I had to.

Listen.

making fun of me for what I said.

Far as I could stand it.

- Do not kill him, right? - Of course not.

But I broke my jaw.

And I took the lottery.

I had five weeks to go.

And I took the lottery.

Go home now, right?

No, I've been there, had to leave.

The military police is there watching. As if back.

There is nothing for me beyond Anyway, my parents died.

I am sorry to have beaten that guy but could not tell you why.

Have you eaten today?

No, just walking around thinking.

And you look like a bird thin, pure crop and feathers.

You look like the Prophet Ishmael.

Well, it survives.

Do you have some money?

One dollar and 60 cents.

Great.

That gives us a grand total of...

Two dollars and ten cents.

We'll be fine.

Tell me if there are any around here...

Is there a store around here?

Why you ask?

They are full of eager types easy money playing cards.

I lost some dollars playing to that.

His card says that you are a businessman.

Greed is my business, greed.

It is nimble hands and never fail.

Find the queen.

- Did you try again? - Yes

Want me to serve as a decoy, right?

Grandpa, why not me.

I do not like cheating, Mr. Jones.

Only cheaters. The honored not fooled.

Now this is easy.

You just have to be attentive to the cards.

In one of them is the Queen, gentlemen.

It is a very simple game, should only have eagle eyes.

Come, gentlemen bet for 25 cents.

I'll take a bottle of soda.

Choose a letter did anyone dare?

I've heard of that game.

I've known people who have been cleansed.

I still want to try, Gary.

You decide if you want to lose or win.

I've done this a few times.

Here we go, good gentlemen choose a letter.

I'll bet 25 cents, vejucn.

Vejucn?

I can not stop in a place without which call me a brat vejucn.

Put your money on the table, young man.

Okay, sport and blood child genius, here we go.

And again and again.

Never make a lot money but I love the game.

Where is the Queen for half a dollar?

He won again why not try?

- This time bet you a dollar. - No, no. Take your money and get lost.

Let gentlemen! Where is the queen for 25 cents?

I bet 25 cents.

Okay, I can recognize an educated man when I see one.

Here we go Where is the Queen?

Remember there are three cards here.

As I said, there are three letters on the counter.

Note cards with attention and say where it is.

Well, you have very good eyesight.

- Here you are, 25 cents. - You have the touch.

I'll try again.

The more you bet, the more you earn.

I'll bet 75 cents now.

Here we go, who dares, wins.

Where is it?

Heck, I thought what was that!

Come on Come on! Place your bets.

That has earned vejucn seven dollars in an instant.

I can turn the corner from the Queen.

Do you understand?

And you can bet and leave it clean.

Back later and share half and half earnings.

Where is the Queen!? Choose a letter.

And here we go.

Damn! Did you see what this guy is doing?

I review the cards!

How?

You better be careful, son.

I said I want to review these letters.

I'll pass.

For all the saints!

You try to make money honestly with a friendly game

and there is always someone who is to spoil everything.

Satisfied, right?

Are you going to bet, Keller?

Is my business, right?

I can do anything transaction. I bet a dollar.

Okay One Dollar! This game it gets more interesting.

Best you keep your money, son. This is for connoisseurs.

Do not give time to my hand move so quickly.

- Where is it? - This.

And the knight wins.

Make that two, two dollars.

Tell you what I do, I put two dollars and I will be very easy.

Okay, gentlemen, here we go again, here we go again.

In which letter is the Queen...

Yes ..

After sharing the costs, your winnings are exactly...

$ 21, child.

It was a productive day, buddy.

You act like a natural cheat.

Would you won the shopkeeper $42?

It is a very greedy.

It's queer.

But one thing leads to another.

And here is a healthy demand for some things, you could bet.

And there is a high demand for pearl necklaces, jewelry.

And of course, for 3 or $ 4 there is great demand for diamonds.

Diamonds? If you are just glass.

I never say they are.

I tell them stolen. That's it.

Tell me anyone who does not like buying stolen goods.

You know...

You did so well...

I wonder if you might wanna continue the partnership.

Partners? Me and you?

The gains suggest that the land is suitable for exploitation.

You know the territory...

I know how to exploit it.

You mean go lookin' for more suckers..

Goes against my raisin', Mr. Jones.

Mordecai.

I know it. I can see it does lad and I can appreciate it.

All right.

Being neutral is possible.

Y...

It may be safer to separate, but together we support each other.

The question is...

What's the alternative... logic is there?

Yes.

That is the question, Mr. Jones.

Mordecai.

Four or five of those fools around us.

Come on.

There they are!

Do not let them escape!

Over there they go! Over there!

They were here, I've seen!

Stop!

Stop, I'll shoot!

Hey friends I gave, I have them!

Come here!

Oh, you gave me in the foot!

Stupid shit!

I need to take breath, that career left me knackered.

We'd better hide.

This seems like a good place, son.

I guess I'll sleep here tonight.

Where do these rascals are gone?

I surrender, I return to my store.

The shop owner is out.

Should be looking improve their average.

You go down the road.

I'll be here.

I'll tell you one thing.

Should I worry a little about them.

Concerns?

I have nothing to worry about. These fools do not find us.

I know who you are

Mordecai Jones.

You are "The Gentle Swindler."

Yes.

Some people call me.

I knew I knew that name, Mordecai Jones.

I've heard from you since I have memory.

You is famous!

You and I are partners What there if I take the suitcase?

No thanks, I always charge my case, it makes me keep the balance.

There should be more traffic.

Now we just need to find some personal transportation.

The first car to pass and we we will pick you "borrowed."

Loans? What does lent mean?

Until we get another.

Military police! Care!

That was close.

Are what you are looking for?

Yes, do not give up easy right?

They would love to lock myself in a dungeon and throw away the key.

Quiet, see what I can give you.

The size 41 can serve you.

You should not use that more.

Better you take off that shirt of the army.

- Yes, it's a good idea. - I'll give you one of mine.

Take, put it.

Yes, we'll be fine.

Get someone to take us.

As soon as...

There comes a car. Beware!

I saw someone coming down to the race.

He could be the Spider Powell he never goes down there.

I'm sure I saw something, Commissioner.

Yes, maybe it was a dog.

What if low to investigate?

No, the spider is not usually hanging around here.

I say what is crossing the River, across from Clayton.

How about if we are on the field and avoid the road.

Not get insurance because anywhere around here.

I know what I need is a bit of inspiration.

I tell you this will not work.

Of course it will work.

We have some fun, come on.

- I can not. - Come on now.

Come on now. I will not back down.

And do not forget to limp.

Hello! Hello, in the house!

My knee!

And here we go.

Thank you, very friendly.

Mrs. Packard...

I think you could do a better service

if you stay and call the doctor saying what we are going there.

I feel so happy knowing to fulfill my duty.

That's it.

I'll call him right away.

Are you okay?

For heaven's sake!

Mrs. Packard, I forgot my politeness.

His mother has behaved compassion and a good Samaritan

and such behavior should be rewarded.

I wonder if it would be so kind as to give

this special edition of "Sermon on the Mount"

"Blessed are all the merciful"

because they will win... inherit...

Quick, my child should get going.

Thanks Reverend, is very nice of him.

Mordecai What about ...?

Hey! Let me out! Mordecai!

Yes clerics here are starting to steal cars from people.

What are you talking about? Enters in a house and steals the car.

Calm down, I have not stolen anything.

So, do you call this?

A loan is all.

Only up to a site and get another.

I am sick and tired Powell to seek the Spider.

I tell you, Meshaw, I think the spider is nowhere where they seek.

Someone in our office does what it can

but is not doing well.

Is not that the Packard car?

Is the car of his daughter.

It is bandaged. Apparently had an accident.

What are you doing?

Did you seen before?

Let me out!

Stay calm!

Who will follow us?

Police!

It's the police, Mordecai!

Meshaw Care!

I have to admit that I have not lost the touch.

I remember a time in Tennessee.

I was in...

There they come!

Mordecai, and if we do...

Mordecai!

Hey are you crazy?!

Mordecai, go slower.

Beware!

Mordecai, stop car or kill us!

Slow down, partner, not I want to lose control.

- What happened? - Be careful.

What else do we have on you?

Mordecai, is crazy.

Stop! Stop!

Stop!

I think the worst has passed.

Stop!

Stop!

Shoot the tires.

Come on, Meshaw!

Come on, pull, go!

Beware!

There they go!

Meshaw, the ladder!

Hey!

Hey, let me down!

That gentleman went through.

Hey! What happens? O... Are you crazy?

Hey you!

That's all I'm going.

Hey this is the car of Bonnie Lee!

Let me out of here!

Meshaw!

Those who go in the car, stole the car.

Do not worry, Mr. Packard, catch them.

They robbed me, a car and you hit me the other.

For we can not go this way, go the other way Meshaw!

Come, we must catch them!

Wait, Commissioner, I'm with you

By agreement between Mr. Packard, walking, Meshaw.

We tear up the town.

Sip.

Remember what we say in Clayton for a long time.

There are.

If we get caught now, we hang.

Mordecai?!

Mordecai?!

Mordecai.

Mordecai.

Mordecai.

Mordecai.

Are you all right, partner?

Yes.

The suitcase.

Agreed.

Partner...

There.

Look what they did.

Look at this car!

- The trapped, Packard. - Commissioner!

It was a coup lucky find, Mr.!

Mr. Powell you are right?

You do not know us but we are friends.

I have come to warn you, man.

Over there! There is a trail, look.

It's the police!

They're behind us!

Hurry, you may still have chance!

It's too late Spider, are behind you!

Wait!

Do not.

Had enough for one day.

Let me handle.

What's wrong? Do not trust me? Just enter.

It's still the Spider!

I knew I was over here!

We found Meshaw! We found it!

Do you hear that?

It's Spider is leaking!

Let's go back to the car!

We will take him on the road.

One moment, Slade, I care a damn about the Spider Powell.

What types who stole my car?!

Where do you, partner, left or right?

I do not know. You choose.

How about live?

He escapes, come here!

Meshaw!

Listen!

This is the Spider. We got it!

This old road will not get anywhere

only the railway, not may leave. We got it!

I'll call Smithy.

- I'm still here, Slade. - Just a moment, Packard.

How long, Al?

We have to catch these car thieves.

Catch them, Mr. Packard,

but this is a federal crime and highest priority.

Call to ask for reinforcements.

The old spider shoots when they call it.

And grabs him and calling him.

Lily? Listen please.

I have good news.

Hey, watch this radio is here.

Powell is the Spider...

find its still and we have it cornered.

Is an unknown blind just downstream.

It's the police!

No way out, is a blind way.

I want to come Smithy on patrol 3.

I five men more immediately.

That bring tear gas weapons and much ammunition.

Partner, is over the road.

Can you swim, Mordecai?

Imagine the old organizing block in the sheriff's office.

Mordecai, do not think what I'm impatient, but we leave here.

No rush, these still have to wait a Smithy with tear gas.

You know?

Can we go on the truck.

Somewhere, I suppose.

It can work, has been a long time since I did something.

I say it would be good to try.

Tell you what.

Take advantage of air to the tires.

And meanwhile, I'll try Spider products.

Damn!

They smell so stinky.

Urine tastes like panther.

The spider may operate a still, but you can not make whiskey.

We cut the road commissioner.

I can go for these trees and you can go there...

No!

Just wait for gas tear is what we do.

All right, back gradually, Mordecai.

Back mount on the rails.

That's it. A little to the right.

That's it.

Damn! Stop!

What are you trying to do?

I told her what to care.

Okay, try again.

Carefully, carefully, carefully.

Stop! Stop!

They are mounted!

Now we mount the front.

Very good progress now.

That car was less than two months.

He had only made two payments.

Will insurance cover this?

He did it!

All aboard, partner.

Mordecai, You are a genius.

- Are not we going too fast? - Yes

Smithy walk over there again crazy looking our trail.

This was something I learned sowing corn with a very special lady.

I have to say the truth,

you are in a land of peanuts, snuff and many opportunities.

Yes sir, there is always time listen to my reflections.

Study the birds, man.

They know when to fly.

Here we are, both Yesterday we were alone

Today, both are with someone you depend on.

It's the whole principle of our association.

Help each other all the time, Curley.

That's an association.

I would say that we have run with very good luck.

Good luck?

Trashed a car, trashed a town.

This truck is stolen and we are chasing.

That should not discourage you.

Let things flow and enjoy the ride.

Now, here we are in a beautiful September day

In a beautiful countryside, free.

Masters of our destiny and everything around us.

Partner, I tell you why things are going to be okay.

There are many prospects ahead.

I can already see us riding on the crest of the wave

- You and I together. - Beware!

Damn, do not go!

Wow, that was close.

Mordecai!

It just occurred to me a brilliant idea, son.

A very good.

At the first opportunity

buy two or three branded whiskey bottles.

It's just a small investment.

What am I going to multiply.

The Spider was here.

I told you I was here.

And I know how to cross the River.

It has one of these amphibious vehicles.

Yes!

He drove across the river directly.

Spider!

I know you're there!

And I will capture you too!

Hear me, Spider!

'll Get you even last thing I do, Spider!

Damn!

Hello.

Hello, is calling the 507

No crashes.

Who is?...

Rosco, Rosco's you

Listen, when I say who I am not crash.

A moment Are you who think it is?

Yes, but listen, do not hang.

Did you find your car?

Yes, indeed.

Well, when you call, please do not hang up on me.

I called to tell you what pay for damage to your car.

But not immediately.

You will pay the damages of the two cars?

Are the two cars?

Was my dad's car which crashed in Clayton.

It was not a new Dodge right?

A brand new Dodge sedan?

Same era.

Well, hey, Rosco, I have to go now. Chao.

In total...

It all adds 136 with 40...

Tax included.

So much so?

Are you sure you do not made a mistake?

Good.

Well, it seems quite reasonable.

You remind me, Johnson,

from now on, we all our shopping here.

My dear sir, you has been so helpful...

I wonder if I could give us about 10 minutes

of his time, I would your personal opinion

but it is confidential, You understand me.

At this time we are in possession

- One of the most extraordinary... - Professor!

Ah, yes.

Maybe if we go back for a moment.

I did not mean anything in not to attract attention.

We tell our problem.

This truck is fully loaded with whiskey.

58 pitchers, and we get merchandise quickly.

Perhaps whiskey

You mean you have a truck full of moonshine?

Do not talk so loud, please.

I would appreciate give your opinion, sir.

Do not consider myself very knowledgeable about this.

But this commodity, is out of range.

Please, smell, that is.

If I wanted to try a little and so give us the benefit of his opinion.

Well, I had never tasted anything like that.

Yes, perhaps, but in better times.

But it could be that maybe we...

How many pitchers have said?

58, including the one with you

58? So I'll tell you.

I will give...

Two dollars a jar.

- Two? - For the full load.

Well, it seems quite reasonable.

Did you hear, Johnson?

Well, I'll do my boys unload the truck.

No!

What... did you say?

I know where we will pay $ 3 per jar.

$ 3?

Well, that's very expensive for a product of that class.

It's a bargain for 3 dollars and you know it.

Professor?

Give the man his money and get out of here.

Okay, okay, I admit that is a bargain, $ 3 per jar.

It is perhaps the best I have tasted.

58 jars for 3...

That adds up to $ 174, I to count them, you understand.

Just remove the account total.

Yes.

I owe... 37.16.

Is it right?

Could I distrust of a reasonable person?

I'll bring your change.

Here's your bill, Professor.

Curley...

You were superb.

You have the gift, you're a diamond in the rough, partner.

You're a cheater by nature.

Come eat, Mordecai.

I feel much better of what was last night.

The worst thing is that I is easy to assimilate.

That is, I hope my parents are watching me.

I say, hoped his son would do correct, it would walk you and me.

Yes, it is easier for when Apply the rule of Benjamin Franklin.

And what is it?

Well, seize every dollar we can get, man.

You have money to make money.

Yes.

I like having a pocket full.

Yes, that's the spirit.

If you pick the corn is still tender, then we have a good harvest.

You know what I telephoned the girl Packard?

Someone must have been there with her.

But she said Rosco are you?

Just to cover up.

Here we are enjoying good meat.

Not a soul lurking around.

Four or five people away.

And without a clue police disturbed.

Not to mention some fools.

Curley...

Yes! Yes.

I have to recognize what is a very pretty girl.

Not very bright, if I understand.

But it is one of the girls prettiest I ever saw.

What makes me remember...

what a lovely creature met in a village in Missouri.

Will a few years.

Her name was Grace.

Whenever I loved that name.

The one-eyed girl purple I have ever known.

Are you are taking away the dream these green eyes, partner?

I answer, Mom!

I do.

Hello?

Celeste? How are you doing?

She did not do that.

Did he?

Amazing.

I do not mean you.

No, he was there, do you were?

I was.

Hello!

What are you doing here?

You're a fool you know?

How do you know do not call my dad?

Is it just one of the I'm assuming risks?

What do you want?

Just wanted to let you know I will pay everything, I mean the whole thing.

Do not talk so loud.

I just need some time, is all.

I say all this by phone.

Was it needed to come here to tell me?

Why did you come?

Listen, I...

I have a truck near here Want a ride?

You're taking yourself a lot freedoms, Jason Tradeway.

How do you know my name?

Commissioner Slade was here, and the state police.

They had your picture of the army, and the old man while in prison.

With a number on it.

He is your partner right?

Listen...

I am an Army deserter, is all.

And as for Mordecai, then, was somewhat accidental.

Is...

I do not want to keep running, I guess.

Tell me could tell you everything?

You know, the whole story and see us somewhere so we can...

And so we can what?

And why?

I have to go back.

I think what you're going too fast, Jason.

It is Jason, is Curley.

Bonnie Lee?

Bonnie Lee, are you there?

Bonnie Lee, where are you?!

Here, Dad!

I'm crazy about you.

What were you doing out there?

Well, no dad.

It's a warm evening, y...

I guess I just wanted to take a breath.

Six left, five up.

Nine right, six from the top.

Twelve from the bottom, twelve from the right.

Three from the bottom.

Seven from...

Seven from the left...

five from the tip.

Nine right, six from the tip.

These tables sort are now illegal.

Law enforcement gives me a good impression about you

But as you well know, sir.

There are laws and there are profits.

And if you take into account the profit margin

you can get with this harmless entertainment...

What tells you it's my benefit?

You pay a dollar for the table, but

I get my profit on the sale.

And he played for three awards, two of five...

and the grand prize of ten.

But you will win $ 50.

I know what is a gamble, not deny it.

But can you name something that is not risky in these days?

A man in his position should win

more, to pay their taxes.

And expect to get making profits.

I paid a dollar...

And I bet the dollar against a donut

what can beat that young what it spent on the table.

And then there recovered their investment.

Maybe it's a good idea.

Take these pants.

It looks interesting, is I can try?

If you have half a dollar, I guess you can.

Here's the pin.

Do you have more of those tables?

Unfortunately they have been so success that is the last one I had.

I'll start a new route from here again next week.

Bring two... no, three more.

Colonel, good morning.

Nobody has ever won this thing?

To my knowledge, is not so difficult.

It seems my luck back.

I won five bucks.

Let me see...

Hey, you got lucky, boy.

Five dollars.

Do not abandon now, right? Why do not you try again?

Well...

It's too tempting.

Two more hits for a dollar.

I'll try two more times.

Go ahead, son, go ahead.

Hey!

Hey! I was right again!

I successful at both!

How much?

One of five and a ten.

Let me see that.

Where does that?

I seem to have had lots of luck, sir.

Well, it seems that too much for my taste.

Will you pay me my money or call the police?

- Where's the phone? - No, no.

Five... and ten.

I could play again but there are no more prizes.

You know? If you put this land in a bottle

and send it around the world could still recognize it.

I know how to feel.

There's something about ground when the have.

We have a natural stream.

And there is a lake in the south.

All I need is a new tractor.

Some of the time, labor, and could be to raise children.

Right here we had a small patch of vegetables.

Yes, everything is grown now.

The first thing I will will clean all this.

Snuff, corn and children are the main crops in this county.

How about my house?

It is quite impaired than it used to be

when I was eight.

Dad built it all.

He did everything with his own hands.

Hey You know what else will I get?

I'll get a few head of cattle.

And a couple of ponies...

Good chicken.

And a few peacocks.

Peacocks?

Yes, they are somewhat exotic birds...

but they are fascinating.

Curley, this is just crazy

that is, the whole affair.

That is, the way I met you.

To speak of love, and my parents, and walking around in a stolen truck.

Now you're dreaming of peacocks.

All this is just crazy.

And now that old fool.

He is not an old fool.

It's an old horrible.

And if you follow the same path end up being like him.

Jason, I want to do something for me.

I want you to Commissioner Slade now

and tell the truth.

What all this was just an accident.

But that's not true.

Then tell him was just a big mistake.

I know you hear and understand.

If you tell, it means that no Mordecai was involved with Jones.

And then you can explain to the army

why do you hit that Sergeant Yankee.

They have to believe you.

And then all that's corn, snuff and children.

Have some sense.

That's the whole thing, Curley, a world of money.

This is a greedy society.

Is that what you mean?

Greed? Yes.

The moves greed.

Everyone is not so.

It is a matter of greed.

Take every dollar if they have the chance.

What about you Mordecai?

Me?

I was...

I was an idealist and believed in God.

It was naive.

Well, I took a long time understand what makes the world go round.

The opposite of force is...

be a survivor.

And when I learned that, something began to happen.

I started a...

Become my interior, sadness came over me, I would say.

I could not enjoy anything.

I turned evil.

Something terrible.

Terrible.

But...

One day I started thinking.

Yes everyone is so determined to be...

so greedy and so ignorant.

Perhaps what was needed a little liberating education.

So I give myself himself an honorary degree.

Mordecai Jones...

M. E. T. T. PHD.

What does it mean?

Master of Scams, Tricks and Traps.

I have had success by providing my services to society.

And I think I paid good service.

Because, after I know those guys...

So they are on track.

Son...

You'd be amazed to know the hundreds satisfied students

Why have graduated during the last fifty years.

Partner...

Look at this guy.

A wallet full of money and a belly full of beer.

That's our pigeon, son.

Drop it, man. I saw it first.

I saw it.

Maybe he did, but I grabbed it.

The first holds that it is, is the law.

Possession?

No way.

I saw that book before and That means it is mine alone.

Listen, vejucn.

I think I have it and not give it.

You will not do any of that, boy.

Think you're smart right?

Now, I warn you one last time.

You better out of here.

Sorry, gentlemen.

Excuse me for intruding

but I saw the whole incident from the other side of the street.

What does that have to do with you?

Well, what I have seen, sir.

But unless you are trying draw the attention of the police

We suggest three solve this little dispute...

friendly as gentlemen.

One moment.

Three of us?

Where did you?

Well, we three saw the book, young

and none of us want trouble with the law.

We could get a good reward too.

But, I suggest we go to some place a little less flashy

before the owner returns y...

Agreed.

Maybe what he says makes sense.

Shall we go?

You'd better keep it.

Well, if you will.

My friends, we're lucky.

There are exactly 600 dollars in cash here...

and a check for another thousand.

Damn!

Damn!

Hey, there's a name on it.

Yes, Oates, Mr. Titus Oates.

That's a lot of money.

Maybe we should try to locate the owner

and ask for a reward.

No way, boy.

I will not look for any owner.

Where I come from, what one is his.

What do you suggest we do then?

A simple split between three?

Because, if so, I suggest that try to cash the check.

I do not know, could be quite dangerous for me...

I would not risk.

Too many people know me.

Just just sold my harvest in the village.

I am the only stranger in the people, assume the risk.

They are grand.

No.

Wait a minute.

Maybe, maybe you can.

Okay, I'll try.

But I'll tell you something.

I think both should give me something for taking the risk of going to the bank.

How much, sir?

500? Do you have that amount?

I propose this, both lay $ 500 here, I will go to the bank

and 600 thousand more would be...

would be $ 400 more to Do you think every reasonable?

Sure why not.

It seems to me reasonable.

Let's see, 50, 100...

Two, three...

Five.

But we will stay here with the portfolio.

Yes, it is the best.

So avoid the risk of he tries to make us some trick.

Well, I have no problem with that.

They can stay here and monitored until I return.

Very good.

Please.

Hey!

- Who's there? - Where, where?

I thought I had seen a policeman.

No, friend, there is none.

Now who will save the portfolio?

I...

I will keep it.

Damn!

Damn!

I do not know, it was almost 30 minutes.

I think we should go get it.

It's a good idea.

I think maybe we should go get it.

Wait a minute.

Maybe I can wait here.

If he returns the other.

While you'll find it.

You know, I would not trust in a kind of town

but among civilians there Why be suspicious.

Well, how good you come back, Curley.

Look at this.

Atlanta.

And Atlanta is the goal, son.

That is, there are many opportunities there.

It will be like taking candy from a baby, partner.

Begin packing everything.

- Do not go to Atlanta. - What?

Wait a couple of days, So you can leave.

I will continue on my own.

What are you going to do what?

You heard me, Mordecai. I to continue on my own.

I am curious, it has always been part of my nature.

What made you decide that, son?

A flash of passion for this girl?

Not just for her.

It never is, is only a woman, child.

I'm not his son, Mordecai!

Sorry.

Agreed.

Tomorrow morning, will divide the money.

I do not want me.

Better take it, boy.

The crimes that are facing severe.

And with that, find a lawyer who can defend.

Those $ 700 could be very useful.

I want nothing! Not a single penny!

Why? Why not earned it honestly? Is that why?

Yes, something like that!

And you expect when you return, the golden mantle of honor

floating in the sky will fall and will settle on your shoulders?!

I'm not that stupid.

It's just what I...

Now I've been wondering if there totally honest person in the world.

I thought I was, but I'm not.

Many people thought it was.

But every time you me demonstrated how they were indeed.

Mordecai, I can not believe in anything.

Into something better than greed.

What we really need is calm.

I do not want to escape more.

Do you want to break your back working on this dead land?

I do not want to end up like you!

Good morning.

Do not move!

That is, boy, stay It may take peaceful and alive.

Hands up.

Congratulations, Mr. I must be more discreet.

Can you tell me how could we?

Well, it was easy to Mr. "Gentle Swindler"

The mother of Mrs. Packard...

Reported that she was behaving in a very suspect.

So we watch.

She led us to it and he led us to you

We've waited a long time, because an ugly old man how you

did not want to interrupt her sweet dreams.

Just get moving slowly.

Keep your hands up

Keep them covered, guys.

Keep it in the middle.

Well, we seem to seized, Mordecai.

Unless we go fast!

Flee, Mordecai, flee!

Meshaw!

Please Hold him!

Flee, Mordecai!

Flee, Mordecai!

Bring him here! What about you?!

Well, Commissioner...

I guess it's better for you if he

decides to cooperate.

It will take at least 24 hours

be prepared to file charges.

I can not let anyone see you at the moment.

Until present in court.

Y... that will not happen until tomorrow morning.

But you want to report more to the public.

Believe me

That Mr. Mordecai Jones

has made his latest misdeed County of Cape Fear.

Jump the planchette and I jumped...

At the first move suspect what you do, shoot him.

It was what the commissioner said.

Hey!

Come here, will you?

Commissioner come Slade, I have something to say.

What I want to tell him, what I can tell me.

Bring Slade here, this is very important, bring it.

He is not just a scammer.

Commissioner, that man is a murderer, a hijacker.

What that guy did to that poor old woman in Georgia.

He was 83.

I get sick just thinking about that.

Well, go ahead boy. Keep talking.

Well, first stole their money.

But then, just for fun, he...

Yes?

What'd he do?

Listen, I do not speak unless you take down.

Could bring down.

No. It will move to Jones.

I can not speak here.

Meshaw Okay, open, take it down.

But take out your weapon. Watch them, you never know.

A single movement and give it a shot.

I think you've entered because, boy.

It was time.

Yes, sir.

There.

Look at it!

Look at the great "Gentle Swindler" now!

Come on, boy.

- Very good friends, calm down everyone. - Can you tell us what happens?

All right, everybody back away, come on.

Remain calm, everything is under control.

Just go home.

Calm down, sir.

Move it, that's all.

5 are capital offenses, each with the maximum penalty.

With the testimony of this boy, I will have completed the record.

Tradeway later, what was what did to that old couple in Savannah?

I try to remember...

Ah, yes...

Well, then stole your car to some nuns.

And rang the bell and stole money from the donation box.

And then we stopped in Charlotte.

We were in a motel.

And there was a family there, I think they were from Columbia.

And they had...

Commissioner, this will stir the stomach,

but I have to tell to clear my conscience.

And there was a beautiful little girl only 9 years...

Get them out of here, Meshaw.

Continuous boy.

Well...

Made friends with them.

And then one night, they wanted to go to the movies.

And they asked him...

Commissioner, I have thirst, I thought maybe...

Bring him water Meshaw!

Do not have a soda?

Get him one of the machine that is outside.

I like you, Commissioner.

Truly appreciate his generosity to me.

Now, where does that leave us?

They would go to the movies. A girl of 9 years.

Yes ..

Well...

When I tell you what happened next...

commissioner, is going to faint.

Faint.

All is well, boy, you...

He escaped.

Well, do not stay here, go for it.

We continue to history of Payton Place.

Why did you do that?

I had to.

Dad told me almost kill the sheriff.

I did not want to hurt him.

How I can return to believe in yourself after that?

I have to get Mordecai from the jail!

They'll kill you.

It's just that they caught my fault.

Curley...

Back!

- I do not understand... - Do not you see?!

If you do not take it out immediately, imprisoned him for life.

You do not owe anything.

If I owe, Bonnie Lee.

I am indebted to him.

We have been partners, and that means something special for them.

And I can not help!

I can not help, and I feel by that old man I feel for you.

He would try to get me, I know what would.

I have to think about how he thinks.

Doing what he does.

We will draw from the jail and have to fly it.

This may have something to blow it...

So you have to do what?

Curley!

Good evening, Judge.

Good evening Do not know Tradeway youth's nothing new?

No, if I know anything I phone him.

- Okay, good night. - Good evening, Judge.

And do not try anything, Meshaw, is an order.

What no one tries to do anything, and I say, absolutely nothing.

But if that's my car!

Dale Keys my car like he said.

I called the state police, all roads will be blocked in 5 minutes.

So far so good, son.

We got the car and the keys, but...

There is only one thing, we must move away a couple of states to be safe.

They can not, but you do.

I'm not going anywhere.

What do you mean?

This was my last flight.

Now, listen.

Go fast, loss of County, cross the state line.

I do not know how long I will keep them at bay.

Do you see that phone there?

This is the number.

When you know what is safe, let it ring three times.

Now, you'd better go.

- Curley, I can not leave without you. - Now you are on your own, man.

I, Old?

Well, I will dance on your grave, son.

Only in your mind.

Go ahead, Mordecai, leave.

Very well, Commander.

I make sure everything will be fine.

Only me that phone ring Mr. Jones tell you what is safe.

You were right, Bonnie Lee.

I told you he would not flee.

You will have to assume the consequences for what he did.

She knows.

Well...

I'll see what I can do for him.

I'll get a good lawyer.

I promise.

Thanks Dad.

Hey, back off!

Come on, please leave this area!

Look, Mr. Tradeway, we end once with this nonsense.

His friend is not exactly someone very reliable, as you know.

He did not worry to make that call.

Wait!

Son, we have been quite reasonable with you so far.

Why not show us some retribution?

I'm sure your friend and crossed the state line at this time.

And it is safe and secure.

Back off!

I said why wait!

He managed to escape.

I can not believe it.

It's over, Tradeway.

Yes, that's for sure.

- No! - Why not!

No dynamite.

Him!

Be sure not to escape!

Lock him up!
