-[Jonathan] Ding dong. -[Sammy] Hi.
-What's going on? -[Amos] Hello, hello.
I love a clean site.
So, let's go over the plans for the kitchen.
Mary does not want pocket doors,
so those should all go.
I think by widening this,
you'll get a little more light flow,
have a beautiful, big peninsula.
We've opened up to the laundry,
and then have a nice, big fridge, storage, everything.
This is gonna be brilliant.
Well, speaking of laundry, the original plan,
we had the washer and dryer on the left-hand side.
-[Jonathan] Yes. -But right now, we have the plumbing stack
and the vent pipe on the right-hand side.
Do you think it works if we just mirror it?
Cancel the whole project.
[chuckling]
How much would it cost to move the plumbing over?
-Maybe like $1,000. -1,000 bucks?
How much would it cost if we left the laundry here
but actually did a cabinet in front of it?
-A couple grand? -Maybe.
The only thing I don't love is that then makes the laundry
even more noticeable from the main area.
Mary's talking about shooting her shows,
and at some point, I feel like she's gonna be entertaining. -Aesthetics.
And she's gonna be like,
"Oh, I wish my guests couldn't see my laundry machine."
Now I keep catching myself and saying, "Wait, wait, wait,
"Mary wants to shoot a show in her kitchen,
"so she's gonna have to have power here,
appliances here, hide this."
I mean, all of these things, it's an extra layer of detail
that has to go into this design, over and above someone
who's just having a regular kitchen.
It adds up in small increments
to the point where it's a big deal.
[upbeat music plays]

-Jon, how are you? -[Jon] I'm good, thanks.
-How are you? -[Jonathan] Good.
I happen to have Mary, a client right now,
who is...obsessed with Nancy Meyers aesthetic,
and of course, you're who brings that to life in all those films.
So, yeah, I was hoping to get
some inspiration for that Nancy Meyers aesthetic.
Well, I'll tell you, one of the things that -- that I think
makes Nancy's movies unique
is that there's an eclectic mix of styles.
One of the things we tend to do,
and somebody asked me about this,
they said, "Oh, how come you've got, like,
brass fixtures and bronze hardware?"
Sometimes I like to mix it up.
The oil-rubbed bronze
and the brass are sometimes nice together.
We have some dark accents in there.
You know what I mean?
So it's not all white walls, light blue,
whether it's a piece of furniture or a chandelier,
some kind of dark shape for contrast.
And in "Something's Gotta Give,"
we had these little corbel brackets,
which looked like they're supporting
the upper cabinets.
Those are my trade secrets.
[Jonathan] I love that idea with the mixed metals.
I think that would be really easy to integrate
and some darker elements, too.
If we can get some black in there,
I think that would be great. Thank you so much.
I'll text you if there's anything else,
but I think this is amazing. -[Jon] All right.
So here's the plan to achieve the Nancy Meyers aesthetic.
We're gonna create a movie set look for Mary's food videos
by accenting the breakfast bar with soft lighting,
carefully curating decor pieces, corbels under the cabinetry,
and mixed metal hardware.
We'll go with a palette of creams and blues and,
as Jon suggested, some dark accent pieces for a dreamy,
picture-perfect, coastal vibe.

that you can see the washer dryer?
For my cooking demos, if the camera was here,
I wonder, you know, and if I'm going to my refrigerator,
if you could see it in the background.
I'm then just thinking, you know,
maybe it's better, then, to get cabinets in front of it.
I'm trying not to use contingency funds,

knowing that there's still little things
that are gonna pop up... -Yeah.

What do you think about doing something a little more special
on the walls? -[Mary] Ohh.
-Bit of a feature wall? -Yeah, that sounds spectacular.

And it just looks fancier.
-[Mary] Yeah, it looks fancier. -Yeah.
[Mary] I like that idea a lot.
I would have never thought to do anything like that.
[Jonathan] First, pick your design.
Next, measure and mark.
Cut your molding pieces at a 45-degree angle.
Install the molding with glue, a nail gun, and caulking.
And finally, prime and paint.
Well, why don't we put some tape on the wall?
