to break into the competitive world
of professional interior design.

Over the last seven weeks,
they've transformed

I've gone maximalist.

I can see that, love.

..salons...

This is where I go and
the red smoke comes down

and I see nothing but the vision.

..even beach huts...

Hula-hula! Where's those sailors?

Wowza! Wowza!

..and impressed some of the biggest
names in the industry.

What a success. What a triumph.

So much fun!

But now only two designers remain...

It's frantic!

Once again, Lynsey's pushed
herself as far as she can go.

A little bit of bling
and a little bit of sparkle.

..as they face the biggest
opportunity of their lives...

This is what I love doing, creating
spaces that people want to be in.

Honestly can't believe
that I'm still here,

but I'm so glad that I am.

..and compete to win a major
career-defining contract

at a luxury hotel in the Lakes.

We've got to know that
the person that wins this

can absolutely deliver.

Welcome to the final of
Interior Design Masters.

It's the final week.

This is crazy. It's so empty.

And at Michelle's design studio,
the two remaining designers

are about to embark
on their ultimate challenge.

All these things. Overwhelmed.

it's a fantastic day
for Yorkshire, isn't it?

bringing it, aren't we,
for the north?

Yes. So now you're all laughing
and getting on,

but you know you're going to have
to bring your competitive edge.

You've got to get your game face
on because, you know,

there's a lot at stake here. Hello!

Well, my goodness.

The competition has been
fierce this year,

but you two really deserve
your place in the final,

And at the end of this last
challenge,

one of you is going to walk away
with a life-changing

professional design contract.

But before we get there,

I need to take you into the world
of the luxury holiday market,

because I've got two
five-star villas

that I would like to see
completely transformed.

I want to see ambition,
ideas and a level of finish

that really respects the
luxury end of the market.

So you're going to have to take
everything that you've learned

so far and put even more design
fairy dust on top of that,

because I need to know who has got
what it takes

to make it in
the professional league.

Oh, my gosh. This is going to be
really, really tough.

And to get a good finish
on everything...

Luxury, five-star.

Near the historic Cornish
harbour of Charlestown,

this upmarket resort rents out
holiday villas year-round.

With a cottage each,

the finalists must design
an open-plan kitchen,

dining and living space,
downstairs hallway,

two bedrooms
and a mezzanine landing.

We've got our two finalists.

What more do you want
from them, Michelle?

I need to see them
put together everything

that they've learned so far.

But now it's about that kind of
just slight extra level of detail -

what I would call really
considered design thought.

They're opposite, aren't they?

Siobhan's flamboyant,
she's out there.

Lynsey is quite measured and
architectural. You know what?

I would agree with you about that

at the very beginning
of this whole process.

But what we've seen with each
challenge,

they're getting closer
and closer together

because good design needs to have
both of these things. Yeah.

They've really got to
take everything

and, in a way,
learn from each other.

And then that is going to
give us something amazing.

And they've each got a luxury villa,

but they've each got their own
brief, haven't they?

Yes, we've got one that's
all about girls' getaway

and then we've got one that's about
a sort of family holiday villa.

But both of them have got
to be luxurious.

It's a five-star place.

So what do you look for
in a luxury villa?

Cos you must live in
luxury villas all the time,

all over the world.
What do you like?

I want a home from home,
but without all the stuff of home

that can sometimes be kind of
annoying. Yes, yeah.

It needs to feel special
and exclusive and just for me.

After ten days to prep their plans,

the finalists arrive in Cornwall.

Are you all ready, then?

Ready as I'm going to be!

Awaiting Siobhan, a family retreat.

I can't wait to see
what you produce.

And for Lynsey, a girls' getaway.

Being in the final, for me,
still feels like a dream.

Every week, definitely,
me confidence has grown.

I mean, if I'd have got this
brief in, like, week one,

I'd have been like,
"Oh, no. I can't do that."

I couldn't, you know...

But, like, now it's like,
"OK, yeah. Just bring it on."

With an entire villa to redesign,

the finalists have three days
and £6,000 -

double their usual budget.

It's a holiday villa.

When people come, it wants to be
something different from their home.

It's something exciting, somewhere
where they can take pictures

and create memories.

They've each chosen
a team-mate to assist.

Siobhan! Paul's helping out Siobhan.

I'm back! You've come at the right
time, Paul,

cos I'm making a lot of lists.
As usual.

Hello! Hello, boss.

And Amy's making a welcome return
for Lynsey.

So the brief is villa
for girls' getaways.

So refined, luxury...
So, me and you?

Basically what me and you
would do, yeah. Amazing.

From week one I was wowed
by her scheme.

From week two, she was amazing
to work with

and, yeah, I picked her
for the final.

It's the type of place we'd want
to come and stay, so... 100%.

We can get into the zone.
Yeah, I'm there!

I'll be at the bar. No problem.

I will help you out all the way.

And we can create together
this magical place. Yeah.

Reunited at last
and working together!

Me and Siobhan and have been
super close

through this whole competition

and I'll be throwing wallpaper up,
I'll be painting,

I'll be upholstering.
Anything I can do to help her.

So, it's a family villa.

This is the colour scheme for
the lounge. Oh, I love that.

Teal on the walls to bring, like,
each of the spaces together

and then loads of pops of colour.

I'm doing a black-and-white stripe.

Got the memo. Got the memo!

I'm so glad you've brought me
back to help you.

I will do whatever I can.

I mean, first things first, Paul.

Let's just eliminate some of
this beige. Yeah, get it out.

I can't stand it any longer. Go!

In Siobhan's family retreat, the
open-plan downstairs will include

teal on the walls and ceiling,

giant framed tropical murals

and a rainbow lighting feature
on a hound's-tooth dropped ceiling.

A black partition will divide
the living and dining space,

while in the kitchen

the tropical theme continues
with bespoke splashbacks,

newly painted cupboards,
and a bright mustard blind.

Siobhan's bold scheme
is echoed in the hallway

with rose-pink walls,
a monochrome striped wallpaper,

and finally,
her entranceway show-stopper -

a floor-to-ceiling gold-leaf mural.

With a team of the usual trades
to assist...

That's four feet.
That's pretty good that way.

..it's all systems go
for Lynsey and Siobhan.

Because the final is
so important to me,

I thought, "Right, OK,
I've got to step it up a gear

"in terms of
the project management."

So I've got list
upon list upon list.

Literally, just one
of these for every room,

just like with the colours
and everything, as well.

Decorator, me, Paul, joiner.

You know, it's always a challenge
because there's so much to do.

We're trying to make this
a more sociable area.

So it'd be, like, here.

First up for Lynsey is reconfiguring
the open-plan living space.

Keeping this here,
the benches go in there,

the partition's going up
along there,

and then we'll put that there

and then make a decision once
everything's in place.

Sounds good to me.

Every space I create is really
about the people that use it,

how they use it, how they feel
when they're in it.

Yeah. What's it look like?
Really nice.

Thinking about all
the different senses -

the touch, the vision, warmth
of the colours that you use -

so when they walk in there
they feel something.

In true Lynsey style,

she plans to break up
the open-plan ground floor

by creating a multipurpose slatted
wall with fitted benches on one side

and a TV on the other.

This contemporary
living room will include

a dark-green feature wall,
a floor-to-ceiling mural

and pops of colour
with orange sofas.

She's upgrading the kitchen
with newly painted units

and enhancing the sociability
by building a curved island.

Finally, in
the double-height hallway,

Lynsey is going
for statement dark walls,

a five-foot bespoke
art installation,

and she'll complete the look

with a cluster of smoky glass
pendant lights.

So we just need some decisions,
Lynsey, on paint.

We've got a couple of quirky bits

that we weren't quite sure whether
we're going dark or light on.

So if we do the plain black on
the back wall, we paint that white,

I think the black'll work because
there's so much of the ceiling

and the white, as well.
Yeah, definitely.

I find it really hard to make
all the paint choices

before I see the space
because of the light.

So I bought a lot of
different tones with me

so that we can decide once we
got here which would work well

with the space to make sure that
places don't feel too dark or dingy.

That's it!

OK, and if we spray
the handles in gold,

varnish them, and we can paint
the rest of unit in the green.

Lynsey's scheme will also
include a few key pieces

of upcycling furniture.

A light sand, good lick of paint,

and just transform it
into a beautiful bar unit.

Don't paint me!
If you stand still long enough!

Lynsey's really good at
spotting a bargain -

the kind of thing that most people
would walk past in a junkyard,

she sees its potential.

I'm so excited about this,
can I have a look at the sketch?

Yeah, we've got it here. Oh, wow.

Oh, my gosh,
this is going to be amazing.

Across at number three,

Siobhan plans to make a statement
in the double-height hallway.

The circle will take up
most of this area here

and the top crane
will sort of come up

and just about touch
this area here. Wow.

And the circle's going
to be the gold leaf, isn't it?

Yeah. So that's going to be, like,
wowsers when you first walk in,

isn't it? Yeah, I'll grab you once
I've got something to see.

Yeah, fabulous! Thank you.

I really wanted that wow factor.

So I've got an artist doing
a big bespoke mural.

When you see that word, like,
"family", you kind of think,

"Oh, God, you've got
to tone things down."

But why would you want to go away
to somewhere that's the same

as, like, sitting in your
front lounge?

I'm just mapping out where
Siobhan wants the wall murals.

Oh, my gosh. It's going to be
a real statement, isn't it?

Yeah, lovely.

Why do people go to, like, Disney
World and places like that

with their kids? They don't
go there because it's boring

and bland, do they?
They go because it's fun.

Right, I would ask what I can get
you, but there's only one option,

and that's a pink cocktail.
We'll have one of those.

My style, I would definitely
say maximalist. I love colour.

Certain colours in particular -
pink, obviously - and fun.

We once had a large zebra sticking
out of the wall in our kitchen.

She's always been interested
in interiors

and just making things look
really unusual.

Just beware - you're not driving
anywhere, are you, tonight?

Not planning on it, no.

She's the kind of person that,
when she walks into a room,

people really gravitate towards her.

This has just been such
an amazing opportunity

and I've just grabbed it
with both hands.

I'm really proud of Siobhan
for doing this.

It can open up so many
doors for her.

I've given so much to
that corporate world.

Now I just want to
put all my energies

into a much more creative path
because that's what makes me happy.

Got to get the right balance between

enough on that side
for the sofas to fit

and enough on this side for the
dining table and the island to fit.

Back at number five in
the open-plan living space,

an ambitious build
is in the pipeline for Lynsey.

The partition here in this room's
quite a big part of

making sure this space
functions afterwards. Yeah.

I'm a little bit scared about
whether it's going to be too much

for the space or not, but I think
we've just got to go for it.

The TV was really hogging
the space before

and really kind of dominant,

so moving the TV onto
the partition creates a space

where the two sofas can
sit opposite each other,

it's much more sociable.

But some people love open-plan,

so we're putting a wall
in an open-plan space,

so...be interesting to see
how it pans out.

As the trades make headway
with the partition,

Lynsey's going bespoke
with some statement artwork.

What's your wall-art plan?

I've cut up loads of pieces of wood,
all different depths and heights.

And I'm going to paint them
all different colours

that reflect the tones that are
in the main wall of the hallway

and it's going to go up the stairs.
It's really exciting.

I can't wait to see it
come together.

I've never done it before, so...
I'm just seeing what happens.

So what I'm thinking now
is a divider going up

would actually be nice
in the middle. OK, yeah.

Downstairs at number three,
Siobhan's got her own plans

to break up the downstairs
living space.

I've got 20 of the - is it 2x2?
2x2, yeah.

I've got 20 of those
in the middle here.

I've definitely learnt a lot
from seeing everybody else's rooms

throughout the competition

and then seeing, like,
Lynsey with the slats -

I thought, actually that would be

really good in this one
in the lounge.

Sorry that that's not the most
technical drawing ever.

Most people come to Cornwall
for the Cornish pasties

and the cream teas. You come down
here to see what's in the skips.

What's going to happen to it?

It's going to be tiled at the bottom
and it's going under here.

So you come in after you've been
for a lovely walk,

sit down, take your boots off
and put them neatly away

so they're not all everywhere.
Oh, that's good.

So it's the final.

You've got to throw
everything at it.

What's your piece de la resistance?

There's a big piece of wood art
going up there,

which I'm sure you'll have
an opinion on.

I'm feeling over the weeks that
I've gone down in your estimation.

No, no! Everyone smiles when
I come through the door,

apart from you, Lynsey.

I see the stuff and I go... "Mm."

This is exciting.

Are you going to start

her attention upstairs

with a plan for a supersized
feature in the master bedroom.

I'm just cutting the foam
to size for the headboard.

There's not a load that you can do
because they're not huge spaces.

I mean, I would have loved to put
dressing tables in and all sorts,

but I'm concentrating on this area,

and there's going to be
a mural going up here,

headboard here
and then another bit here.

So it's a bit more
of a statement, really.

This is the landing and it
was kind of wasted space.

And I kind of thought, well, make
it like a little mini lounge,

like a funky hang-out
for teenagers.

When I think back to all those many
moons ago when I was a teenager,

I probably wouldn't have
wanted to sit, you know,

sometimes, with the old wrinklies.

It's nearing the end
of the first day.

we've managed to get

the partition complete,
but in reality

there's still a huge amount to do.

We have got to add
luxury to that place.

We've done, like, a base coat,
if you like,

and there's so many
more layers to add.

It's early morning in Cornwall.

In two days,
these luxury holiday homes

must be fit for scrutiny
by the judges.

And at the girls' retreat,
Lynsey's got a big to-do list.

If I get this finished,
all the furniture painted...

Yeah. ..get the wall
in here painted,

the panelling done
and all the bed heads covered,

all 12 of them... Wow!
..that would be really good.

That would be huge. Yeah.

Sights set high,

Lynsey's got 12 separate
headboard panels to upholster.

The space is quite small

so I think the challenge
with both bedrooms, really,

is making it feel bigger than it is

and more luxurious
with the finishes you use.

The idea that I was
going for is just

trying with the greens
and the blues -

it's kind of bringing the nature
and the outside of Cornwall in.

There's loads of elements
that I'm doing myself.

And that's more because I have in
my head how I want it finished.

Coming away for a girls' weekend,

you want luxury, cosiness,
things you don't have at home.

I really love these printed velvets.

They're so vibrant and I think

they add impact really quickly.

This is all really surreal.

Not that long ago, I was working
at a construction company,

building houses,
working for clients.

Lyns has always been creative.

She sees the opportunity in things

that I wouldn't even think of.

I don't see myself as a glamorous
designer or anything.

I do love problem-solving solutions.

Suppose it's the architect in me
to maximise the use of the space.

I think the competition has
brought out more confidence

to try different colours,
different techniques.

I thought maybe the creativity
was gone and that sort of energy,

and the last few months has
reignited that fire inside me.

I think it's made her
almost more...extravagant.

That was in her before,
but she's being more free

with her designs.
She definitely deserves to win.

We could name the baby Michelle,
if that's what it takes.

I couldn't ask for more support.

It's definitely the reason I'm here.

Siobhan, you can
put the next sheet up.

At the family retreat,
Paul's doing what he does best -

hanging more of Siobhan's
statement wallpaper.

By the end of the day, I want
all the paint on the walls,

I want a second coat on the kitchen,

all the wallpaper murals up,

so that then, tomorrow,
I can concentrate on the styling

and extra, like, finishing touches.

light lamps and things like that.

shadows across the ceiling,

which is really, really nice.

that's the point of

I was expecting a lot more.

I thought they would have
had a lot more done.

I don't know why it's taken them so
long to get colour on the walls.

much painted of dark grey

on their living room wall.

The partition is the same as
Lynsey's. Is it t'same size?

Similar. But on one side of theirs,

Amy's going to do a board
with some gold leaf

and they're going to put
the TV on it.

Lunchtime on day two...

..and at the halfway point,
both villas are working flat out.

Oh, look at this!

This is, like, a massive
space, isn't it?

So I just thought
it needs an impact.

Look at that! I'm getting a cricked
neck like the Sistine Chapel.

I'm like, ah!

So that's amazing. Gold leaf?

Have you won the lottery in the
last...? I wanted people just to

walk in and have, like, a really
beautiful statement piece.

Yeah. And another bold colour.

Did you take your hair in and say,
"Can I have it like this?"?

Because it is like you've fallen
asleep and your head's dipped in it.

I always like to decorate
how I dress.

It's just, like, me thing.

I just thought this has
got to be the wow factor

with it being, like, double-height
and all the different angles.

Yeah, I mean, look. Every different
perspective, you see something else.

Yeah. It's great, isn't it? Yeah.

Oh, wow.

At the girls' retreat,
Lynsey's out to impress

with an innovative design
in the bedroom.

Spot the join?

No, you can't even, can you?
I managed to overlap it.

Oh, that's so good.

The cupboard doors in both
the bedrooms were really intrusive.

They were bright orange wood,
just really stark and in your face.

The panelling goes both on the
doors and on the wall behind it,

so when the cupboards are closed

you won't actually be able
to see them

and it'll just look like
one continuous wall.

Progress in the bedrooms,

but in the living space,
there's still plenty to do.

So this is the only wallpaper
going up.

It's 2m high, and 1.2 wide,

so I really hope
it's quite striking in the room.

Just a bit of fun, really,
but it'll be ace to see it go up.

OK, so we're going to go put
this one in here, yeah? Yeah.

At the family retreat,

Siobhan's kids' hideaway
is taking shape.

That feels really nice, actually.

You do feel, like,
a little bit enclosed.

And I wanted it to feel like a den,
like, kind of feel cosy,

that you can kind of, you know,
come away from the parents.

But actually, when're you sat here,
you'll have a really nice view

of the gold leaf and the chandelier.

I think this will actually
be a really cool space.

And with time moving on,

one more design decision
for Lynsey to wrestle with.

It is centred that way,

so we just need to decide...
That way.

We can obviously go
any other way, but...

The kitchen, when we first came in,
it was all outward facing.

And this is supposed
to be a social place,

girls' getaway,

so the idea for the island was
so that you can prep food here,

you can put drinks on here.

I didn't want to put this island
in until the partition was up,

we knew the space and how
it was all going to work

because it might have been too much.

And kind of all along this
challenge, I've really tried to push

for the right thing
and not just what was in my head

before I came,
but making sure it fitted here.

And if the dishwasher's
opening like that...

Yeah. ..then that's plenty
of space. Yeah?

There's just lots of bits that
need to come together now,

and it's just making sure
we make those decisions quickly.

At number three, with the living
room plans progressing well,

Siobhan's turned their efforts
towards the bedrooms.

Going on nicely, that.
It is.

We're painting it all this
Tuscan Red.

So, actually, when you're walking
up, you're going to see the stripe

on the landing and then the stripe
then is replicated

in this room as well.

I spent quite a lot of time
looking at colours

that would complement each other.

So, you walk out of one room
and you see something different

but it's kind of on the same line.

How gorgeous does that look against
the grey?

It's like a Chartreuse, like, acid
yellow, isn't it?

That's one of your tones that you've
been using anyway,

through like your upholstery and
your curtains. It looks really good.

I've never used this
colour palette before,

so I'm hoping Michelle can see
that, you know,

this is something a bit

So this is it, this is the final.

I have made these guys jump
through so many hoops.

I mean, my expectations are going
off the scale

because they've learnt so much,
both of them.

But what are you hoping to see?

I guess I'm looking for the
properties to look fantastic,

to feel great and to function
really well.

But one of the brilliant things
about a holiday let

is you can really elevate the design
because this is also

an element of escapism.

And for me, when I go on holiday,
I want somewhere that feels

even better and more fabulous
than my own home.

I think it's going to be
really hard to actually

kind of draw a line between them.

Finally, a chance to see which
designer has impressed the most.

First under scrutiny,
Lynsey's Girls' Getaway.

The last few days have been a total
emotional roller-coaster.

Standing here now with every part of
my body aching,

including my brain, I couldn't
have given it any more.

Wow! I am being hit by this
delicious chocolate colour

and we've got quite an extraordinary
floral armchair,

an oversized chandelier.

So there's already a lot to delight
the eyes and the senses

as soon as you walk in, which is
wonderful first impression.

This beautiful collage of locally
sourced photography

is a lovely touch.

And how fabulous is this?!

It's kind of like a sculpture,
but more importantly,

it's also introducing the textures
and the colour palette.

I love all the indents and the
little bits of gold

and it feels very subtle, although
the whole scheme already feels

quite dark to me.

So we've taken this really dark
palette into the kitchen as well.

I think it's really lovely to see
that palette in that artwork

and then now we're seeing it on the
sofas, on the upholstery,

in the metallic finishes and it's a
lovely, warm colour story.

Really good handling of space.

I mean, I love this little bar -
that allows you to sit there

and face your room, face your guest.

You know, looking at this
at first glance,

I can imagine you could spend the
whole budget on a bespoke piece

of furniture like this.
It looks really, really cool.

The genius bit is the curve.

It would've been so easy to think,
oh, square kitchen,

square island, but to reference
this screen

and the outside of it, brilliant!

And I love that divide -
I think that's genius.

You know, I can sort of sense an
architect in this designer.

And yet you've got a visual link,
you're not completely blocked off.

This type of thing is a bit of a
signature for Lynsey,

but it works, it's clever.

Ooh, that's nice and comfy.

It does invite you to want to sit
down, though, doesn't it?

It really does. It's super social.

It's so clever, that sort
of reverse TV... Yeah. ..moment.

I had no idea in the kitchen there
was anything on that

and it's fantastic.

I think the furniture layout, having
two large sofas facing one another,

it's really convivial, although I
probably would've put

like a footstool here to just make
it feel a bit more flowy.

It feels quite formal.

I think it's quite a tight spot to
have a complete sort of 360 seating.

It's minor points... Yeah.
..because certainly the feel

is I'm perfectly happy here.
I feel glamourous, don't you?!

Oh, looking divine!

There's some lovely colours.

Love this kind of muddy lilac
because that echoes the hallway.

Now, when you look back across the
kitchen,

you get the similar kind of
colours,

pairing that with the rusts, it's
like, "Ooh, I'm in my happy place!"

This is unexpected.

Hallway plus!

Isn't it? I mean, this piece of
furniture,

I'm imagining her incredible,
resourceful, vintage

magpie eyes found that.

Isn't this kind of lovely cos you
know that you're getting ready

in there, I'm in here, we're having
a little chitchat.

Yeah, it's smart, isn't it?
On many levels.

She's turned it into a little salon,
hasn't she?

A little boudoir.

Ooh, and exhale!

This just suddenly feels
fresher and lighter.

But we're still pulling in the dark.

Well, maybe that's how it works.

So we have continued the palette,
but the mood

feels just a bit more open,
countryside-y Cornwall-y vibe.

I like this, taking the slatted wood
from downstairs to upstairs,

just to conceal what would otherwise
be quite boring wardrobe.

That's brave, it's bold.

She's defined a whole section of the
room with one material,

gone for it, committed to it.

It's very tight, very coherent,
soft, gentle,

but it feels very luxe
but appropriate,

dare I say it?

OK, I like this.

It's essentially the same room,
we've gone darker tones,

no squabbles, then, with your
girlfriends

over who gets which room.

Of all the fabrics in the world you
could choose from,

do you just have to have the same
design? Perhaps a bit lazy.

I think it's a bit lazy...

Design wise, it's the same room
copied,

but I still like the room.

Next up, Siobhan's Family Retreat.

I feel exhausted, but, oh, my God,
I'm so proud of that space.

I'm so happy, it's so joyful.

Do you know what? Little old me has
kind of pulled it out the bag.

Ooh! Another fabulous hallway.

Wow. And with colour.
Gosh, I'm seeing stripes!

And I'm seeing...cranes.

The brief here was family retreat.

People are coming down here to have
some wholesome, good fun

and then...ta-dah! Ta-dah!

It's the sort of ripping up of the
rule book and thinking, you know,

super high-impact, drama, glamour.

But fun was also on the brief.

And I'm definitely getting that.

Yeah, it's definitely uplifting,
isn't it?

I'm just kind of feeling that this
is like Siobhan unleashed.

I rather like it.

It is full-on Siobhan and there is
something so magical about her.

It makes you want to be your best,
most colourful self.

And so it continues. Turquoise, and
a painted ceiling, Sophie! Yes...

Come on, you've got to be happy
about that.

What this shows me is that Siobhan
really understands

that if you're doing this deep,
dark, saturated look,

you've got to go full attack.

This is a very strong palette,
for sure.

And I applaud that, there's
something so confident about it.

Exactly. I don't feel like the three
areas are evenly balanced.

I feel like that's where all the
energy's gone.

I mean, it shows how clever Lynsey
was to have introduced that island

because suddenly you come next door
to the identical house

and it's missing.
That's what's missing.

Wow, party! Wow!

The party room. This is giving
me a big smile on my face.

There's something so joyful
about it

and I think it's just because
it's so unapologetic.

Wow! Where's the sunglasses?!

She's definitely not held back.

She's packed a lot in this space.

You know, maybe too much - it's
supposed to be a family getaway.

Definitely feels like you could sort
of kick back.

But is it relaxing, I wonder?

I want to forgive. I just...

I'm just enjoying this fabulous
exploration

of colour and decor.

I just feel that she just enjoys
doing this so much.

Mm. I agree with you, Michelle.
I think it's beautifully curated.

But then in my mind, I'm thinking,
OK, family with toddlers

well, all of this... Has to go.
..is just a nightmare.

You know, has she answered the
brief?

It's intense, but does it
really answer

that sort of broader demographic?

I agree. She's taken quite a risk.

You know, what is gorgeous is
looking back here

and seeing that gold leaf ceiling,
that is someone that has sat here

and thought, "What am I going to be
looking at?"

That's a lovely touch, isn't it?

And it means that she's considered
the architecture...

But then not been so cowed by doing
that in gold that she didn't want

to then stripe behind me and bring
our kind of dividers up as well.

You know, typical Siobhan -
full-out opulent glamour.

It's always like there's plenty
to either delight

or assault the senses.

It's kind of all like, why not?

I'm on holiday, I'm escaping.

I'd love to have this room.

And what do you think of this? I've
never seen a headboard like that,

which is not to say it doesn't work.

However, it is kind of feeling like
quite grown-up in here.

And as a family retreat,
I wonder if the other bedroom

is more suitable for kids.

It's the same as next door,
but it's got that difference again,

I think as well, it's just the
audaciousness of it.

Oversized mural and, again, pulling
in that black and white.

It's a really bold, dramatic
landscape.

It's design,
it's interior decor,

it's masterful, it's Siobhan.

I'm sorry, but is it
family retreat?

All of those kind of things.

There is so much great here, so much
great in Lynsey's as well.

I can see they've both learnt from
each other.

They've each evolved over the course
of this whole competition,

but there can only be one winner.

It's going to be a really tough
decision.

After eight weeks and eight
commercial design challenges,

a defining moment.

I just absolutely loved
what I created.

I'm massively proud. I'm thinking
like a designer now.

I'm just hoping that I've done
enough.

How are you doing?
Mm, nervous!

I know. Petrified! Yeah.

I couldn't have done any more.

That was me - that was everything
I've got.

I've lived and breathed it.

I gave my all and that's all
I can be, so, yeah.

out of the hat, these two.

An utter transformation.

You know, we've all got to remember
that whoever you choose

has absolutely got to fulfil this
commercial contract.

We're looking for innovation
brilliance.

Equally, though, I have hammered it
into these people

that everything must be considered,
inhabit the space, use the space.

I suppose at this point, it's also
about the next part of that journey.

Which one is going to flourish
as an interior designer?

The tricky thing is they both have a
huge amount of style.

I mean, there is this kind of genius
use of space from Lynsey,

but then there's this genius
kind of just joy.

It's very happy...
With design on the other side.

I think this is our biggest
conundrum.

If we could merge them both...
Oh, my goodness, what would we get?

You can't merge them, Michelle,
you have to choose.

I guess it's a prize at the end
of the day

to become an interior designer,

so it's interesting to look at
who wants to do that job more.

It could go either way.

The final. I know!

How is it feeling?

Amazing. Scary. Exciting.

I mean, you had a whole house
to design in three days.

How did you tackle that
from the very beginning?

I really thought about the brief,
cos proportions to me

are really important,
and how you feel in a space.

But then I wanted it to be
functional as well.

I love your sense of flow
from one to the next.

It was fantastic.

Yeah, I tried really hard on that.
Like, for the island,

you could be in the kitchen,
but still be really sociable.

And the partition so that you could
still see what was going on

in the living room.

That felt like a really smart,
clever way to denote one space

from the next.

And we've seen glimpses
of that slatted wood before,

it really worked really powerfully,
particularly the divider,

because it wasn't just a divider,
it was also the bench seat

and the TV stand.
When I was there doing it,

I questioned all of my decisions
once I was in the space.

Just sort of learning to be
more flexible at the 11th hour.

That's definitely something that
I brought in,

learning that just because you've
had this idea,

and actually taken the time,

once you're in the space, you go,
"Will that work?"

I mean, and that comes from really
putting yourself in the mind

of the user, which is what we've
been constantly learning, isn't it?

That's just so wonderful.
It shows you really care,

and you really care about
the people you're designing for.

With the two bedrooms,

every room is another opportunity
to have more fun,

more colour, more pattern.

And I was quite surprised
that they were almost like

mirror images of one another.
I wanted them to be different

in terms of feel,
and I think I achieved that.

I wish I could have done
two totally different rooms.

What is fantastic is that, in all
of this conversation,

I am hearing someone really talking
like a designer.

What will this mean to you
if you win?

It will mean so much.
I've already quit my job,

because I've loved this so much,

like, I just...
It lights this fire inside me.

I absolutely have enjoyed every
minute of just trying to

absorb all of that information
and pulling it together.

And then what I can do next
excites me so much.

You were quite rule-based
to start off with. Yes.

What was the right thing to do?
What could be done?

Yeah.
And this was the brief.

And you're very aware
of what you've got to learn.

The question is, can you?
Can you learn it?

I am a creative person,
and I now believe I can do it,

and I've got a lot more to give.

You've talked about light,
you've talked about flow,

all of the things that we have been
masterclass training you for,

so well done for that.

Hello.

Oh, I feel emotional
before we've even started.

I mean, you attacked this villa,
you came out all guns blazing.

And what I've loved about you is
you have no background in design.

Tell us how you approached it.

When I first got the brief,
and it said, like, a family villa,

I was trying to, like, pare things
back, and then kind of just thought,

"Look, let's just throw the rule
book a little bit out the window,"

like, the creative juices
just started flowing,

and maybe that might be
to me downfall, I don't know.

So do you think you did
hit the brief?

I'll have to admit, I don't think
I was really thinking

about, like, Cornwall as a place.

Obviously, I have thrown everything
at it,

but I've tried to do it
in a kind of refined way.

It's really important
to have that sense of confidence,

isn't it, in your design?

And it feels to me that
you're really sure-footed and clear

about what your design DNA is.

It's quite bold, isn't it?

But it was very sophisticated
as well.

Walking into that entrance hall with
that beautiful gold-leafed mural.

I applaud the bravado in there.

But what I'd really like
to understand is

where does it come from?

It could start with, like, a colour
or a pattern.

Is it a gut instinct?

Is it...?
Absolutely.

With me not being, like,
a designer as such,

it's kind of difficult sometimes
to articulate that, isn't it?

You're doing very well.

Because I think it's a real gift,
you know,

to have a strong connection
to colour and design.

Yeah.
It's an emotional response.

You can't learn that.
Mm.

And I think that's something
you need to really own.

Yeah, I think that's what I struggle
with because, you know,

I don't have all the fancy terms
and all that, it's just seeing

something transformed, you know,
from a blank canvas to something,

you know,
something really beautiful.

When you leave the competition,
what would be, like, your dream job?

Obviously, I would love to do
some interior design.

Right. I'd love to maybe design some
products, some wallpapers, fabrics,

things like that.

I have seen you pour your heart
and soul into this,

but what will it mean for you
if you win?

It would mean everything, really,
because it would mean that I am...

I can actually do this, you know,
and that you have faith in me

that I can have a different
career, you know.

So, yeah, I think it would be,

yeah, totally,
totally life-changing, really.

Looking at the body of work,

I think Siobhan's is probably
a little bit more memorable.

Do you have a sense of where to
shop, where to go, where to be?

I genuinely think
it's too close to call.

Well, this is a blast from the past.

There was so much creativity.

what a ride this has been.

conviction and enthusiasm

into each and every challenge.

And I think what we all learned
was that interior design

is about so much more

because when we open ourselves
to creativity,

At the end of the day,

interior design is this superfine
balance between innate raw talent

and designing plans,
dealing with clients,

understanding briefs.
