[The Journey of Legend]

[Episode 32]

Mr. Fei,

is something wrong?

If this is the real Thousand-Faces Mask,

cut off from a living person for so long,

without the Fei family's internal energy to sustain it,

it should've dissolved into blood long ago.

But look,

the skin is still intact.

It's clearly a fake.

But how could that be?

This object is connected to a few major cases in the martial world.

It's more than just your family's affair.

My father's sword?

Why is my father's sword in this coffin?

Is my father the one buried here?

Mr. Fei,

just speak plainly.

If word spreads that the Thousand-Faces Mask still exists,

it will cause a huge storm.

When that happens, the Fei family

will definitely be doomed.

Five years ago,

when Danfeng returned from his mission for the Imperial City Division,

he was hunted by Zhu the Great King.

I rushed to his aid,

but on the way, I encountered Zhu the Great King's subordinate,

Lord Roushui.

I thought he was the one hunting Danfeng,

so I used all my strength to kill him with the Marrow-Disrupting Finger.

But when I removed his mask,

I discovered it was my own son, Danfeng.

Danfeng!

Danfeng!

After that, I crippled my internal energy

and vowed never to use the Marrow-Disrupting Finger again.

Grandfather,

my father...

was killed by you?

Grandfather, give me back my father!

-Young Master! -Give me back my father!

Grandfather, give me back my father!

Let's go, Young Master!

Give me back my father!

Grandfather!

Grandfather.

Mr. Fei.

What grudge did Zhu the Great King have against Fei Danfeng?

To be frank,

the martial arts of the Fei family were never top-tier

among the Three Mystical Families.

It was only because of the Thousand-Faces Mask

that we could establish ourselves in the martial world.

That day, Danfeng was following the Imperial City Division's secret order

to secretly investigate Zhu the Great King's identity.

He discovered Constable Tieyi is Zhu the Great King.

To get the Thousand-Faces Mask,

he tricked me into killing Danfeng.

Zhu the Great King is Constable Tieyi?

Could it be he was the one who fabricated the story

that Baicao Valley colluded with Northern Wasteland?

If the Thousand-Faces Mask is in his hands,

the one who disguised himself as Chief

and tricked me into killing Tianzheng and Taichan

must have been him.

What's done is done.

I'll say no more.

Mr. Xiao,

I hope in the future, you'll

give an explanation to everyone in the martial world.

No matter what bloodshed the Thousand-Faces Mask stirs up again,

prove that the Fei family has nothing to do with it.

Please.

Mr. Fei, no need for such formality.

[Taiji Palace]

Chief Li,

it's getting late.

Please.

[Daxi's emperor]

I, Chenzhou,

pay my respect to Your Majesty.

Chenzhou.

Chenzhou, you're here.

Long time no see,

and you're still as impressive as ever.

I thought

you didn't want to drink with me anymore.

Come. Hurry.

Join me for a few drinks.

Sit down quickly.

Look,

I'm thoughtful, right?

The dishes I prepared are all your favorites.

Here.

Hurry.

Eat.

The waterway transport was tedious.

I only reached the capital after nightfall.

Sorry for disturbing you.

After all this time apart,

you're still so impatient.

Fine.

Let's discuss business first.

[Memorial]

Look.

This memorial states

a censor has accused your Power Gang

of misappropriating treasury assets

and distributing them to various sects in the martial world.

It states the Power Gang took 90%,

and the other sects in the martial world took 10%.

Is that true?

I am guilty, Your Majesty.

Winter has come in the north,

and the soldiers lacked food and clothing.

I couldn't bear it.

So I sent 90% of the treasures to the front lines.

The war situation was critical

and could change rapidly,

so I didn't report this matter.

In this matter, I indeed overstepped the bounds.

I willingly accept punishment.

I see what you mean.

You mean

I was thoughtless

and neglected the soldiers.

Since that's the case,

there's nothing more to say.

Chenzhou,

drink this cup of wine

and you may leave.

Chenzhou.

I'll go get you an imperial physician.

No need.

I knew about the memorial of accusation,

so I rushed here.

Actually,

you didn't need to come here yourself.

Perhaps His Majesty wouldn't have...

Prince Liang,

do you think the snow falls

because of a single day's cold?

I always thought

you angrily left the court and wandered the martial world

because you were dissatisfied with many of the court's policies.

As a prince,

I'm inevitably burdened by the state affairs,

constrained within these uncomfortable official robes.

Now, seeing you risking your life to remonstrate,

I finally understand why you did all that.

Now I know my past judgments were prejudiced.

I'm so sorry.

Throughout my life,

my actions have been like a wild goose treading on snow.

What others think of me

doesn't matter to me

at all.

Hearing you say that

reminds me of someone.

But when the wild goose flies away, who'd care if it goes east or west?

If one day you're gone,

in this vast world,

who can accomplish the tasks you left unfinished?

Your Majesty,

after the Power Gang

took the treasures from the Nantian Abyss,

they indeed converted them into supplies and sent them to the front lines.

Trying to buy loyalty?

Did you find the object?

The men I sent were outmaneuvered by Li Chenzhou.

The Royal Seal was not found at the Nantian Abyss.

Your Majesty, please calm your anger.

Please punish me.

Chenzhou's little schemes

won't stay hidden much longer.

Now that he's afflicted with that severe poison,

he has to come to me every month

to beg for the antidote to stay alive.

I'd like to see how tough he is

and how long he can hold out.

Your Majesty, you're wise.

With your support, the waterways

already possess the capability

to rival the Power Gang in the martial world.

It won't be easy for Li Chenzhou

to cause trouble.

Enough, Constable.

Rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Daxi and Northern Wasteland have seen incessant wars these years.

The people have suffered immensely.

It weighs heavily on my mind.

Li Chenzhou has toiled for so many years.

It's time for him to rest now.

From now on,

the martial world of Daxi will be entrusted to you.

Do not disappoint me again.

I will serve with utmost dedication.

I saw what you did at the Fei family.

You said in front of everyone

you despise bullying the weak most of all.

Xiao Qiushui,

I want to ask you for a favor.

Will you help me or not?

You've been following me.

Do you know about the calamity that befell the Xiao family?

I don't know who harmed your family,

but I know the truth

about what Danfeng was investigating back then.

You want to use that as payment for my help?

Fei Yuqiao, Master of the Fei family.

I should have died long ago.

But I am unwilling.

Look at my face.

This is the consequence of using the Thousand-Faces Mask.

So using the Thousand-Faces Mask

for a long time

actually results in this.

That's not all.

Every time the mask is used,

it greatly depletes one's internal energy.

With the slightest carelessness,

one's life will be at risk.

The Fei family established its place in the martial world

because of the Thousand-Faces Mask,

yet was also destroyed by it.

Everyone in the martial world covets the mask.

Look at the Fei family.

For its sake,

we fought to the death.

Back then, I removed the mask and went into seclusion while I was weak.

But I was betrayed by my servant,

becoming a wandering ghost.

So you want me to help you reclaim the mask?

No.

The Thousand-Faces Mask is now adrift in the martial world.

It could cause widespread harm.

I just want to find it

and destroy it completely.

Why do you trust me?

Being a ghost for so long

has made me see people more clearly.

Xiao Qiushui,

I'm sorry about your parents' death.

Though we weren't close,

your father was the hero I admired most.

Let me tell you,

the person who hunted Danfeng back then

also used the Marrow-Disrupting Finger.

Zhu the Great King?

Correct.

I transcribed the technique into a manual

and lent it to Constable Tieyi.

He must have memorized it then.

Find Constable Tieyi

and destroy the Thousand-Faces Mask in his possession.

The Fei family's object

must not be allowed to create more scumbags in the martial world.

Mr. Xiao.

Mr. Xiao,

please!

Sir.

Thank you.

I finally found you.

This is your retribution!

Tell me,

how to cure it?

My face is your future!

No one can cure the Thousand-Faces Mask's backlash!

The martial world has one more monster, neither human nor ghost!

[Song Residence]

[Unbridled and Clear]

It's you.

Xiao Yiren,

I've been waiting for you.

Aren't the Long River waterways enough for you to occupy and enrich yourself?

You've actually colluded with Northern Wastelanders.

What exactly are you up to?

Colluding?

Enriching myself?

I'm not that shallow.

Look.

At the Nantian Abyss,

did I ever ask you to seize a single coin for me?

Li Chenzhou is the one enriching himself.

He converted half of the treasures at the Nantian Abyss into supplies

and sent them to the front lines.

But that's not what His Majesty wants to see.

As I told you last time,

if the war between Daxi and Northern Wasteland continues,

it will exhaust our people and resources.

No matter how much treasure we have, it only fills holes

and disappears with each battle.

I'm just trying to ease His Majesty's burdens.

If that's really the case,

why didn't you tell me clearly before?

You tricked me into going to the Nantian Abyss

and made me lose all face.

The Xiao family's reputation built over generations

has been ruined!

I would ruin anything

but never the Xiao family's reputation.

You don't believe me?

[Loyalty and Righteousness of Jinzhong]

His Majesty heard of your desire to serve the court,

so he personally wrote 4 characters as a gift to your family.

With this imperial edict,

the Xiao family's prestige

will likely surpass even that of Shaolin and Wudang.

Now His Majesty needs loyal men.

Serve well,

and you will bring glory to your ancestors

in no time.

Isn't that right?

Go.

Go eliminate someone for His Majesty.

You just need to wait.

When needed,

I will come to you.

[Xiao Residence]

-Thank you, Your Majesty. -Thank you, Your Majesty.

-Long live the emperor! -Long live the emperor!

Rise.

Congratulations, Mr. Xiao, on proving worthy of His Majesty's favor.

We're leaving now.

Yiren.

Xiaoyi.

Look.

This is the plaque personally bestowed by His Majesty:

Loyalty and Righteousness of Jinzhong.

When has our family ever had such honor?

It was personally bestowed by His Majesty?

That's wonderful.

You guys may leave now.

-Yes. -Yes.

Yiren,

I assume the Nantian Abyss matter has been cleared up?

Regarding the Nantian Abyss matter,

I will make the whole world understand sooner or later.

Yiren,

I don't mean to dampen your spirits.

It's just the more I think about it,

the more strange the plaque's bestowal seems.

The Northern Wastelanders haven't been found,

and your reputation hasn't been restored.

So why would His Majesty personally bestow a plaque?

What do you mean by that?

Are you suggesting that the Xiao family

isn't worthy of an imperial plaque?

Or the Xiao family

doesn't deserve the title "Loyalty and Righteousness of Jinzhong"?

You kept saying you'd help me restore the Xiao family.

But now that I've done it,

why are you so uncomfortable?

Yiren, that's not what I meant.

Of course I'm happy for you.

It's just I feel that this place

seems bustling now,

but it's just a facade.

It completely lacks the imposing spirit

Huanhua Sect had at its peak.

It seems...

people's hearts aren't here.

Then where are their hearts?

Are they

with Qiushui's Shenzhou Sworn Brotherhood?

Now that I have His Majesty's favor,

they will submit sooner or later.

I'll let you see Huanhua grow stronger.

Xiao Qiushui,

why must you ruin my plans wherever you are?

[Fei Yuqiao]

Things have come this far now.

No one will be able to hinder me anymore.

[Vast as Sea]

Delicious.

Good.

Hey! Hey!

What are you doing?

There's plenty more!

Why are you grabbing?

There's enough for everyone.

Fifth Thug!

Fifth Thug! Fifth Thug!

Fifth Thug!

Fifth Thug! Fifth Thug!

You're finally back, Fifth Thug!

Fifth Thug.

Eat.

You have some more.

I want it. I want it.

Give it to me. Give it to me.

Give it to me.

Fifth Thug.

You came here for treatment, right?

-Yes. -Yes.

Originally,

our arms and legs fixed by Miss Tang

just didn't work properly occasionally.

You did that on purpose!

Gradually, we've gotten used to it.

But it's inconvenient for us to travel in the martial world.

You once told us

that Xueyu is kind-hearted

and skilled in medicine,

and she can cure us.

We came to look for her before

but couldn't find her.

So we came again today.

But right now, she is at the medicine hut.

I also came here looking for someone.

Your issues seem to be with your joints and meridians.

How about this?

I have a good friend

at Biechuan Temple.

He's called Grand Master Dayin.

Go to him.

Tell him you're Xiao Qiushui's friends.

-Okay. -Okay.

That's great.

Since you're already here,

go in and have a seat.

-Sure. -That sounds good!

-Let's go in and have a seat. -Sounds great.

Fifth Thug, your house is so big.

-Do you have anything tasty? -It's so spacious in there.

That's right.

We want something delicious.

Yes, of course.

How has everyone been lately?

Pretty good.

Pretty good.

We saw a murder on our way here last time.

That's right.

Someone was murdered.

It was that damned Constable Tieyi.

-Yes. -I had wanted to kill him for ages.

He was pushed off a cliff by someone.

Constable Tieyi?

That's right.

Yes, yes.

Yes, it was him.

That old jerk.

I had wanted to kill him for ages.

Second Thug,

you were talking about Constable Tieyi from Liushan Sect?

Yes.

It was him.

It was that old jerk.

Then tell me,

what happened?

After we parted ways,

we felt the inconvenience of our arms and legs for the first time.

So we wanted to come to Xueyu for help.

On the mountain path,

we saw a person in black

push Constable Tieyi off the cliff.

Mur... Mur...

I never expected you to be so ruthless.

You killed so many people.

Are you sure

it was really Constable Tieyi you saw?

-Yes. -Yes, how could we be wrong?

-We couldn't possibly be wrong. -Even if my eyes blurred,

we had 8 eyes in total.

Right, 8 eyes.

We couldn't all be wrong.

Exactly.

We had played cat and mouse with that old fox

-for so many years. -So many years.

We'd recognize him even if he turned into ashes.

Yes. Second Thug is right.

Fifth Thug, if you don't believe us,

I-I'll take you there to see for yourself.

-It's right at the bottom of that cliff. -Yes.

The body might still be there.

That's right.

It must be there.

Let's go.

Let's go take a look.

Let's go.

-Let's go. -We're not having tea?

-Fifth Thug, over here. -Fifth Thug, over here.

He did know how to use the Marrow-Disrupting Finger.

It seems Constable Tieyi is truly dead.

Then the current Zhu the Great King in the martial world

must be the killer disguised with the Thousand-Faces Mask.

Four Thugs.

Before he died, he said

that person in black killed many people?

-Yes. -That's right.

This place is humid.

Even if the body was exposed for months,

it shouldn't be this shriveled.

In the novel, the Asura Seal technique in the Voidheart Codex

seems to be able to absorb others' power,

leaving the victims as dried-up corpses.

What martial art could do such a thing?

Could it be the Voidheart Codex?

-The... The Voidheart Codex? -The Voidheart Codex?

Did I overlook something?

Four Thugs.

Listen,

go quickly and find Zhu the Great King's lair.

-No problem. -Okay.

-Okay. -Okay.

[Xiao Residence]

Someone secretly practiced the Voidheart Codex carved in Sword Manor

and then destroyed it.

Could it be...

someone had been lurking

in Sword Manor just like Zhu Xiawu?

Li Chenzhou said

when Liu Suifeng arrived that day,

Sword Manor had already been breached from within.

Sword Manor was impregnable.

Breaking in from the outside

was nothing easy.

Big Brother,

when Yuhan and I led people to collect the bodies,

we already discovered that the Qianji Lock at the back of Sword Manor

had been opened.

Huanhua's Qianji Lock is very intricate

and extremely difficult to break.

Though the Qianji Lock is small,

it contains 2 mechanisms.

Two mechanisms?

It's completely different from any lock you've seen.

To open it, it requires

simultaneous action from both inside and outside.

Both inside and outside?

Both inside and outside?

Only someone

who understands the Qianji Lock can open it.

He killed everyone,

took the Thousand-Faces Mask,

and disguised himself as Zhu the Great King.

Only Father, Mother, and my 2 brothers

know how to open that lock.

Impossible.

Yiren and Kaiyan

both arrived at Sword Manor after I did.

Impossible.

This is impossible.

Big Brother,

you've already done everything you could.

Don't blame yourself anymore.

That day, your brother Kaiyan went ahead to scout the path.

He returned saying the road ahead was blocked.

With no other options,

Yiren had to take a detour,

which delayed us considerably.

Then how did Kaiyan

get back?

After he got separated from us,

he fought his way through all obstacles

to get back to Sword Manor.

It was you.

Qiushui.

I went to buy osmanthus cakes.

I heard they say you came back,

so I specially brought you some.

Xiaoyi,

are Yiren and Kaiyan...

in Xiao Villa now?

Yiren has a meeting with someone

and isn't in the villa.

Kaiyan seems to have gone to Pipa Pavilion for drinks.

Xiaoyi.

What's wrong?

Nothing.

[Winning over Luzhou's governor by offering him power and a high position]

[Some of our elite soldiers have infiltrated merchant caravans]

[Investigate the military deployments at Qiliang Pass]

[It is crucial to our subsequent plans]

Qiushui?

What brings you here?

Today, I happened to have prepared a table of dishes

our parents loved when they were alive.

You're in for a treat.

Try some.

Mother always loved

brewing tea for us in the past.

At that time,

she loved making all kinds of pastries.

In those days,

I always thought I could enjoy them forever.

Unfortunately,

Mother's cooking

is something we can never taste again.

Why bring this up?

Why talk

about such sad things?

Father and Mother

died so unjustly and unclearly.

Kaiyan,

I still can't figure out

who

could hate them so much.

Life is unpredictable.

Nothing is certain.

Then just reset.

Reset

and buff the character with more golden cheats.

You're R.

You're quite clever.

R.

Li Nan, it really is you.

Xiao Kaiyan.

What is this about?

Why have your martial skills

improved so much?

Qiushui,

are you the only one allowed to have fortuitous encounters?

Am I not allowed to work hard?

Then tell me,

when did you

learn these unorthodox techniques from others?

Is it the Voidheart Codex?

I don't know what nonsense you're talking about.

Stop pretending.

The method to open Huanhua's Qianji Lock—

Father only told us 3 brothers.

You're still quibbling!

Who's out there?

Father!

It's me, Kaiyan!

It's Kaiyan.

You returned to Sword Manor in advance

and secretly practiced the Voidheart Codex.

You killed our parents

and destroyed the entire Xiao family!

Tell me,

why?

Why?

Why did you do that?

Why?

Father.

Mother.

You're... alright?

Where are Yiren and Qiushui?

They'll be here soon

with the branch disciples.

I can't believe Qiushui actually did it.

He did it. He did it.

Why?

You were the most favored in the Xiao family.

You always encounter good fortune and opportunities.

Of course you don't know why!

I, Xiao Kaiyan,

rely on my own efforts to change my own destiny.

This time,

I will take back everything!
