It's one of the most exciting matches of
the year every year.

All it takes is to climb that ladder and
grab that briefcase.

The briefcase has a contract in it.

You can cash in any place, any time.
Gets you a guaranteed title shot at any

time at your choosing.

When the ladder's underneath that
briefcase, business picks up.

My God!

What a match.

Corbin took out both men.

There's no one in sight.

You always watch from home. Why is it
taking him so long to get the briefcase

off? Like it's on the hook. It's not
that hard. Just do it.

And then I'm up on top of the ladder
trying to unhook the briefcase. And like

the chain, I literally feel it like

is huge. You start to look at the

So after the Money in the Bank ladder
match is where the fun actually really

Ran down the ramp to cash in his money
in the bank on Bobby Lashley. It's one

my favorite moments in wrestling.

Will we have a new champion?

We do!

That's the Rollins at WrestleMania is a
particularly huge one, I think.

I don't think I've

ever ran so fast in my life.

This is brilliant!

When I was in the clink, this was one of
our favorite moments.

Rollins with the heist of the century!

You could not write a better moment.

I am the most cashed in on female
superstar in the history of WWE.

I was cashed in by Carmella.

Carmella is champion!

Then I was cashed in on by Bayley.

We got a new champion.

I didn't want to waste any time. I was
so excited.

And I think Charlotte's had the title
enough times, you know, it's the time to

share. Then I was cashed in by Nikki A
.S .H.

Two, three, we have a new champion.

It doesn't feel real. It was almost like
it was someone else's dream.

So I don't like the briefcase.

I understand your disdain for the
briefcase, Charlotte, but you've got to

understand, for us fans, we love it. The
surprise, the mayhem, the tension.

It all adds up to a spectacular event
whose roots date back to WrestleMania

when Edge emerged victorious in the very
first Money in the Bank ladder match.

Now, get this. For 280 days,
anticipation loomed over every title

until the moment The rated R superstar
introduced the world to the ultimate

opportunity.

In 2006, John Cena faced a daunting
challenge, defending his WWE

inside the Elimination Chamber.

The odds do not favor the champion John
Cena in the Elimination Chamber.

A very unforgiving but brutally honest
instruction.

John Cena!

With everything he's got. And we did our
best to make it memorable.

I remember that when the match was over,
Cena was, he was exhausted. And he was

barely standing. I think he was actually
down on the ground.

He got him! He got him! He got him!

Here is your winner, John Cena!

Nobody goes anywhere!

You know, I'll never forget that
reaction when Vince came out. This night

over. Raise the cage.

John Cena's laying in the ring. He's
bruised. He's beaten.

He's gone through hell.

And then... I felt the audience

come to this realization. This is a new
thing that's never been done before.

when John Cena is at his weakest.

So I was fully engrossed in the moment.

You're not just going to come out after
someone's just been brutalized. That's

whatever is presented in front of him,
and that just fit into Edge's character

so well.

Edge cashed in and the ultimate
opportunist was born that night. He made

history. Well, I'll tell you what he's
done. He's stolen the damn titles.

That was one that ended up being a bit
of a tent pole for what Money in the

meant and what it was going forward.

Edge has shocked the world.

The very first time the Money in the
Bank briefcase was used, such a

going forward for that Money in the Bank
briefcase. It made it so...

Unpredictable. Anytime, anyplace,
anywhere, anything can happen.

It's all the unexpected twists and turns
that make money in the bank matches

must -see entertainment.

Not to mention, it holds the keys to the
championship kingdom.

So, it's little surprise that with that
kind of clout, the match was spun off

from WrestleMania as its own premium
live event in 2010.

One which debuted...

to explosive results.

Now again, everybody, a huge crowd out
here to witness history in the first

Money in the Bank pay -per -view.

So the very first Money in the Bank pay
-per -view was 2010.

Now, there had been Money in the Bank
matches before that, but this was the

first named pay -per -view Money in the
Bank.

And the winner of the Money in the Bank
that night was none other than the Big

Red Machine King.

Kane sends McIntyre to the mat below.

Kane has earned the contract for a
championship match any time up to one

Most people, they want to say, let me
figure out when's the best time to cash

in. For Kane, why wait?

Kane just won the Money in the Bank
about an hour ago.

You know that Kane knew exactly what he
was doing.

I love it. Ray Mysterio is vulnerable.

We've got a classic David and Goliath
set up here.

And now Kane going to cash it in on a
weak Ray Mysterio.

This is a World Heavyweight Championship
match.

If you look at Kane and Ray Mysterio,
that's not a fair cash -in after

somebody's already had a match.

But rules are rules. That's how the
money in the bank works.

Ray Mysterio just finishing what may
have been the match of his career on an

injured ankle.

And Tango is right for that injured
ankle.

Ray, he's more cut out for him,
especially against someone like Kane.

Oh, my. Kane,

he should win. I mean, look at the
difference of the size of those two men.

But for him to do it after Mysterio has
a match and he's been rested in the back

for an hour, it was one of the better
ways to do the money in the bank

Kane wins the match, obviously. I think
we all predicted that.

The shock value of Kane hashing in later
on that night, that made the moment in

itself. What did we just witness?

This was the moment that everyone
realized you don't have to wait a year

in. caused seizing the opportunity, and
that's what Kane did.

I've always thought of Kane as a history
maker, so of course he's going to be

the first one to cash in and win in the
same night.

Preying on the weekend for WWE gold?

Smart? Maybe.

Honorable? Perhaps not.

It takes a real ruthless individual to
seize these opportunities.

Which leads us to The Miz.

In a bid to claim the WWE Championship
in 2010, The Miz exploited and exhausted

and beaten down Randy Orton in a move
many in the WWE Universe.

Notably, one little girl deemed not so
awesome.

Miz cashing in his Money in the Bank
contract.

What? Miz! Miz!

He did it! He did it! Miz is champion!

The Money in the Bank briefcase can be
the story of an underdog superstar

winning the championship.

It can also be the story of a superstar
who you never wanted to win the

championship. The Miz seems ready to go
here tonight.

Oh! The Miz climbed to the ladder!

You will never hear the end of this.

When I won the Money in the Bank
contract, no one had as much heat.

No one.

There's just something about The Miz
that people hate.

He's the kind of guy that you just want
to strangle because he gets on your

nerves. He's cocky. He's arrogant.

Am I bragging too much?

He runs away from a fight.

There is nothing more annoying than
somebody that thinks they're better than

everybody else when we can see they're
not.

It's like you love to hate him. You love
to hate him. Because I'm The Miz and

I'm awesome!

Nobody liked me.

The crowd hated me.

Winning the Money in the Bank contract,
it's like 100 % certainty that you were

going to become the WWE champion.

Get it straight!

But all the fans were saying I was going
to be the first person to win the money

in the bank and lose the cash in.

But guess what?

That did not happen.

Here we go, ladies and gentlemen.

When I watched Randy Orton go up against
Wade Barrett, his leg was injured.

Randy trying to fight back into this
thing.

Randy got through a whole mat and...
Awesome!

Look at this! Look at this!

Miz is casting it in on a vulnerable
Orton! The whole crowd was just so, so,

angry. All the people are standing here
in Orlando.

I can't believe this.

It was just like, I'm going to get that
leg. I'm going to get that leg.

Miz going right after the infirmary.

Oh, no!

Miz assaulted Orton.

He went for his RKO.

RKO attack. And I hit him with a skull
crushing finale.

Miz, Miz, skull crushing finale.

He did it, he did it. And I became your
WWE champion.

Miz is champion.

And then that little girl's reaction.

The Miz is the new champion.

Can I Google angry Miz girl? I gotta see
this.

I feel like to this day, she's still
holding that face.

This girl's just in her life.

I can't even recreate that look. The
anger in her face was so genuine and so

real. That face, that little girl's
face, it was exactly what

my championship reign needed.

So sweet.

It was the poster child of what it will
be and how it will make you feel.

That's awesome.

A moment immortalized by an
unforgettable fan reaction.

The Miz became a true A -lister that
night, and whether you think he is

or he's awful, like Miz Girls certainly
does, you have to respect he defied

insurmountable odds in making it to the
top of WWE.

Following the cash -in formula
successfully used by Edge, Kane, and

goddess Alexa Bliss would take the
guaranteed opportunity to a whole other

level, proving that patience isn't, in
fact, a virtue.

outside the ring for much of this match.

Let everyone else beat each other up and
then come in at the end and capitalize

on it.

Yeah, that's a great strategy.

Work smarter, not harder.

Oh, Alexa sending Lynch into another
ladder.

I actually tried attempting to grab the
briefcase, and I was too short, so I had

to keep walking up the ladder.

Unhooked it!

Alexa Bliss is missed!

Money in the bank!

Whether it's Nia Jax or Ronda Rousey,
they both better take notice, because

Alexa Bliss could cash in at any time.

What is your plan? What's next for Alexa

I have some unfinished business to take
care of, so I kind of have a little idea

of my own.

The championship match was Nia Jax
versus Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey with

incredible opportunity tonight.

Of course it looked like Ronda Rousey

Alexa Bliss!

Alexa hit Ronda Rousey, smashed her with
the briefcase, and basically stole

Ronda Rousey's moment.

She cashed it in!

And Alexa Bliss crafted this perfect

If you asked Alexa, that was probably
one of her best moves she ever did.

You gotta be sly, calculating, and
somewhat conniving to maximize the

And though it's true.

That winning Money in the Bank usually
results in a championship reign. Even

some of WWE's shrewdest competitors have
learned the hard way. Every now and

then, the best laid plans and title
dreams can be shattered in the blink of

eye.

So a lot of people think that when you
win the Money in the Bank briefcase,

a guaranteed ticket.

But sometimes, it's not so guaranteed.

Seeing someone try to cash in and fail,
it's gut wrenching. It just takes one

slight variation of a plan going wrong
and everything can change.

That must be like really embarrassing,
right?

It didn't work out well for me. We all
know that.

Failed to cash in because of John Cena.

He distracted me and Jinder rolled me up
and I lost the briefcase.

I still hate John Cena because of that.

For me, every time there was a cash -in
attempt, it was always stopped, Brock

Lesnar.

Tyson Fury.

So what did I do? Why not beat Seth
freaking Rollins and then be the new

States champion?

Once again, somebody has a problem with
me, and then there's Bobby Lashley, and

he ruins the whole thing.

Lashley's like a man possessed!

The next thing I know, I get stumped, I
lose the briefcase, and everybody tells

me it's all over.

The list is growing a little bit. Now
there's a few of us, you know, but that

adds some mystery to it. It's not a
guarantee anymore.

Braun Strowman had tried it and dealt
with Brock Lesnar.

Hit it in the face!

That didn't work out for him.

Roman in no condition to continue.

I've witnessed a couple failed cash
-ins. I did commentary for them.

Guys, he's cashing in. He's cashing in.

2013, Damien Sandow has held that
briefcase for a very long time, and he

to cash in against John Cena.

We could have a new world heavyweight
champion. I don't know if John Cena's

guy I want to cash in on.

If anybody can show you that they can
defy the odds, it's John Cena.

Not everybody is going to have a

It's kind of deflating in a way.

Now, a fun day at the office? Well, that
would have to be the 2020 Money in the

Bank, which took place at WWE's very own
HQ, Titan Tower.

In a time when some of us were working
remote, these superstars came into work

in a wild attempt to climb the corporate
ladder.

So in 2020, the Money in the Bank ladder
match was actually held at WWE

headquarters. The matches were held
basically at the same time, the men's

the women's. The most unique Money in
the Bank ladder match in the history of

WWE. Six men, six women. The briefcases
that hold the contract will be

on the roof.

It was like...

A video game. You started on the ground
floor and you had to work your way up

level by level by level to get to a ring
on the top.

Sitting at home watching it was wild.

They were fighting all through the
building.

A food fight in the cafeteria.

When would that ever happen in a Money
in the Bank match?

You know, you have Otis who is
definitely a fan favorite still to this

I will never forget watching Asuka jump
off a balcony onto the girls below.

How wild is this? You know, a place
where, you know, it's real corporate and

people sit at desk and type on their
computers.

But here we go. People are getting
slammed.

I'm thrown into the walls.

There's posters getting, you know,
crapped onto people.

I was like, dang, man, somebody's
paycheck must not have went through.

They tell them headquarters like
somebody didn't get paid.

They

ended

up in Vince's office.

Now, somehow, we've ended up on the
roof.

And that gets really dangerous.

It was pure madness from beginning to
end in that.

I believe Asuka hit me with a backhand
on the ladder that rattled my brain.

And I think she also kicked me and I
fell off the ladder.

Who's your winner of that Women's Money
in the Bank Ladder Match?

I also become the winner of Money in the
Bank.

Didn't someone get thrown off the roof?

I thought that would be the last we ever
saw of Ray Mysterio. Somehow he landed

on his feet. He's like a cat.

AJ's one of my favorites of all time.
Put old Butterfingers there, dropped the

briefcase, and it landed in Otis' big
bear paws.

That guy Otis, the epitome of right
place, right time.

Yeah!

Stop!

I did it!

It was just a really fun match.

Matches can be good, but not all matches
are fun.

Asuka got her well -earned victory.

And Otis was being typical Otis. It was
so unpredictable and so entertaining.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

You know it.

Certainly one of the most unique Money
in the Bank matches in history.

And Lord knows we all needed some laughs
during that time. So thank you to our

superstar friends for providing plenty
that night.

Now, while 2020's match was full of fun
shenanigans, 2019's Money in the Bank

was all about shock and awe, which would
reverberate throughout the entire WWE

universe. Now, here comes the pain.

The following contest is the men's Money
in the Bank ladder match.

Who will win Mr.

Money in the Bank? We'll find out right
now.

When you have all the competitors out
there, you're just trying to, as a

trying to figure out who has the best
chances.

2019, Money in the Bank's going on. It's
a little different, though, because

there's only seven competitors.

Sami Zayn was supposed to be in this
match tonight. Somebody beat him up in

back, sent him to a hospital. When Sami
Zayn went down, you start thinking, do

we add somebody?

Then you don't know.

So four members of SmackDown, three from
Monday Night Raw, will battle to become

Mr. Money in the Bank.

The match itself is so crazy, so
chaotic.

Every superstar in this

matchup, their bodies are wracked with
pain right now. This is your will.

Bodies are everywhere.

Wait a second.

Probably one of the most ridiculous
money in the banks that we've had thus

And this could indeed be

Ali's moment.

Ali climbs up. Everybody was kind of
hoping that this was his moment. I

vividly at this point, we are in the
locker room losing our minds because we

believe that Ali is going to get this
money in the bank and he's finally going

to get his chance.

Ali has been through hell and his
fingers hit the length of heaven.

Almost there.

And then all of a sudden you hear that
disgusting noise and Brock Lesnar comes

out.

What the hell?

What is Lesnar doing here?

What is going on?

No! Dumped Ali!

Poor Ali.

He had the match won, man.

Lesnar's setting up the ladder.

He's not in his match. Why is he here?

How the hell is Lesnar in the match?

Brock is the ace man in the match.

He destroys Ali's dreams. He destroys
the crowd's dreams. He destroys us in

back's dreams.

Brock Lesnar has won Money in the Bank.

And he becomes Mr. Money in the Bank
because he really needed it.

Every single person in this arena is in
shock.

Brock Lesnar kind of does whatever he
wants when he wants. Are you going to

him that he can't do that? Are you going
to go try to take the briefcase from

him? I think when you're at a certain
status in WWE, when you're at the level

Brock Lesnar, then you can really get
away with anything.

It's real.

It's staring you dead in the face.

We've got a beast in the bank.

He's the kind of guy who can walk in and
just get a title shot. But he took it

from Ali, and I'll never forgive him for
that. And I don't like Brock Lesnar,

okay?

So how do you really feel, Xavier?

Sheesh. As if Brock needed another
moniker, the Beast Incarnate added Mr.

in the Bank to his long list of names.

and the celebration of his shocking
victory became an all -time memorable

By now, you've noticed that superstars
love to play spoilers on their

aspirations, often leading to memorable
Money in the Bank moments. And this next

one is no exception.

Money in the Bank!

The Celtic warrior has a guaranteed
World Heavyweight Championship

any time he wants to cash it in.

The Money in the Bank briefcase is a
maker of dreams, but it's a destroyer of

dreams as well.

Sheamus is fantastic at ruining moments.

He is grumpy.

Why do that?

Look stupid!

Physical, angry.

Irishman. And he's like me in a sense of
ruining moments. We enjoy that. We

enjoy taking the crowd and making them
go from I'm so happy and excited to I

cannot believe that just happened.

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose in the
finals. One of these two men will be the

World Heavyweight Champion.

Roman Reigns becoming WWE Champion for
the first time was a moment that we were

all anticipating eagerly.

For the championship!

Touch the line!

Roman Reigns has done it! Roman Reigns
is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion!

With all the momentum that Roman had
built up to that moment at Survivor

you would have asked anyone in the WWE
Universe. People would have thought that

was going to be a flag -planting moment
for Roman Reigns. Biggest moment in this

young man's life.

Yeah, look at the emotion pouring out of
Roman Reigns. He finally did it.

Right after he wins the title, Triple H
gets involved, which, by the way, in the

wrong hands, this briefcase becomes a
piece of corporate espionage.

It makes for just such a cool vision

Historians know that the Roman Empire

Good for Sheamus to monetize one of the
best cash -ins in WWE history.

Because Seamus 515 said, I just kicked
your ass!

When I'm looking through my t -shirt
collection, I kind of wish I had it.

515 is one of those that I'd like to
whip out of the live event right now,

to impress people.

I have just one question.

Who looks stupid now?

Man!

Sheamus made that cash -in look easy and
against Roman Reigns nonetheless.

But not all cash -in attempts go so
smoothly.

Take Dolph Ziggler.

After winning the Money in the Bank
briefcase in 2012, it took him several

before he was finally able to show off
on a night known for the biggest and

wild moments of the year, the Raw after
WrestleMania.

One of the most exciting, if not the
most exciting, cash -ins for Money in

Bank was Dolph Ziggler. Dolph Ziggler
has in his hands a contract guaranteeing

him a World Heavyweight Championship
opportunity.

Every single Money in the Bank contract
has been cashed in successfully.

What that means is you're looking at the
next World Heavyweight Champion.

You see him come out, and then the cash
-in gets stopped, and you're like, oh,

man.

We're about to have a little bit of
champion.

Knockout punch.

Ziggler's heading down the ring.

Orton. RKO.

The referee actually has to ring the
bell to start the match in order for the

contract to be cashed in.

It only creates anticipation.

It makes the fans wonder, is he going to
cash in?

Rodriguez has stolen the contract.

Dolph's cash -in attempt never came to
fruition tonight.

The Raw after WrestleMania in New
Jersey. Dolph Ziggler was getting chants

throughout the night.

Jack Swagger, Alberto Del Rio battling
for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Oh, man, what a throw.

Back to the Patriot Lock. Look at Del
Rio cross arm breaker. Cross arm

There's the doctor into the ring to
check on the ankle of Alberto Del Rio.

Wait a minute! Yes!

Finally! He's waited his time!

He's cherry -picked his moment!

Ladies and gentlemen, Dolph Ziggler is
cashing in his Money in the Bank

for the World Heavyweight Championship!

Move the heavens. They're there. They're
like, one, two.

Nobody's sitting down. Everybody's going
nuts.

just wanted to see him take that next

I never heard an ovation like that. It
was insane.

And he's casted in to become the new

As someone who's been to nearly 10 Super
Bowls, one of the most amazing crowd

This moment had such a climax that the

place went nuts.

Arguably the greatest cash -in of all
time.

Ziggler etched his name into history as
a newly minted world heavyweight

champion and the latest money in the
bank holder to capitalize on their

opportunity. But what made the night
truly special was the deafening cheers

crowd who had long awaited and willed
Ziggler to his first title reign. That's

what it's all about. You really can't
underestimate the power of the thing.

perhaps. There was no more apparent
example than when ECW original Rob Van

Dam attempted to dethrone the number one
guy in WWE, John Cena, in front of a

very faithful and fiery ECW crowd.

Rob Van Dam is a spectacular,
breathtaking, world -class athlete.

To ECW fans, he was our Hulk Hogan.

He was our rich player.

And the spirit of ECW lived inside of
Rob Van Dam, especially in 2006.

He carried it with him.

He got it!

Van Dam! I knew it!

RBD! Mr.

Money in the Bank!

But RBD did not do the surprise cashing.
I'd like to see this take place

somewhere where I'm a lot more
comfortable.

where the conditions work extremely well
in my favor.

He challenged John Cena. We're doing
this one -on -one. I'm cashing in at one

night stand.

Here at the Harrison Ballroom in New
York City, John Cena must defend the

WWE title. Championship in an ECW ring
against Rob Van Dam, Mr. Money in the

Bank, who's casting it in tonight.

ECW were anti -establishment, anti
-everything.

RBD was their guy. I mean, he was Mr.

ECW.

There he is, Mr.

Money in the Bank.

No one deserves it more. He pleads ECW.

This will be a hostile environment for
John Cena.

John Cena and everything that he
represented, which was WWE and corporate

the biggest company in the world.

He was public enemy number one.

I knew that. audience would be abrasive.

And they were all 100 % for me.

Everybody remembers the sign that says
if Cena wins, we riot.

If John Cena wins this matchup, there
could be a riot here at One Night Stand

Test. Yeah, there could be.

I think my favorite part of that match
was Cena taking off his shirt and

throwing it out and the fans throwing it
back.

Takes it off, throws it, they throw it
right back.

And he did that like three or four
times.

So he opted not to have an incredible
wrestling souvenir so they could make

look foolish on TV, and I respect that.

Finally, a guy like wipes himself with
it, throws it back, and the crowd just

goes nuts.

The whole scene was just crazy.

The wave of hatred.

There was a pulse to it. The audience
was chanting, I

mean,

that room was cold -blooded.

And

to

John Cena's credit, he embraced that
fully.

And he reveled in it.

Hostile situation.

Cena's picking up his game. I hate to
admit it.

Where RVD is, you know, in ECW, this is
their arena.

And the ECW fans now rallying behind the
challenger.

He was doing it in front of the people
that meant the most to him. And those

were the ECW faithful.

That match was so good. So good. John
Cena is such a good wrestler.

John Cena has taken out this hostile
audience.

What the hell is that?

It's Edge!

Edge!

That was fun.

I've been in front of an ECW audience
now, and now I get it. Now I know what

of that folklore was all about.

No longer an Edge fan after our history,
but RVD was the guy. So thank you,

Edge.

Van Dam up top.

We need a riff out of God.

But let's not forget, here comes Paul
Heyman.

Oh, my God. I can't believe this.

You know, the fans really blew the roof
off the joint when RVD won. And I

thought it was a great, great WWE
moment.

Kurt Angle, one of the first to embrace
Van Dam.

I was glad that it was an actual match.

Because that made it completely
different than mine.

ACW One Night Stand 2006 is my crowning
moment.

No other night can compare to that.

Rob Van Dam in the new champion of the
world.

What

an

electric atmosphere and a moment that
has certainly stood the test of time.
