[Tim] Like that little puppy? A Great Pyrenees?

[Emma] Pyrenees? That's a funny name. Let's call this one Phem.

[Tim] He's getting to know his siblings by sniffing them.

Soon, they're gonna act like one big family.

[sniffing]

[Emma] He thinks the kitten is his sister.

[Tim] But that cat's never gonna hurt a sheep like Phem.

[playful music]

[sheep bleating]

[cow moos]

[Emma] Hurry, Phem, this kitten's a fast one.

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[bleating]

[playful music]

[Emma] Silly puppy, that's not an ice cream cone.

[light music]

[whimpers]

[Tim] And lunch is served.

[Emma] What about Phem?

[whines]

[Emma and Tim sigh in relief]

[puppies whimpering]

[slurping]

[snoring sounds]

[Emma] Hey, what kind of barn animal uses a rake?

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[puppy barks]

[Emma] Why is he all alone now?

[Tim] He is two months old.

He can already do it all on his own.

See them? That's his new herd.

[Emma] Yeah, I know. They're sniffing each other to say hello.

[Tim] Phem has to accepted by his new family.

[whimpers]

[Emma] Hey, I think that's enough snuggling for now.

[bleating]

[Tim] Whew! Finally.

[Emma] If I were him, I'd be annoyed by all those flies.

[train engine rumbling]

[sheep bleating]

[Emma] Hey, that's Phem!

I'd recognize that goofy dog anywhere.

[Tim] Except now he's a grown-up. He is protecting his herd.

-[Emma] Yay! Vacation time! -[Tim chuckles]

[Tim] Yup. In the summer, the sheep get to eat fresh grass

way up in the mountains!

[dreamy music]

[Emma] Whoa. That's a lot of sheep to take care of.

[Tim] That's the perfect spot to take a break.

[lively music]

[Emma] Are they having a rolling contest?

[Tim] No. [laughing]

Phem's just so used to living with them, he's acting like them, too.

[Emma] He thinks he's a sheep?

[Tim] Kinda.

[lively music]

[Tim] Tonight, he'll sleep under the stars.

[snoring]

[sheep bleat]

[suspenseful music]

[sniffs]

[Tim] Huh? Emma, I think Phem sees something.

[Emma] Huh! Me too. I saw a shadow.

[Phem barks]

[suspenseful music]

[barking]

[heavy thuds]

[barking]

[barking continues]

[victorious music]

[Tim] You tell that bear, Phem. No one messes with our herd!

[Emma] Why aren't they all thanking him?

[Tim] Because it's his job to protect them.

And he's happy to do it.

[Emma] Have fun with your new family, Phem.

[Phem barks]

[calm music]

[Emma] If I were an animal, I'd wanna be a fox.

[Tim] Look, Emma, this fox wants to show us something.

[Emma and Tim] Aww.

[cooing]

[Emma] Look at all her cute babies.

I'm gonna call this one Elliot.

He sure is curious.

-[Emma] Oops. -[pups cooing]

[pups mewling]

[Emma] Looks like one little fall won't stop him.

[whimpering]

[Tim] Oh, yeah. But their mom's always one step ahead.

[Emma] There you go, Elliot. It's drinkies time.

[Tim] Look, Emma. Elliot can't sit still. Must be trying to get comfy.

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[sloshing]

[Emma] Wow, Tim! Look how different they are!

[Tim] Yeah. Now that they're one month old,

they're starting to get their adult colors.

[purrs]

[Emma] But they still need their naps though.

[Emma chuckles] Except for Elliot.

[playful music]

[Tim] It's his first outing. Everything must be exciting to him.

[howls]

[whimpering]

[Tim] I think his siblings are too scared to explore.

[Emma] Looks like Elliot got frightened, too.

[pups whimpering]

[Tim] Everything's better when their mom's around.

The fox pups always feel safe with her.

[calm music]

[thunder crashing]

[rustling]

[whimpers]

[whines]

[Tim] Do you see that?

Elliot is warning his family about the thunderstorm.

[calm music]

[crow cawing]

[wings fluttering]

[Emma] Is that crow their babysitter?

[Tim] No. But I can tell he's up to something sneaky.

[playful music]

[Tim] Here comes trouble.

[Emma] Hey! That's not fair! He isn't one of the babies.

If I were a fox, I'd tell that crow, "Nuh-uh!"

[rustles]

[boings]

[Emma] Now you see me, now you don't.

[Tim] Elliot is four months old now, so he's hunting for himself.

[Emma] You wanna eat a hedgehog? Careful.

He's spiky.

[Tim laughing] Don't worry, he's just curious.

[playful music]

[Emma] Uh-oh, that sneaky crow is back.

[cawing]

Careful, Elliot.

[sneaky music]

[chirping]

[crow cawing]

[Emma] Look, one of the crows is hurt.

-[Tim] He's just pretending. -[Emma] Why?

[Tim] He's hoping that Elliot will get distracted and follow him.

[Emma] He's got some nerve.

[Tim] It was all part of his plan to get a quick meal.

[Emma] And now those greedy crows are fighting over it.

Yeah. But like all kids, Elliot learns by making mistakes.

[calm music]

Better luck next time, Elliot. [Emma chuckles]

[tranquil music]

[upbeat music]

[Tim] If I were an animal, I'd be a butterfly!

[Emma] And I'd be a dragonfly. Just like this one.

Let's call it Lilil.

It's so pretty, look at it fly.

[Tim] It didn't always look like that.

Look. This is the dragonfly before its transformation.

-[Emma] That's Lilil? -[Tim] Yup.

When it was an aquatic larva.

[Emma] So, it swims before it flies?

[Tim] Yup.

[calm music]

[Tim] See that? It's using all of its energy to transform.

[Emma] It's like its taking off its coat.

[Tim] Yeah. But this dragonfly won't be wearing that coat again.

[dreamy music]

[Emma] It's finally free.

[Tim] I wouldn't wanna hang upside down all day.

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[sloshing]

[fluttering]

[Emma] It's beautiful.

[birds chirping]

[Emma] But I wanna see it fly.

[Tim] Be patient, Emma.

The wings need to dry first.

[Emma] I don't remember it raining.

[Tim] No. It's just the morning dew.

[rustling]

[blissful music]

[Emma] Look, its first liftoff!

Reach for the sky, Lilil!

[squealing]

[Emma] Oh, Tim. Look at the caterpillar with all the spots on it.

I'm gonna call it Paula.

[Tim] Do you see that other one?

[Emma] Yeah, it's super green.

Let's call that one Nico.

[Tim] They have lots of legs to help them grip and crawl up those stems.

[Emma] And they sure look hungry.

[Tim] They have to stay well-fed for their metamorphosis.

[Emma] Meta-what-sis?

[Tim] It's like when superheroes transform.

[playful music]

[Emma] Oops!

[playful music]

[Emma] Where are you going, Paula?

That's got to tickle.

[Tim] It's looking for a plant to match its colors.

-[Emma] Huh? -[Tim] To blend in with its surroundings.

[Emma] Is the caterpillar going to sleep?

[Tim] Not yet.

First, it's got to anchor a thread of silk.

And then it will start making its chrysalis.

[Emma] Oh, I get it.

It's gonna transform into a butterfly.

[Tim] Yup, exactly.

[rustles]

[tinkles]

[Tim gasps] Look at that.

[Tim] They're getting ready to show us their new wings.

[Emma] This one looks like it's coming out of a sleeping bag.

[Tim] So does this one.

[Emma] Hello there.

[playful music]

[Tim] System's ready. Antennas, check.

Wings, check.

We have lift off!

[Emma] Wow!

If I were a butterfly, I'd be proud of myself for flying on my first try.

[happy music]

[Tim] Metamorphosis takes a lot of energy. These butterflies need to refuel.

[Emma] This one looks like it's drinking out of a straw.

[Tim] That's cool, isn't it?

This butterfly drinks while it's flying,

but the other butterfly drinks while it's sitting down.

[Emma] Now they're ready to explore.

[Tim] Have a great time, guys.

[Emma] Bye, Paul. Bye, Nico.

[calm music]

[Emma] If I were an animal, I'd wanna be a cheetah in the African Savanna.

But why does the momma cheetah carry her babies like that, Tim?

[kittens meowing]

[Tim] Kittens have extra skin on the back of their neck

so their mom can grab them when she needs to.

[Emma] That doesn't look comfy at all.

Let's call this guy Charlie.

-Looks like milk for breakfast. -[Tim] That's right.

Like all mammals, cheetahs drink their mom's milk when they're babies.

[Emma] But what about when they grow up?

[Tim] She teaches them to hunt.

Lesson number one, locate the target.

[Emma] Well spotted, Charlie.

Lesson two, catch the target.

[whooshing]

[Emma] Wow! That was quick!

[Tim] Cheetahs are the fastest mammal on the planet.

[meows]

[Emma] Dinner time, kids.

Hey, no birds allowed. Go away.

[Tim] That's just how it works in the Savanna. There's vultures.

[Emma] Hmm. If I were a cheetah, I'd chase them all away.

The most important part was the hunting lesson which was a success.

[raindrops pattering]

[Tim] Look, Charlie's hiding.

[Emma] He knew it was gonna rain.

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[Tim laughing] They're soaking wet.

[playful music]

[Emma chuckles] With all this teamwork,

mom's gonna be spotless.

Time for a swim.

[splashing]

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[Emma] I guess not all kitties hate water after all.

[whistle blows]

[gunfire]

[Emma] Momma's teaching them more hunting skills today.

[Tim] That's right. Lesson number three, mom's the fastest.

[Emma] They sure got a lot of energy.

[Tim] Which they use practicing how to attack and defend themselves.

Looks like they're just playing though.

[Emma] I think they've earned a nice rest.

[Emma and Tim laughing]

[calm music]

[Emma] Wow! Charlie and his brothers look so focused.

[Tim] Shh!

[sneaky music]

[thudding]

[Tim] Oh, well. Better luck next time.

[comical music]

[elephant trumpets]

[Emma] Charlie seems a little scared.

[Tim] That's because the elephants are so much bigger than him.

And there's so many of them.

But he's safe here.

[elephant trumpets]

[Emma] Tim, are those the toilets?

[Tim] Kinda. They do those to mark their territory.

[calm music]

Looks like everyone is ready for a snuggly sleep.

[Tim laughing]
