How was it for you,
as a young director,

on such a big project?

it was the experience
of a lifetime.

in impossible positions

with no one to ask for help.

When I pitched Rudolph,

the casting director told me

that Black actors
weren't commercial.

And then they,
they were proved wrong,

Rudolph's character

was essentially a slave owner,
and when I pointed it out,

they told me that the show
is not a history lesson.

Like-and instead
of allowing me to fix it,

they just denied a brilliant
Black actress the role

and hired a White influencer.

But the whole time,

I was presented with choices

when, really, they just
backed me into a corner.

And when eventually
it went wrong,

they actually fired me.

I know I'm not perfect.
