I'm really disappointed in the school. We were celebrating Earth Day every day

of the week.

on a new project where we take old trash bags and turn them into like

bags, like purses and stuff like that.

I've always seen, like, the reused purses and shirts and stuff. It's always

really cute.

underneath and you can tuck away.

Yeah, upcycling is basically where we take items that no longer have use and

turn it into something new and exciting.

Like some old barn doors. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, you know, and we also have some other cool things up here, like

at these.

What is that?

So we actually did this at the farmer's market.

We found someone who uses recycled materials to create other items.

Now is that a, like a potter's type of thing, or what is that?

Yes. We wanted to take a pottery class so we could learn how to do that

ourselves.

But we just wanted to support some local artists.

And look at these.

These are so beautiful and artistic. Oh my gosh. Those are amazing.

Yeah, we support... You guys are just too much.

You are all about it. We're all about supporting our local community.

Yeah. And trying to make the earth greener.

You know what? More people need to do their part.

They really should.

And it's crazy just all the ways and all the stuff people don't think about.

Oh, yeah, I must have mentioned that plants are natural air purifiers.

Yeah, they look like they just kind of like, you know, take the dust particles

out of the air.

That's essentially what they do.

We just love giving back to the community and helping support people

Yeah. I knew the school was working on something, but I didn't know exactly

it was. But they ended up finding them, huh?

They did. Yeah, we persuaded them to join us and be able to get us these

of outfits.

Yeah, these were very nice. I mean, I love the colors and everything.

Yeah, I'm happy that we can be, you know, economical and fashionable.

Uh -huh. Yeah, absolutely.

Exactly. You know, it's a win -win situation for everybody.

Yeah. You know, 27 ,000 trees are cut down every single year.

But you can actually reuse them six times.

Yeah, you can reuse the wood up to six times. Really? Because of the byproduct?

Yeah. Yeah, after it's been used six times, the fibers in the tree are no

usable. But I would say, yeah, you get a lot of use out of, you know.

Recycling trees, yeah.

Wow. That's good. You know, they always say recycle.

Exactly. But with the, you know, with the trees and the wood and everything.

That's crazy. That's an interesting fun fact for sure.

Did you know Earth Day was established in the 70s?

Really? Uh -huh. It's been around that long, huh? Yeah. It actually became

popular. in the 90s. Yeah, that's when it became globally recognized. So every

country now, for the most part, celebrates it Thursday.

Really? Mm -hmm. And now, do you have any idea how it went global?

Um, I'm not entirely sure.

Yeah, so, um, basically the government, they recognized it. Oh, yeah.

But, um, yeah, now everybody celebrates it. Everybody should know about it. Uh

-huh. Yeah. And do, are other countries now, are they, Taking it pretty serious

and kind of celebrating it? Yeah, they are.

And, well, another fun fact, Earth Day is actually called International Mother

Earth Day by other countries.

Earth Day was actually designed for college students just because of the way

that the dates align.

So obviously it's on April 22nd. Right. So that's between spring break and

finals. Right. So they made Earth Day that day so college students would be

motivated to, you know, participate in economical activities.

And it definitely helps when you give us extra credit. Yeah, exactly.

So it gets funny that, yeah, exactly.

That makes perfect sense.

Hopefully, why not?

Yeah. I love birthdays.

Me too. I do too. It's been really fun over the past few years, especially the

That's why I'm huge into recycling glass products. That makes sense. Because I

love being able to use electricity without having to get all the other

stuff with chemicals.

I don't even know what gases they use.

Yeah, right. But there's so many, like, byproducts and other things.

Uh -huh. But glass is such a clean energy product.
