trouble, he stayed out of it.

he plowed right in.

I could see where a man riding
alone could find that to be real sensible.

the shoulder right now, this minute,

it'd have to be that fella
that just walked out of here.

guilty of robbery and murder.

Believe me. I thought

I started drinking, and...

things got confused in my mind.

And I saw Sam that night
out in the yard,

and I went out to talk to him.

He said he was getting ready
to go to the dance.

We argued.

Before I knew it,
our guns were out,

and I shot him,
and he creased my arm.

I knew I'd never
be able to explain it.

I made up that story, and Sam
said he'd go along with it.

I went to the safe and got the
money and planted it at Shiloh.

Everyone knew you had
hired some new hands.

Believe me, I didn't think
Sam would die...

or the charge would be murder.
