My education in architecture provides me

For me, it's important that timeless elegance shines

through every element

of the inauguration's decor, style and design.

there's one continuous theme: white and gold.

I came here when I was two, immigrated from Laos,

and we came here to America

'cause my family wanted opportunities, um,

equality and everything good

about what America represented.

And so this moment signified

everything that my parents believed in America.

It's really the American dream.

So this is the one, the coupe from my home country,

and what we can do,

we could put

- a presidential seal in it. - Yes.

Engrave it, and every glass could have it.

It's really something special to honor my parents.

To bring something from my country of birth

to now home country

just to make them feel like they're part of a family.

to see that we are both passionate

about helping foster children get an education.

Only three percent of the children

from foster communities

go to universities.

We need to do better.

We need to educate our next generation,

I constantly think about how our lawmakers

We spent much of the day walking through the Capitol,

from one ceremony to the next.

That meant more time to take in the surroundings,

exchange smiles with the Capitol staff,

and of course, spend a little extra time in heels.

REPORTER: Mr. President, will you issue a blanket pardon

to the January 6 prisoners?

This year, instead of the traditional parade

through Washington, D.C.,

the public celebration was held

inside the Capital One Arena.

The extreme cold made it a practical decision.

But in truth, I was relieved.

Being in a more secure and closed space

brought a certain peace of mind.
