[Episode 3]

They offered to help me blow the Oh Kwang Jae case wide open.

So I almost just went ahead and blew the whole thing wide open, but...

I'm giving you one last chance.

[Kwon Se Myeong]

It looks like she's about to get into another car.

Got her.

Kwon Se Myeong.

Prosecutor Bang!

Miss,

bring me every fish they have in this place.

I'm about to keep this place running all night!

[Chu Sang Ah still in talks with the old man]

Dear Prosecutor Bang.

Yes, sir.

I still

get a real kick out of how we screwed Lee Yang Mi over.

You know I didn't grow up in the mud. I've got a soft heart.

Then I'll make sure that heart of yours stays protected.

And this...

is how I feel about our future.

Oh man, it's just amazing. I've never gotten a gift in my life.

Look at you two. What is this, the love story of the century?

Sir,

just polish him up first, then get him into the presidential campaign.

Jumping straight to a presidential campaign?

Alright,

the nomination comes first.

I'll start from the bottom and learn step by step.

We're bringing in a rising star.

No reason to say no.

Alright, let's make it happen.

I'll give it my all.

Oh, hello.

This was supposed to be Prosecutor Bang's setup.

What took you so long?

It's been a while, sir. I look forward to working with you.

Prosecutor Bang.

I knew you'd make your move sooner or later.

- Let's do good work. - Likewise, sir.

Hi, I'm here too.

You know, I didn't think that snake would tag along.

Running into someone from the same household here of all places.

You must've been in a rush over this Mayor Nam case,

showing up somewhere like this.

You really don't waste any time.

Stay out of it.

Wait...

With this lineup, I guess sitting together's off the table.

Normally, yeah...

but we can make it work today.

Right?

Right.

Right.

Still got that wild streak.

That's why I always had a soft spot for you.

Sir,

this isn't the time to get sentimental.

Park Jae Sang

is getting out soon.

You know

he has a copy of the Oh Kwang Jae file

with your name in it.

If that resurfaces,

you'll be in deep trouble too.

My dad's got plenty of sins too.

For a guy who never trusts anyone,

he got played by some hack fortune teller,

took in the wrong second wife,

and made a real mess of the family in the end.

Darn it.

Why's he talking like that? So trashy.

Hey, mutt.

Know your place.

You run wild every night

at that secluded Yangpyeong villa, getting filthy.

You think you're better than everyone else?

Cut the crap.

Director Lee,

I know you're on edge about Mayor Nam,

but let's just enjoy tonight.

Right.

Tonight is for Prosecutor Bang.

Oh, right.

I should start calling him Assemblyman Bang.

What is this vibe?

You're giving Bang Tae Seop the nomination?

You know...

I just did what needed to be done.

But if I'm offered the nomination, I'd be honored to accept.

Come on, we'd be the honored ones.

Thank you.

Alright, cheers.

Thank you.

Bang Tae Seop.

You know what celebrities and politicians have in common?

They live and die by their image.

Which means they can be torn down in public.

And that just happens to be my specialty.

You made a big mistake.

Before long, you'll be begging me for forgiveness.

Lee Yang Mi.

This is just the beginning.

Once I get my teeth into someone with as much to lose as you...

Yeah, we'll see

how far I take it.

Your little love story alone is

more than enough ammo for someone like me.

I was debating whether to tell you...

That tax scandal that blew up when Chu Sang Ah fought her old agency.

That was me.

What are you talking about?

She was getting way too cocky, hiding behind Chairman Kwon.

So I lined up a few reporters and made sure she got a taste of reality.

That's how I operate.

Got it?

Do you even know what that put Sang Ah through?

That was the point. Not my problem.

Driver Kang.

And that Oh Kwang Jae case you had lined up.

I'm kicking that project into gear.

Big budget, so... stay tuned.

Lee Yang Mi.

I don't know what game you're playing,

but I was in charge of that case.

Chu Sang Ah is clean.

You still don't know

what Chu Sang Ah really looks like.

Chu Sang Ah.

You didn't have to go that far back then.

Looks like you're here to have Park Jae Sang silenced.

But I'm past the point of losing sleep over a piece of paper like that.

You, on the other hand...

with blood on your hands,

that's a different story.

Sir...

You're coming to me for this?

You should be taking a hard look at your husband first.

What are you talking about?

How far do you trust Bang Tae Seop?

2018.

The Oh Kwang Jae murder at Seogwang Hotel.

[Choi Ji Ho's Fact Check]

I first got interested in this case because of Chu Sang Ah.

But I really started digging

after I saw a photo of Park Jae Sang,

who was arrested as the prime suspect.

[Connection, Contract killing, Confession] Alright.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Oh Kwang Jae case...

[The Oh Kwang Jae Murder Case] [Three Lives, Tightly Entangled]

[Why Was the Actress Named?]

[Chu Sang Ah hires her bodyguard, Park Jae Sang, to carry out the hit]

[Admits to killing agency CEO Oh Kwang Jae]

[What was their relationship?]

[Oh Kwang Jae & Chu Sang Ah Interview] [A radiant smile]

Who was Oh Kwang Jae,

[Korea's reigning romance queen] the man who made top star Chu Sang Ah

[Let's meet the hottest star, Sang Ah] and ended up the victim of this brutal murder?

[Who is Oh Kwang Jae?] Oh Kwang Jae was

a powerhouse in Korean cinema, known as the Midas touch of Chungmuro.

She's got that natural star quality and the grit to back it up.

I knew she'd go beyond Korea and become a global star.

He's especially known as the producer who turned Chu Sang Ah into a top star.

[The man who made her who she is today]

But just

as he was about to take a major leap through a partnership with WR Group,

he was suddenly murdered.

[The Oh Kwang Jae Murder Case]

The killer was Park Jae Sang, Chu Sang Ah's bodyguard.

A brutal, cold-blooded murder. Oh Kwang Jae was killed by Park Jae Sang.

This man right here

is Park Jae Sang, who was arrested as the suspect at the time.

I mean...

he doesn't exactly look like someone who could hurt a fly.

It got me curious.

How did someone like him end up the suspect in such a brutal murder?

[The Oh Kwang Jae Murder Case]

So who turned

this gentle guy's world upside down?

But then...

all the case files, the articles.

Every last one of them just vanished.

[Page Not Found]

[The Oh Kwang Jae Murder Case]

[No results found for "The Oh Kwang Jae Murder Case"]

Raises a pretty obvious question, doesn't it?

There's someone behind this.

So I started digging deeper.

[Did Chu Sang Ah not know? No, she was always at the center of it]

Then one day,

it hit me.

What if I go beyond the gossip...

and find something more direct?

So I

went straight to the prison.

To meet Park Jae Sang.

It's fine. I'll just come back.

Man... came all this way.

[Cheongseong Penitentiary] See you next time.

He wouldn't see me.

So I kept going back. Again and again.

And then one day, he reached out first. Said he'd meet me.

Cheongseong Penitentiary.

Look at this.

Creepy, right?

[Cheongseong Penitentiary]

Hello, Mr. Park Jae Sang.

He looked just like his photo. Real harmless.

He wouldn't say why he wanted to meet.

I figured there had to be a reason, so I waited.

Then, right before his release...

He told me something shocking.

After Han Ji Soo died,

Chu Sang Ah refused to shoot and started spiraling.

So Oh Kwang Jae put me on her security detail.

That's how we met.

I had no idea it would end up like this...

I'll tell you the rest once I'm out.

Chu Sang Ah, and Park Jae Sang...

The shocking truth behind it all.

Next time.

Next time,

we'll have Park Jae Sang here with us, in person.

We'll get into the truth behind all of this.

Bye!

I got this.

Let's go, 500 calories! Get those legs up higher!

Now let go and jump with your arms out!

- You got this! - I can't!

Good, grab on again.

Take it easy. You're pushing me too hard!

Let's call it here for today.

Park Jae Sang gets out today, so I'm on my way to pick him up.

I'll get the recording as soon as I see him.

I watched your last episode.

It felt a little slow.

The pacing is loose. It really drags.

Everyone's watching shorts these days.

If you go all artsy like a European film, we're dead in the water.

I'll push him harder this time.

Still...

must be nice having money behind you.

The quality's definitely improved.

Maybe let's call it dedication, not money.

Sure.

Then show me more of that dedication.

That's Park Jae Sang's booking fee.

By the way, is he still hung up on her?

Selling out Chu Sang Ah's recording this cheap?

He's probably

blinded by revenge

more than money.

Nice line.

See,

I may not trust you, but I trust that mouth of yours.

Thank you.

You can go now.

Choi Ji Ho's on the move. You're not in position yet?

Buy me a little more time.

- Too many eyes around. Got held up. - Darn it.

Three minutes.

Got it.

Oh my!

What do I do... I'm so sorry. Are you okay?

I-It's fine.

Wait.

This is

really expensive, isn't it?

Sorry?

I got the same brand for a friend once,

so I can tell.

I said it's fine.

Really, it's fine.

Wait...

Haven't we met somewhere before?

Well, I'm a fairly well-known figure,

so that's probably it.

I see.

Mission complete.

Hey.

You are

a well-known leech.

What did you just say?

Keep feeding off

other people's lives like that,

it'll come back around and bite you.

Who are you?

See you around,

leech.

Doors closing.

We need to grab that bastard Choi Ji Ho

before he gets his hands on the recording.

I planted a tracker on his car.

Looks like he just met Lee Yang Mi and is heading to pick up Park Jae Sang.

I'll stay on him. I'll call you.

Sir...

Your disciplinary hearing's been called in.

About time.

Sorry?

They took long enough.

I knew he was trouble,

but trying to make himself a star?

How dare he go after the Chief Prosecutor's in-laws...

My apologies, sir.

Chief Prosecutor,

if we apply a violation of the Prosecutor Ethics Code,

we can go as far as suspension.

Do it.

Suspend Bang Tae Seop effective immediately.

How's everyone doing?

Sorry I'm late to my own show.

How dare...

When I was loyal to the organization, I didn't even get a mention.

Now I slip up once,

and you all throw a party in my name.

- I'm honored. - Hey, Tae Seop.

I'm the one who dragged all of you into this room,

so if I'm getting suspended, you should be right there with me.

Director Byun, then...

Should we start with the Samgwang Hotel case?

You little...

So,

I'll have to decline your suspension.

This rotten organization?

I'm walking out

[Letter of Resignation] on my own.

Has he lost his mind?

Goodbye.

Bye.

Hey, Tae Seop.

Hey!

Bang Tae Seop!

You little punk...

Hey!

You're just going to blow this up and walk away?

Tae Seop...

The stuff I told you to hide...

that stays buried, right?

Hard to say.

I might be giving you a call down the line.

You can settle what you owe me then.

I'm off.

Darn it.

[Mayor Nam Hye Hoon Holds Emergency Press Conference]

[Mayor Nam Emergency Press Conference]

[Nam Hye Hoon Admits to Sex Bribery] [Resigns as Mayor of Seoam]

Nice.

There he is!

Are you stepping down from the prosecution?

Were you under internal pressure?

Mayor Nam just resigned. As the whistleblower, how do you feel?

What are your plans going forward?

I'm being forced out for exposing corruption within the organization,

so as of today,

I'm stepping down as a prosecutor.

But here and now,

I'd like to announce a new beginning.

I, Bang Tae Seop,

will be entering

this general election

as Changjo Party's first recruited candidate.

No matter what challenges come my way,

I will stand firm,

never bow to power,

and serve only the people.

Thank you.

One more comment, please!

Did you always plan to go into politics? Please answer.

When will you officially begin your campaign?

Please respond.

Is that true?

Over here, please!

Please answer!

First of all,

I apologize for the disruption.

I'm sorry.

It's not her fault, but still,

with the shoot getting canceled and delayed,

the losses are significant.

We really have no excuse.

But this film is

her comeback project,

so you know

how important it is to both of us.

- Maybe we can have some dinner... - I'll cover...

the additional production costs within reason.

What matters most is finishing the film properly.

As for the delays from the canceled shoot,

let's discuss compensation separately.

She is willing to go this far,

so I hope you can ease up a bit.

You can go over the details with him.

I need to take this.

Okay.

Let's step outside and talk specifics.

I'm out.

Where should we meet?

Jae Sang,

today is not a good time.

I told you this was your last chance.

Why do you keep making me out

to be the bad guy?

You're the one who pushed me here.

I didn't want this.

Chu Sang Ah.

You really

want to see how far I'll take this?

I just can't leave right now.

You said if I killed Oh Kwang Jae, you'd be with me.

That you'd leave Bang Tae Seop... Was all of that a lie?

No.

I meant it back then.

You know

I can't do that anymore.

No.

I'm not letting you go.

You wreck my life, and live with some other guy...

and I'm just supposed to sit back and watch?

Not happening.

So come to me.

Keep your promise to me.

Or I'll take this all the way.

I'll expose everything, recordings and all.

I'll show the whole country

what kind of monster you are.

And I'll blow that fake marriage to pieces...

then take you down with me.

Just watch.

I may be leaving the organization,

but if this has helped expose not just the prosecution,

but the truth of how our system really works,

then I've done my part.

Mr. Bang Tae Seop,

thank you for your candid remarks.

You've announced a new beginning today,

and we look forward to what's ahead.

Thank you.

I approached this as if I were stepping off a cliff.

And I'll keep fighting injustice,

to repay the support and trust you've shown me.

Thank you.

[246-17 Huichang-dong, Gangseo-gu]

You've been through a lot.

Thanks to you, we're off to a good start.

Mind if I take a look?

Well...

How are you planning to release this?

What do you mean?

Are you putting all of it out there?

You're still a softie.

Still hung up on Chu Sang Ah?

She was my first love.

Alright.

Think of it this way.

Even the best ingredients

depend on who's handling them.

They can turn into something great,

something forgettable...

or complete trash.

Chu Sang Ah will come back to you.

I'll handle the recording.

I know what you're worried about.

But I know what you want even better.

I'll make sure you get it.

Just trust me this once.

Here it is.

Feels like something that's been buried is finally coming back to life.

I

want to be your woman.

I'll give you everything.

So... Jae Sang.

[The real killer behind the Oh Kwang Jae case]

[is Chu Sang Ah]

Bang Tae Seop?

What are you doing?

Hey, leech.

What the hell are you?

Let go!

Bang Tae Seop!

Bang Tae Seop!

Hey.

Take one more step,

and you're dead.

You really think you can say that, knowing who Chu Sang Ah really is?

You think you know her...

What,

that she asked you to kill Oh Kwang Jae?

So what?

What's the problem, huh?

You already knew...

You knew she put me up to it, and you threw a murder charge on me?

Hey!

Whatever you and Sang Ah had going on,

you were the one holding the knife.

And you paid for it. Got it?

Fine!

Then let's both go down.

I'll tear you both apart.

Go ahead.

Put it out there.

Did you forget I'm a prosecutor?

You release that,

and you rot in prison for life.

No.

Seven years ago, the Oh Kwang Jae murder case.

The one who ordered the killing was Chu Sang Ah.

The prosecutor who buried the case

is her now-husband, Bang Tae Seop.

[Oh Kwang Jae's Entertainment List] [Chu Sang Ah, Investor Kwon Se Myeong]

Before we go back through this couple's past,

[China Expansion & Investment Signing Ceremony]

there's someone you need to know

to understand what really happened.

Actress Han Ji Soo.

A lot of you

[Choi Ji Ho's Fact Check] have been waiting for this,

and it's something I've been working on for years,

so this episode will be split into two parts.

First,

let's take a look at Han Ji Soo, a key figure in the case.

Cut.

What was that?

No, wait...

I'm sorry.

Don't try to slide this past me.

If you want Sung Yu Mi, bring me Kim Won Bin.

That's how you make a deal, alright?

Tell your director this.

If he keeps this up,

I'll wipe their actors off the board.

I've got a situation on set. I'll call you later.

Hello, sir.

I should've handled Ji Soo better.

I'm really sorry you had to come all the way out here.

At this rate,

where do you think we can even use Han Ji Soo?

Where's Ji Soo?

[Sang Ah]

Please... please just pick up.

Ji Soo! Han Ji Soo!

Open the door.

I said I'm not filming!

Hey, CEO Oh is here!

Sir...

Ji Soo, are you okay?

What is it? What's the problem?

Sir.

Why is there another bed scene

that wasn't in the script?

Money. That's all.

That's what people want.

I can't do this anymore.

I'm seeing a psychiatrist, I can't sleep...

At this rate, I feel like I'm going to die.

I feel like dying too.

But a deal's a deal.

You signed, you shoot.

But...

Ji Soo.

You know why we stamp contracts in red?

It means it's written in blood.

Unless you're dead and there's a death certificate,

you finish what you signed.

This

could go to court.

- Please! - Alright! She's in the zone. Let's roll.

Where's Kim Jae Won? Get him in here.

Camera up!

What are you doing? Get in position.

Do you have any idea how much money we're burning while you stall?

Earn your keep.

Mr. Oh Kwang Jae!

Sang Ah.

Sir.

You're still pulling this kind of crap?

Before I expose everything you've pulled

and get you blacklisted from this industry,

you'd better straighten yourself out.

Ji Soo.

- Are you okay? - Chu Sang Ah.

What do you think you're doing?

I've had enough of your little tantrums.

Step away.

She's done with this film, starting today.

Send over the contract.

I'll cover the penalty.

[Oh Kwang Jae]

Don't take any calls.

Stay here for a while.

I'll talk to a lawyer and sort things out with CEO Oh's project.

Don't.

I don't want this to get any bigger.

- Ji Soo. - I'm scared.

If this goes any further, I feel like it's over for me.

What if he blocks my career...

and I never work again?

Let's just stop here.

Thank you for standing up for me, Sang Ah.

You're not going back to that project, right?

At least, if we cut the scenes that weren't in the script,

there aren't many shoot days left.

I want to talk to him and just finish it.

I'm worried

this will happen again.

How did it end up like this...

I just wanted to be a great actress.

Let's get stronger.

Then no one can push us around.

I heard Chu Sang Ah and Han Ji Soo

had been inseparable since their debut...

but to me, it felt like something more.

It wasn't just friendship,

it was love. Right?

Back then,

Chu Sang Ah didn't have any real scandals with men,

so I figured... maybe that was it.

So she really lost it, huh?

Over Han Ji Soo.

No one in that world could go up

against Oh Kwang Jae.

But Chu Sang Ah started spiraling.

And that spiral

led to murder.

So why did she

want Oh Kwang Jae dead?

What really happened

[Chu Sang Ah Announces Hiatus Following Han Ji Soo's Death]

between them?

[Chu Sang Ah Cast in Seeds of Tears]

Han Ji Soo, Oh Kwang Jae...

and Chu Sang Ah.

Could there be more

we don't know?

[Han Ji Soo Found Dead at Home in Apparent Suicide]

[Han Ji Soo Pushes Boundaries with Consecutive 19+ Roles]

I think everything went wrong

starting that night.

Oh, Ji Soo.

Sir.

Long trip, huh? Come on in.

We're filming today, right?

I didn't see any of the crew.

Sir.

This isn't a shoot, is it?

Something more important.

Chairman, and Chief Prosecutor.

Thank you for your patience.

This is Han Ji Soo, a new actress I just brought on.

Great voice, and she really knows how to use her body.

Let go!

Hey.

Easy there.

You almost hurt her.

Ji Soo,

are you okay?

What is this...

Just stay still. Don't make a scene.

My apologies, Chairman.

These are the pieces of evidence found at the Oh Kwang Jae crime scene.

I'll take the fall with you.

What did you do to Ji Soo?

If that gets out, we're finished.

You're no different.

My mistake was marrying a killer.

You're the one who killed him.

Even if you hadn't...

Oh Kwang Jae was going to die anyway.
