- I'm poster boy for all the
things you can do wrong

in wrestling.

The only thing really keeping me
going for a lot of years was

that feeling I got in front
of an audience.

That rush when I go through the
crowd and, you know,

getting to perform.

I really felt a freedom.

I became another character.

Because Scott Hall may be having
a lot of personal difficulties,

but when Razor steps through
that curtain, man, he ain't got

no problems, his life is great.

It's better than yours.

- If you really want to call a
guy who represented cool,

Scott Hall was like James Dean.

- Everybody, they want to be
like me.

- Here comes The Bad Guy.

- This is the next big star of
the '90s.

- Taking that toothpick,
only Scott could have

made it a big deal.

- He just oozes coolness.

- All you people are here to see
the-

[crowd yells "nWo"]

- Scott was the nucleus of us,
the vibe of the nWo.

- You can't teach cool.

Scott was always a cool guy.

- 911, what's your emergency?

- Extremely impaired drinking
and, uh, attempting to possibly

drink himself to death.

- I felt like I had a lot of
people fooled that I was this

real nice guy,
but really I'm not.

You know, I've done some
bad things that people

don't know about.

I'm not a-
I'm a bad person.

I don't deserve this,
and it's all a sham,

and they're gonna catch me.

- Scott was just a haunted
person.

I was always concerned
about Scott

You could feel there's
no way to help.

- What do you do when they quit
chanting your name?

- What happened to Scott Hall?

What happened to Razor Ramon?

He's broken down.

- Scott said, outside of that
ring, my life's a mess.

But in it-
Can't nobody touch me.

- Well, where we are is in, uh,
St. Mary's County, Maryland.

My name's Steve Hall.

I'm the youngest brother
of Scott Hall.

My parents met here and it's
always had very, very special

significance to our family.

They had a play here and my mom
and dad both had leading roles

and the play was
done right here.

And, uh, so they had--
they had Scott in 1958.

- Thank you.

- Okay, I am speeding.

- I grew up an Army brat.

So the first 15 years of my
life, we moved every year,

and I can't tell you the order
and what places we ended up.

My dad was a big shot.

He was a war hero and a pilot,
and, uh, my mother was a model.

- He was kinda shy, uh, and kind
of quiet and big for his age.

- I have two younger brothers,
but they're significantly

younger, like, you know, 8 years
and 10 years.

So I was an only child
for a long time.

My eighth birthday,
my dad took me and

some of my buddies to a
wrestling show.

At this point, even some of the
other kids would go,

"You know this stuff's all fake,
right?"

And I was going,
"No, it's not, man."

And-

[laughs]

and we were watching and it
ended up being a hair match.

The-The loser gets his head
shaved.

And I remember-- I still have
the program with the piece of

the guy's scalp in it because
they would shave the guy's head.

At the end of the show, I was
going to my buddies,

"Would you let somebody shave
your head man?

See? See?"

I thought it was really cool.

It made an imprint on me
that night.

I remember thinking,
"Wow, what a cool job.

Like, what, these guys,
this is what they do.

Like, my dad flies airplanes.

These guys wrestle.

Their life is like a movie."

I do remember like my dad
telling me,

"Never join the service unless
you're gonna be an officer."

I remember being with my dad and
dudes were like on the side of

the road digging ditches.

My dad would go, "Watch this,"
and he'd walk by and they'd all

would jump up and go like this.

He'd go-- He would elbow me,
and go.

[laughs]

Like-- I mean, it felt like he
knew it was a work.

Like everything is a work,
I guess.

It served me well
in pro wrestling.

I mean, but I wasn't very
close to my dad.

I grew up on a really super
strict Army background.

- He was an alcoholic.

I mean, my dad went to AA
meetings every day.

- It kind of got so bad.

I think it was ruining
his career.

I think he would have been
a full Colonel for sure.

- He was a provider and he was
all these things,

but he never sat around and
talked to me about stuff.

He was too busy.

- So Scott had gone to high
school in Germany

and his mother and father broke
up and his mother decided to

move back to her hometown of
Lexington Park, Maryland.

- Henry had applied for a
divorce and Scott was very hurt.

- I think it was probably a
very, very difficult transition

for Scott, um, because that was
really at the formative time of

-of his life.

- The timing of the divorce was
a lot worse for Scott than

it was for me or Steve.

And we were supposed to be
in Germany for three years.

We came back after one.

Now, I'm the man of the family,
probably made him more bitter

about the divorce.

He was at a crucial point,
you know, okay,

am I going to college?

Am I doing this?

Am I-- You know, where am I
gonna be living?

- He played basketball at St.
Mary's College,

but I think he only went two or
three semesters.

- On my own, I strike out and I
moved to Florida with one of my

buddies and just bouncing around
from place to place, sleeping on

people's couches and floors.

I don't care, I'm 17

I feel like I'm bulletproof.

- We hopped in the car, drove to
Orlando, went-- didn't even stop

as he drove straight through.

- He worked for a place called
Rosie O'Grady's where the--

the waiters sang and danced.

- At that time, you know, Lou
Ferrigno was starring in the

Incredible Hulk on TV.

That whole bodybuilding thing
was starting to take off.

- I was first exposed to
bodybuilding,

like weightlifting at that time.

Like all the other guys were
weightlifting,

and I thought it
was kind of silly.

I was a basketball player and I
ran cross country.

Next thing you know, I'm into
lifting weights.

Always been a huge
wrestling fan.

And now, you know, I get a
little job so I can afford to go

to shows, and every Sunday night
at the Eddie Graham Sports

Complex in-in East Orlando, I'd
go there every Sunday to the

point where I start putting
some size on.

I would do stuff like, I would
go stand by the entranceway,

like the guardrails where the
guys make their entrance.

And I'd go stand and I'd tell my
friend,

"How do I look next to him, man?

Like, how do I look
next to him?"

He'd go, "You're bigger than
them, man."

You bigger, you know, like.

- People were just gawking
at him.

I mean, every place he went,
they were going,

"Oh my God. Man, you ought to
go into wrestling

or something like that."

So that's really what, uh,
catapulted him, you know, to-

uh, to-to think about going into
wrestling at that--

So he was starting to think
about that already.

- He was just bodybuilding and
working as a waiter.

As he got bigger, he, uh, moved
up to being a bouncer.

And I think he used to bounce at
the-- like the topless bars.

- The big money to be made in
bouncing at that time in Orlando

was in strip clubs.

I had a rule that I would never
date a girl in a club that I

worked at because it just makes
it too difficult.

But broke that rule and became
involved with this girl, and-

another guy she was involved
with pulled

a gun on me in the parking lot.

He was carrying it combat-ready.

And when we wrestled around and
I ended up with my hand,

I had no idea that it was ready
to be fired.

And I just was gonna pistol whip
him with it, really.

I ended up blowing the back of
his head off at point-blank

range and it was brutal.

I mean, I had brains and blood
all over me, and yeah, it--

[bleep] me up pretty good.

[phone rings]

- I can remember
the phone call.

[phone rings]

The one that he gets from jail.

I can remember my mother being
at the-- in her bedroom, um, and

I remember the-the, uh, there
was a distinct feeling of fear.

- He said not to worry, that he
was innocent,

but it-it was scary.

- Was I trying to hurt him?

Yeah, big time.

Did I want him to never
associate coming around

me with a gun anymore?

Yeah.

There was a message
I was trying to send.

I wasn't trying to kill him,
but he's still dead.

- He never talked about
it to me, ever.

- I mean, he was extremely
traumatized by it.

- He didn't really talk
about it.

I mean, he just, I think he
tried to leave it buried,

but I don't think it stayed very
far underneath the surface.

- He was arrested and-and
everything and then, um, you

know, he-he was-- he was in jail
for several days, but after a

few days, they let him out for
lack of evidence.

- You know, he was trying to
kill me and he got killed.

I stayed with that girl for
eight years, eight years.

Every day I'd be going, oh, God
and I'd go,

"Hi, baby. Morning, baby.

Want me to make you breakfast or
you wanna go eat out?

What do you wanna do, baby?"

And I know she's looking at me
going, "Oh, God."

You know, she's gotta be feeling
the same thing.

It was-- it was horrifying, man.

I probably should have got
counseling then, but I was all

in this macho thing like,
I'm cool.

Plus I really felt the need to
take care of her.

- I think he just tried to not
think about it, but I don't

think he was very
successful at it.

It doesn't go away.

It just festers.

- There was something that he
was suffering from and it was--

it was post-traumatic in nature.

- To get his mind off what had
happened,

he threw himself into wrestling.

- I moved from Orlando, Florida,
to Tampa 'cause I knew wrestling

was there somewhere.

I joined every gym in town,
which was about five gyms till I

knew where the wrestlers
worked out.

Then when I found that,
I went there.

At that point, this is like '84,
'85.

Wrestling business changed.

It became more about image and
more about being camera

friendly, being marketable.

It was The Road Warriors, Paul
Orndorff, Hulk Hogan,

and I had the look.

- Scott Hall, double tough
individual.

What a physical specimen.

- So I met Blackjack Lanza at a
show in St. Louis and he came up

to me and said, "Hey, kid, you
ready to make a move?"

"No, I'm not ready."

And he said, "Everybody sucks
when they start."

And I said,
"In that case, I am ready,"

and he brought me to the AWA.

- The Bulldog, there he goes,
this could be over.

Hall quick in the cover,
hooks the leg,

and gets the three count.

- That's it.

- Oh, my.

Oh, my.

- I'd like to extend a challenge
to all the top names of

professional wrestling.

You know, I want a shot.

I want to go to the top.

- I met Scott Hall when we were
both in the AWA.

He was one of the first guys to
come and let me know that he had

an apartment in the same place
that he had an apartment.

So he even reached out to me
there, sort of helped me get set

up, having a lot of fun.

We were making some
money and we

were getting better at
wrestling.

- Beautiful full powerslam.

- Scott Hall checked off
every box.

I think a great wrestler is
this, this, this, this, this and

you can put a check
in every one of his.

- And I knew Scott had it,
you know.

Back then, I could see it.

He had that presence.

- And there you go.

It's Scott Hall.

Good as gold.

- Wrestling is all about
placement and balance

and coordination.

You know, he had it all.

- Woo good, high leapfrog.

Oh, high hip toss by Scott Hall.

- He wasn't who he would become
yet, but you could see like,

wow, that guy's gotta be money.

I mean he-he had it all.

- The man many call the Tom
Selleck look-alike,

but bigger and better,
Scott Hall.

- Looked like he's walked out
of central casting.

And he got there because two mad
scientists were in the back room

somewhere in a laboratory
creating this perfect image

of a wrestler.

- You got a date with Scott Hall
in every arena across the state

of Florida, so you better gear
up for the fight of your life.

There was a time when I was
wrestling in Germany.

Electronic stores always had
their TVs facing the street.

I would go stand in the street
and watch the--

all the TVs turned.

I couldn't hear anything.

And I'm watching, you know,
the WWE on TV.

- Hulkamania is indeed alive.

- Some day, that's gonna be me,
that's gonna be me.

I want to make a name
for myself.

The only way to do that is by
winning matches

against top competition.

I devoted nearly four or five
years full-time to wrestling and

I look in the mirror and go,
"I think I have what it takes."

Some of my friends who I started
at the same time are having

success, but I'm not in the US
where it really matters.

So I went, you know what?

Then heck with this thing.

I'm gonna get the other
things in life.

I'm gonna get a job at Sears and
learn how to drive a forklift

and get an old lady and have
some kids.

I'll be just as happy doing
that.

- The very first time we met,
we met in a bar.

He was blonde back then.

He was just like the strong
silent type, you know.

He-he could be very
sweet.

He was a big teddy bear.

- Will you love her, comfort
her, honor and keep her so long

as you both shall live?

- I will.

You know, I begged her
to marry me.

I was in love.

- Scott, you may kiss the bride.

Ladies and gentlemen,
I want to introduce to you

Mr. And Mrs. Scott Hall.

- It was the happiest time
in the world for me.

- Husband and wife,
Dana and Scott Hall.

- You know, I said I had one
more commitment in Europe.

I begged her to marry me.

We got married,
we went to Europe.

I had a seven-month tour.

At the end of seven months,
I came back to Florida,

my wife is six months pregnant.

Now I'm ready to quit wrestling
except I need money.

I gotta pay for this pregnancy
upfront 'cause I'm uninsured.

I called Diamond Dallas Page
going, "Brother, I need a job.

Can you help me?"

- I was with WCW
and I get a call.

"Dally, Scott."

"Hey, buddy."

He goes,
"Man, I really need a job."

- I've worked my way up the
ladder one step at a time,

beating all my opponents and I
want to know why I can't get a

shot at the Florida title.

- Dallas is a smart guy.

He just knew something wasn't
clicking be-- for-for whatever

reason it was, people weren't
looking at Scott and, uh, so

Dallas had this idea.

- Almost instantly it hit me.

I said, "What if I could change
your look?"

He goes, "Oh, Dally."

I go, "Scott, we gotta change
your look."

I watch MTV all the time and on
comes George Michael.

So I pick up the phone,

"Hey Scotty, you gotta shave
that mustache."

"What?

Dally, I had this mustache since
I was 15."

I said, "I'm watching George
Michael right now."

"Who?"

I'm like, "George Michael, the
singer.

He's got his-- he's got the like

this 5 o'clock shadow
going, dude.

You would look amazing.

You gotta shave the mustache."

His name is The Diamond Studd.

That's right, baby.

Show them what it's all
about here.

It doesn't get any
better than this.

- Take a good look at The Studd.

You dye your hair black.

No one has black hair.

You gotta have the stubble,
you know?

And he- Dallas gave me the
toothpick, the whole thing.

Look right there and
say Studd Time.

- Studd Time.

- All right, that's better, man.

- Scott did it and then it
became Scott's trademark.

- Scott just didn't go boom.

He stepped back, he looked left,
he looked right doot, doot, doot

and flicked it in the camera and
The Bad Guy was born.

- Wrestling fans, the following
tag team event,

it is set for one fall.

- I remember my debut as Oz.

You know, back in those days, if
you were, you know, a guy that

lifted weights, you traveled
with the guys lifting weights,

so it was always me and Scott.

I spent more of my life with
Scott Hall than any other

human on this planet.

I always knew that if [bleep]
went down

and they found my body
his would be next to me.

- It was great.

Kev's a great guy.

He's been a dear friend of mine
since we met, and we were both

jabronis, so we're both
usually on early and got out of

the building early, so it worked
out pretty good for both of us.

You know, the WCW didn't do
anything with me.

You know what time it is?

It's Studd Time.

I remember when I was an
underneath jabroni thinking,

"Yeah, I don't wanna just be
somebody.

I wanna be the guy.

I wanna be a star.

I wanna be the guy.

I wanna be somebody."

- I was watching WCW and saw a
guy called The Diamond Studd,

and I remember calling Vince and
saying, "Hey, turn on TBS

check this guy out."

When it was time for Scott's
contract to be up, came in,

and they talked about
what he liked.

- He told me that Vince wanted
to be like a soldier,

you know, like
a G.I. Joe type guy.

- Vince goes,
"Well, I understand

your father was in the Army.

I remember going,
"Whew, here we go.

I went, Vince, you want me to be
G.I. Joe?

I'll be the best
G.I. Joe I can be."

I said, "Did you ever see
Scarface?"

He went, "Uh, no."

"I went you to say hello
to The Bad Guy."

- Did an Al Pacino Scarface
impersonation

and Razor Ramon was born.

[bell rings]

- This is scheduled for a
one-fall match.

- I remember I had a tryout for
Vince McMahon.

I was summoned to his office
and I started doing

my whole Razor schtick,
and he was laughing.

He thought it was great.

And I'm just stealing
lines from the movie.

- The world, chico, and
everything in it.

- The world, chico, and
everything in it.

- It's obviously inspired by Al
Pacino's Scarface,

but he made it his own.

- Say hello to Razor Ramon.

Check my ride, man.

It's a Cadillac, man.

Custom made for Razor.

- Vince left TV to personally
direct the Razor vignettes,

and he doesn't do that.

- Look at me, man.

Look at my threads.

Look at that gold around
my neck, man.

- Look at the gold.

- And he's loving
what I'm doing.

And we knocked out three
or four vignettes.

- That was good.
That was much better.

- Like this monkey.

- Hey.

Oh, man.

- Now, I haven't been on TV yet,
so no one knows who I am, but

I'm walking through the airport
like with a vest and gold

chains, you know, with the curly
Q, and-- but I'm with Vince.

Now, everyone knows Vince.

It's like, "Oh, hey, Vince, is
that your new guy?"

He's going, "So, look out for
The Bad Guy.

He's coming soon."

I mean, you got to remember,
that's me going back to that

eight-year-old kid at the
wrestling mat telling my friends

this stuff is real.

And now I'm walking through the
airport with Vince McMahon and

people are pointing their
fingers at me going,

"Wow, that guy is somebody."

That's a pretty good feeling.

- From Miami, Florida--

- Well, take a look at this.

--weighing 287 pounds,
Razor Ramon.

- Oh, wow.

Look at Razor Ramon at will
slapping his opponent.

- Oh, no.

I have never seen a move like
that before.

- Razor gonna carve you up.

- "I'm gonna carve you up."

I mean, just-- he just had it
down man, he had the-

the whole gimmick down.

- A dedication to the gimmick by
Scott that when he was Razor,

he was Razor.

- Something happens to this
gold, chico,

something's going
to happen to you.

Entiendes man?

[bell rings]

- You could see how
cool he was.

No matter how bad he was, the
things he would say were mean or

you wanted to boo him--

- Nobody beats The Bad Guy.

--but you couldn't deny the
fact that Scott Hall,

Razor Ramon, is cool.

Like, just-- he just oozes
coolness.

- Every little detail was so
perfect.

Scott Hall became
that character.

- Here comes The Bad Guy.

- This is the next big star of
the '90s.

- I mean, everything was like,

"Huh? Like, you're looking at
me?"

You want to fight Razor Ramon?

You lost your mind, chico.

- His name's Razor Ramon.

He's from Miami.

He speaks with this really
interesting attempt

at an accent.

- Man, I living like a king.

- And I think people were
willing to just give it a pass.

They just thought it was cool.

- I am Razor Ramon.

- I'm really happy that my break
as Razor came when it did

because I'd already been around
for several years,

different hairstyles,
different gimmicks.

I mean trying to get over,
and-and not-nothing catching on.

- By the time he got to that
character, he was so ready for

that push that nothing could
stop him.

- Razor Ramon, the new
Intercontinental Champion,

and these fans are celebrating.

- It was just the coolness
factor.

His merchandise was cool.

What wasn't cool about Razor
Ramon?

- At that time, guys on the
crew, everybody's walking going,

"I told you, man.
I told you, man.

It's-It's infectious."

And that whole Razor
gimmick got over.

Yo.

- Considering how big
a term "yo" is,

if you say, "Hey, yo,"
you're being Razor Ramon.

- Yo, welcome to the locker room
of The Bad Guy.

I think I may have got that from
Rocky II.

They're going, "Rock, we gotta
jump on this right away.

Well, you know, come on.
You know, give me your number,

I'll call you."
"You call me."

And he goes,
"Yeah, I'll call you guys.

Well, here's my number, just--
I'll call you."

You know, I go like, "Hey, yo."

- I'll just call you.

I'll go, "Hey, yo."

- I steal only from the best,
guys like Stallone and Pacino.

So, thanks, Sly.

- Scott Hall-isms that my
friends and I think of are the

things he used to say behind the
scenes like,

"Hey, yo, Stickman."

He would call me Stickman.

- This Stickman, this 1-2-3 Kid.

- One night on Raw, we found out
that Razor Ramon would have a

match against a nobody, a no-
a nothing in the eyes of fans,

and a guy who you're
seeing as tiny and you

think has absolutely no chance.

- Look at the disparity in the
size here of this youngster.

Oh, my.

Oh, manhandling this young man.

- So, I'm beating him
like a job guy.

Out of nowhere, moonsault.

- Oh, wait a minute.

One, two, three.

[bell rings]

- What is this?

- He got him.

- You see people going, like,
"Oh, my God, Razor lost."

I think we're right there with,
like, the biggest upsets ever.

- Razor Ramon can't believe what
happened to him.

Razor Ramon is angry.

- It's how he sold it, like,
"What happened?"

Like, he goes crazy.

- As great as Razor Ramon is,
good for 1-2-3 Kid, who, at

that point, did not deserve to
beat a Razor Ramon.

It just isn't supposed to
happen, but the shock value of

that, and back in those days,
that never happened, so it made

automatically a new superstar in
1-2-3 Kid just by that quick.

- Him wanting to help Sean,
it really put Kid on the map.

- It was the most important
moment of my career bar none.

I got a lot of important moments
after that, but none of them

would have happened if it wasn't
for that moment.

Talking about how generous he
was and kind and compassionate,

the first thing that popped into
my mind is when he went on the

Jerry Springer Show one time.

There was two young children.

They both were HIV positive.

- When you watch wrestling,
who do you like?

- Razor Ramon.

- The boy was a huge
Razor Ramon fan.

- Here he is.

[crowd cheers]

- These guys are fighting a
fight that we all know

what-what's happening here.

You take care of that.

I'll see you guys at
WrestleMania.

[crowd cheers]

- He walked out without the
belt because he gave it to the

kid, and he called WWE office
and he said, "Oh, yeah, if you

have an-an-- a spare IC title
belt, you might wanna bring it

to the TV because I just gave it
away to this kid

on the Springer Show."

- I always remember him being
larger than life, you know,

always having to look, you know,
look straight up to see him.

- What are you doing, Cody?

- I'm walking in daddy's shoes.

- Walking in daddy's shoes.

- You know, everybody thinks
their dad is so big,

but my dad really was, you know.

My dad can beat up your dad,
you know.

I could really believe that.

- You know, you got to remember,
I'm young and in love too so

everything is great and all
those-- I feel like I'm

connecting with my kid.

It's like, "Ooh, protect my
family, hunter, gatherer,"

you know, "let me go conquer
the world now."

- And we had a nice life.

We got to go places
and do things,

and we had material things.

- I remember every morning, uh,
he never would come

wake us up in our rooms.

He would always just play his
Shaggy CD blasting really loud

through the house, and come out
and he'd be cooking sausages.

- You know, things are great,
man.

I mean, it was a wonderful,
wonderful time in my life when

I look back on it, you know.

- Has anyone ever been cooler in
wrestling?

Like, I don't know that
anyone's ever been

that much cooler than that.

Then on top of that, he's
fantastic in the ring.

It's not like he had the
character and the vignettes, and

then when he would showed up and
you saw him wrestle, he stunk.

He was every bit as good in the
ring as he was on the

microphone, or backstage in an
interview, whatever it may be.

- Look at this, ladies and
gentlemen.

That's unbelievable.

- Teddy, no-
Down to the canvas.

- There was never a time where
they said,

"You can have the night
off if you want."

Scotty be like,
"I'll work. I'll work."

Because that was, you know, that
was his laboratory.

- That's what it's all about,
the two Intercontinental

Championship belts hanging from
above.

[bell rings]

- Scott and Shawn, I mean, the
ladder match, WrestleMania X.

- Here we go.

Razor.

No, Razor reverses.

Oh, no.

- They took it to a different
level.

- Shawn Michaels from
high above.

Oh.

- It's one of my favorite
WrestleMania matches ever.

- No, no, no.

- Oh.

- At that time, we were 10 feet
tall, bulletproof.

- Unbelievable.

- Oh.

- To get to experience that with
him is very fun.

- I remember looking at Shawn
and going,

"Don't tell, Vince, but I would
do this for free.

This feels so good."

- Going up.

- Razor's up.

Come on, referee.

- Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

[bell rings]

- Me and Shawn rocked it.

- Razor is the undisputed
champion.

- Literally when you first start
saying, I wanna become a WWE

Superstar, the matches that you
watch, that one's on the list.

- The ladder match at
WrestleMania X is in the

conversation for best
WrestleMania match of all time.

It's a wonderful match between
two guys who knew each other

like the back of their hands.

- I've been so blessed that a
lot of my matches in my career,

I look across the ring and it's
guys that I'm going to ride out

of the building with.

- Triple H, Sean Waltman, Shawn
Michaels, Kevin Nash,

and Scott Hall, the Kliq.

- Five guys that shared
this bond.

The bond sorta just came outta
a love for the business

We drove down the road together
and all we did was

talk about business.

- A bunch of guys that decided
to stick together,

and have each other's backs.

- I remember Vince walking into
the locker one time.

He goes, "I have one question
about this Kliq."

He goes, "How do I get in?"

And we went,

"You love the business,
you're already in, boss."

- Dudes you can talk to about
your kids, and your old lady,

and your marriage,
and your troubles.

I mean, and then to be able to
go out there and rock it with

them in the ring.

When you're with one of your
dearest friends and you go out

and rock a sold out arena,
and you're part

of the reason they're there.

Like, you leave the ring, no
matter who wins, who loses,

who cares, who remembers.

And you're, like,
"Ooh, now what?

Now what?

Now what?

Like, Oh, God, I got to get a
flight at 6:00 AM.

Now what?"

One time I heard Mick Jagger say
something, I can't understand

people using drugs to get up for
a show.

Now, I can understand taking
something to come down,

and I know what he's talking
about,

and that's where I wasn't always
making good decisions.

Here comes The Bad Guy arriving
at another arena.

I can hear Lex Luger's music.

That means only one thing,
another night of WWE action.

But right now, man-- right now,
chicos, I gotta go to work.

On TV, I had this
really cool life,

but then the low, the-the

drop down, like, wow, now I
don't feel that--

I don't feel that rush from the
audience, I don't feel that rush

from the TV cameras.
Like, "Well, now what?

Now what?

You know, what do you got?

What do you got?

You know, I'm a big deal,
remember?"

Have a good holiday season, man,
but be smart.

Don't drink and drive or you
might have to suffer

the consequences.

I went from thinking I wasn't
that important to thinking

I was, kind of,
a really big deal.

- I can't ever recall a time
where Scott was

impaired at work.

Where it was like, "Okay, wait a
minute, you know,

we can't put him out there."

Afterwards, seeing Scott
impaired?

Sure.

Absolutely, and Scott had his
demons.

Scott had his demons
with alcohol.

- In my case and some of the
guys I was hanging out with,

we were taking it to the
next level.

- And we ran hard, you know,

we ran hard

and it was every single night.

- Scott wasn't always a mean
drunk, but probably over half

the time, he would end up there
before the night was over.

There's that fine line there
where it would crossover into,

okay, it's-- we called him
captain redneck.

Yeah.

- We sat there and told
ourselves we only do this when

we're on the road.

This is not the way we're living
our real lives.

We only do this stuff when we're
on the road.

The only problem with that is,
we're on the road 250,

300 times a year.

So if you think about it,
you're really doing it almost

all the time.

- He was supposed to call every
night, and he usually did,

but as soon as he said hello,
I could tell whether he did had

had a sip or not like from--
just from this voice I knew.

And then I'd be upset at him.

He tried really hard in the
beginning.

We had everything,
we had every reason to be happy

and to have a fairytale.

Like our house, we built this
gorgeous house and we called it

Halls' Enchanted Acres, but it
was not Halls' Enchanted Acres.

You can't have a normal life
when you're pretending to be

somebody else that many days of
the month, you know.

Like, it's just-- and I'm sure
there's some guys that can shut

it off, but Scott just couldn't.

He couldn't shut if off.

He got so caught up in that
whole thing that he--

the toothpick will be in his
mouth at home, the curl, the--

you know, the whole thing, the
whole attitude at home

and I'm like,

"Dude, like, leave it at the
door."

- I really felt a freedom when I
became another character.

I got to be this other guy,
I got to be Razor,

because Scott Hall maybe having
a lot of personal difficulties,

but when Razor steps through
that curtain, man,

he ain't got no problems.

His life is great.

It's better than yours.

- Once he became Razor Ramon and
he got so wrapped up into that,

he tried.
He just couldn't do both.

- I know when I was little I
would see him on TV.

I wouldn't necessarily recognize
him because he just looked so

different or he was acting so
different that I would kinda

think that that was The Bad Guy
who took my dad away.

- I'm the guy who thrives on
excitement.

I live my life in the spotlight.

- He would always call me Code,
big Code.

He said, "Code, we're gonna
break the cycle.

Me and you are gonna break the
cycle because I know better.

My father did this to me and was
an alcoholic and would treat my

mom bad and wasn't there for us.

I'm never gonna do this to you,
and then me and you are gonna be

best buds and you're not gonna
do that either."

I think that he just grew up
around that and he soaked it all

in, internalized it.

He never really kinda fought
through it properly.

- Say hi, dad.

- Hi, dad.

- When he would talk about his
relationship with his father,

he just didn't feel he had one,
and I think it was hard for him

to then have the blueprint for
what he was supposed to do

for when anything went wrong.

It was kinda just leave, turn to
the alcohol, or kind of one

thing goes wrong and it's over.

- There were good things.

It was just that there was more
bad things than good things

because he was never there.

Hi, daddy.

We love you.

Hurry home.

He would always say, "I'm doing
what I'm doing for us."

Where'd Daddy go today?

- He's at the airport.

- What you're doing for us is
destroying us.

Stop.

Like, stop.

- It's a difficult place, and it
can be very, very dark.

- I tried to tell him,
"Hey, look, man,

you've got everything.

Just don't blow it."

- I'm the main man in the WWE
and you know it

and everybody here knows it.

- At that time, the contracts
that Vince offered were

opportunities,
no guaranteed money.

I hope I don't get hurt and I
hope I get paid.

I'd been working so hard for
Vince, you know, doing autograph

signings at Walmart for free,
and you would go

because if you don't,
then screw you.

You- do it.

- Scott was looking for less
work, a better schedule,

a schedule that, you know,
wasn't as hectic as our schedule

was and guaranteed money.

- I remember going to Vince and
asking him,

"My pay has plateaued and I'm
wondering what I need to do to

make that big money."

And we couldn't really come to
any kind of agreement,

and I ended up giving my notice.

- I had worked with Scott.

I knew Scott, so I was very well
aware of him, but I was

surprised that he was available.

He was a very prominent
character in WWE at the time.

And I met with Scott and said,
"Okay, we're gonna do a deal."

- You know, it was guaranteed
$1.2 million for like 120 days.

120 days for 1.2.

Guys were making that money
maybe for Vince, but you were

working 300 days for it.

We're done.

Cut.

- We were not in a position to
really offer more.

We were not in a position to go
back and say,

"Hey, Scott, we can match that
or we can do the same thing."

- I remember walking to the ring
in Madison Square Garden that

night, the fans going,
"You sold out."

And I'm going,
"You're right, I did."

[fan yells "You sold out"]

- I felt like I sold out.

I wanted that guaranteed money
to secure my kids' future.

For years and years, my tagline
was, "Say hello to The Bad Guy."

And I remember getting the
microphone in the Garden that

night and going, "Say goodbye to
The Bad Guy."

[fans heckling]

I mean, I felt like,
"Wow, chapter completed.

This chapter is done.

Now I'm gonna go to WCW

and see what's it lay wait
for me there."

- Huge WWE Superstars going to
WCW was still somewhat novel

when Scott Hall walked
in the door.

- Well, what the hell?

Wait a minute.

- Somebody give me a mic.

- So, the idea was, let's have
this guy just show up on TV

in the crowd.

- You know who I am, but you
don't know why I'm here.

People thought Vince sent us
there to crush WCW, and Bischoff

was on board with that concept
and we ran with it.

You want a war,
you're gonna get one.

- WWE is invading WCW.

Razor Ramon just walked
into Monday Nitro.

This is insane.

- Shortly thereafter, Kevin Nash
walks through the door.

- This is where the big boys
play, huh?

- So, now you have these two
guys who had just been very

in pretty prominent stories in
WWE on WCW television.

- We're not Diesel, we're not
Razor, like we're The Outsiders.

We're Hall and Nash.

- The Outsiders.

- Scott was a major, major part
of me getting back on my feet.

I kind of saw what he was doing.

And he was Razor Ramon
turning into Scott Hall.

And damn, I could do that too.

All this crap in the ring
represents these fans out here.

As far as I'm concerned,
you fans can stick it, brother.

You know, I can go from Hulk
Hogan into the other side of me,

the dark side of my personality,
and make that work, you know.

This right here is the future
of wrestling.

You can call this the New World
Order of Wrestling, brother.

- The idea of bringing in a
group that would come in to try

to take control, it's the
essence of a story of anarchy.

Wow, cool.

Yeah, we can make that work.

- The nWo.

- Hogan, Hall, and Nash,
they're going after everybody.

Oh, no.

They are spray painting him.

This is disgusting.

- The black and white, you know,
the headbands, the kind of urban

vibe that became the trademark
for nWo, that was Scott Hall.

- I'd like to say a little word
to all the WCW wrestlers.

You know, guys,
it's only business.

- Scott Hall was so cool that he
made Hulk Hogan cool.

- Well, you know, brothers,
Hollywood,

the nWo is on a roll, brah.

Just for us to come out and have
Scott come out sliding on out

and Kevin doing the wolf pack
thing and me playing the belt.

We looked like we didn't have a
care in the world.

Here's the nWo.

We weren't afraid to get beat
up.

"Are you gonna beat us up?"

Scott, "Ooh, we're scared," you
know.

And he just set the tone that
just everything he did was so

spot on.

It was so smooth.

It was easy to follow.

When somebody just glides in the
room, it's easy to follow in

there once they laid the red
carpet out for you.

- When I went and became part of
the nWo, it was at a whole

different level of notoriety.

They wouldn't know about any
other thing on wrestling, but

they knew what nWo was.

We felt like the Beatles or the
Rolling Stones

or something like that.

- We changed the world, man.

We started to take away people
from Monday Night Football.

- Everybody knows the nWo is the
reason for the success

of Monday Nitro.

- The Outsiders and the nWo,
and we had the Hall

and Nash marketability.

- It's one of the coolest, most
memorable things

in wrestling history.

Scott Hall was the focal point
of it.

Hulk Hogan may have been the
bigger name, Kevin Nash may have

been the bigger guy, but Scott
Hall was the heart and soul

of the nWo.

- All is well in the nWo because
everybody knows when you're nWo,

you're nWo for life.

- The nWo was getting over
so well.

It was so cool to be a part
of it.

And the cheddar was sweet.

I mean, Turner paid great and I
was on the road a lot less now,

so now I'm home more.

- I got to be really spoiled.

And I asked for a pony
[chuckles]

and I got one for Christmas and
my birthday that year.

And then my dad built a barn
next to our house.

So, a lot of, um, my favorite
memories are just us

at the barn every day.

- I loved the father part,
but the husband part wasn't

working out too good at all.

We're not getting along that
good, so I'm almost wishing

I was on the road.

Wanted to be medicated and stuff
started to seem

like a pretty good idea.

At that time, a lot of pills
were being passed

around in bars.

Like, guys would go,

"Here, man. Canadian Valium,
here, take this."

And it was like, "Okay."

And that's a lethal combination.

You know, downers and booze,
a lot of guys are dead

because of that.

- Big Kev and I could drink a
pitcher of beer, a couple of

pitchers of beer, but, you know,
if Kev and I walked away,

Scott would keep going
and never stop.

He didn't do anything halfway.

And so, you know, there were
situations where he would show

up, where it might not be
best to let him talk.

- Backstage, my friend.

You go back.

We'll take care of business.

- His marriage went south.

He just had, like, that snowball
effect of things that just kind

of turned his life around, and,
you know,

he just couldn't pull the
nose up.

You know, I'd talk and talk and
talk and talk to him.

You know, it's just,

"I can't want it more than-than
you. It just doesn't work."

- I had a lot of people were
offering to help me.

I was just-
had a problem accepting help.

You know, it meant that I'm weak
or something's wrong with me,

you know, or-or asking for help
is impossible.

But then accepting help that's
already offered

was really tough for me too.

- When Scott first returned to
WCW, it was May 27th, 1996.

I only remember it because that
was my birthday.

Fast forward now a year and a
half, nWo is on fire, making

money hand over fist, selling
out arenas all over the world.

Things are good.

Now, I'm in a situation where I
have to decide whether to fire

him or whether to just take him
off TV for six months or three

months and get him into
treatment.

It's all gonna hurt.

Every one of those choices has a
price tag.

- Hey, yo.

Tonight, the spectrum looks just
too sweet.

[crowd yells "Too sweet"]

- Whether you're being booed or
cheered, as long as they're

paying attention, it was the
most intoxicating thing

I've ever come across and
I've come across a few.

Then the problem is you gotta go
back through,

re-enter the real world.

- When the nWo really got hot is
when things started

to catch up with him.

- If something ever goes wrong,
Scott Hall is usually right

in the thick of it.

- How many drunks have you seen
in your life that think they're

really, really funny,
but everybody around them

wants to hit them in the head
with a beer bottle?

That was Scott.

He thought he was being funny,
he thought he was being

entertaining, but he really
wasn't.

He was being obnoxious.

- As soon as he started with the
cocaine, then I didn't travel

with him 'cause I knew that at
point, I could lose my contract.

- It got to the point where we
made a conscious decision

not to drink with him.

The problem was when he was on
his own where he kinda like got

away from us, he'd take that
little bit of a walk on the wild

side and then you never knew
where he was gonna end up

or who you were gonna hear from.

- I had our corporate attorneys
call him and say,

"Look, dude, you--
we'll put you in treatment.

We'll-we'll-we'll cover it, but
you got--

you gotta get into treatment."

- I was kinda like Scott's
babysitter in a way.

They put him in rehab and when
he was done with his 28 days,

I pick him up and, like, he
looks great, he's all refreshed

and I'm thinking,

"Oh, good. Maybe he's not gonna
wanna stop at the liquor store."

But we drive by the liquor store
he goes, "Stop here.

I'm getting-- " you know, and he
made me stop

and he got that 12-pack.

He started drinking again
immediately

after he got out of there.

- It was not good.

- He's medicating himself
as addicts do.

Whatever your thing is,
you're-you're medicating

to get through the day.

- I'm not asking for any
sympathy, but I don't--

like I said, I'm one of them
guys who wasn't that keen on

himself, that's why I'm-- I
think I embraced wrestling from

the beginning anyway.

It was an opportunity to be
somebody else 'cause I wasn't

that thrilled about the guy
that I was.

Of course, a lot of people
didn't know.

Then I had these dark secrets
I felt like I was hiding.

Then there was part of me
thinking, you know, I had done

some bad things these people
don't know about.

I'm not a good--
I'm a bad person.

I don't deserve this and it's
all a sham and they're gonna

catch me and, you know, so, you
know, a lot of selfish

destructive thought started to
creep into situations.

- I flew in from Atlanta with
Eric and Scott picked us up

and then we out.

- And I remember I'm sitting in
the back seat and so unsolicited

he turned around and started
telling me the story of what

happened the night when
he was a bouncer.

I was taken back, I didn't know
how to react to it.

I didn't wanna ask any questions
'cause I--

it-it was awkward for me.

And Scott, you know, went into
great detail and he said,

"Kev, Kev, let's go over there.

Let's go over there."

So we ended up driving over to
the club, it was a strip club,

literally walking me through
the event.

And to me, that was the moment
when I realized the demon showed

it's true face and what was
really eating Scott alive.

- Scott was just a haunted
person.

If we were all together, it was
a little bit easier,

but if you were with Scott one
on one, you know,

he would start to unload,
and man it was tough.

You know, because you really
felt for him, and you just-

you could feel there's
no way to help.

- Scott was very religious and,
you know, one of the 10

commandments are thou
shall not kill.

So, Scott always felt that he
wasn't going to go to heaven,

you know, because he killed
somebody.

- I felt like I had a lot of
people fooled that I was this

real nice guy, but really I'm
not, so when I go to a dark

place, it's real dark.

- I understood it, and sometimes
when you understand something,

it's a little harder to be just
cut and dry about it, kind of,

can be a little empathetic and I
tried to be as best as we could.

You try to make it work,
you just have to.

And we tried real hard
to make it work,

but it was a constant challenge.

- It got to the point for me
where my fake life was becoming

really unsatisfying as well.

It just wasn't fun for me and so
I didn't care.

I know that's really immature,
but that's how

I looked at it then.

I remember calling the office
going, "Um, I quit."

- This is a no disqualification
three-way dance

and Scott Hall is going
for the gold.

- The only thing really keeping
me going for a lot of years

is that feeling I got in
front of an audience that,

you know, that-that rush when
I go through the crowd and,

you know, getting to perform.

- Hall's gonna win it.

- So, when you take that away
from me or when that becomes

unsatisfying, it's even worse.

So now what?

I'll take my ball
and go home.

- And now the powerbomb coming
up on Scott Hall.

Getting way up in the air.

Drives him down.

One, two, three.

- He really went off the deep
end when there was lots of

arrests and accidents and
he'd make the local news.

- 911 what's your emergency.

- Last name would be Hall.

First name's Scott.

Extremely impaired drinking
and attempting to possibly drink

himself to death.

- It all led to a guy who was
just completely lost.

And it basically remained that
way all the way up until his

return to WWE when they did the
nWo Invasion angle

the other direction.

[crowd cheering]

- Hall and Nash-

- Oh, no.

- and Hogan.

- Vince called me at home and it
was a cool moment for me,

Vince McMahon calling me and
asking me to come back and-

and do business.

I love this business, anyway,
but when you can, you know,

work with, you know, close
friends of yours, it's-

it's even more rewarding, you
know, and it's a blast and we're

good at causing trouble, so we
came up here to cause trouble.

At this point, I'm struggling
really hard to be a good boy.

I feel great today.

It's a shame the match isn't
today.

I don't know about Sunday.

I was really struggling 'cause I
had been living really crazy

lifestyle, but I'm-I'm
treasuring my opportunity there,

so I'm trying to take
advantage of it.

- Oh, my.

Oh, what a stunner.

A WrestleMania stunner.

A Texas stunner.

- Wait.

- It's over.

Stone Cold has beaten Scott
Hall.

- But that was just kind of a
blur of pills and booze

and, you know, they called me
and said,

"Hey, we've got to talk
about your termination."

I just didn't last long at all.

- I think Scott really wanted to
get along and Scott really

wanted to do right, but I also
don't believe that Scott had

control of his demons

- He became a bit of a pariah.

This business is hard enough and
dangerous enough stone-sober,

concentrating as hard as humanly
possibly.

Imagine how much more dangerous
it is when you add pills

and alcohol to the mix.

- It's hard, you know,
because Scott had some really

tough times, you know.

And, uh, I got some crazy phone
calls over the years with him

needing some help in some of the
situations he was in.

- 911, what's your emergency?

- Are you familiar with Scott
Hall?

He's committing suicide.

He's taken a handful of
Levetira.

- There's just so many things
that happened.

Like I've tried to block a lot
of them out 'cause I don't wanna

remember, but just more verbally
than physically, just putting me

down and everything like that
and-

he couldn't believe I was
divorcing him.

He wrote this letter.

It says, "Baby, please don't
leave.

I'm sorry for my actions.
Let's spend time together.

Let's go to church together.

Let's talk to someone and
work out our problems.

Let's not give up."

I don't know if I can't finish
this.

"I'm sorry for saying ugly
things.

I love you.

And only you.

I don't want to lose you again."

I realized I can't save him.

And I had to save myself
and the kids.

- I mean, I think he used to
drink the vodka because he

always kind of fancied himself,
you know, a bodybuilder,

you know, it's zero calories,
but I mean, he was drinking the

cheapest, like, plastic bottles,
like, two or three a day, and he

really aged at light speed,
the things that

he was doing to himself.

- The Outsiders,
they do whatever the hell

they want, apparently.

- What's going on here?

- Hey, yo.

- They were scheduled for the
main event.

- Well, that's what the people
wanted to hear, obviously.

- I had, like, some friends that
weren't allowed to come over,

couldn't have sleepovers because
their parents knew.

And there was a time that one of
my friends was in the car when

we got into a car accident.

And I just remember her
screaming and crying

on the edge of the door.

She was so scared.

I was just kind of used to it at
that point.

You know, I knew-- I knew we'd
be okay, um, because usually he

was just kind of out of it--

out of it and would swerve off
the road.

But, um, that was the first time
I had a friend with me.

- When Scott started to really
fall into this personal

darkness, the biggest problem
with that for anybody that has

to suffer through it is the
inability to change a person.

Um, nobody's going to change
anybody.

You can pray.

You can talk.

I mean, I-I made personal trips
down.

But it takes the person to want
that real change and to pull

themselves out of that dark
place to-to make it happen.

So it was- that was, uh, you
know, that's where the ugliness

of addiction can turn pride into
shame very, very quickly,

and that happened.

[crowd cheers]

- He broke down tears, actually,
kind of, admitted that,

you know, that he had sometimes
hopes that somebody would

take him out of his misery.

He was looking for someone to
kill him sometimes.

- Scott Hall

[crowd chants "Razor"]

- Scott Hall was one of the big

figures in professional
wrestling.

He was one of those guys who,
kind of, cut through the clutter

and-and transcended wrestling
into the mainstream.

And then this video kind of
starts making its way

around the internet.

And everybody was looking at it
and saying,

"What happened to Scott Hall?

What happened to Razor Ramon,
this charismatic figure,

this guy who was in such great
shape, this incredible hulking

physical presence, who had this
swagger, dashing,

and he's-he's
broken down?"

And it's worse than that.

He seems to be as if he's being
exploited.

And his condition is being
exploited for the crowd.

[crowd boos]

And it's an awful thing to
watch.

- You know, I don't want to die.

But like, I'm not-
I'm not afraid to.

'Cause what's left, man?

What do you do when they quit
chanting your name?

- Why would Scott Hall in that
condition want to be

profiled by ESPN?

He wanted, I think, at some
level, an opportunity to let

people know you're suffering and
to give people an opportunity to

help you, although he had been
being helped by WWE.

- Without giving too many
particulars, it's in the six

figures of how much money we've
spent sending Scott to rehab.

It's the most amount of money
we've spent on anyone.

- Folic acid, lisinopril,
clonidine, cardival,

furosemides for seizures.

Amiodarone, this is for heart
rate.

Did I already say potassium?

I don't know, brother.

All them years of partying,
now I'm taking all these pills

and I don't get a buzz.

There's got to a reason that I'm
still here.

I should have been dead a
hundred times.

I should have been dead a
hundred times.

- He's a picture of dysfunction.

And the producer of that show
for E60, when Scott Hall and he

first meet, where did Scott Hall
want to meet him?

He wanted to meet him at the
scene of the shooting at the

strip club, the Doll House.

- He was reaching for the gun,
so I reached for it too.

We wrestled around with the gun.

I took it and shot him in the
head.

- There were two people in that
moment with each other.

One of them emerged alive,
and we don't know exactly

what happened.

But, you know, i-i-it seems
clear when he talks about it,

even though he describes it as
self-defense, that this is

something that troubled him,
that haunted him.

[crowd chants "Razor"]

- There's so much sadness.

The way that he could not
control his demons,

I think his-his story stands in
many ways as a warning.

- Scott called me and said he
had a gun, like, you know,

he was gonna take himself out.

So I called Dallas to- for help,
to ask for help with him.

- He said, "I need a favor.

Scott said he's got a gun and
he's gonna kill himself.

Will you please call him?"

We're filming this documentary,

in the house I'm living in.

Lower yourself down to the
ground.

- Sweet Jesus.

When Jake had moved in with me
2012, he was 60 days sober.

I'm calling Scott, and I'm
calling him never thinking he's

gonna pick up the phone.

And he does.

[phone rings]

- What?

- Scottie.

- What?

- Jake.

- Jake and Dally.

- Who is this?

- Dallas.

Dallas Page.

- Oh, Dally.

My gosh.

- And Jake.

- You got Jake?

I heard- I heard Jake's doing
wonderful things.

- Yeah, man.

- I heard-- Yeah, I heard you
put-- Jake's on the right path.

- Yeah, we're there, bro.

- I'm so glad.

I'm so happy.

- There's room for one more,
man.

- This is a guy who,
physically, you would think,

"Oh, well, there's-- nothing can
stop him, you know."

But he couldn't walk.

He was in a wheelchair.

- I'm dying, Jake.

I'm dying.

I've been drinking vodka for
breakfast.

- You don't need to.

- The only- the o-- I mean,
the only thing that's put

in my body today has been vodka.

"Hey, just come up- come
stay with me for a while."

And I thought, "Okay, let's go
to rehab and go see Dally."

What's the difference?

I can always go to rehab.

Let me try something
different.

- Inhale.

Sweep up.

- Diamond Dallas Page
took him in.

And he seemed to be doing
really, really good.

- Lately, I've been so happy.

I owe a lot to Dally.

You know, I wasn't looking
for anything

but just a safe place to be.

- Four.

- Just was around a positive
vibe and no judgment,

and so it seemed like a great
fit for me.

I ended up staying with Dallas
for several months.

- It was the right time,
the right place, um, and he gets

all the credit for breathing
life into somebody that was

desperately trying to-
to end his.

- It blew my mind how he could
go from looking horrific to

looking like a male model.

- I get the phone call, like,
"They're gonna put you in the

Hall of Fame. Can you fit it
in?"

I'm going, "Well, I might have
to move a few things on my

schedule 'cause I was gonna go
to the gym then and go to the

tanning salon, but I guess I
could flip flop it and,

you know, like."

It's like, "Yeah, are you
kidding me? I'm available."

- The Hall of Fame was
just perfect.

The recognition of his peers.

The recognition of the people
that he entertained

for all those years.

It made his misery
worthwhile to him.

- Ladies and gentlemen,
Razor Ramon.

- People were getting to see
him at his best again.

And kind of seeing him through
the other side of the journey.

I was just really proud of him.

[crowd cheers]

- Scott, he told me how he was
gonna finish it.

He says, "I just wanna make it
short and sweet, you know,

get to the point."

- Hard work pays off.

Dreams come true.

Bad times don't last,

but Bad Guys do.

[crowd cheers]

- Pretty powerful moment.

Pretty cool.

And just great to see that.

You know, listen, things may
have never gotten perfect for

Scott Hall, but it was beautiful
to still see him get his flowers

and have his moment.

- I remember seeing Scott Hall
at the Hall of Fame, and I was

like, to Maryse, I was like,
"We gotta get a picture."

She's like, "Yeah, we do."

I don't ask for people to-to
take a picture with me.

I asked Scott Hall for a
picture, and it's-

it's a pretty amazing picture.

Look at that, huh?

And he just oozes coolness.

Like, he's just so cool.

- It just felt great and to be
able to look these guys right in

the eye and be clearheaded
and be in good shape

and stuff again.

"And what you doing?"

"I'm doing pretty good, man.
How are you doing?"

Like, and-and it to be true.

- Just the sheer joy to be
around him, to-to get to share

that time with him.

It's a great place to be.

- What's your plan
the rest of the night?

Are you gonna have a big
celebration or what?

- No.

I will probably will hang with
my buddies and go get

something to eat and--

- That's it?

- Yeah.
Who knows?

We are in New Orleans, but I'm
living a different lifestyle

than I used to-

- Exactly.

- so I'll pro-probably lay low.

As I look back on it now, I try
to make better decisions and,

right now, it ain't all about
money to me.

It's all about doing the next
right thing.

I mean, I know that sounds
hokey, and I know this is

wrestling and it's not my image,
but people say money

don't buy happiness.

Only people with money
understand that.

I have sat in my big ass mansion
all alone, with no friends,

with all the toys and
no one to play with.

And so I've restructured my
life where it's more important

to me about relationships
and things that are real.

Like, when I sit around and
think, now what, now what?

Okay.

I wanted a family.

I got a great family, you know.

I wanted to be a big time
pro-wrestler.

Did it, you know.

Now what, now what?

And I think helping people can
be really satisfying.

You got two good performances.

- Yeah.

- Good stuff, you're really
starting to hit your stride.

- Yeah.

- You look like your comfortable
in the ring, you know.

You did it.

That's great.

- Yeah.

- He liked to help mentor, like,
take younger guys

under his wing.

- Get over it.

Yeah.

Get over it.

That's the whole thing.

That's what everybody
wants you to get.

- I still pinch myself to this
day, to sit there and to

literally conversate, talk as a
peer, as a-- as a person who's

in the same profession
and does the same thing.

It still blows my mind
to this day.

- But just to talk to these
young guys because

I've been there.

Been the guy who never made it,
been the guy who made it.

Been the guy who never drank,
been the guy who drank too much.

I said, "Hey bro, I'm not
against drinking [bleep] drink.

I'm not successful at it."

I said, "But you gotta figure
it into your diet."

- Yeah.

- Like, if you're gonna drink
some beers at night,

then don't eat carbs at night.

- Scott pulled me to the side.

He was like, "Dally, I gotta be
honest.

I like to drink, you know.

I'm never gonna
tell people not to drink.

I'm never gonna say, uh,
I'm not gonna take a drink."

And I said, "Let's figure out
how to keep you sober

when you need to be sober."

- He had his moments where he
would sober up and clean up.

As much as you hoped
he wouldn't you were just-

waiting for him to fall off the
wagon again.

- Speed.

- Sound is rolling.

- All right.

Sound is rolling.

- So Scott, whenever you're
ready.

- I find myself back at the Doll
House in the parking lot where,

gosh, over 33 years ago, a
life-changing event happened.

Um, a guy pulled a gun on me in
the parking lot over here, right

in that back corner, and we were
wrestling around with the gun

and he ended up dead.

Um, .45 caliber hollow point
at point-blank range.

It was horrifying.

I mean, like, brains all
over me and

I can't do this, man.

I've been told that
post-traumatic stress disorder

is-is gonna be something, that
it's-it's gonna be a big

hurdle for me be-before worrying
about other issues,

I can't get anywhere until I
deal with that.

- Every time he would get drunk,
it was just dying

to come out of him.

I heard the story
a hundred times.

He would get that thousand-yard
stare.

They say, you know, he'd look
right through me.

He talked about, "God, Code, I
can still feel the blood

splatter on my face.

I can still smell the parking
lot.

I can still hear the sounds."

He would really go to that place
and it would be really eerie.

- He kind of just buried it down
and didn't deal with how

traumatic it was to take
someone else's life, um

He kind of just got
to the point

where he felt he deserved it

or that he didn't
deserve better, you know.

He kind of-- he kind of just
felt that was all he was worth

was just a bottle of tequila.

And then, no matter how much I
would tell him, or anyone would

tell him that I cared, he
just-- And for some reason so

deep within himself, just didn't
feel he could accept it

or wasn't worthy of it.

- When something like that
happens, hmm, it eats at you.

And, uh, no amount of positivity
can land on you,

unless you want it to.

- I think it was, uh, something
that he couldn't shake,

you know.

So I think that was always, uh,
a dark spot that-

that haunted him.

- Scott would always say
I have a problem with alcohol.

I says, "No, Scott.

Your solution to your problem is
alcohol.

The problem is, you can't
forgive yourself."

- He was tormented, and he
drank and he did drugs

and he did all that stuff
because of that torment and um

you could feel there's no
way to help.

- I can remember us
touching on it.

You do the whole like, "Gosh,
you shouldn't really

not worry about that.

You know, it wasn't your fault,"
and yada, yada, yada.

You say all the right stuff, but
nobody ever takes the time to

sit there and deal with it.

Why deal with the real stuff
when we can sit here and make

the pain go away with this stuff
and we live in this make believe

fantasy world where everybody
thinks we're cool.

That's a heck of a lot better
than dealing with the reality

that you killed somebody.

- COVID really hit him hard.

He really didn't leave the house
for two years.

He was really scared of getting
sick, and so he was just kind of

sitting in the dark, you know.

He definitely, kind of, just
fell into that pit and, kind of,

just had his demons all around
him and nowhere to go.

- That's what happened those
last couple of years and it's,

you know, COVID is a thing that
was so bad because being trapped

at home, you know, it was--
it was just too dark.

And he was in a dark spot.

It was horrible, you know.

- Yeah, you got to make sure
you reel yourself in.

You got to have that
check-and-balance system.

I don't know, because Scott was
alone a lot, I don't know if he

had that check-and-balance
system, you know.

That was our concern, is when we
wouldn't hear from him.

You know, "Kev, have you heard
from Scott?"

"No, I haven't heard from him
for a couple weeks."

I was like, "Oh,[bleep]."

- Scott would drink so much.

And he-he would go, like, from
fine to just out in minutes.

One of the last times that--
and-and this is, I mean, I hate

to, you know, I feel like I'm
narcing out my friend, but-

it was the night before we
were going in to the

Hall of Fame.

We're talking.

Out of my peripheral vision,
I just see him from a barstool

about that tall, just-
just teetering.

I mean, wham.

- Scott had taken some pills and
started pounding the Vodka

cranberries and-and completely
passed out.

He was done.

He was out.

And yeah, people were--
they had to step over him.

Neither one of us could
budge him.

He was just dead weight, like
300 pounds of dead weight.

- That was when I just said to
myself, like, he is-- this is

like the worst I've ever seen
him.

- Now, uh, we knew it.

Like, we knew, like the-
the days were numbered.

- It was something you never
want to see anyone living in.

I mean, it was just a dark nest.

It was just cluttered and he
had just kind of given up.

- This message is for
Cassidy Hall.

I have you listed as an
emergency contact for a patient.

If you could please call.

Um, we need to speak
to you very emergently.

Thank you.

- He fell in his house and he
busted his hip and uh,

he had to get his hip fixed.

- I think COVID pretty much did
him in because it made him stay

in that little place and, you
know, not interact and not do

the things that he liked to do
and not be physically

active and all that.

That's what weakened him to the
point that something like

that could happen.

I don't think he ever
anticipated being in a situation

where he was, like, that weak,
you know?

Uh, I mean,

[laughs]

he said- he said, "Man, I
spent about three days on that

floor, not able to get help
for myself."

- I was in Georgia with him in
the hospital.

I remember he told me, um, you
know, like, oh,

I have the best daughter.

Like, thank you so much for
coming and helping me.

And, um, and so I told him, no,
I have the best dad.

And, you know, we both just
cried because I cry,

when he cries.

So he was crying at that.

Um, and I just told him, you
know, you-

you are the best dad to me.

Um, and yeah, I flew home and
then two nights later I got a

call that he had had three
heart attacks.

Um, he was in the ICU and then
we flew back.

- I really believe that as long
as he didn't have any real

success, he could've lived
with it.

And that's because inside Scott
Hall was a good man.

- The day is finally here, the
day we've been, oh--

- They're-They're-They're pretty
much he's on life support.

They're just waiting for
everybody to get--

to get to the hospital.

I told him I loved him

- They say the hearing's one
of the last things to go.

So I like to try to believe
that.

So I came and I played some of
his songs that I knew he liked

and tried to talk to him,
and uh say goodbye.

So I hope he heard me.

- Just trying to come up with
the words to say to him

to express my gratitude

How much--

how much I loved him,
you know.

- Oh, my God.

And that was that.

- When I got the call that he
passed,

it was a call I had been
dreading for years.

it wasn't-it was sudden.

But it wasn't.

You'd been prepping for that
call for, you know,

twenty years, you know,
it was brutal.

- I got the news that he
passed away.

I can't--

I don't think
I can do this one.

[birds chirping]

- These red cedars here, they've
lost some of their limbs, but

these were the spots where he'd
get his-

his pictures with the kids.

He loved being here in this--
in this spot right here down

at Church Point.

It's a beautiful spot.

It's very-- it's fitting.

It's fitting.

- I think he helped
a lot of people.

I think he made
a lot of people happy.

He put more good
into the world than he did bad.

And that's all you can
really try and do.

- I think it was phenomenal what
he did, and I'm so happy that,

you know, he shared that with
the world and that he, you know,

got to find that pride in it.

Um, But yeah, really, I would
just say my dad was a great dad.

- Scott could never see the true
goodness in him

while everybody else could.

It goes back to what he said.

Outside of that ring, my life's
a mess, but in it,

can't nobody touch me.

- Everybody knows nobody can
beat The Bad Guy.

- He'll be remembered for being
The Bad Guy,

but he was a hell of a good guy.

- Boy, he is just dripping with
the gold and the machismo.

I can smell it in the air.

- People will talk about Scott
Hall when

they talk about the greats.

I mean, the legacy is just
coolest guy in WWE ever.

- I look at Scott Hall as one of
the most unbelievable performers

that has ever graced the ring.

He was able to take a character
and make it larger than life.

- I living the good life.

I living like a king, chico.

- He was a pivotal guy at a
pivotal time.

- Razor Ramon, the new
Intercontinental Champion.

- You know, Scott's attitude
sets the tone for what was cool.

- You want my autograph?

Don't sing it.

Bring it.

- Scott Hall's legacy is that of
one of the most charismatic,

interesting, talented superstars
of all time.

- He was a wonderful, caring,
kind, brilliant human being, and

he cared about people and he
loved his friends

and he loved his kids.
