the downstream.

We're going to search from here and go down.

Move quickly!

Apart from Jang Tae Sang, if you see anyone that doesn't belong to our team, check his ID right away.

Don't let the police catch Jang Tae San and don't kill him before you get the camera.

Don't ever reveal yourself to the police.

Why are Detective Im and Prosecutor Park being like this?

Does Jang Tae San owe a debt to them or something?

Sang Hoon, we found Jang Tae San's whereabouts. I'm on the way now.

Please find information on that woman.

Her job, family, phone number, everything.

How may I help you?

Yes, well... um...

If you're waiting for somebody, you're welcome to come in and wait.

Is the owner for this store Seo In Hye?

Seo In Hye? She's a manager.

You're here to see her?

No, I'm not.

Did she by any chance get married?

Why do you ask?

She is just so beautiful, you know.

Who the hell do you think you are?

Mister, you'll get in trouble if you try hitting on my manager.

Her fiance is a detective.

A detective, huh?

In Hye, I have to go now. I'll call you later.

Are you as worried as a 'tae san'?

What?

- What does 'tae san' mean? - 'Tae san'?

I'm asking, what does 'tae san' mean?

Why are you asking that all of a sudden?

They say, 'Many a little makes a "tae san"' and

'Worried as a "tae san".'

But I don't know what 'tae san' means.

It means a huge mountain.

A huge mountain?

If it's a huge mountain, it must have a huge story too.

Soo Jin, I'll be in the lounge for a second.

Why?

So you can talk to Mr. Im on the phone?

Yes.

But why do you want go there to talk to him? You can do it here.

If you go out, you have to disinfect before you come inside again.

I wanted to get some fresh air.

I always stay here except for when I have to get the radiation therapy.

Looks like Soo Jin doesn't want her mom to leave her today.

She will feel tired and sensitive at this stage.

I'm sorry. I won't go.

You can talk to him on the phone.

Right here.

It's okay.

Like I told you before, even though you're from the prosecutor's office

I can't tell you who the donor is.

It's Jang Tae San, isn't it?

Does Detective Im know about this?

This is a very important matter for Jang Tae San's case.

Does Detective Im know that Jang Tae San is Soo Jin's donor?

Detective Im doesn't know.

He doesn't know...

Then if Jang Tae San dies, the child will...

Will the child die too?

Help me. Help me!

Stay still!

This is a medicinal plant that will quickly stop the bleeding and numb the pain.

I applied another herb while I was extracting the bullet from your back.

Sir, what happened was...

Why I got shot was...

Why didn't you kill me then?

What?

I heard you went to jail instead of Moon Il Suk because you couldn't kill me.

Are you...

[Seoul, 2005]

Jang Tae San, he's going to where you are now! Get him!

I'm Han Chi Gook and I'm still alive because of you.

You disappeared after that and you've been living here like this ever since?

Why didn't you kill me then?

I brought you here to ask you this. Otherwise, I would've left you there.

I noticed you because you're on TV every day and everyone's talking about you.

I've been dying to know why.

Why didn't you kill me?

Because of my mom.

Mom, I bought ice cream.

I bought one for you too.

Your mom committed suicide?

And that blood...

The smell of the blood...

- I still remember it. - Then how did you kill that woman?

You also killed your roommate.

When you're that scared of blood?

They're saying I killed Man Suk too?

No. I did not kill anybody.

- Then who did? - Moon Il Suk.

He killed both of them and put the guilt on me.

Moon Il Suk?

Yes.

He put the blame on me at first.

But he's trying to kill me now.

I don't know what relationship he and Oh Mi Sook had.

I think Mi Sook filmed something with a camera.

- And she pawned the camera to me... - Stop. Get out.

- What? - I saved your life. Now get out!

Mr. Han...

If I knew Moon Il Suk was behind this, I would have never brought you here.

Leave now.

- Mr. Han... - Get out right now.

- Get out! - Mister, if he finds me, he's going to kill me.

And Soo Jin will...

Did you disinfect the wound right?

If the wound gets infected, my Soo Jin will die!

Who is Soo Jin? Your girlfriend?

My...

daughter.

Daughter?

From here to here, it's five kilometers.

It will take two to three hours to search.

I think Jang Tae San jumped off about here.

If you consider the speed of the water there

he'll be swept away to Youngdeungpo in one hour.

Then we'll have to expand our search area to here.

That's only if he's drowned to death.

There was heavy rain, the river rose, and he got shot.

It would be hard for him to still be alive now.

I don't know where he got shot but

the valley is full of rocks.

Suppose he's still alive, where's the closest town from there?

There's a rafting store and some houses nearby.

Other police are checking passersby, right?

They're inspecting every car, even cultivators. He won't be able to escape this time.

Get a list of people who live in that town this time.

And make sure to check every person's identification. Even tourists.

He won't take people hostage since he got shot. Make sure they search every house.

Also check their first aid kits.

If he blocked Jang Tae San from being shot, he must be from Moon Il Suk's gang.

Who was sent?

What if Jang Tae San got caught already?

[Do Sang Hoon]

Sang Hoon, you said no one from Hwang Dae Joon's gang is missing, right?

Detective Im shot Jang Tae San

but somebody hit Detective Im with a slingshot.

Detective Im shot Jang Tae San?

I know there is a spy for Moon Il Suk in the police but I don't know who it is.

- I think we would have to... - Prosecutor...

Listen to me first.

Seo In Hye is Im Seung Woo's fiancee.

What does that mean? Why is his fiancee looking for Jang Tae San?

Because her daughter's father is Jang Tae San.

What did you just say?

- Jang Tae San has a daughter? - Yes.

But his daughter's mom is Detective Im's fiancee.

How is this...

He's a scumbag, down to his bones! I'm going to catch Jang Tae San no matter what.

He knew about the relationship between her and Jang Tae San.

This is why he was being so sensitive about him.

There's more.

Bone marrow transplant?

Now we know why Jang Tae San escaped.

So he killed Mi Sook but escaped to save his daughter's life?

The 26th is the day for the transplant. If he can't give the child his marrow, she dies too.

Detective Im shot him even when he knew about that?

No. Detective Im doesn't know who the donor is.

But why hasn't Seo In Hye told Detective Im about this?

He sees the girl as his own daughter. He could have helped Jang Tae San.

Could she have contacted Jang Tae San?

Sang Hoon, go to the doctor and make sure she doesn't tell Detective Im about this.

If he knows, the spy will know. Then Moon Il Suk will find out too.

Then the child will be in danger.

Go talk to the doctor...

and meet with the Chief.

He cultivates herbs during the day time.

And during the summer, he fixes broken plumbing.

He can't hear things very well.

Does he live alone?

Yes.

Yes, Chief. I'm questioning people in town. I'm not getting anything though.

Detective Im? He's inside. The service here isn't good so the phone's not working well.

It's probably hard for you to do, isn't it?

You think I can do that?

How am I supposed to get a writ for that?

Do you think that makes sense?

- Then how about this...? - What? What? What? What?

Park Jae Kyung is a swamp.

I told you. I can't tell you President Moon's schedule.

This is really important!

If you leave a message, I'll give it to him tomorrow morning.

- Excuse me. Tomorrow morning? - He won't be back in the office today.

What?

- What should we do? - I don't know, you idiot!

I see something here.

This is Jang Tae San's shirt. He probably ran on the rocks. Look at this.

The shirt is so ruined! He probably got badly hurt.

If he got shot in the back, it's not a fatal injury, right?

Where was that shirt found ?

The shirt was here and the shoe was here.

- Then his body has gone way downstream by now. - Only the shirt and shoe were found.

You can't be so sure he's dead.

Don't you see that the shirt is turned inside out?

There are many drowning accidents here, right? What do you think?

The upstream river current took off that shirt without any resistance.

Then..

- Like this? - Yes.

He was probably dead by the middle of the valley.

I guess he wanted to live so badly that he grabbed any rock he saw.

It's in tatters.

We should find his body until it gets too late.

Jang Tae San, are you really dead?

Did you really die, leaving your daughter behind?

You bastard... You bastard!

Are you dead here or were you killed by someone?

What about your daughter?

You crazy bastard.

You're supposed to donate your marrow to your daughter but you murdered people?

He wants to give his bone marrow to his daughter.

But he murdered people just because he was told to?

- Come up. - Okay.

You didn't bring the police here, right?

There are some snakes living there. Do what you want.

Snakes?

You said you were going out to buy some antibiotics. What took you so long?

Did you not get it?

Thank you.

I made it look like you were dead. So get dressed and leave.

All the police went downstream to find your dead body. No more inspection here.

I can't get out of here with this wound.

You don't have a fever and the bullet didn't go through your bone so you're fine.

These antibiotics will last you a week. You need to endure the pain.

Mr. Han, you heard what happened to me.

How can you just...

You think the person who lit a bomb in the mountain and killed your friend won't be here to find you?

If your dead body isn't found, Moon Il Suk will look inside every honey bucket in this town.

Instead of that, please just let me hide here for ten days. Just ten days.

I'll stay in there like a dead body.

I know I don't have anything left for myself.

But I don't want to get killed by him just because of you.

Who's going to search the storage over there?

Why would you expect me to help you? Who are you for me to help you?

Did you rely on me to escape?

But still... I saved your life.

How could you tell me to get out of here with this wound?

Whether you have the camera or not and whether you saw what's in the camera or not

Moon Il Suk will kill you.

He will kill you because you know that.

You're telling me to leave while knowing that?

If I get caught, my kid will die too!

I don't care if your kid dies or not.

- What did you say? - This bastard.

Get out! You're so stupid you got victimized not once but three times!

Jin Yang Building is being taken as security now, isn't it?

And you're telling me to pay eight billion won for that building in two days...

I don't know what to say.

That's why after seeing me, you should cut me some slack.

You can sell the Yoo Jin Gas stocks you have.

But I'm kind of close to President Kim Yoo Jin.

He's a cousin.

He has to protect the stocks.

How about you place that stock for security?

I heard Mr. Oh will be summoned for an accusation of embezzlement.

Where did you hear...

Rumors travel faster than the wind, you know.

Your company isn't ruining itself, is it?

Mr. Oh, what are you going to do?

[Kim]

Ten kilometers down? Wow, this bastard's headed right towards his death, huh?

Then what about the camera?

You didn't find the camera is yet.

I apologize.

Don't leave there until his dead body is found.

Understood.

- President Moon... - If Jang Tae San is dead...

The camera. How should I find it?

Don't worry about it. It's a customized camera. You can't see the video that easily.

Would that hide the video forever?

The password is there to be unlocked.

If it's locked by a password, somebody might unlock it and watch it!

I was convincing Mr. Oh.

Did he say he will place the stocks for security?

The camera wasn't in the house and nobody knows where it is.

I can't ask a question to a dead body.

Who the hell shot Jang Tae San?

President Moon...

Jo Seo Hee will be okay if she leaves the country but I have to carry a time bomb.

I'll investigate people around Jang Tae San.

I'll finish the meeting soon. Call Dae Joon now.

Sir. Sir!

- We found it! - Did you find the person who customized the camera?

No, not that. We found Jang Tae San's girl!

What? You found who?

The escapee, Jang Tae San, was shot by the police and fell down from a cliff.

He escaped while being sent to a prosecutor for murdering a woman named Oh Mi Sook...

and also murdered his roommate after that.

Even if Jang Tae San is really dead

this isn't the end.

Moon Il Suk. Jo Seo Hee...

It will end only if I die.

Or if you two die...

I'm not going to end it like this.

The police assumed the death of the escapee, Jang Tae San.

Now they're working on finding his body.

On the day of the incident, the speed of the water was quickened by the heavy rain

and considering there were many rocks in the valley, he is assumed dead.

His shirt and shoe were found 10km from where he was shot which makes his death more likely.

Yes. She will be here soon.

Yes, sir.

I got a call from the District Attorney.

He wants to see me, doesn't he?

He called me because you didn't answer his call.

Guys, wake up! Go bring Detective Im now. You bastards...

I want you to find the dead body and then come back to Seoul.

- I was planning on doing that. - Good.

You have to find Jang Tae San's dead body, which you shot.

Detective Im, are you really going to stay here?

Detective Im, what's with you? You had a reason to shoot him.

Come with us and get some rest.

So we can complete this case.

Take good care of the Chief. Don't fall asleep while driving.

Please go ahead.

[Fathers and Children Painting Competition]

What's all that? Didn't you bring your car?

I brought all this so I can brag about it to Soo Jin.

Soo Jin, I brought camping equipment!

What's with that look?

You want to participate in that painting competition? I can go with you. I'll just take a day off.

Oh, it's today.

Let's go! I'll take you there.

I have to go there with my dad.

Mr. Im, you're not my dad yet.

My real dad is dead.

Yes. I'm not your dad yet and your real dad is in heaven.

You're right.

You must be so sad.

What can I do? I like camping too.

Then how about we do this?

Go there with me and draw your dad.

I don't even know what my dad looks like.

What you draw is your dad because he's in your heart.

What if they ask me who you are?

Me?

I'm...

your bodyguard. Your dad sent me here so I can protect you. Bodyguard!

- Bodyguard? - That's right!

I promised your mom that I'd take care of you while she's gone for a seminar. So I'm your bodyguard.

If you marry my mom, I'm going to call you Dad.

Really?

Really? I'm so happy.

- Yes, Father. - Where are you now?

Come here and report to me what happened.

Mr. Im is such a great man.

He does everything for me instead of you and he's so nice to me.

Whenever he sees Mom, he smiles.

He likes her so much.

If I knew you were alive

I would've told him not to like Mom.

Dad, do you know how I found out that you were alive?

Because I found this picture.

[Tae San and In Hye 2009.05]

On the day Mom decided to marry Mr. Im, she tore up this picture and threw it away.

But usually, people burn a dead person's picture.

I saw that on a drama.

By the way, what did you do wrong to Mom?

Whenever I ask Mom about you, she cries before she sleeps.

I think she hates you so much.

But I like you, Dad.

- Let me inspect your car. - Sure.

- Is it okay? - Yeah.

Thank you.

Sure. Bye.

I was used by Moon Il Suk because I didn't know who he was.

But you knew who he was and still got used. You even worked for him.

So I don't want to get killed because of you so you take care of your own business.

If I had killed you at that time, this wouldn't have happened to me.

Right?

I did not blindly allow myself to get set up.

If I didn't go to prison instead of Moon Il Suk, they said they were going to kill In Hye.

You know him, right? He really kills people if he intends to.

Mr. Han, you said your life's miserable, right?

But you don't want to die, right?

It's the same for me.

There was no reason for me to live...

after I broke up with In Hye because of Moon Il Suk

I was totally fine with dying either today or tomorrow.

That's how I lived.

At that time, I only thought of In Hye. Nothing else.

I didn't think of Soo Jin.

I just wanted In Hye to live her life well.

If she gave birth to Soo Jin, I thought In Hye would think of her as a burden like my mom did about me.

I pushed her into an operation room so she could get an abortion.

I killed Soo Jin once already. I can't kill her again!

Just ten days! Can't you do at least that for me?

If I get the surgery and come out from the operating room, Moon Il Suk will be waiting.

I'll let him kill me then.

You think he's going to find you and kill you just because you hid me for ten days?

You're going to go to Moon Il Suk and let him kill you?

I have to. What else can I do?

I'm okay to die after that.

A bastard like me...

isn't scared of death. I won't cling to life anymore.

But...

I'm so scared that I can't save my little baby's life.

Please let me stay in your storage for ten days.

Only for ten days.

I'll stay there like a dead body!

You don't have to feed me.

Move your arms you idiot. Your wound might get worse.

Go to Busan. There's a ship that goes to the Philippines.

Go stay there for ten days. You get the surgery on 26th, right?

Come back to Incheon that day at midnight.

Are you telling me to smuggle myself?

If you're a target of Moon Il Suk, you can't stay in the country.

His connections are so wide. There's no social ranking that's not connected to him.

Drowning accidents are common here. It'll take 3 to 4 days to find a dead body.

During that time, the inspectors will be slacking. Take advantage of that.

Sleep here tonight and leave tomorrow morning. I'll let you borrow my truck.

Are you telling me to drive?

What if the inspectors notice who I am?

I won't let that happen.

The escapee, Mr. Jang, kept on running away from the police to the mountain.

And while chasing him, the police shot the escapee.

The police assumes he is dead by now and they're looking for his body.

They really think I'm dead.

Dad!

What can we do? Is there any other way?

You know we can't stop the preoperative treatment now.

People say he might be dead. I can't let her keep getting the treatment.

If I stop the treatment, she will get infected easily.

I'll figure something out. Calm down, okay?

No... No. Doctor, I can't... My little baby...

I can't live without Soo Jin. You know that.

I relied on Soo Jin. You know how sweet she is.

If you had told Seung Woo about this earlier, this might not have happened.

I know. I shouldn't have trusted Jang Tae Sang. I should've told him.

If I had, Seung Woo probably would've stopped the police from shooting Tae San.

What should I do? It's all my fault.

What should I do? What if something happens to Soo Jin?

What am I supposed to do, Doctor?

In Hye!

In Hye! In Hye!

You even shot the escapee and still couldn't catch him? You lost him twice!

I'm sorry.

Did you even want to catch him?

Did you even concentrate on this case? Were you distracted by something else?

What are you talking about?

Were you distracted by In Hye's daugther's surgery?

No, I wasn't.

Don't you know how many people are paying attention to you?

You became a detective after giving up becoming a doctor.

And I allowed you to marry In Hye who is a single mom with a daughter.

If I did that...

When you approved my marriage, you promised me not to talk about that.

You're right. I apologize for that.

I was being sensitive because people talk about the shooting like it was an excessive confrontation.

It wasn't an excessive confrontation.

If he jumped off from the cliff, I would've lost him again.

I won't tell people that you're the one who shot the escapee. Submit a written apology.

Okay.

So how's Soo Jin's surgery going?

I'm going to go visit her with your mom this weekend.

Sure.

Let's get ready for the radiation therapy!

I'm done getting ready already!

So you are.

Let's go.

Hello, this is the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation ward.

Hi, may I talk to Patient Seo Soo Jin's guardian, Seo In Hye?

She went down for Soo Jin's radiation therapy.

I see. Alright, thank you.

It's a poisonous plant. It won't harm you though. If you wash it away with water, it'll get better.

Mom.

Soo Jin!

I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Soo Jin.

Mom, my shoe.

Here.

Let's hurry and go to the room.

- I want to see you while we go. - Okay.

Don't jump, Soo Jin. You'll get more tired. Come on.

Mom, your phone is ringing. Answer the phone.

Hello?

It's me.

I'll call you again in five minutes.

People are shaking with anxiety because of him! How could you lose him like that twice?

Let me find his body and make a report for Go Man Suk's case.

- I'll take care of that. - Let her take care of it for one more week.

Mr. Han!

If she gets fired even before she completes the case

she will blame us forever.

Prosecutor, we got the signal.

Hello?

Yeah. You were so worried, weren't you?

You're alive? What happened? I heard you got shot!

Not everybody gets killed by a gun.

- I told you I'm not going to die. - What about the wound? Did it get infected?

It's okay. I got cured.

I took an antibiotic too.

I told you I would keep this promise.

You said you were going to turn yourself in if you found the evidence. Did you find it?

- I couldn't. - Turn yourself in now! Where are you?

If I do, I'll get killed.

- So... - I won't let you die.

There's somebody who can help you. My finance is..

I almost got killed in jail!

- What? - That's why I escaped.

And I can't turn myself in with empty hands.

I can't trust anybody. I shouldn't trust anybody.

That's the situation I'm in now.

What are you talking about?

That's why I made it look like I'm dead.

While they think I'm dead

I'm going to get on a ship that goes to the Philippines tonight.

I'll be back before the surgery date. Don't worry.

Are you saying you're smuggling...?

Hold on.

Tell me again. Are you saying you're smuggling yourself into the Philippines?

Really? Are you?

What if you can't come back? What if you can't?

No. Where are you now? Where are you!

Do you even want Soo Jin to live?

Are you serious right now?

You think I escaped because I'm bored and got shot while playing hide and seek?

No, I don't but...

Then shut up and wait.

Don't ever tell anybody about the relationship between me and Soo Jin...

if you want her to live.

Is that the only way?

I want to save Soo Jin's life.

Whether you believe or not

even if I have to die, I want to save her life before I die.

I'm sorry that I'm living like this.

Take care of Soo Jin. Bye.

Wait.

You're Soo Jin's father...

so don't die.

While they think I'm dead

I'm going to get on a ship that goes to the Philippines tonight.

I'll be back on the surgery date. So don't worry.

[Jin Il Do]

Hello.

- It's been a while since I came here. - Give us 3 bottles of beer and 1 bottle of coke.

And give us french fries and croquettes.

And one more bottle of sprite.

Yes, Prosecutor.

We're about to drink some beer. What is it?

That's nonsense. Pull yourself together!

- It feels so good. - I'm tired as hell!

Why do I have to join you guys here? I can't drink.

- Sit up straight. - You have something to tell us, don't you?

Did you hear anything about Detective Im? Is he doing okay with his fiancee?

Chief, we've been chasing Jang Tae San for five days.

He was too busy.

Go home and sleep for two hours and go check up on In Hye.

And you find out the relationship between Oh Mi Sook and Prosecutor Park.

Yes, sir.

You're suspicious about something, aren't you? I got the same feeling as well.

When Oh MI Sook was killed, Prosecutor Park came...

Where's Detective Im?

I heard you asked Il Do where were. You asked so you could see Detective Im?

You made him find the dead body.

First, let me say that I am very sorry.

After 30 minutes, your face will start to swell up.

[A huge mountain]

Ting Ting, if I sleep ten more nights, I can meet you.

I can meet Dad too.

Hello?

Is Soo Jin there?

Yes, this is her.

- So you're Soo Jin. - Yes, who are you?

Is your dad's name Jang Tae San?

Yes!

Subtitles by DramaFever

So go without Detective Im.

I don't want him to get emotional.

Prosecutor Park Jae Kyung's team are going without Detective Im.

- One day, - I'm sorry, I'm really busy now.

A mountain and a sun loved each other.

- They loved each other so much but... - Excuse me! This one!

But they broke up. Actually, mountain loved Hye so much that he didn't sleep.

No. No. No. No!

Catch and kill both of them!

Jang Tae San, I'm arresting you for murdering Oh Mi Sook and Go Man Suk.
