what to do or how to control me.

She knew that I wasn't on drugs.

I was a straight A student.

She felt that I was promiscuous

even when
I wasn't doing anything.

I remember you going
away because Jen went first.

Yep, I went three times.

The first time I got sent away,

I was in seventh grade.

That was a drug rehab.

I had never done
drugs or drank any alcohol.

They ended up sending
me home after a week because

they realized I had
no business being there.

Second place was like
a month and a half, two months.

That one was really rough.

But then the third
place was the worst.

That was the one that my
mom ended up giving partial

custody to the state because
of her insurance stopped paying.

And she had me there
for like a little over a year.

And then one day, this.

Over a year?
- Over a year.

I didn't go home.
- What grade were you in?

Ninth. It was really
not normal and not a good place.

The third time
that I was sent away was what

my mom referred to
as a boarding school.

It wasn't a boarding school.

There was children...

cutting themselves,
trying to commit suicide.

There was...

male and female predators.

They would restrain kids there.

The state said,
all right, we're gonna take

100% control of your daughter.

She didn't want
to lose that custody.

And she decided
that day I was all better.

I really tried
to block all of this out

because it was such
a bad time in my life.

And I was like, we're suicidal.

Many times for me...

that like, death was
better than living with her.

It hurts a lot to have no one
that loves you growing up.

I'm really sad.
I really had no idea about this.

A lot of people don't.

I went to high school with
Jo-Ellen and Jen.

When they left during,
like the mid-year,

it was definitely talked about,

but it's almost like something
we didn't want to touch.

We didn't want to
ask too many questions.

I didn't want to overstep
boundaries. Everyone noticed.

We just, you know,
we just didn't know why.

It was a really hard childhood.

And like, hearing everything
that you said yesterday

hit home because I didn't know.

For some reason, like,
that's what I got stuck with

for a father.

My life was not easy.

From what I remember,
my father left us homeless.

It hits hard because you see
your kids and you're like,

And I just look
at my daughter and I'm

like, how did he do this
to me?

How did he never want to
see me again?

I feel like

maybe I didn't want to

I definitely have relationship
issues because of my father.

I always want to leave the guy

it is gonna make it better,

I started to feel like

I was coming down with something
