That's some thick [bleep]
out there, man.

This is gonna be hard
to navigate.

It's really thick,
dense vegetation.

You can't see two or three feet
in front of you.

So the wildlife here,
you'll never see 'em coming.

It is totally crazy to be
thinking that I'm gonna be

out here naked for 21 days.

Every minute will be
a challenge,

and it's a little
chilly right now, too,

and so I'm just thinking

about how this could either get
warmer during the day

or a lot colder at night.

Located on the southwest coast
of Africa,

Namibia and the Kalahari Desert

are one of the most sparsely
populated areas in the world.

It is also one of the driest,

averaging just 10 inches
of rain annually.

The vast red sand
of the Kalahari extends

over 350,000 square miles
and is nearly devoid

of natural surface water.

Now, as winter approaches,
water becomes even more scarce,

forcing Namibia's wildlife

to compete
for a dwindling supply.

Those that are unable
to find water

do not survive the season.

I guess it's time
to get naked.

When my partner learns that
I've tried this challenge twice

and failed twice, they're
gonna be like, "Oh, great.

He's gonna leave me stranded
out here."

I can't wait
to show 'em different.

more time outdoors.

I can hunt.
I can track.

Love fishing.

I have no doubt
that I'm prepared for this.

This is
my last and final chance.

I really don't have
much concern

that Brandon has tapped twice.

I'm more concerned
about how he's feeling going

into this challenge right now
where we are, and he seems like,

he's got great energy,
and so that's all I'm--

all I'm focused on.

It is not.
I did 14 days in Mexico.

My two-week challenge in Mexico
was a fan challenge.

The weather was beautiful.
We had some protein.

We got a shrimp.

We had a very
positive experience.

We made it!

This time around,
I want it hard and tough.

I am walking to my morning shift
at the hospital.

Because as a trauma ICU nurse,
I ask patience to do

impossible things.
And I also have that in me.

I see our bags.

Me not completing the previous
two challenges

didn't faze her at all.

That's a big relief,
because one of my biggest fears

out here is letting
my partner down.

- This is your bow?

I am blown away that we have
arrows and a bow

that you know how to use.

- I have a very nice machete.

In addition to their personal
survival items,

due to the intensely cold
winter temperatures,

they receive
two springbok hides...

- With twine on them.

It's actually gonna be
seriously cold.

I mean, it's winter.

...as well as the standard
fire starter,

pot to boil water, and map.

I do see water.

nearly four miles,

to reach the closest
water source.

They must remain vigilant

for aggressive herds
of African elephants

that have become stressed
from the dry season's

lack of water and resources.

It's a big hole.

So now we gotta keep
our heads on the swivel for,

And it was much colder

but now I'm feeling the heat.

the bushmen all out here,

they stayed in constant
movement with the wildlife.

pretty much hinders
our ability to continue

and keep up with the wildlife.

As a hunter, you have
to process the land.

So I'm just watching
the water hole and looking

at the wildlife
until I figure out, you know,

what animals are here
and where they're going.

It's something
just swam across, stopped,

and then it went down.
Might be a terrapin in there.

Oh, right over the top of him.

They only stick their head up
about that much,

so that's my visual.

He went down as soon
as I pulled back.

I know I hit it.

I mean, that was pretty much
right there on him.

I heard the thud of the arrow
on the shell.

The shell was just too hard,

and the arrow just bounced
off of it.

That one went right
over the top of him.

I'm hunting in Africa.
That is cool.

My dad was a serious hunter.

And growing up, he'd watch
Discovery Channel documentaries.

And we would sit there,
and he'd be like,

"How cool would it be
to be out here?"

Well, guess what, Dad?
I'm here.

I couldn't go anywhere without
him telling every single person,

"My son was
on 'Naked and Afraid.'"

He didn't care
that I didn't complete it.

Just the fact that I attempted
this challenge,

he thought that was awesome.

My father passed away
from suicide

a couple of years ago.

The fact that I'm out here
doing this again

and that I'm not gonna give up,

I think he would be
proud of that.

I owe it to him.

Trying to shoot a terrapin
that's in the water

with a bow and arrow is
very hard.

I'm gonna have to be very,
very patient.

It's not gonna come easy

I'm seeing these birds
and all I can think about is

They seem to be coming in
for some mineral in the soil,

but that distance,
it's like Robin Hood

splitting an arrow.

But that possibility is
something that we'll take.

I just took my first shot
today, a pigeon.

I missed it about so much.

Yeah, it's been tough,
but I still remain hopeful.

to catch a terrapin.

This environment is tougher
than I expected,

And this is what I really wanna
prove that I can survive.

My dad did teach me how
to build minnow traps.

It's not the same thing,
but it's worth a shot.

I'm doing a little modification
'cause I can't drive

a school of terrapin in here.

Mylee's improvised trap
is formed by digging

a shallow V-shaped inlet.

Bait is used to encourage
terrapin to enter the channel.

Although the trap must be
manned to be effective,

this design allows the hunter
to remain on land,

quickening their strike.

It's worth a shot.

For terrapin bait,
we have a lot of corn crickets

everywhere, and terrapins
are carnivorous, so I think that

we should try to use them
for bait.

I'm sorry.

You have a greater purpose,
To get me a terrapin.

It's hard to beat
a corn cricket.

My plan is
to put the corn crickets

and all their guts
in my little trap.

And I'm hoping a terrapin will
smell the guts and come eat it.

And so instinctually,
I jumped up and fired a shot

that I was not ready for
because the warthog had not even

stopped to drink yet.

And I missed.
I blew the opportunity

for food.

I took a shot on him
when he came up

as close as we can get him,
and I missed.

Like, I cost us a meal that
probably could have lasted us

until the very end.

That's a weight that, you know,

that's heavy on my shoulders
on that one.

I screwed us on that,
and it's frustrating.

I'll take it to 'em.

The boys are down at the blind.

They're hunting every day.

But Jolie and I, we're doing
these really hard tasks

that don't sound as sexy,
but they're absolutely critical

to our survival.
Like, we have to have water.

We have to have firewood.

We have to empty out the ash
so we can be warm.

But it's just,
it's very labor-intensive,

especially when you haven't
eaten for as long as we have.

It just, it really will,
it'll take it out of you.

Are they staying down there
till sundown?

it's a lot, you know?

Everybody's really
getting hungry now.

The hunting in these conditions
is not hunting

My body's starting to like
really kind of shut down a bit

because of the lack of food.

Today just really sucks.

We're just so, so, so weak.

And then the weakness
making you just sit around.

And then when you sit around,
you're just in your thoughts.

We just need to eat, man.

Kind of spun out in my brain

a little bit.

You don't wanna do that.

Because you just think of all
the reasons that you don't need

to be here.

And it's really easy to come up
with reasons to not be here.

Like, really easy.

I'm really hungry.

I'm definitely struggling
the most I've struggled today.

Like, Namibia is hard.
This is hard.

I just don't have it in me.

Like, the tank's pretty empty.

My partner, Jolie,
seeing her in a spot of bother,

to be quite honest, it really
makes me scared and concerned

because, you know,
having learned

from our previous challenge,
our moments of weakness is all

it takes to remove you
from this challenge.

I mean, we need food.

we need something.

We're trying.

It's just so difficult.

My body's just deteriorating.

This is a long time
to go without food.

With so much energy going

like this.

a day 15 in a challenge,

so we've been looking forward
to this milestone.

My goal is to get to the end.

So I'm just gonna dig deep
and just focus on getting

to that end line.

I think from
a hunting perspective,

So me and Kyle decided
we're gonna branch out,

we're gonna do some scouting,

probably build a new blind.

I wouldn't mind taking
an evening kind of shift

if you wanna take
a morning shift.

And then no more
hunting together.

we're in the final stretch,

and I firmly believe
it's just a matter of time

before we end up
with something.

almost three weeks now.

I mean, this is the longest
I've ever gone without food

in my life.

I think Brandon and I are both
experiencing the same kind

of frustration.

we're just not getting it right.

And it just means like
just fed up.

in South Africa.

which translates
to "antelope dung spit."

You would find
dry antelope dung,

and then you would spit it
as far as possible.

the reality of it is

of sitting around,

It's like this extended,
prolonged suffering.

which is extremely sad for me.

the survival challenge is

just pushing through.

but it's helped me
overcome a different aspect

of the challenge that
I didn't anticipate,

and that's the hunger.

and must keep a careful eye
out for predators,

such as lions and cheetahs,
that would see them

as easy prey.

my big-girl challenge.

I never expected
the partnership situation.

But Kyle and I, that friendship
is definitely forged

in a lot of support.

It is the most treasured thing
I am taking out

of this challenge for sure.

Jolie had only 100 calories
and lost 25 pounds.

Her PSR climbs to 7.4.

That's where we were, 21 days.

Biggest adventure
of my whole life.

I've thought about some
of my patients a lot while I was

out here, especially
when I was so hungry.

So low, so down.

And at any moment,

I had the ability
to tap out, right?

At any moment, I had
the ability to make this stop.

And I feel like I already had
a lot of empathy as a nurse,

but I come back
with even more now.

Mylee consumed just
200 calories

and lost 21 pounds.

Her PSR rises to 7.4.

This is the coolest thing
I've ever done in my life.

The most difficult,
the most challenging.

With just
100 calories consumed,

Kyle lost 40 pounds.

His PSR increases to 6.8.
