and I'm afraid there's
still a lot of confusion.

Suicide bombers? Remote devices?

[Hayman] We don't know yet.

We have teams at the trains,
but the conditions underground

are so difficult that we
can't even be 100% certain

how many fatalities there are.

- Why not, can I ask?
- The heat was extreme.

It's over 40 degrees down there,
that's causing all sorts of issues.

And at any given scene,

the nature of the explosions
in such a confined space

means that we're dealing
with, quite literally,

thousands of body parts
and pieces of body tissue.

Do we have any idea how many
explosions there have been?

- Confirmed? Four.
- I'm sorry, Home Secretary,

but I don't think that's
an accurate picture.

Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross,
and the bus at Tavistock Square.

- I've had information about six scenes.

This is exactly why

been detonated at low level.

My guess is this is the
work of a suicide bomber.

More time needed for analysis,

further gathering of residue
samples etcetera, etcetera.

But the initial forensic assessment
of the scenes seems pretty conclusive.

I think all of them
died with their bombs.

who we think detonated the device
at Edgware Road tube station.

making detritus.

They've been boiling down
peroxide as I guessed.

Evidence of organic matter.

Mixture looks relatively

of what happened
on July the 7th.

The detonator was a home-made
high explosive in powder form,

probably ignited by a
bare electric filament.

Then the main explosive was, we think,
hydrogen peroxide used as an oxidizer,

and the fuel, ground pepper.

In this instance it was pepper.

The tricky part, I'm reliably
informed, is to boil down the peroxide

and then combine it with the pepper
in precisely the right proportion.

Almost any organic material
would have worked. Wheat,

concentrated enough,

we mix it with the flour and
