it the day that it went on.

We made an offer that day.

-It was a super upgrade
from where we were.

And now, after being here
for a while, we're finding some

of the pieces that
aren't really fitting

the way we thought they would.

It's just kind
of fragmented, right?

Like, we want all these spaces
to work together.

We want to put our design stamp
in this space.

Yeah, we've been in the home
since June 2020,

so we're right about five years.
You look confused.

I forget, 'cause we were
married in '19.

Valley Village, it's great.

It's very convenient,
and it's very safe,

and it's very family-oriented,

And so we found this house.
It was in the middle of COVID.

this was a great prison to be.

with a house.

And so I might be a little
more flexible

in some of the options.

Anything that doesn't have
a place just kind of lives

in the nook zone,
and that's largely because

that's how the nook
existed in the past.

And so there's some space like
that that has never been

fully reimagined, and Joel
hasn't been entirely willing

to reimagine the space with me.

This is actually an ideal
location for, like,

a little eat-in kitchen table.

about is, how can we open up
to the backyard more?

a theme that we really seek.

other properties, but I would

definitely want to put
a design together on this one.

can you spend on a renovation?

If you're moving, how much can
you spend on a house?

We want to spend in
the ballpark of $150,000

on a renovation.

If we're moving, we're looking
to spend about $1.5 million.

about money my whole life.

I grew up in public housing
in the Bronx, and it was all

very little green space.

Living there, I did not know
any different.

I didn't know how poor I was.

When I went to middle school,

I went to other people's houses,

single-story houses,
and I was like,

"Oh, I wanna live there."

This is a mansion to me
and that kind of money is --

is -- I don't --
it doesn't compute.

As a journeyman actor,
you never know where your next

paycheck is gonna be.

So when you get money,
you can't really spend it.

What is the end goal?

-To be happy.

-What will make you happy?
-A nice house.

a nice house?

you might actually just fall
in love with another house,

to see any kind of wow.

And it wasn't really
a good wow.

It's so hard when a client
says they only wanna be

in a small, like 10-by-10 block
radius of the city.

And this is an area where it is
hard to find a place that fits

all their criteria.

I think I'm clearly
articulating my vision,

but I don't know if
they're quite picking it up.

Which I don't think
Joel's picking it up at all.

He needs to see it
to understand it.

at playing with yours
a little bit.

Let's get a little contrast
in the kitchen just to make

something pop.

For the kitchen,
we'll keep things
contemporary

with light
wood tones
and clean lines.

For contrast, we'll bring
in dark stool seating

for the island, along with bold
light fixtures and faucet

finishes to get that pop.

Removing the fireplace
and soffit is going

to give new life to this room.

Creating a wide open space that
easily fits a large L-shaped

sectional with accents that
blend CC's contemporary style

and Joel's love
of cozy comfort.
