The more isolated and controlling it
gets, it's almost like you don't have

and language for the regular world
anymore because you're in this system

not normal.

So you can't go out to the world and
have a conversation because the way you

speak, the way you think is so not of
the world anymore, right? Were you going

out into the world? We all worked day
jobs to support the church. But when we

were out in the world, we were kind of
recruiting for the church. So it got

isolating, more controlling, more crazy.
It went on.

And I said, y 'all, I want to go to
college. I said to the pastor, I want to

to college.

Didn't you say you were like in your 20s
when you joined it? Well, I was 16 when

I met them.

I moved. I followed them down after
ministry training school, so I was 19.

When you're isolated and you're young
like that, those are the only people you

socialize with.

You're very impressionable.

Yep. When I think of cult, I think of
Charles Manson.

I think of people out here murdering
people.

What about that Mother God cult?

And then carried her dead body around in
the backseat of a, like, a station

So there's a lot of this shit going on.

My point is, these things happen.

When we say cult, maybe it's not like
the Manson cult. Perhaps it is this sort

of coercive, very tightly controlled
environment.

I mean, some people thought Bikram Yoga
was a cult.

Was there any physical, emotional,
sexual abuse?

Emotional, psychological, not physical
or sexual.

But there were boys and girls.

That run the cult? Yeah.

And they want the girls to marry the
boys in the order. You make babies right

away, so you're kind of stuck there,
