When I got the call that I booked High
School Musical, it was the most exciting

thing ever. This summer at camp, I went
on for the lead when she got low -grid

salmonella, so I'm ready. I was
obviously ecstatic. I'm auditioning for

thing tomorrow, and nothing is going to
stop me. I just started busting out

crying. Did I not tell you she's
amazing?

She is amazing. You're amazing.

Literally, I was lost for words. I'm
bummed that we don't have any

here. I never imagined that I would hit
the jackpot. I'm dying.

I'm deceased.

High School Musical was such a big part
of me growing up. When I was eight years

old, the theater company was doing a
production of High School Musical. So I

like, let's go. I'm going to do it.
Bolton, you have a callback. I was in

a teen and a half. I remember having all
the Tori and Gabriella Barbies. Wow.

That's nice.

I actually won tickets to go to the High
School Musical 3 premiere, and I got to

meet all the current Disney stars. It
was literally one of the best nights.

It's kind of surreal to think that that
was me then, and look where I am now.

High School Musical movies were
absolutely iconic.

I'm Zac Efron. Look who it is.

The lovely Vanessa Hudgens. And action.

They only had a month to make it. And
they recorded the album in five days.

Then that little movie destroyed the
status quo.

High School Musical has been seen by
more than 116...

Nothing's hotter than a high school
musical.

The sensation of Disney's high school
musical.

The soundtrack is currently number one
on the Billboard chart. You guys have

literally stopped traffic here.

Stadiums filled with 93 ,000 people.

At one point, it literally felt like we
were the Beatles.

The crowd just stormed our vehicles,
faces pressed up against the windows.

Congratulations, number one movie in the
world.

That's amazing.

It's definitely going to be really
exciting to see a whole new show that

references to something as big as High
School Musical.

And here we are.

The start of something new.

The musical, the musical, the series is
being shot at East High in Salt Lake

City, Utah, which is the original high
school that they shot the movies at.

is where it all happened. This is where,
like, the legendary high school musical

movies were shot. I can't believe we're
going to be spending our day shooting

here. This is so exciting.

Wildcats! And they get a new drama
teacher, Miss Jen.

Go Wildcats!

Miss Jen is not your average drama
teacher.

She's basically like, you guys go to
East High and you've never done a

production of High School Musical.

I was triggered as a millennial. And
they decide to put on a production of

School Musical The Musical as their
school play.

So it kind of follows their last... and
all of the drama that ensues with the

drama kids. I've never been an
understudy.

You'll have to tell me all about it.
From auditions all the way to the final

curtain. He's going to get cast as who?

I want to audition for Gabriela.

Ryan, right? I think he'd rather play
Sherpae.

That is so fresh.

And it's about the romances and
rivalries. I love you. And drama.

We have our Gabriela and our Troy.

Buckle up, Wildcats.

It's very meta. We make a lot of
references to the original movies.

This is my nightmare.

It's a whole different thing, but still
kind of paying tribute to the original

thing. Still keeps the high school
musical feel, but in a totally new way.

Some kind of joke?

Maybe we're being punked.

Maybe we're being filmed right now. Oh,
shut up, Ryan!

Very first day filming this show, I get
to film in the cafeteria, which is one

of the most iconic areas from the
original movies.

So I showed up, saw the cafeteria, had
some tears roll down my face. I'm

kidding. Wow. Our first scene was
awesome. We play best friends, but we've

known each other for about a month now.

Not even. Like two weeks, barely.

We hate musicals. I just think it's
weird when people, like, burst into song

the middle of the street.

Dude, that's a musical. The first day
that we all filmed at East High.

I could not sleep.

I was like, this isn't happening. I'm
going to wake up tomorrow and I'm going

be like, no, this is all a dream.

Gina, sophomore.

And we're back.

Time to sing.

So the studio session for recording
those songs was crazy because it was my

first, like, legitimate session in the
studio.

All right, here we go. Two measures in.
I can't stop dreaming and thinking maybe

I could be. We recorded this song today.

You really have to bring your energy,
bring all of the emotion to the song

you're going to have on the day of
shooting.

Today we're filming a scene from episode
three. Thanksgiving episode. This

episode is going to be a goodie. My
favorite thing about the show is the

connections between the characters.

We have a lot more time to explore so
people can really get to know the

characters. We're back in after lunch.
Let's go.

The dancers are incredible. The view
here is awesome. You are awesome.

This is East High's homecoming dance.

It's like the nicest homecoming I've
ever seen.

It's crazy getting to film our own dance
numbers in such an iconic space. Being

able to do everything I love at once
with the title of High School Musical.

I'm crying. I don't know why I'm crying.

It's just like the best.

There will be a whole new generation of
Wildcats that will come out of this

show.

all of the original High School

Musicals.

I'm back.

I'm coming back to the High School
Musical, the musical TV show, to do a

I'm not playing Ryan this time. I'm
playing myself.

All the roles will be played by the
drama students of East High.

Well done.

High School Musical is so important to
me in my life. It's something I'm so

grateful for, and I'm so happy to relive
some of those memories, go back to the

school, see some of the new faces that
are going to bring a new audience into

the next generation of High School
Musical.

Be true to your school, right?

It was amazing getting to meet Uzges and
work with him. These kids are

incredible. They're just so eager.
They're so excited. They so want to

this torch into a new generation.

We were asking him all these questions,
you know, about the originals and, you

know, what it was like shooting and what
the inside scooped to a lot of things,

and it was cool to kind of have him
there.

It's kind of a nice bridge between the
original movies and the new series.

Yeah, well, I'll take that as a
compliment.

When I was trying to give them words of
wisdom, it was just to enjoy the moment.

Obviously, we had no idea that High
School Musical was going to become what

became. You just never know what
tomorrow will bring. And so today is

need to focus and to cherish the moments
that are right in front of you.

When Lucas showed up to set, I like
internally screamed. I would have

goes into making a movie. Look at all

Taping myself has always been a small
passion of mine.

It's a part of my life.

taping myself, but it's okay because I'm

doing it for you guys.

Playing the role of Nini was super fun
because I got to sing, dance, act.

one of my favorite things about filming
this project is getting to combine all

of my love into one project.

because I had already known this song,
but she barely knew it. She was perfect

Josh is an amazing musician, an amazing
songwriter, an amazing singer. He is

constantly playing music all the time
during rehearsal, during breaks, and

in the makeup trailer.

It's a lot. Like, every time we walk
into a place and there's a piano, we're

like, all right, Josh, go ahead. This is
in your element.

Yes, it was in tune.

We already write music on our own, and
once the producers kind of got word of

that, they told us that we might have an
opportunity to write together for the

show, which is...

Today I get to deliver the very amazing

news that their song was chosen. You
guys have your song chosen, and it's

giant hand.

Congratulations.

It was one of the most surreal moments
that I've had as an artist and really in

my life. Having this opportunity where
you're writing something and you know

that there are going to be people who
are listening to it, it made me feel

a real songwriter. Yeah, I'm an official
songwriter, like officially.

excited for people to hear the new music
we're doing kind of half and half with

the music half original music half like
recreated i love the classic songs from

the original movies but i have been so
obsessed with the new songs from our

series i relate to the song a lot i just
feel like it's really

empowerment and plus it doesn't hurt
that it gets you moving

People that I've shown, they've just
been obsessed with this, and they're

playlist when it comes out.

I definitely have a special place in my

It's a really special one, and I think
that people are really going to love it.

High School Musical was going to be High
School Musical, the musical, the

series. I know the fans have been, like,
asking for something for years.

I saw the pilot. I loved it. I've been
raving about it, and I'm so excited for

you all. It was fantastic. I was
laughing my head off. The performances

strong. The direction was beautiful.

It was so fresh.

There is an electricity, there is a
chemistry, there's an enthusiasm, and

there's a talent that lives in each and
every one of the people that are in this

production. And all I can say is that I
think that fans of High School Musical

and fans that weren't even High School
Musical fans are going to find something

really bright, really special, really
entertaining about this new project.

So the cast reveal is coming up, and
it's terrifying.

Cast reveals, and they're going to
reveal all of our characters.

and all of our character names and
people that play them.

I mean, we're about to walk on stage in
front of thousands of people and say,

we're the new cast of Heist the Musical.

I might need like three shirts to cover
the sweat. I'd be lying if I didn't say

I was a little bit nervous.

We'll be putting on a live performance
of We're Almost Together.

It's kind of a celebration of all of the
hard work that we've done. This is when

we give this project to the world. I
can't believe we're about to perform for

thousands of people.

You said thousands.

This crowd of thousands is just the
beginning, and the world is about to see

this show and see what we've done. I
can't believe everything we've done,

everything we've made this whole year is
about to be revealed.

It is my great pleasure to introduce to
you for the first time the cast of High

School Musical, the musical, the series.

to continue because I think that the
world is going to fall in love with

new characters.

This is not the end.

It's actually the start of something
new.

Well, I just think it's going to be so
much fun and I can't wait for everyone

see it and love it just as much as I
did.

Every ending, there's a new beginning.
I'm really excited for all of the things

that the series is going to do.
