so it'll be all the way

illegally trespassing,

bringing the lawsuit
against these poachers

and their phony mining claims.

And if we win,
they won't be able to dig

anywhere in the state of Utah.

to take over the land

none are known to exceed
six feet in length.

While the native kingsnake
is one of the strongest

constrictors on the planet,

their size prevents
them from being capable

of killing prey
as large as deer.

while patrolling the property,

some sort of animal
in Beaver Creek Pond.

the property

this morning,
right down there,

and these weeds sounded like
water movement,

and I was
able to grab my phone,
and this is what I got.

But that's a huge
serpent-looking thing,

but it's got scales like
an alligator would
all along its back,

but that's only about 12
to 13 feet sticking out
of the water.

The other half is diving
straight down.

-Mmm.
-Same area,
right down the creek there.

I found drag marks, too,
coming down the hill.

-That's getting wild as hell.

The drag marks, that wide.

-Well, we've seen it before.

It looks like
they were pulling something
huge out of the pond.

and I are going to check out

the water flow,
see if it's gone down any,

and see if we still have
a huge flow going under
the ranch.

If the water's gone down,
we can drill the energy
zone then.

a conical tooth to me.

Without blood cells,
you get this weird
plasma green effect.

Somehow the blood separated.

accelerating the decomposition
of this animal.

to ancient petroglyphs

near Blind Frog Ranch.

Estimated to be
1,000 years old,

these rock drawings
were made by the enigmatic
Freemont culture

who lived here as early
as 950 A.D.

This is what I wanted
to show you guys.

[Chad] Oh, you're not kidding.

We have these
anthropomorphic figures.

Those look like some type
of deer or antelope.

we have that squiggly line?

It looks like a snake.

[narrator] The petroglyphs
depict animals that were
common here at the time,

including antelope and deer.

But they also depict
mysterious figures

whose meanings
are not so clear,

including a giant serpent.

Some believe that such snakes
may have been common
at the time,

only to have disappeared
in the many years

since this petroglyph
was created.

[Chad] I mean, all these
animals were creatures

that they
were seeing back then.

So what does this mean
for the snake?

You know, who knows.

But it's just interesting
that it's here.

So this is what's really,
really amazing
about this rock art.

You have right here
what almost looks like
a large portal or gateway

-and some creature
coming out of it.

Look at the squiggly lines

under
the anthropomorphic figure.

In traditional maps,
that's what you use for water.

Is that a river
running underground?

a water feature underground?

that there's a connection

between the petroglyphs
and our ranch.

a water sample from the pond

to test for DNA.

what kind of microbes
are there,

how many living creatures
are in there

and who's feeding off of who.

and our job

is to get these tests done.

So that means
the energy zone has to be dry.

And we can start drilling.

the flood waters receded,

turn their sights

back to drilling
in the keyhole formation

that sits below the vent shaft

that James discovered
with his magnetometer.

How deep did that, uh, scan
show where the vent shaft is?

It's just short of a 125 feet.

a rat hole rig.

And it'll drop us down
about a 150 foot.

It would give us
about 30-inch hole.

It'll get us into
that [bleep] cavern.

What's the plan
when we hit the chamber

with the rat hole rig?

You know, once we tap
into the roof of that deal,

you know good and well,
we're gonna have to drop
some cameras down there.

And if it's a big void
and we're at the top
of the cave,

we will build a basket
that could let somebody
down in there

with oxygen and everything.

We'll bring in a crane
and drop that basket
down in there.

Take the hole we have,
then widen it,

and then we could
definitely fit, like,

a whole basket down in there
without getting stuck.

So we could have plenty
of room to get
in and out of there.

is to drill a shaft
150 feet deep

into the keyhole chamber,

then widen the shaft,

so a person can be lowered
into the chamber from above.

This'll be the deepest
we've ever dug, though,

so there's gonna be
a lot of logistical issues.

If we're going a 150 foot,

that means we're gonna go
through different layers.

So we're gonna start
at the sandstone

and we could hit limestone,

we could hit quartz
and really hard [bleep].

It's just gonna take longer
to get through.

All that hard stone
is gonna wear that bed out,

so they need to bring in
a lot of extra teeth

'cause it'll get hot...

and it'll melt those teeth.

Just getting
that thing over there
is gonna be a bitch.

have to track it in
which will take a full day.

difficult maneuver

a 750-foot climb

over the backside
of the energy zone.

It is very difficult
for these guys to get
this equipment up here.

It's pretty steep.

He can slip and slide.

bit of a slippery drive

is take the rat hole rig

These guys that are coming in,
they know what they're doing,

to finish its journey

has made it
to the energy zone,

the next step
is to create a flat,

stable drilling platform
for the rig.

from the pond

and we're gonna measure
the frequency

of all the life forms in it.

It's not gonna give us
the DNA yet.

We have to send all that out.

But, at least,
we can get a baseline.

We have a lot of bacteria,

amoebas, um, parasites,

which is normal
in these waters.

This one is called Ascaris.

It's weird
because they need a host.

It's found in animals.

That must mean
there's some sort of

is to find out

what the DNA belongs to.
