While you're sweating, oh my god.
I tried to get some on the lid.
Excuse me, daredevil, but I need to clean your beard for you.
This is Hot Ones Versus.
In front of these contestants is a deck of deeply personal questions.
They can either tell the truth, or suffer the wrath of the last death.
Whoever eats the most wings, loses.
Good luck with that.
I can actually smell the spice.
I really like spice, but I think I'm going to be shocked by this.
I hope so.
Kingpin and Daredevil have one of the most intense rivalries in all of Marvel.
Having worked together over the past ten years, give me three pieces of brutal
feedback as a scene partner.
Um, brutal.
I'm just going to eat.
Straight off the bat.
Is that good enough? Yeah.
It's like impending doom.
Yeah. It's coming big time.
Oh, no,
I wish I'd go first now. It doesn't stop. It just keeps coming.
Charlie and I, the good thing about our relationship as actors playing these
parts is that We agree on everything.
I've never had such a better relationship before on a show.
Why are you having some milk?
I don't want the fucking trophy, dude.
It all counts.
There's no marks against you for having milk.
This is a friend talking.
It cools you down.
Right? That's why they give you milk.
There you go. You're welcome.
Okay, well, that does help.
But it comes back immediately.
You've been playing the role of Daredevil for over a decade. What
you give to a younger Charlie Cox about playing a Marvel superhero all these
years? Oh, that's easy. That's an easy question.
I wish I'd started stretching earlier.
Yeah, I know you're serious about that.
That's become really important.
I do it every day, stretch every day.
Never in my wildest.
dreams did I imagine it would go on this long. I remember in my, like, 20s, a
lot of the young British actors that I kind of came up with, some of them were
starting to play superheroes.
You know, Henry Cavill and Andrew Garfield and Tom Hiddleston, of course.
when this came along, it felt like this is probably my last opportunity to play
one of these really cool characters.
It's been thrilling, the whole experience. But it's still kind of
little bit, you know. I think that you're fortunate that...
You get to show your acting chops rather than just your, you know, incredible
way of doing this, not jumping around. Because it's a TV show. No, but I think
our show is emo.
We're always whining and crying and suffering.
I have no idea what's going on, honestly.
My lips are burning and everything is just... Is it that bad?
Well, I don't want to hype it up too much, but it's not great.
This is a wild card.
Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk have gotten into our fair share of fistfights. Now
it's time for facts to meet fiction as we face off in a toy boxing game.
Oh, wicked.
Any trash talking you want to do before we get started? Yeah, fuck off.
I'm on your inside.
Here we go. You ready? Yeah.
How does it compare to the first?
The thing about it... None of it's good, by the way. None of it's good.
But the thing about it is that they go in really nicely.
Yeah, and then it's off. Like... I'll have it. Yeah.
Yeah.
I quit. I quit about you.
Walk out.
Walk out.
Okay.
Two, two.
All right, this is weird. Let's see how well you know my list
of characters, meaning the things I've played. Yeah, I know what this is, guys.
I will now perform a series of D 'Onofrio, I'm speaking of myself in the
person, which is awesome, voices, and you must successfully identify them,
one, and eat a death wing. Okay.
This relies on you to do a good impression of yourself.
I hope it burns.
That's Wilson Pick.
Eat the chicken.
Edgar.
Men in Black, yeah? Yeah.
Those are as powerful as a 7 .62 millimeter.
Full metal jacket, yeah.
I wish I was a cowboy. My mother said I would be.
That's going to be tough. You don't know that. Wait, hang on. Hold on, hold on,
hold on, hold on.
My mama said I was a cowboy.
Is it the adventures of babysitting? No.
That's Thor. Thor doesn't talk. Yeah, that's right.
You've probably never seen it. That's the thing. Yeah, Salton Sea.
All right.
What do you recommend? I'm going to go for a drop. Yeah, I've done that
somewhere.
It goes down nice, right? It comes in nice.
Yeah. It's there, though.
How's it going?
Let me talk.
Is this something that you can go into somewhere in America and order that and
eat it? Yeah.
I'm going to go for the early almond milk.
Friendship test. I'm going to write down my answer and you have to guess my
response. Guess wrong and eat a death wing.
It's impossible to fight crime without experiencing a few bumps along the way.
What is the worst injury I've gotten playing Daredevil?
So are we talking like a body part?
I think so, yeah. I can identify it through a body part, I think.
I think I know exactly what it is. This is so much hotter than I thought it was
going to be.
Ready? On three. One, two, three.
But it's more cumulative.
I had to have surgery on one of my shoulders.
One of the hardest things to do is throw a punch and not make contact with
anything.
because you throw these punches, obviously you're not hitting the other,
stunt performer or the other actor.
So you have to throw it with all your might and then pull it back at the last
minute or like just stop it dead.
And that is not good for the shoulder mechanics at all.
I remember it was bad.
Friendship test. I'm going to write down my answer and you have to guess my
response. From mob bosses to serial killers, I have a knack for playing
and sometimes frightening characters.
However, what is my biggest fear?
Can I ask a couple of questions?
Is it real or imagined?
Is it like a spider, like an actual tangible thing? It's a tangible thing.
you're very close.
Is it an insect of some sort?
And it's an insect.
So it's not a snake, is it?
Correct. I know what an insect is.
I'll give you another hint.
So I had to deal with them in the movie once.
I had to deal with several of them, actually.
Okay. I got it. One, two, one, two, three. Yep, you got it.
Thank you.
They were hissing cockroaches?
They had them packed into my shirt sleeves so that when I reach and serve
thing, they all... Real ones? Yeah, real ones came running out.
Did you get your phobia of them from the movie, or you already had them? No, I
already had my phobia, yeah. What?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was tough.
You know, it's a movie set. So, like, when you're on a movie, as you know,
when we're on a movie set, like, the guy will come over and goes, hey, I've got
these roaches to put on you. And I'm like, okay, I thought those were going
be, like, CGI. He goes, nope, we're just going to pack them in your sleeves. I'm
like, well, but, like, what's going to make them come out?
Like they're not trained or anything, right?
And he goes, no, you can't train a rose. I go, thanks.
And he goes, no, you just have to wing it each time. I said, wait a second. So
winging it means they could go other places, not just out of my sleeve. He
well, most likely they won't come out of your sleeve. That's why we have to do
it a couple of times. You can feel them. Oh, fuck, yeah, they're moving all over
the place.
And so what I did was I cupped the ends of the shirt, the jacket that I was
wearing. So now they're locked in there, right, the roaches. So I go like this.
And bring them, as many as them can, to my forearms. And then I took the place
in it, and sure enough, as soon as I reached out, five of them came running
of each arm.
One take?
Wow. Your work as Detective Gorin on
Law & Order, Criminal Intent, made you one of the most beloved characters in
long -running franchise's history.
Who is on your Mount Rushmore of law and order detectives?
I'm going to eat a wing.
Oh, wow, double bite.
Triple bite.
Wow, were you bluffing all along? Oh, my God.
Is this a tactic or were you bluffing all along? I'm just winging it. I have
idea what's going to happen. You're winging it.
That was probably really stupid because it's coming on really strong.
I think I left that show as a better actor.
As we know, like in television, you have to make sometimes three or at least two
transitions emotionally in every scene that you do. Whereas in film, you do
like maybe one, an act.
I had to learn that. No, I had only done film up to that point. And it's a much
slower process from the shooting of it, right? Everything is different.
Wow.
Okay.
Okay, that was dumb.
You're a massive fan of Arsenal Football Club.
Look into the camera and say three nice things about their rivals.
Oh, my God.
That's a really good.
It's a really unfortunate question, especially right now.
Yeah.
Yeah. Let's talk about it for a little bit. Yeah.
I think that going going, you know, what's going on
now with your.
You're peeing.
I don't know what that's going to do. I don't know, but it's very, like, Western
cowboy stuff.
You know, having a glass of milk to cool things down.
Come on, you.
Come on, you got it.
You got this, dude.
That's my arsenal cannon.
Nice. For so much of a loser I am.
I'm in bad shape.
You can do it.
It's tradition around here to put a little extra on the last wing. Oh,
fucking kidding me.
You and your opponent can add an extra dab to your final wings now.
Do you want to do it to ourselves or do it to yourself? I don't want to do it at
all.
I think that's the... You seem to be doing way better than me right now. I
see straight.
Okay, I'm going to do this. Which piece do you want?
I don't fucking know.
Okay.
There we go. Yeah, there it is.
Okay, that's enough.
I need some of your milk, I'm sorry.
Go for it.
Why are you sweating? Oh, my God.
I tried to get some on the lips.
I'm in bad shape.
I'm in rough shape.
It's time to settle our score once and for all. We will now face off in a
-take -all thumb war to determine who's the better competitor.
A thumb war.
Okay, we're going to have to find out.
Is he going to be all right?
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, I'm fine, I'm fine. It's really hot. I can see.
You look like you're sweating.
Charlie Vincent.
This is a thumb war. The trophy goes home with whoever wins.
So we're going to keep our elbows on the mat.
Interlock our fingers.
We ready?
Yeah. One, two, three, four.
I declare a thumb war.
Okay. Hands down.
I've got to be on the thingy.
Oh, hands down, hands down, hands down.
One.
He's got slippery thumbs. Wipe his thumbs.
This is like the show.
There's no winner.
One, two, three.
He moved his elbow.
Yeah. All right.
I promise you right now, if I'd have lost that thumb war, I would not be
this wing.
I would be trying to pay my way out of it. I don't believe that.
I'll take a bite.
Come on. It's just a few happens.
Let me just spread it out a little bit.
That's your work. I know.
Oh, my God.
Oh, God.
Oh, God.
Oh, my God.
I'd like to dedicate and donate it to my
dear friend and competitor.
I think we'll share it. I'm going to let you take it home and show your family
first. Why don't we put it somewhere at work?
That's a good idea.
In the makeup trailer.
Yeah, I'm in really bad shape right now.
I think I let myself down at the end. I think I was doing pretty well. I was so
impressed with your four bites of the wing, and I wanted to keep up.
There's no one I'd rather be here with than you.
Especially as we're about to embark on another few months of rivalry.
It's a great way to start.
Daredevil season.
Daredevil Born Again Season 2 will be streaming on Disney Plus March
24th.
Thank you very much.
I'd
like
to plug milk.
Milk is awesome.
Milk rocks.
That's about it. My lips are burning.
I'd like to go home.
Cry.
Eat the chicken.
