So, the snow stuff
growing up in Texas,

I don't know much
about snow, but

I'm excited to find out more.

And all this stuff that
I got, I made my money

back, so couldn't be happier.

they're antique tea caddies.

They were used to store tea
back in the late 18th century.

So these are both lovely
examples of Regency.

The Regency boxes were
usually done in mahogany

and sometimes Kingwood
and rosewood.

May I please see that one?

- Oh, man.

- I know.

I know I'm asking a lot here.

This is a sarcophagus
shape, which is a coffin.

- Oh.
- Yeah.

- I don't like
that one already.

- Around that time,
Napoleon traveled to Egypt,

and the Europeans became
really into Egyptology.

So you'll see a lot
of the sarcophagus shape.

This is called a triple
tea caddy because there

are three compartments.

These held the tea, and this
would have held the sugar.

They called it a mixing bowl.

Everything looks
original and intact.

- There was some
keys in one of them.

- There are actually
the two original keys...

[Ivy] OK.
- In this.

- With a little tassel.

- Yes.

Which is a great detail.

Now, nobody uses these, of
course, anymore to store tea.

They're decorative boxes.

They're beautiful.

I have my collection
of tortoise shell boxes.

I've had these for 25 years.

They're 200 years old
and the sea turtles

are extremely endangered.

So you can't sell these.

You can own them, but you
certainly can't transport them

in and out of the country.

25 years ago, I paid $5,000 for
this tortoise shell tea caddy.

And if they're in this kind of
condition, they're known to go

up to $20,000 for a tea caddy.

- [whistle]

All right,

I want to know what
these bad boys are worth.

- OK, let's discuss
this one first.

This one, it's done
in a beautiful flame mahogany.

[Ivy] With the key.

- It has-- it's the triple
compartment with the center,

whoops, there's the extra key.

There are two keys
with beautiful

detailing around the lids.

It's very handsome,
and it's very heavy.

You can feel
the quality in this box.

[Ivy] I want to know what
these bad boys are worth.

- More than I thought it'd be.

- OK, then we have
the smaller box here.

- The sarcophagus.

Beautiful shape,
original brass handles.

It has the original lids,
and the detailing is exquisite.

It is an excellent
condition, really beautiful.

A little more collectible
than this one.

aluminum, that's

to make it a little bit
stronger and a little lighter,

more durable.

These are really
interesting though.

These are just for art.

Like, these don't have
foot straps on them

and probably wouldn't
be too usable.

- Do you think
somebody used those

but there's no longer straps
and they became decorative?

- That's my assumption, yeah.

There needs to be something on
here to attach it to the foot.

And that's been lost to time.

- How old do you
think they are?

- These probably
look like they're

the oldest of the bunch.

I would say 1940s.
- OK.

These other two, these are
the newest of the three.

This is leather right here,
not rawhide like that might be,

but these are actually
in really good condition.

I would venture to say
these have never been used.

[Mary] Nice.

- You might have a brand-new
pair on your hands.

[Brandi] Wow.

- Maybe they were
on someone's wall for a while,

but these could be used
right now if you want to take

them out and try them out.
- Sure.

[John] These could definitely
work.

- Saddle up, Mary.

[Brandi] I mean, would somebody
use these that are this large?

This seems awfully awkward.

- Believe it or not,
the bigger, the better.

When you're in deep snow,
it's the size

of the footprint that actually
displaces your weight.

[Brandi] OK.
- And that's what makes it easy

for you to stay on top
of the snow.

And in fact,
if you're interested,

there are what modern-day
snowshoes look like,

[Brandi] Oh, wow.
- So quite a bit different.

This is what someone would use
here for hunting and mountain

climbing these days.

These are light, easy to just
strap on your backpack

and carry them up.

So if you're ever doing
any winter exploring,

this is what you would
see in someone's back.

- I'm not much
of a winter explorer.

I prefer sunshine and sand.

- We're in Southern California,
so believe it or not,

the ocean is an hour
and a half that way,

and the Mojave Desert is
about 30 minutes that way.

So we're right
in the middle at 8,000 feet.

- Such a cool state,
California.

You can go anywhere, you know?

Go to the beach, go
to the desert, go to the snow.

- Typical Californian
never stops talking

about how cool California is.

- OK, so what do you think for
the total of all these guys?

- Yeah, money.

We want to talk

of snowshoes here.

Three of them are definitely
usable, although these two

might be best on the wall.
