I was on my way to the town of Monument to do some chores for the train, get some iron

work, order some supplies, and mail a sheaf of letters, and then I had a whole week off

to do as I pleased, and it was sure welcome.

It had rough going for quite a while, sickness, breakdowns, storms, but now the trail was

clear, the weather was dry, and I was on my own.
