Not once the police spring the trap,

set the watch on the two bridges:

the Golden Gate...

Spread the net to the Ferry Building,

the railroad depot,

the airport,

and the roads which lead south,

slamming every door
so there is no escape.

Nobody would have guessed it,

but the seeds of this killing
were being sown overnight

at one of those North Beach
Barbary Coast night spots

by a cast of completely unrelated characters.

There was a girl and two men.

Happy enough right now,

but their laughter wasn't to last.

His laughter could be heard
for two blocks.
