to clear out the debris

from the evacuation vent

and locate a button
that will allow all teams

and the neutralized intruder

to exit
the ventilation system.

is gonna be two people.

it's gonna be the two people

to clear out the cables.

I really didn't know when
we came across this intruder what was gonna happen.

were trying to get the air duct screen off.

It took a long, long time
to get all of the screws out.

That put me into sheer panic.

Ten minutes
until mission failure.

For this mission,
I got paired up with Ariel of all people.

We both really
put everything aside

and just focused on the task.

Yeah, maybe I was
a little surprised.

We have not found the button.

- Cat: What?

Ariel was kind of freaking out
just a little bit.

Tinashe: Nine minutes.

Adam: I'm trying to figure out
where this button could be

because if we don't push
these buttons, it's over.

Paul:
Go down to the bottom, all the way.

You might have to go down more.

Paul: After I pulled
the cables out the ducts,

I kind of sat there while
everybody else went to work.

So I had the least
responsibility,

and I'm just like,
"Not again. Not again."

I'm probably gonna end up
on bottom three.

Search everywhere, guys.

The cons of being
a base commander,

I mean, it's the elephant
in the room.

If we fail the mission,

for elimination possibly.

to do it for my team.

only I made it

Adam, he had to go up
and jump up an air duct

and hit the fan, which stopped
the fan on my end.

I could run through and hit
the button on the outside,

which actually stopped
Ariel and Lance's fan

- so they could get out.
- Okay, now I've got it.

Team two,
fan deactivated. - Let's go!

Come on, you got it!
Let's go.

I found the button
to stop the fan.

Cat pushed the other button
to stop both of the fans.

We were the reason that
you could make it through,

and I feel like
that is a great reason to be mission critical.

to open the exit hatch.

Ariel: The first time
I am on a team with Lance,

I got put in the bottom three,
and I didn't particularly feel that was fair.

I felt it was a little personal.

This was not a challenge
that was easy for me at all,

and I really jumped in
with no hesitation.

And I literally
gave it everything,

which is why I was even
a little bit more upset

- that I was in the bottom.
- Oh, gosh.

I've been in the bottom three
ever since I've been here.

This gonna be my final day.

I feel like I have really
tried to do everything

that I can possibly do for us
to survive here on Mars.

I feel like I've been
very fair and honest.

Everybody here was
mission critical to some degree.

I probably had the lesser role
than everybody.

You know, I only can do
what I was asked.

But, you know, you're put in
the positions you're put in,

and, you know, these two,
they were outstanding.

you gotta make your decisions.

I did everything

based on the task,
on what I was given,

but I will fully confess,
life on Mars it's not easy.

12 strangers in a room

I'm really struggling with.

And so I think going forward
that will be a liability,

not just for myself,
but also for the team.

to exit the project.

but we all know it can be

I know that especially

tough emotionally

to get to this point.

The hardest part for me

was just
the social component.

I'm not a social person.

I didn't have any expectations
about being popular...

..but every minute
of every day

that I've been here,

But I'm happy with my decision.
