these geophysical tests

to narrow in to an exact spot
where we can get into this cavern.

Well, the radiation drone

gave us a general area
where we might find somethin

Then, the gravitometer
indicated several points

where we might be able
to get into this cave system

But these readings
are still not accurate enoug

to pinpoint a drilling location.

I'm confident, though, that,

you know, with a few more tests,

we might be able to say,
"X marks the spot."

It's got, like,

Your first thought is,

was this a little place
where somebody camped?

But, it doesn't look like
a very good camp spot to me.

um, and so, the way
the rocks are formed, it could

form sort of a, um,

almost like a furnace.

Obviously, you can see
the smoke stain there

- You can see the outline

- of what may have been a kiln right here.

This looks like
it was patched with adobe,

and it was probably,
at one point,

a lot more extensive than this.

Like, deeper, or bigger,
or something like that?

It was probably built up.
You make a kiln sort of

- shaped like, almost like a beehive.

- And you give it the right venting.
- Yeah.

- And so, you create, sort of, a blast furnace there.
- Gotcha.

[Eric] Smelters were used
in Utah in the 1870s,

for smelting gold, silver,
and zinc.

They were blast furnaces

that looked like giant beehi
adobe structures.

Maybe this was a smaller
operation with smaller ovens.

Or, maybe this site here
is considerably older.

I just don't know.

[Chad] Well, do you think
that they could have

smelted the gallium here?

[Eric] Well, if this
is a smelter,

which I think it was
at one point,

in these instances,
you want to smelt the material

as close to the source
as possible.

So the mine could be
super-close to here, right?

Yeah. I mean,
the mine entrance could be

- anywhere in here, or the cave entrance.

In fact, the spot where
your dad and I

were using
the gravity meter today

is just over that ridge.

some anomalies over there

with the gravity meter, and so,

We're right
in the right zone, here.

any kind of ore,

and in this case, smelting it,

you want to have that smelte
located as close as possibl

to the cave or mine entrance

for obvious reasons
of efficiency.

There's just no reason
why you'd want to carry

that material
any extra distance.

So, we might just be near
a mine or cave entrance,

where they were
pulling out material

that they were smelting.

Normally, with cave entrances,

or if there's something
valuable underground,

- you're not going to want to leave it open.

Sometimes, they'll put wood,
like logs, over it,

and then fill it with dirt.

a big metallic object,

We're also not that far away
from the spot

where Duane and I got a hit
on the gravity meter.

- Is there an anomaly here?

large and metallic underground?

So, last night, Chad and Eric

found a bunch of old smelter
way back on the property...

that there could be

a mine shaft or an old caver
somewhere close.

Well, Eric used radiation
and a gravity test

to find out where there
might be a cavern.

He wants to do a few more tests

to pinpoint the exact location.

You know, when you get
to my age,

patience is really not
a virtue, anymore.

The feeling in my gut's
telling me

that Eric's
narrowed it down enough,

and I want to get
this show on the road.

So I pulled the trigger, and
brought in another rat hole rig.

The spot we're looking to drill

is a real remote spot
on the ranch.

You know, we've never
had equipment like this

out on this location.

This is not gonna be easy,
but nothing's easy

when you're doing
what we're doing.

I mean, I get up this morning,

and my dad's got a freaking.

The rat hole rig,
rolling down the mountain.

I know my dad's been patien

but to be honest,
I think it's a waste of mone

Me and Eric found the smelters

where all the bats
and everything were,

so I think we need
to go back over there,

and look for more of, like,
a natural entrance.

And I know Eric has more tes
he wants to run

to pinpoint
the exact drilling spot.

We're all trying
to figure this out,

and there's a lot of cooks
in the kitchen right now.

get down to that cave.

Duane's hell-bent on gettin

but, to be honest,
I think he's jumping the gun

At this point,
I only have a rough idea

of where this cave could be

it's somewhere right in here,

but if we're off

we're not gonna find it.

[Eric] I'm checking samples
as we drill,

to test for calcite
and limestone.

This is hydrochloric.

That's what we found when
we drilled on top of the box,

so if we drill here
and find the same thing,

hopefully, we find the cave.

It's not reactive to acid,
so it's not calcareous.

It's basically windblown sand,
is what it is.

So far, I'm not seeing
any of that stuff here.

The past couple of weeks
has been pretty wild here.

We've had trespassers,

spy cams,

helicopters,

and equipment ransacked.

This has got to be it.

So I came out to talk to this guy who I
heard use to work at Skinwalker Ranch

Which isn't very far
from Blind Frog.

But he agreed that, if I blurred
his face and hid his identity,

you wanna know?

[Jamie] A contact of mine told me
that you worked at Skinwalker Ranch.

[Man] For about 6 years.

[Jamie] Have you ever heard
of Blind Frog Ranch?

[Man] I'm aware.

[Jamie] So, the thing is,
we've been having some issues.

Seems like someone's
keeping tabs on the ranch.

We have choppers flying over

Cameras.

Vandalism.

Ever experienced
anything like that?

That's a kind of
a funny question.

We were being watched
the whole time.

[Jamie] By who?

[Man] No idea.

See, I used to be, uh,
military intelligence.

Skinwalker brought me
in to look into

what they called the "Gravity
Anomaly" on the property.

Specifically, how it affected
computers and machinery.

Then they, uh, started
having us go look at, uh...

well, off-site. We were basically ordered
to sneak onto neighboring properties.

Trespassing and, uh,
do some tests there.

go to Blind Frog?

I mean, we went a lot

You know, what started happening
was then sometimes we'd go somewhere,

when I'd come back, someone
had broken into my trailer.

Gone through my files, taken
stuff, just thrown [bleep] all around.

And then the debriefs
started getting weirder.

[Man] Well, instead of asking me
about the actual tests I had done,

or data I'd collected,

they were asking about
my experience.

Physiological reactions, they were
taking my blood, doing EKGs, CAT scans.

Who are they?

[Man] It wasn't
the owner of the ranch.

It was some other
group responsible.

But someone is very, very
interested in this area.

You know, probably
your ranch, too.

[Eric] As Stefan
will do his survey,

- if he hits an anomaly, he'll see a big spike.

[Eric] We're using the aeria drone
with the radiation detector on it.

We were able to narrow our search
field from about a thousand acres

to ten acres.

We're using a gravitometer,
we went from about ten acre

down to about the size
of a football field.

So, what we need to do now is
narrow the area down even farther.

And, uh, the magnetometer's
gonna help us do that.

So, yeah, Stefan,

we wanna scan this area in
about 50 meters in each direction.

See if you just get
any anomalies.

I mean, we were, we were
working the bottom of the wash

and so, maybe, kinda
focus on that.

So, this easier magnetomete is
capable of detecting magnetic anomalies

under the surface of the ground.

Which can be caught either
by a void in the ground.

Like a cave or a large
concentration of metal.

Like a big old box full of gold.

But any hit we get means
we're right on top of whatever it is.

That's pretty flat.

Not much going on in there.

magnetometer can't tell us

is exactly how deep below
surface that object is.

If it's down there 250 feet or more,
we can't get down there with a drill.

to find out what the exact depth is.

And if it's reachable...

ago, me and Eric were out he

and found a couple
of old smelters

and a bunch of bats that flew
out of the hillside right over there.

So there has to be some kind of
cave or mine, something around here.

I just have to find it.

I mean, cause we saw the bats
right in that area.

thing is, um,

we checked it with the Geiger counter
and we had radiation emitting from the bat.

- [Eric] Those sores are indicative

of a long-term exposure
to radiation.

[Eric] So, presumably it came from an entrance
to that cave where we found radiation.

on this deal, what you wanna do?

out of a natural cave.

If we just get some guys around
and we all search that whole area,

we can find this entrance.

Instead of just wasting
more and more days,

we can do this, we can do
this tomorrow and have it done.

That bat, yeah, it may have
come out of a natural entrance,

but bats fly. And so, you know,
where the hell is the entrance?

[Chad] We saw that whole, the
whole flock of bats right there.

is where we found the bat,
yeah, but it's also the place where

that gravity meter survey
gave us an area of about that.

And then we did
the magnetometer survey,

it narrowed it down
right on a spot.

Right there.

I don't know now is the depth

and I need to know if
it's reachable with a drill.

And that's what I'm hoping the
seismic refraction survey will give us.

I'm just sayin' if we get a bunch of
guys out there, no more money spent

we just find it and that's it.

the base in here for research.

The advanced aerospace threat
identification program, AATIP,

right here in this valley.

that may add up to a big one.

We know we've got a great, big
opening that we're right on top of.

We just don't know if it's
accessible because of its depth.

Our final step is to bring in
a seismic survey.

somewhere and then just play out the...

So, what we're gonna do is we're
gonna lay out a number of geo-foams.

In a straight line, right in the area
where we have that magnetic anomaly.

We'll then set off a small charge
which will simulate seismic waves.

-As these waves pass throug
the rock, -[waves beeping]

the system will record
their speeds.

This data is then fed into a
seismic refraction software.

It'll tell us exactly what's
down there and how deep.

- Yeah, yeah.
- So these are the geo-foams that pick up--

Oh, so these are the geo-foams.
That's correct. Good deal.

- [Duane] And this is where we'll set off the charge.

- Yep. Now we can dig the hole.
- Okay.

So now, we gotta set
everything up.

So whenever you set that charge
off, it's gonna give us a echo,

- and give us a read out there.
- Yeah, it could show us exactly where it is.

And I understand his

But Eric says this is the last testing he needs
to do to find out if there's a dry cavern.

What you do is put that

You just take the data
and you run it through a...

It's called
a dispersion program,

where you see
how the energy moves out.

And then, I take those data and put
them into a modelling program that

takes that seismic energy and
determines what kind of layering

with depth you get.

[Duane] So, what are we talking?
Maybe two hours or something like that?

- Okay.

Not to get too into the weeds
here, but, this is called a dispersion.

This whole method measures
this...

energy that goes along the
ground, this way, the surface ways.

Which only works through solids.

If you get into air,
it usually doesn't work.

So, the density change
is great from here to here.

And so, this is probably
the upper stuff that, uh,

you were digging a hole into,
and...

But then, at eight feet,

these velocities,
maybe 1105 per second,

if that is the pressure wave velocity,
that's right on the money with air.

- Oh, really?
- You're saying air?

As in air in a cave.

[Duane] That's what
we wanna hear, you know?

So what you're telling me right now is
you think we have a target or a void?

- Could be, yes.
- Okay.

And we can mark that spot where
we can drop down and not miss it by?

I wouldn't think you'd miss it if
these caves are of any size at all.

- That's good news.

According to that line, if that's
what we're seeing, we're on top of it.

We have the exact spot.

It took a bunch of tests
to get to this point.

But the seismic, the last test we did,
showed that we have a big ol' entrance

to a cave at about
80 foot below surface.

So we know exactly where
to drill now.

That, that's perfect.
This is good.

Hell, yeah.

This is, I think the best news
we've had so far.

- This technique is valid, and...
- It's pretty big, yeah.

[Duane] We were not just spinning
our wheels here. We know exactly

where to put that rig
and punch in.

Hopefully, into that void.

When we looked at the results
that Brett showed us in the cavern,

and it looks like there is
a void under there.

We're gonna bring in the
rat hole rig, and we're gonna

drill a hole and get in there.
