I don't think we have a preference either way

and helping out people who are scared in their own home.

And so that's more satisfying than anything.

So we have a case.

It's about 45 minutes away from here.

- Mm-hmm. - It's a haunted farmland.

The owners there have seen about four

full-bodied apparitions.

and so we're kind of in over our heads a little bit

because we are amateurs.

or anything you could do?

Seeing an apparition can be a terrifying experience,

but this family has seen four.

That is some serious activity.

Anything that's sudden and unexpected

and so a lot of times they're staying out in the rv

After hearing about jessica's case

at the fanboy expo a few days ago,

we made plans to meet her just outside of knoxville

in the tiny town of white pine, tennessee.

oh, there she is.

We're here to help out.

Well, I brought you guys here today

because this is actually sartain springs park.

The sartain family was really prominent

in the history of white pine.

So why were they so influential?

Were they wealthy? Not necessarily wealthy.

They're just all over this area.

Do you think any of this haunting

has anything to do with that family?

I think it's definitely possible

because the house was actually built by the sartain family

and the sartains lived in that house

during your last investigation,

what did you uncover?

We were sitting upstairs on the landing,

and we actually caught a remote-control car

that they have moving several times.

- Oh. - Oh.

- That's creepy as hell. - Yeah, man.

and there's no remote control for that toy?

No, brittany and cory say that they've lost it

or thrown it out.

Well, I'd like to get over and talk with brittany and cory.

- Yeah. - Yeah.

What can you tell us about this area?

We're a small town, so we have the mall. I like shopping.

We're actually getting some more restaurants.

- I like eating. - There's some nice parks.

I love hiking.

Do you have crazy animals around here?

Raccoons.

Those crazy raccoons.

we have them in new England, too, yeah.

Yeah, they go through our garbage, too.

so this is all the homeowners' land here?

Yes, it is.

The homeowners have over 40 acres of land

and a lot of animals.

They also have a lot of paranormal activity

that is making one of the homeowners,

who is a veteran, feel unsafe in his own house.

I wonder if it's possible the sartains could be behind

the disturbances that have this family on edge.

you all have been experiencing here.

Dealing with the unexpected is one of my triggers.

Like, I don't like being here by myself.

My dream as a little girl

was always to own an old, old house.

But this place was too good to be true.

When I decided to move in with my son, frank,

we felt like there was constantly eyes

watching both of us.

And then things started waking me up

in the middle of the night.

the previous owners,

emmett sartain and his wife, ida,

passed away in this house.

I met cory about eight months after I moved in.

We had gotten married.

After that, I moved in with my two kids,

maddison and gavin.

I did not tell cory about what was going on

with the house.

I didn't want to scare him.

But the activity really escalated

after he moved in.

In the kitchen, we've had a lot of activity.

I've heard what sounds like the front door opening

and somebody saying, "brittany,"

just turn around and there's no one there.

I was in the pantry digging around.

One of the toys started saying, "hey, hey, hey."

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Went back about my business in the pantry.

Then it started saying the number seven

over and over and over.

Seven, seven, seven, seven.

On the staircase, there's a lot of activity.

I saw an apparition of a woman

walking up the stairs.

She had dark hair

poking out from underneath a bonnet.

One time when I was on the stairs,

I seen a little african-american boy.

And he was looking over the railing.

It scared the piss out of me.

On the upstairs level and frank's room,

frank claims that there's a little boy

who likes to stay in his closet.

Me and frank were gonna go feed the animals.

We started heading towards the barn.

Frank starts talking about the ghost.

And he pointed into a very large oak

in our backyard.

And I asked him, "what color is the ghost?"

and he told me it was brown.

That really freaked us out.

Scariest thing that the kids have experienced

was when the boys' remote-control car

traveled from the living room

into the dining room on its own.

They all took off upstairs.

I'm worried how it's affecting our family.

Me having ptsd and being in this house

has made things difficult for me.

And we need help.

Is activity happening every day?

Yes.

We kind of, like, reached our wits' end. Okay.

I have a really hard time sleeping

because, for whatever reason, it likes to mess with me

whenever she's asleep.

- Hmm. - I guess it's like vice versa

'cause every time I'm in bed before her,

then she ends up having a story of, you know,

"guess what I heard?" you know, that kind of thing.

- So it just wants attention. - Yeah.

Now, since the last time jessica and her team were here

and investigated it, has anything happened since?

Well, we got the apparition on picture.

There's a dark figure in the doorway.

He's a tall gentleman, and he's fully cloaked.

I was seeing right here in the dining area.

Well, anything else happen?

Batteries die, like flashlights.

And that's something we ran into in the investigation.

Like, our equipment just malfunctioned.

We put everything into this place and that's property.

Like, it's -- we can't just leave.

We're gonna try our best to get as many answers

For the next week, the totherow family

will move out of their home

so that our team can thoroughly investigate

the intense activity happening here.

we have to cover the claims reported all over this property.

We're setting up a dvr camera towards the tree

where the boy saw an apparition

of a african-american sitting in the tree.

It's so rare for us to validate a claim

before the investigation even begins.

To follow up on what we just experienced,

as well as what jessica encountered

during her investigation,

tango is going to head to the upstairs landing with her

to see if we can make contact with who or what

is moving the toy car.

So we were standing right about

where you are right here

when we got the car to move.

And it would move on command?

When we got it to move,

we were talking about the little boy.

Cory has also seen the apparition

of a little boy in this area.

We think you were playing with this before.

Brittany and cory have been seeing a little boy.

It's widely believed that spirits can pull energy

from batteries in order to manifest,

and batteries have been known to drain in this area.

So steve and I are taking a fully charged battery

to the tree where the apparition of an african-american man

has been seen.

If it loses charge, we might have the evidence

that supports both claims.

We still can't pinpoint

who or what is behind the toy car moving...

...Or validate if it's paranormal or not.

So we're going to focus our investigation on it again.

Steve and I are heading to the upstairs landing,

where a female apparition wearing a bonnet has been seen.

Camera is on and rolling.

And we purchased a second rc car with a remote

that we are going to test alongside the other one.

- Did you see that? - Yeah.

Do you think it's just this remote?

So we turn this off for a second.

- Got the remote. - Yep.

we'd like the check out that claim of the hooded figure.

It has a humanoid shape and it's freestanding. Yeah.

Imagine, like, seeing that picture later

knowing you thought you were by yourself.

We keep on hearing what sounds like a female voice.

We're investigating the totherow farm

in white pine, tennessee,

where a military veteran is suffering from ptsd,

as well as having to deal

with terrifying paranormal activity.

he and his family have encountered sightings

of a female, an african-american little boy,

and a male apparition.

The totherows believe that the former homeowners

emmett and ida sartain,

are behind the haunting of this farm.

Keep on hearing what sounds like a female voice.

And we think we may have made contact with one of them.

ida.

what was that?

ida, we have a recording device that can record your voice.

So far, when calling out to ida sartain,

we believe we've heard a female voice answering back

but we'll need to review our recordings

to confirm our assumptions.

But she wouldn't explain the apparition

of an african-american little boy and a male figure.

We've asked around town to see if anyone had any information

about the totherows' farm,

and everyone directed us to the unofficial historian

and genealogist of white pine, dale snapp.

He's lived here his entire life

and has been researching the history of the area

for the last 30 years.

My family's lived here since tennessee became a state.

And I've studied most of the older families around here.

All right, so what can you tell us about the sartains?

They're like the thread

that sews this entire quilt together.

They would certainly be one of the prominent

families of this area.

Some of these things that we've been talking

with this family about is that they've seen

what appears to be an african-american man in a tree.

They see this little boy around the property, as well.

Any history that might tie someone like that

to the property over there?

I have researched all the deaths for district 3,

and the only african-american that I have found

was sir thomas swaggerty in 1917.

This is the magistrate's book.

You can see that his death was ruled homicide.

But how was he murdered?

He was actually shot by the town marshal --

gunshot wound through the heart.

- Why was he shot? - We had an active kkk.

It's my belief that mr. Swaggerty was targeted

to run the african-americans out of this town.

Gosh.

And is there any evidence that you've ever found

that would have put emmett or ida

into the klan?

The sartain family was big enough

that you would have had them involved

in every organization here --

I'm sure the klan as well.

So where swaggerty was killed --

where is that in conjunction to the house?

They would both be in district 3.

At the time the sartains owned over 5,000 acres of land,

which would have encompassed the majority of district 3

and likely place swaggerty's death on sartain property.

Well, did swaggerty have any children?

He had a son, austin, who died about the age of 8.

With this new information about swaggerty's death,

we have reason to believe that he could be the apparition

seen out by the old tree.

And even though his son, austin, didn't die on the property,

he could be the ghost of the boy seen inside the house,

possibly a migratory spirit searching for his father.

But we've also locked on to another key piece of evidence

with this information.

If the sartains were, in fact, connected to the ku klux klan,

the hooded figure captured in the totherows' photo

takes on a whole new terrifying meaning.

It's possible the hooded figure could be one of the sartains

who may have been linked to the kkk.

Let's head out, check that battery,

and see where we stand.

I'm so intrigued by that phenomenon.

You just hear about it so much, and we've experienced it --

you know, our equipment draining,

batteries draining. Absolutely.

Two nights ago, we left a fully charged battery

by the oak tree where the spirit of an african-american man

has been seen.

We're about to check

if the battery might have been drained by the spirit.

Despite the battery not showing any signs

of unexplainable drainage,

we are continuing to investigate by the tree

to try to make contact.

We weren't able to make any contact with thomas swaggerty,

where he claims to have seen the little boy.

have encountered numerous unnerving apparitions

on their farm.

We recently learned about thomas swaggerty

and his son, austin.

He had a son who died about the age of 8.

I wonder if they could be behind two of the apparitions seen.

We also found out something intriguing

about the former homeowners, emmett and ida sartain.

The sartain family was involved in every organization --

the klan, as well.

They might be behind the hooded figure

captured in the photograph

and the voices we've been hearing.

might be causing the car to move.

from outside the house --

police cars, firefighters, and aircraft traffic --

could be the reason the car is moving.

Let's see if we can get something to happen

with this toy car.

we'll be able to disprove the car moving is paranormal.

is where they saw...

Is where they saw that hooded apparition.

And it's a pretty compelling photo.

It's very possible there's a connection

between the cloaked entity, which looks like a klansman,

and the sartains.

so if anything spiritual with energy moves through here

hopefully that'll detect it.

just sort of like a darkness come over

and wash into the room.

At the same time, the rem pod's going off.

Which is funny because we heard that bang earlier

And this was just like a like a straight-up boom,

like, right on the staircase. What's going on?

It's just so weird because we heard a bang.

For whatever reason, it likes to mess with me

whenever she's asleep.

We're hearing things that aren't making sense.

All of a sudden, rem pod's going off.

All of a sudden, you're hearing banging.

And it all started when we started trying

to communicate with ida. Right.

And this car didn't move at all

when you guys were upstairs earlier?

The car upstairs hasn't moved.

So it makes me want to have you take this back upstairs.

Yeah. See if it starts working again.

We've been trying to talk to ida.

And that's when that bang happened.

So let's continue maybe trying to get her.

I'm starting to feel that whatever's here,

it's like a cat-and-mouse game.

It's driving me crazy, I'm telling you.

It's leading us around. We're chasing it around.

It doesn't know who wants to talk to.

It wants to talk to everybody.

The totherows' property appears to be

a highly active location.

We've gone through our evidence

and are ready to share our conclusions

regarding the source of the family's paranormal experiences.

So he definitely caught some neat activity here,

some things that intrigue us.

And we wanted to look into

all of those claims that you've told us about.

Brittany and cory believe that ida and emmett sartain,

the powerful family who built their home

and were influential in the town of white pine,

are behind the hooded figure they captured

on their surveillance camera...

He's fully cloaked.

...The battery drains around the property,

the female apparition walking up the stairs...

She had dark hair poking out from underneath a bonnet.

...And the toy car that drives on its own.

- Oh. - Oh.

So the first course of action

was to try to get ida and emmett to communicate with us.

Emmett sartain, are you still here?

Ida? But the responses we got pointed to ida.

What was that?

Keep on hearing what sounds like a female voice.

After carefully analyzing our audio recordings,

we were able to isolate and enhance the voice we heard.

that's wild.

So, to us, it sounded like, "got to get the girls."

it sounds like a younger woman.

Yeah, that's weird.

In addition to this evp,

we also got even more compelling evidence

linking ida to this haunting.

Ida?

Ooh.

Right as we were inviting ida

to walk into the room, we see in our camera

that it all sort of gets washed over,

as if something is entering the room with us.

See how all of a sudden it gets extremely dark?

We believe ida to be the spirit who set off the rem pod

and was the female voice heard in the evp.

You got to remember, a family that's lived here for so long --

they definitely left their imprint.

But there may have been two other apparitions

seen by the family.

Ida couldn't be them.

Frank claims that there's a little boy

who likes to stay in his closet.

Then an african-american man seen in a tree out back.

Frank starts talking about the ghost.

I asked him, "what color is the ghost?"

and he told me it was brown.

Through our research, we found out

that an african-american man named thomas swaggerty

was believed to be viciously murdered

by the ku klux klan near the totherows' home.

He was actually shot by the town marshal --

gunshot wound through the heart.

It's also rumored that the sartains had ties to the kkk

in the early 1900s,

which makes it possible that a sartain member

could be behind the hooded figure captured in the kitchen,

being energy held on from activity

they used to take place in this house.

It could also be the link between thomas's murder

and this property.

We tried a lot of different things

to communicate with him during our investigation.

A little boy here saw you.

We didn't really get anywhere following that lead.

Usually when they don't acknowledge you,

it would make you think it's more of a residual-type haunt.

We also learned thomas had a child.

He had a son, austin, who died about the age of 8.

It's possible he's the spirit of the little boy seen here

that could be looking for his father, thomas,

who died near the farmhouse.

Are you a little boy that's up here?

So this is upstairs in the hallway.

We got this weird sound. It almost sounded like a voice

coming through a child's toy.

I know you guys have had issues, the toys turning on.

So, and just listen.

Yeah, it does sound like a younger voice.

It sounds male.

To us, it sounded like a "hello."

We can't confirm that the young male's voice is austin's,

but it is likely that, given our research,

he would be the spirit heard upstairs

and behind the noises cory heard in the pantry,
