- My name is David.

Kids call me Pastor D,
but I'm a youth pastor,

and I lead a youth group
here at Bethany church,

and I have the greatest job in
the world.

Once a week, I bring a
group of teens together

to become friends.

I grew up going to youth group.

My youth pastor, Jimmy was
the coolest guy I knew.

Taught me to like sports.

He taught me to like games,

and he said I had a great arm.

It's not all fun and games
though I mean,

youth group is hard work.

I work very hard.

Some of the things I do,

some of the preparations I
have to do are not always easy.

- I'm sorry Hannah.

- [David] I'm a friend.

I'm their best friend.

Sometimes their only friend,

and I'm the guy who gets
them out of their shell.

I'm the guy who brings them
hopefully closer to Jesus,

but hopefully closer to
other kids to connect,

and have a life experience
together.

I'm a leader.

I'm an example for these kids,

and I wanna show them
that I'm the friend too.

So if there's a kid sitting
in the corner by himself

I'm drawn to him.

I got to,

he's lonely.

He needs a friend and I'm
willing to be that friend.

If no one else in the group is
willing

to sit with him I will.

[upbeat music]

Some a little business
before pleasure or things.

Once a year, churches from all
over New England get together

and go to Camp Changed.

Camp Changed is in Vermont.

It's in the middle of the woods.

Kids hang out, play games,

and they compete,

and it's a lot of fun.

What they don't tell you is
that once a year churches

from all over New England
get together at Camp Changed

to find out that Bethany
church is the best youth group

in the world.

Honestly, if there's
one part of Christianity

that I don't get behind
it's that this idea

that we as Christians have
to turn the other cheek.

What would happen if
David gave up to Goliath,

or what would happen if Daniel
turned his cheek to the lion?

She's amazing.

A very godly woman,

and she's going to be joining
you at camp.

- And what, she's coming to
camp?

me considering I'm pregnant,

These are the youth group kids.

Well, there's a few more,

but these are the most godly
ones that sign up for camp.

and this is Stephen who were
working on.

He does not talk to me,

He's kind of a waste of time.

- It's really great to meet all
of you.

because she is so kind

- I saw that you had a dog in

when your mom dropped you off,

- Yeah.

- This group has changed
because Rachel's a woman,

that we not only develop
lifelong friendships

over these next few days,

but that we all grow in our
relationship with Jesus Christ.

This year's theme is unity,

so every day we're gonna have
lessons

and team building exercises.
