Brandon and I work together and Chance does the choreography

Let's just say we've been doing this
for like the last six and a half years.

and she wears a size five and a half.
So they don't even fit, see?
So you kind of get accustomed to the travel,
but being in a group, there are a lot of other things
that you have to like work with as well.

I've never had to live in the house with sisters and brothers,
so being on the tour I think gives kind of that family feel.

I've always had a really strong work ethic.
That's what I saw growing up.
Like my mom was a single mom.
My grandpa was a farmer.

So at the age of 14,
I was working as a stock market assistant,
like charting the markets every day.
I worked. So I've always worked.
And now as a drag queen, honey, I go to work.

I grew up in Paris, Texas, not France.
I actually loved growing up in my small town.
I felt like a really big fish in a small pond
because, number one, I stood out, you know.
My dad's from Saudi Arabia, my mom's black from Texas.
You don't get that mix a lot in Paris, Texas.
People knew who I was, and I loved that.
I loved being like a people person.
I wasn't really out as gay,
but I don't really think I was ever in.
I was just me.
So everyone knew DJ was DJ,
because I was involved in all these different things,
like, you know, accelerated classes
and cheerleading and all that.
I was in school in what we call, forgive me, but white world.
And so you just stood out.
I was like, oh, yeah, that's the black kid that's in that class.
That's it.
So I learned how to like mix with all different groups,
and it helped me, I think, as a person, as well.
But I was everywhere. She just--
And that's, like, kind of like who I am now.
Everywhere.
