[Road Home]

[Episode 2]

It's snowing. Drive slowly.

Okay.

What are you looking for?

This?

Captain Lu.

Thank you so much. See you next time.

Thank you.

No worries.

Bye.

Bye.

You can wake up now.

I pretended so hard.

Can't you

talk to her more?

How pointless it would be

if I fumbled for something to say.

In my view, you have a lot to say.

In your view?

How old are you?

What can you tell?

Aunt Gui Xiao.

You like her, don't you?

Silence

means a yes.

When we were eating just now,

I asked them about their schedule.

They will depart from town in two days

to the city.

And they're not traveling for work.

They came for sightseeing.

Are you playing dumb?

This is not like you.

Captain Lu.

I'm not playing dumb.

I'm just lazy to answer.

Do you think

I didn't hear you ask them about it?

Did you eavesdrop on our conversation?

Sit back.

You can't talk to the driver when he's driving.

Don't you know that?

♫How did I get hooked on you?♫

♫I'm asking myself♫

♫I can give up anything♫

♫But I'm reluctant to leave today♫

♫You're not beautiful♫

♫But you're exceedingly adorable♫

♫Oh, Cinderella♫

♫My Cinderella♫

♫I'm constantly breaking your heart♫

♫I'm always being cruel♫

♫I told you not to take it seriously♫

♫'Cause I can't believe it♫

You're so persistent.

You keep on exercising

every day.

Wait for me to finish.

You have such a good figure.

Women dress up for their beholders.

Women dress up to satisfy themselves.

Gui Xiao.

Were you in a relationship with Captain Lu before?

To be honest,

when I saw you two

sitting side by side in the car,

I felt something was off.

Nope.

We are alumni.

It seemed awkward

because we had nothing to talk about.

Your former classmate is too courteous.

I wanted to buy him some supplements,

but he refused.

Lu Yanchen?

Yes.

He helped us twice.

Last night,

he even saved our lives.

So I suggested buying some supplements

for him.

I also offered to buy food and supplies

for the little boy.

But he refused everything.

No way.

My husband said

I must show my gratitude.

[People's Police Training Base]

[SWAT Detachment]

Your transfer application

has been approved.

I was kidding.

Lu Yanchen.

Yes.

In February next year,

you will be officially transferred to Tianwen City

to be the captain

of the Third Brigade

in the SWAT Detachment of Tianwen City Public Security Bureau.

Tianwen City is very close to Beijing.

Now,

you can often

reunite with your family.

Whose idea is this?

It's mine.

What's wrong?

Do you have a problem with your former leader?

I haven't decided yet.

No need for you to decide.

It has been decided.

I know

you have something on your mind.

But you shouldn't stop here.

I won't reason about

a bright future with you.

I just want to tell you that

you are my pride after all these years.

It was not easy cultivating you.

You, Lu Yanchen,

are born for this role.

For the country,

you must devote yourself entirely.

Yes.

After arriving there,

do your best.

You failed?

Not only was your resignation declined, but you also got promoted?

You knew?

How is that possible?

I guessed it.

What kind of person are you? Explosive Ordnance Disposal Hero.

If I were the leader,

I wouldn't let you go home and do nothing either.

Let's go.

Meet you at the same place on the weekend.

We'll give you a farewell party in advance.

Is it Aunt Gui Xiao?

Even the scenes in TV dramas

don't have a character like you.

I can't talk about her, nor can I mention her.

It's not.

So what?

That only means

you have something on your mind.

If there's nothing,

since she came all the way here,

you should show her around.

Give me your homework.

I haven't finished yet.

Give it to me.

If there's one mistake,

you aren't allowed to go out tomorrow.

You're a tyrant.

Do you want to move back to your place?

No.

I just want to be with Uncle Lu.

When will my dad come?

Soon.

Why are you just sitting here?

Have some peanuts and sunflower seeds.

My treat.

Captain Lu, congratulations on your promotion.

It's a normal work transfer.

You're so modest.

Go on.

Sister-in-law.

-Sister-in-law. -You're here.

Sister-in-law.

Sister-in-law.

Sister-in-law.

Hurry and give me some help.

I can't handle it alone.

Sure.

Okay.

Sister-in-law, where is Captain Lu?

Let's go.

He went to buy you drinks.

It's snowing these days.

The drinks delivery guy didn't come.

The drinks are not enough for you.

The captain's wallet is about to cry.

Thank you.

It's prettier than this.

Not bad.

Xiaonan, you're good at drawing.

It's a work of art.

Amazing.

Of course.

Give me a hand.

Why are you laughing?

Captain Lu.

We saw your ex-girlfriend.

At first, we didn't believe

what Xiaonan told us.

Captain Lu, your subconscious action

has betrayed you.

Get things done!

Captain Lu.

Is your ex-girlfriend married?

I'm just caring about her.

Even if you broke up,

you could still be friends, right?

Yes.

I even went to

my first love's wedding

with the biggest red packet.

Don't tell us

she came to Qining

for her honeymoon.

That's sad.

The one who can subdue Captain Lu

married someone else.

What a pity.

Are you done?

Captain Lu. Please arrange for us to meet her.

We rarely gather together.

We broke up long ago.

How are you supposed to meet her?

Captain Lu, you don't understand.

First love is always the best.

At least,

it's different from others.

Anyway, we suggest you

take the privilege as a host to entertain her,

right?

Yeah, you are the host.

Yes, Captain Lu.

We need to show them

our enthusiasm.

[Ma's Fine-quality Beef and Mutton]

The whole thing.

Do you want the sheep...

-Does this... -we just bought yesterday?

show my sincerity?

Of course.

I want two.

Unfortunately, only one is left.

I'm giving it to you

because you want to thank your savior.

Okay, thank you.

No problem.

Finally, he replied.

I thought

it was a fake number.

There was no reply from that day.

I texted him three days ago,

but he just replied today.

Who is it?

Captain Qin.

I asked for his phone number

during dinner that day.

Boss, hurry up.

Today,

they are all having a farewell dinner

nearby.

Let's go over there.

Why should we go

to their gathering?

Do you think I'm so inconsiderate?

Captain Lu asked you to go.

He wants to meet you.

I'm doing this

to repay Captain Lu's kindness.

I have to complete the task.

I can give him the gift in passing.

He asked me to go?

Impossible.

Look.

Captain Lu wants to meet Miss Gui Xiao.

Please invite her over.

I'll treat her to a meal.

I'm not going, really.

Hello.

Aunt Gui Xiao.

My dad and Uncle Lu are drunk.

Please come over quickly.

Everyone has left.

I can't handle them myself.

There are so many people.

They can't really

leave them alone.

When I was your age,

I stopped telling such lies.

Is she coming?

Try what I just taught you.

Aunt Gui Xiao.

Are you Uncle Lu's first love?

Uncle Lu is drunk.

Poor him.

His eyes are red.

And he is talking about your past

with my dad.

You...

Keep an eye on them.

It's late, so I won't go over there.

It's not dark yet.

Gui Xiao.

Ask him for an address.

You're such a little smart cookie.

How did you persuade him?

It's just teamwork.

Aunt Cai,

I'll leave the rest to you.

Leave it to me!

I'd love to

do matchmaking for my savior.

Send me the address. Hurry.

Boss, hurry up.

Okay.

Here, scan here will do.

It's paid.

Okay.

♫How much I want to go back home♫

♫To be by her side again♫

♫To see her kindness and gentleness♫

♫To soothe my broken heart♫

♫Let me go back home♫

Hello.

Hello.

Are you looking for Captain Lu?

Come in.

♫To soothe my broken heart♫

Come in, please.

♫The year you set off into the twilight♫

♫You thought there was something there♫

Stop singing.

Captain Lu is inside.

Just go inside.

Since I'm here,

I should meet him.

Give them some space.

Yes.

♫Could you hear?♫

♫Several years♫

♫Ask for my soul overall desire♫

♫Pure your heart♫

♫Cure your hurt♫

♫Wait for your pain, overcome the fear♫

♫Turning around and brushing past♫

♫I'm the only one left in the world♫

♫Waiting for fate to take its course♫

♫Listen to the sound of approaching footsteps♫

♫In a flash, I'm not paying attention♫

Lu Chen.

♫The whole heart has fallen and lost its soul♫

♫I accept the push of destiny♫

♫And embrace the extraordinary love♫

♫Could you hear?♫

Why are you here again?

♫Several years♫

♫Ask for my soul overall desire♫

What do you want?

♫Pure your heart♫

I wouldn't have come if you hadn't called me.

♫Cure your hurt♫

I called you?

♫Wait for your pain, overcome the fear♫

Gao Hai.

What's wrong, Captain Lu?

Come.

Come closer to me.

Captain Lu.

Apologize.

Well...

I'm sorry, Miss Gui Xiao.

Just now,

I pretended to be Captain Lu.

I always like to

imitate people's voices.

I'm just kidding.

For the sake of his mission,

he has been

learning voice imitation for years.

It does sound similar.

How could you make such a joke?

Gui Xiao, I'm sorry.

It's okay.

You imitated it

quite well.

Miss Gui Xiao.

On behalf of my second hometown,

Qining,

on behalf of our brigade, I welcome you.

You will definitely fall in love with Qining.

Just like you do with your hometown.

This is Captain Lu's favorite place.

By the way,

the mutton here is delicious.

Captain Lu is unoccupied now.

Captain Lu, remember to

take them there to eat.

You guys continue.

I'll leave you alone.

They are used to fooling around

without having a sense of propriety.

Have a seat.

Shouldn't you apologize first?

Captain Lu.

Please excuse me.

I was rude just now.

I just heard on the phone that

no one could handle you when you were drunk,

and you were talking nonsense

about our past.

Then I heard you call my name.

So I came because I was afraid something would happen.

Since it's a misunderstanding,

I'm leaving now.

Have a seat.

I'll send you back later.

I've been here for days.

You don't have to see me off.

Anyway,

there will be no next time.

Lu Chen, if you dare to hang up on me,

there will be no next time.

You'll never see me again.

So soon?

It hasn't been 10 minutes yet since I entered the house.

My head hurts.

I don't feel well.

Let me see you off.

I've known her for years.

She is really angry now.

Don't worry.

I'll talk to her later.

Thank you.

Do you want to drive?

See you, Captain Qin.

Bye.

Let's go.

I'm not defending Captain Lu.

You may not know something.

Qin Mingyu told me

their former captain had perished in the line of duty

last week.

He said the captain had guided

and supported Captain Lu all the way.

But, he died right in front of Captain Lu.

Captain Lu resigned because he blamed himself.

Lu, try to comfort her.

Uncle Lu.

Isn't he cold?

Anything else, Captain Lu?

Do me a favor.

Cai.

Captain Lu.

Please go ahead.

I really need your help.

I want that kid

to study in Beijing.

Can you

find me a prestigious school?

You want to go to Beijing

with that kid?

Gui Xiao.

If it's simply a transfer to another school,

you don't need to ask for help.

You've been in Beijing longer than me.

You're more familiar than me.

Do me a favor.

Gui Xiao.

Think of it as helping me.

This is on my account.

I'm not a kid anymore

to lose my temper.

He apologized.

There's no point in unforgiving.

I'll go back to Beijing the day after tomorrow.

But this is not

as simple as you think.

We need to work out the details.

Take the kid to Beijing

as soon as possible.

It'd be better to get it done during the winter vacation.

Don't delay his class.

Let's discuss this now.

Now?

Do it now.

You've helped me

a lot.

As his father,

I should show my gratitude.

Come in and have a bite.

We won't let Captain Lu drink tonight.

Let him drive you home.

That's right.

I haven't eaten anything yet.

Captain Qin, is there any food inside?

Anything you want.

Help yourself. It's my treat.

No need.

Gui Xiao.

I really didn't know

you were called here.

Forget it.

You know

I buy the apologies.

I'll be fine if you say sorry.

I'm sorry.

♫It was a hurry♫

♫I saw you off with a song♫

♫We were drunk in the wind♫

Have a seat.

♫And parted in different directions♫

Alright, stop singing.

Just listen to the song quietly.

♫No need to say anything♫

You guys talk first.

♫No need to understand♫

It's about your son.

What should we talk about without you?

♫A million miles across in a dream♫

I'm going to look for food.

♫A year simply passed by♫

♫As long as you glanced back♫

Tell me the details.

♫That would be enough♫

Let me make this clear.

Gui Xiao.

♫When the flowers fall♫

Even if you fail,

I'm still grateful to you.

♫We'll meet again♫

Don't mention it.

Tell me the details.

♫It was a hurry♫

Here's the thing.

I'm divorced

♫I saw you off with a song♫

and I took Xiaonan with me.

I'm usually

busy with the team

♫We were drunk in the wind♫

while Xiaonan is studying at a school on a temporary basis.

No one takes care of him.

Poor thing.

♫And parted in different directions♫

My household registration was in Beijing.

♫The fog is thick♫

I was transferred here because of work.

When Xiaonan was born,

♫I should never forget my original intention♫

his household registration was under his mother.

♫I used a bird to deliver the letter♫

That's the situation.

I can transfer back

♫And hoped for a reply♫

our household registration.

But I want him

to study in Beijing for a few years

♫The years are rippling♫

and live on campus

when he's in junior high school.

♫On both sides of the crowd♫

♫Old wishes are hard to come true♫

He's too young.

I, as an outsider,

♫Old dreams are vanquishable♫

don't feel at ease hearing about this plan,

let alone you, his birth father.

♫And there's nothing left but sighs♫

♫The sound of memories never goes away♫

I helped Yaya's relatives

♫It should be the fallen leaves and frost♫

with the same issue last year.

♫I wish seeing the handwriting in your letter is like seeing you in person♫

It's very similar.

The transfer only requires a regular procedure.

♫The past has not been left unattended♫

It doesn't matter who handles it.

But it can be a hassle

♫With ink as a sail♫

to transfer his household registration

♫Tossing and turning between my fingers♫

and go through the process.

It may take a long time.

♫The distance between us is far away♫

So I suggest you

find a private school

♫Even if we don't meet each other♫

for a one-semester transition.

♫My longing can overwhelm a thousand mountains♫

After the household registration is done, then transfer him to a public school.

♫It's like it was yesterday♫

Got it.

You can't go back yet, right?

♫Where can we see the full moon?♫

How are you going to find a school for him?

I'll take care of it.

How about this?

I'll recommend the school to you.

I have friends

whose children are in school.

They are familiar with the school.

I'll go through the transfer procedures

♫It was a hurry♫

for you too.

After all, I've done it before

and I'm familiar with the process.

♫I saw you off with a song♫

Thank you so much.

♫Look at each other without words♫

♫This heart is the same♫

When are you going back to Beijing?

♫The fog is thick♫

I haven't finished

my work here.

♫Don't ask about my feelings♫

♫I'll tell you all my sorrows♫

You guys continue.

You and our sister-in-law...

♫In the bright moon♫

♫The years are rippling♫

Talk with our ex-sister-in-law.

♫On both sides of the crowd♫

♫Old wishes are hard to come true♫

♫Old dreams are vanquishable♫

♫And there's nothing left but sighs♫

♫The sound of memories never goes away♫

♫It should be the fallen leaves and frost♫

♫I wish seeing the handwriting in your letter is like seeing you in person♫

♫The past has not been left unattended♫

♫With ink as a sail♫

Have some beef jerky.

♫Tossing and turning between my fingers♫

I'll get you some water.

Lu Chen.

♫The distance between us is far away♫

I'm not thirsty.

♫Even if we don't meet each other♫

♫My longing can overwhelm a thousand mountains♫

♫It's like it was yesterday♫

♫Where can we see the full moon?♫

The atmosphere is good.

Do you two

want me to go back and persuade her?

Are they really first love?

Kind of.

Did Captain Lu tell you?

My son figured it out.

When he first came to Qining,

he lived with Lu Yanchen.

There's a sketch

in Captain Lu's drawer.

A sketch of Gui Xiao?

He didn't even tell me.

A few days ago, he spilled it out.

But Captain Lu's

sketching skill

is top-notch.

It's almost the same as the photo.

Many brothers are drunk.

I have to watch over them.

No need to see me off.

♫I can give up anything♫

♫But I'm reluctant to leave today♫

Captain Lu. Captain Lu.

♫You're not beautiful♫

♫But you're exceedingly adorable♫

♫Oh, Cinderella♫

♫My Cinderella♫

♫I'm constantly breaking your heart♫

♫I'm always being cruel♫

You didn't drink.

Aren't you going to see them off?

♫I told you not to take it seriously♫

These people are here.

Is the story between you and your ex-girlfriend

♫'Cause I can't believe it♫

really unforgettable?

I've never seen you like this.

♫You're so beautiful♫

Have you ever seen me drunk?

I've never seen that.

♫And you're exceedingly adorable♫

But the word "sense of propriety"

is really custom-made for you.

♫Oh, Cinderella♫

♫My Cinderella♫

You were not here when I first came.

I was so hungry that

I swallowed snake gall and drank goat blood.

I traveled through the deep forest

with a load of 40 kilograms

♫Maybe you didn't♫

and never collapsed.

♫Think my heart would hurt♫

But when I got drunk,

♫If this is a dream♫

I thought of her.

♫I'd like to stay drunk and not wake up♫

In a half-man tall field,

I stayed there alone,

drinking all night

until I blacked out.

♫I used to hold back♫

♫I've waited so long♫

♫Maybe I'm waiting for you to come♫

♫Maybe I'm waiting for you to come♫

Commissioner Du.

Commissioner Du.

Grandpa Du.

So lively.

I'm just passing by. Go on.

Do what you should.

I heard that Captain Lu

had prepared good wine and dishes.

My wife

doesn't care about my dinner.

She asked me to scrounge a free meal.

So she doesn't have to cook.

Sir,

you're wrong.

He bought the wine.

But I cooked the dishes.

I see.

That's not right.

What's wrong?

This is my restaurant.

What I say is always true.

It's rare for them to gather here.

It's just a dinner.

Have a seat.

I'll cook some new dishes.

No need.

Give me some peanuts

and two pieces of mutton will do.

Please, I insist.

Just wait.

Okay.

Mingyu.

I heard that you are transferring your kid to another school.

I just talked

with Captain Lu's ex.

She is nice.

She didn't mind anything

and agreed to do it.

Ex-girlfriend?

During college

or later?

During college.

I've only been with her. No one else.

Can you handle it?

I'll help contact others if you can't.

I noticed that

you really care about them.

Of course.

We northeasterners are grateful.

Let's go to bed. You're leaving tomorrow.

♫You must have secretly collected♫

♫So much wind and frost♫

♫Waiting to meet someone♫

♫Who can know how to taste♫

♫On a night with wine and wind♫

♫Half a moon♫

♫The moon♫

♫You must have wiped it silently♫

♫For a long time♫

♫Knowing that life is silent♫

♫Only have the light when it's like a mystery♫

♫On a night when no one knows♫

It's windy here.

♫The breeze goes everywhere♫

♫The breeze♫

♫You must have been there in secret♫

♫To the farthest places♫

♫Bringing back the green plants of summer♫

♫And the fallen leaves of autumn♫

♫On a night when you're dating in the garden♫

[Home]

♫The pathos of youth is sung♫

Hello?

Mom, it's me.

You call at this hour.

Your dad will be upset.

I have something to discuss with you.

Go ahead.

I can only go back to Beijing after the Chinese New Year.

My friend's child

wants to live in Beijing.

I'll send him back.

Please take care of him for a few days.

A kid?

You know

your dad's temper.

I think we should forget it.

Besides,

children are important

in general families,

like their lifeblood.

Don't simply take care of others' children.

If anything happens,

you can't pass the blame.

Your dad is awake.

I'm hanging up.

See how smart I am.

I named you ZZZ

so that you would be the last one in the phone book.

No one can find you.

Neither can my parents.

Are you still up?

Pack up for Qin Xiaonan.

I'll take him back to Beijing first.

The flight is at 4:20 pm

the day after tomorrow.

I'll buy him a ticket later.

Remember to take him to the airport

before 3 o'clock.

Don't miss the flight.

Gui Xiao.

It's late at night.

Aren't you afraid of catching a cold after the shower?

I wasn't showering.

I wanted to wash my face with hot water,

but the water

didn't warm up.

Bye.

Pack up your son's luggage tomorrow.

Gui Xiao is taking Xiaonan to Beijing

the day after tomorrow.

She's probably afraid that

it would be too late

for us to take him there.

Your first love is really nice.

I've asked already.

She's not married yet.

But she helped me

so much with this matter.

It seems that she still likes you.

Seize the chance.

We're not

in our teens anymore.

Once we're together,

what can I provide her with?
