the impound lot, and it's gonna
be headed to the scrap yard

in three days to be demolished.

We gotta come up with
a plan to get it back.

What's the plan?

All I know is we know
where the still's at.

We just gotta figure out where,
when, and how we're gonna

intercept it.
- We passed several good spots,

man, but we can't tell
one from the other.

My cousin Brent runs a wrecker
service that's been hired to

haul my still to the scrapyard.

And so while he's moving
the still from one place to

the other, that's when
we're gonna steal it back.

the impound lot, all right?

We take the first left.

People at the impound yard,
they know Brent.

Comes in and out of there
all the time.

I don't think there'll be
any issues picking it up.

While he leaves there,
we're gonna figure out how

my still back before he gets to

the scrapyard, because the last
thing I want is to get

my still crushed.

and we'll take that almost all

the way to where we're going.

down in here somewhere.

There's no traffic on that road
except for the people that live

on it or the people that come
flying across through there to

cut through,
which is very rare.

So I think that's the spot.

From the impound yard to
the scrap yard is about

30 minutes.

On one of those little side
roads in between there is where

we're gonna steal
our still back.

We're gonna steal our still
back, and then Brent's gonna go

back to the dang scrap yard,
and we are scot-free.

But you know one thing, man.

What's gonna happen when
he goes back and he's only

got a car?
He don't have a still.

They're expecting a still to be
on that truck as well as a car.

They might just want to
confirm that it's crushed.

So that means we got 72 hours
to build a dummy and get it all

built, get ready, get this plan
together, and get over there?

It needs to be pretty doggone
lightweight, something we can

just throw on, throw off,
sheet metal or sheet aluminum.

- Aluminum's lighter.
- Aluminum, definitely.

- And it's cheaper.

Well, we can
get some of that.

Now, look, aluminum,
it don't look like a still.

But throw a little paint
on it or something.

I'll find some copper paint.

So we're gonna get some
aluminum and some spray paint

and bang together some sort of
an apparatus

that we can swap it out with.

All it's got to do is be
shaped like a still and look

- the color copper.
- Let's make it happen.

So, we get in here,
and these other
three flavors ran off.

To make some good old
hard seltzer.

Hard, bubbly seltzers.

Me and Jerry's been selling
a lot of aged whiskey

to the biker bar
on consignment,

but we just want
some hard seltzer.

This part I ain't
worried about.

It's the next step.

good-flavored vodka.

Biggest problem is,
me and Jerry's never made

any hard seltzer.

something harder than that.

That's gonna make some good
strawberry-kiwi liquor.

We just want that vodka to pick
up a hint of that natural fruit

flavor that we're looking for...

put seltzer to it.

Our steam is hitting the jars.

It's starting to break these
strawberries down and release

all that good flavor.

You're gonna cross it over
and mix in with the kiwi,

and by the time it gets to
the money spout, we'll have

mixed strawberry,
kiwi-flavored vodka.

Ole high heads
right there, boy.

Woo wee!

That's about a perfect
stream, too, isn't it?

Get ready to get rid
of these heads.

That's rubbing
alcohol right there.

Tell you what,
for as high as it is,

that flavor's really there.

Once we eat up the strawberry
and kiwis, we can hit

two valves, throw it through
the straight arm, take the jars

off, pack them full
of pineapples.

There it comes.

Them pineapples is a-coming
on through, ain't they?

Mm.

It's definitely hot,
but, man, that flavor is,

I mean, like, stick to the roof
of your mouth.

Flavor is really,
really popping through,

coming out in this pineapple.

I'm gonna

Last, we're gonna do
our black cherry.

That's one of the most single,
sought-after seltzer flavors

on the market.

Cherries are breaking down.

seltzer before, but we've got

to put our heads together
and make this right.

break into the police

We come up with a plan that
maybe we could pull like

a switch on them, put a dummy

really mean so much to us.

stabilize that whole bottom.

And then we can lay that piece
of metal in there, cut it

For the bottom, as far as
the looks, we got this to

take care of the copper look.

Biggest thing, fellas, is this
has got to look like a still.

Our goal right now is just to
basically build a still that

looks just like the still that
they're about to crush.

This still doesn't have to
hold water.

It doesn't have to
match exactly.

It's just got to play the part.

We just got to pull
a switcharoo.

I think it ought to be a little
skinnier, but whatever.

It's OK.

We're building a decoy.

I'm not gonna lie to you,
if I could figure out

how to do
one out of cardboard,

we'd do it out of cardboard.

Starting to look like a darn
still pot already, right?

I like that.

We can take these,
do those half moons,

put four of them on here,
one, two, three, four,

put the bottom right to it,
and then all we gotta do is

- build a cake.
- Let's get it done.

What we're gonna do is take
some wooden strips, we're gonna

shoot some screws through it,
and use that to hold everything

together and use it to make it
rigid where this thing will

stay together while
the crusher crushes it.

Now let's get us
a bottom in this thing.

This still's
100% irreplaceable.

It's not the money
and the copper or the time that

it took to build it.

It's the fact that I built it
with Jim Tom.

It's the fact that the last run
of liquor that I ever made with

my dad, I made with this still.

Almost makes me want to put
some mash in the thing and just

see what it does, right?
- I bet we'll get far with that.

It means the whole wide world

Now, what we wound up using was
two different kinds of copper

- spray paint on this still.

We used one that was
a nice, shiny copper.

Then we found one that looked
like a hand-hammered copper,

and it gave it a little bit of
an aged look.

From right here,
that looks like copper.

- It damn sure does, don't it?
- I think it looks good.

I'm really proud of this pot
right here.

It came together in record
time, and really, it couldn't

look better.

It's actually shocking to me

how much this looks like
a real copper pot.

the strawberry-kiwi first.

through running three different

fruit-flavored vodkas here.

We got pineapple,
strawberry-kiwi,

and black cherry.

Boy, them strawberries is
already smelling good.

We're pretty good at making
vodkas, and that's all

a seltzer is, is carbonated
flavored vodkas.

You just got to put
the bubbles to it.

That's already starting to
smell like mama's kitchen when

she's making jams and jellies.

So, first thing we're gonna
do is cut up a bunch of fruits,

cook them down, add some sugar,
a one-to-one ratio of sugar to

the fruit, make a real,
natural, simple syrup.

Yeah, I think we're ready to
rock and roll, buddy.

Tell you what, that sure does
smell good and look good.

Then we're gonna add that
into our already-flavored

vodkas that we've got.

We're just simply gonna
strain the rough fruit off of

the syrup, put the syrup
straight into

the finished product
of the alcohol.

Whoa, look at that
beautiful color, son.

That looks good.
Lord have mercy.

If that don't catch the eye,
I don't know what will.

Stir it up.
And taste it and see

what it's like.

I tell you what, Jerry,
that almost strawberry-kiwi

- kind of puts a peach flavor to that, don't it?
- - Mm-hmm.

What does it taste like?

Wow, son.

That's good.
I'm telling you, that's good.

We put some carbonation
in that right there?

That's gonna be fine,

It's a good 10 %, which is about
double what anything else is,

but the flavor is just amazing.

what it's gonna be like.

The only step we gotta take
now with strawberry-kiwi

is to add those bubbles,

put the carbonation to it,
and see how it turns out.
