So Khloe's birthday's this weekend, and I feel like... if

last year, Kourtney found out it started from the Santa Susana

Field Lab. This site is extremely toxic and

could be really damaging people's health.

We are just miles away from this place.

I remember hearing those stories about there's a street‐‐

everyone on the street is sick. Lisa Miles has been one of my

mom's best friends since before I was even born.

And her husband, who we were all extremely close to, for the past

six years has been really sick. So today, we are meeting with

this group of moms that has been fighting this issue for years.

I think it's really important that we get more information and

see what we can do to actually help.

>> MELISSA: Thank you so much for having us.

>> STACY: Yes. >> KOURTNEY: Of course.

I think we both wanted to get more information, just about,

you know, what's really going on.

>> DENISE: So, the Santa Susana story is complicated, because

there are different responsible parties that have been involved.

There's widespread contamination in the soil, in the groundwater

and in the surface water. NASA is responsible for cleaning

up areas where the rocket engine testing occurred, which has

heavy chemical contamination. The Department of Energy is

responsible for cleaning up the area where the nuclear work

occurred, but Boeing owns most of the site.

In 2010, they said it was gonna be cleaned up; by 2017, they

haven't even started. >> MELISSA: And people started

to realize this isn't just scientists arguing over little

insignificant facts, this is actually hurting people and

children. My daughter's a two‐time cancer

survivor and I really feel like the site gave her her cancer.

>> KIM: I'm so sorry. How old is your daughter?

>> MELISSA: She's nine now. >> KIM: Oh, wow.

>> MELISSA: Yeah. >> KOURTNEY: Is she cancer‐free

now? >> MELISSA: She is right now.

>> MELISSA: Yeah, and we know 54 other kids in our community with

many people really want it cleaned up.

and latest fork is supposed to be."

I'm not even a dog person. So do you remember where we got

puppies with Gabbana's bloodline.

Like, how cool. So I reached out to him, and I

bought a dog for Khloe as a surprise.

I really feel bad that I'm not gonna be here for Khloe's

birthday party, so what better time to give her the gift of a

puppy that will bring her so much joy.

It is so sweet. Look at this one.

After going through a rough time this year, I know it'll mean a

lot to her. >> KIM: I think it is the

>> KOURTNEY: So this event is supposed to put pressure on the

elected officials. 'Cause they've already agreed to

do the cleanup, but they just haven't done it.

>> KIM: After talking to the moms and Senator Stern, I

realize how serious this really is.

And I just think it's super important that we bring

awareness to this. So, today I'm gonna go to this

event called Rock the Cleanup, and it is an event that the moms

have put together so that we can see what we can do to help.

I actually met your sister. Um, one time, she came to the

hospital and visited my daughter, Hazel.

>> KOURTNEY: Aw. >> LAUREN: And she brought a

bunch of little gifts for her, like a space thing to put on the

wall, and she was just so sweet. >> KOURTNEY: Khloe?

>> LAUREN: No, it was Kylie. And then she came back and wrote

a special note for Hazel, 'cause she really connected to her.

This is Hazel. (chuckles) >> KIM/KOURTNEY: Aw.

>> LAUREN: So, anyway, but I'm really thankful you guys are

here and... >> KIM: Aw, thank you.

>> LAUREN: ...speaking for our kids.

She went through treat‐‐ treatment with Hazel.

That's how they got to know each other.

>> KOURTNEY: What'd you say? >> KIM: "60 years has been way

too long. We know you care to help the

families that are all affected by the Santa Susana Field Lab.

Please clean up the site." >> STACY: Today, we're going to

create art as a symbol of our unity and our community.

>> MELISSA: We've been hurt and divided for years, and we want

to heal our community. (applause)

I want my friend Lauren to share a little bit of her story and

why she got involved. >> LAUREN: My daughter, Hazel,

she was two years old in 2013, and they found a Nerf

football‐sized tumor inside her abdomen.

Within two days, we had a cancer diagnosis.

She went through 18 months of treatment‐‐ chemotherapy,

radiation, an eight‐hour tumor resection surgery, a stem cell

transplant, which led to such devastating side effects, she

ended up in the ICU for four weeks in a coma.

She almost didn't pull through, um, but she did.

She made a full recovery, and we enjoyed two and a half years of

glorious remission. And then Hazel relapsed.

And it was March of last year that she...

that she took her last breath at Children's Hospital.

(sniffling) Grace and Hazel were very close,

so... I know what it's like to lose a

child with cancer. >> KIM: That's so sad.

>> LAUREN: And nobody should ever have to face that again.

>> KIM: Hearing from these moms and just having them walk

through their pain and what they've been through with their

children, I couldn't even imagine if this was one of my

children. >> MELISSA: She comes from Katie

Hill's office. >> LAUREN: Yes.

Our representative. >> MELISSA: And this is

something that‐that you are probably aware of, but I thought

you guys would really like to see what is happening and‐and

rather quickly, too. >> KELSEY: Yeah. There are six

members of Congress, as well as Senator Dianne Feinstein, who

have submitted a letter that all three responsible parties

take effective action to ensure full cleanup in a timely manner.

>> MELISSA: You got to show the signatures.

>> KELSEY: So, we got signatures.

>> MELISSA: This is really powerful.

We've never had this before. This has never happened before.

I couldn't have a dog right now. And I think she got me a dog for

every time I said no. I mean, True is just one years

old. We just got back in the house.

I want to get her a dog when it's, like, the right time.

I'm just dealing with a lot, and it‐‐ like, three dogs is

wild to give somebody. As much as I absolutely love and

adore these puppies, I believe, if you have animals, you have to

really love them and give them a lot of attention.

They're just like babies. I just moved back into my house,

and I wanted to give True a dog, like, for Christmas when she's

older. Right now, she's kind of afraid

of dogs, and... >> SCOTT: No, she's too little.

I kind of want one. >> KHLOE: Oh, my God. No. Stop.

>> SCOTT: I just worry that my wiener, aka Hirsch, would have a

problem with it. And she's the star of my house,

in my room. It's with us all the time.

They're going to people who will love and adore them and be the

Tristan got me a necklace when I was in Connecticut.

And I go, "No! No! No! No! No!" He's like, "This is a promise

ring." I go, "A promise for you to be

nice to me as True's mom, right?"

I was like, "I really appreciate it.

I don't think I can accept it." He's like, "Just think about it.

It's yours." I go, "Not everything needs to

He gives me a card. The card is literally something

I've been, like, waiting for forever.

It was the nicest, longest card, and it was, like, in his bad

handwriting, which is what I wanted.

Like, just something tangible that I can keep.

He feels bad, and there's guilt. >> KHLOE: I go, "This is a

beautiful new you that I'm seeing.

I just don't want there to be any blurred lines or you to

being really hard on yourself, hard on him and just

overthinking everything. >> KHLOE: But, like, there's

really nothing romantic between Tristan and I, and I'm just

what it's like when you can't communicate with somebody that

you love and that you have children with, and you're doing

anything you can, and it might not be the right thing.

And I don't think you need to worry about what it means.

It's just somebody trying to get through to somebody and not
