We were going to do 9 ,000 ounces this
year. Half of that was supposed to come

out of the Indian River.

The money invested there is huge.

We had seven cuts there, strips, ready
to go. So we probably give or take $10

million of land to be picked up. Four or
five thousand ounces. Sure.

For two long years, Klondike kingpin
Tony Beats has been trying to unlock his

gold -rich ground on Indian River.

It all kicked off with shocking news in
2019.

We don't have a water license.

We have to leave.

Denied a water permit, he tried the
following year.

Worked. Sucks.

Now we're right back to square one.

After two failures, he applied again
this year, wanted to be correct once

No, no license.

This season is pretty well down the
tube.

In a major pivot, Paradise Hill has
become Tony's main earner.

In a bid to hit the elusive 4 ,500
ounces, Tony's running 350 yards an hour

white channel pay through Mike's
trommel.

We've had a relatively successful
season, but I'm disappointed that we

get into the Indian and reach that 9
,000 ounce gold.

But the king hasn't given up on his
prized Indian river yet.

Yep. Come on, Tony.

Tony's hired an expert to advise on a
new application.

We took soil samples. We did a small
vegetation inventory.

I'm completely encouraged by what we
saw. I have 95 % confidence that this

license is good and will be issued.

That would be awesome because there is a
lot of money at stake.

After three long years, Tony now
believes that a new license is imminent

in no mood to waste any more time.

If we do get a license in the Indian
River, we're going to have to get this

trommel up and rolling because we've got
a pretty late start.

I've got the 50 -ton train coming up, so
we're going to lift this thing up and

put it on the truncheon.

It would be nice to get this trommel
finished so we can put it out in the

River.

To be ready to sluice the Indian River
claims, Tony's breaking out the 40 -foot

BC trommel.

Because every time we've got something

didn't have any traction anymore.

And then I had a look under it and the
oil came out of it. So now there's a

crack from one side to the other side of
the air box.

So it's used completely.

The 20 degree hill is the worst possible
place to break down.

As the crane and Kenworth truck combined
weigh just shy of 100 tons.

looking better, but we've already blown

the budget out the window.

Hopefully the gold continues.

With just four weeks left of the season,
27 -year -old Parker Snavel has finally

found gold at Mud Mountain.

His team are now in a race to cash in
before season's end.

Trying to get this stuff ready.

As we've been working our way through
Bud Mountain, the gold's been getting

better.

It looks like this downstream end of it,
just the last piece that we stripped,

seems to have the best gold.

I probably should know better than
trying to rest most of your season on

pot, but who knows?

Maybe it's there, maybe it's not.

With so much at risk, Parker needs a
steady earner.

And he has it in the form of rookie
plant boss Tyson Lee, who's running

land ground four miles away.

This time of year, we're making a huge
push to grab every ounce of gold that we

can.

That kind of stirs Tyson still plugging
away. It's going fast, you know, the

back cut.

I think Jen's a little off on the naming
of his cut.

It's a good cut.

did not do so good.

The bad cut is doing better than the
good cut.

And the ugly cut, I don't know, you
never know until it's in the jar.

Sluiceper is going to be done in the bad
cut and looking to move to the ugly,

and the ugly is far from ready. So
there's a lot of work to do, a lot of

move.

You know, this year we've been stretched
thinner than any other year.

And that's because of Mud Mountain and
it being 60 feet deep.

The ugly cut is almost double the size
of the bad cut.

With winter fast approaching, Tyson will
have to double his production rate.

So, he's come up with a radical new
plan, as long as Parker agrees.

You know, normally we have the wash
plant pad height being the same height

would normally sit.

I want to kind of stick it out here so
the fines can travel around.

The only comment I would have is if you
were going to have undermining issues,

but if you've got lots of nice big
coarse bedrock, then...

stay as self -sufficient as possible is

best thing for us because we're spread
so thin, as you well know.

And I'm thinking if things work out the
way I think it will, we should be able

to get away with three guys on days and
two on nights down there.

That'll free up another guy to be in a
truck. I'm not going to say you're on

your own down there, but act like you
are until you really need help.

In a normal setup, tailings from the
wash plant build up, meaning the crew

to continually clear them.

Python's plan is to use 40 ,000 tons of
material to build a mega pad, allowing

the fine tailings to fall away from the
plant, saving on time and crew.

Normally it takes us about a week.

started yesterday.

Well, the pressure's on.

And now we're at the point where we can
get this. Holy, this thing has some

gremlins in it.

My other hose down because it's doing a

So the beginning of the season went
really well. I was thinking we were

a stride. The last couple weeks have
been nothing but a disaster.

At California Creek, Special Forces
medic Fred Lewis has mined just half his

-ounce season goal.

We're not even coming close to hitting
our low -end goal at this point if this

continues, and Sandra and Jorg are
definitely not happy with what we're

in.

Fred needs to find a way to ramp up his
goal production.

People winter aligned.

Right now we're kind of, we've got to
figure out how to get ourselves where

we're at.

As hard as we've been pushing this
season, it's been a struggle.

We've really outgrown our equipment. We
are pushing everything to the max every

day, including ourselves.

Now Fred's landlords, Jorg Lott and
Sandro Fritzi, have arrived to check if

is hitting his pre -agreed targets.

To come to the point, in order to come
back next year, you need bigger

now, this fall, not next year.

With only two small excavators, Fred's

A bigger dozer could move dirt three

material through our plant and giving
them a lot more gold in the end. So they

want better. And if we want to stay
here, we want this to be our home for

next four or five seasons, we're going
to have to perform, we're going to have

to find bigger equipment, and we're
going to have to do what they want.

an ultimatum on me.

to step up my production a little more.

That would entail me finding larger
equipment, and I'm not finding anything

put an ultimatum on me. Where they're

like, we need more from you if you're
going to stay here.

where our equipment's just scraping

away. We're putting like 250, 250 yards
through the plant a day. So if we had a

dozer, obviously a dozer would solve 99
% of our problem.

Fred, I really wish I could help.

I'm stressed right now as it is trying
to run just a day shift. Like I'm

900 on one shift with this trauma right
now.

And we're at the point where we're
struggling as well to try and get it up

enough to make a full day, right? Right.

I'm short a hole right now. I need one
with the plant.

I need one stripping.

Maybe if I can use another hole, like
one of yours, and then I can give you my

dozer. Yeah, I think that's something we
can work on.

Maybe there's a way we can work
together.

If we could somehow figure a way where I
could get used to some of your bigger

equipment over here, I think there may
be a kind of a middle ground we can come

up with where we just consolidate our
equipment to where it helps us both.

you think about it. I mean, I'm only
running 12 hours a day, and we're

to the time when it's starting to

to, to keep my plant going and not

freezing overnight.

We can't run two plants at once. That's
the only issue. I would be willing to

pull that plant completely, put it on
reserve up there, and run your plant.

And we'll pull from my area, your area,
just get dirt around this season.

And we could just split the goal 50 -50.

Give me the courtesy of running it by

my guys, see what they think, and then
we'll just move from there.

The partnership could allow the pair to
sluice three times as much pay dirt.

If the Clayton's massive trommel can run
24 -7, it'll get Fred one step closer

to hitting Sandro and York's goal.

But only if Fred's crew agree.

It boils down to numbers. If we combine
forces, like really partnered with

Brandon and started pulling our pay over
to his plant, we're going to be able to

put up to 1 ,800 yards a day through his
plant.

And we're putting 300 through ours.

The only downside that I see is their
equipment's down, like, all the time.

That would be my concern.

You know, they break down, too.

The other risk is we end up hating each
other.

I mean, what kind of season do we want?

That's the question. Do we want to
scrape by and pull 100 ounces and hope

Sandra and Jorg see that as our best?

Or do we want to prove to them if we had
bigger equipment, Brandon, this is the

difference. I don't want to go home
saying, yeah, we scraped it by.

I want to go home with our heads held
high in a pocketful.

You know, it's a little bit risky, but I
really think this could save our

season, guys.

As long as we're running pay.

and pulling gold, then we're good. I

load of grizzly tailings.

The plant pad is done. We can drag
sluicifer over here and start on the

Ison's banking on the elevated pad to
accelerate his production rate.

But first he must move Lucifer up the
steepest ramp he's ever built.

Right now we're just hooking up the
cables and we're going to drag Lucifer

to the wash plant pad we built. It's
looking pretty good over there.

Just got to get her up there safely.

The 700 was having issues and...

Alex figures it's electrical so we're
gonna have to make it work with the 480.

You know this is kind of like trying to
move a dump truck with a two -door

sedan.

It would be nice to have the 700 to move
this thing because right now I'm

struggling to pull it and 700 would just
move it like none other.

I think

where we're going to really struggle is
going to be pulling it up the pot and

getting it stirred.

It'll be interesting to see how Tyson
gets the plant up here and swings it

around. They'll definitely be on the
sides of it. And that's a dirt

slump, so that's about as steep as it's
going to get.

Well, it's going to be a foot at a time.

Now as you can tell the 480 is really
struggling to pull this thing up.

Got to get her to the top of this hill

This 480 is not liking this kind of a

I wonder how much you trust those

Because if he's loaded up like that and

that's quite a drop there.

You know, we got Lucifer in place,

You know, I'm actually really, really
excited it's happening.

Whereas right now we'd be able to eke
out 100 ounces, we're going to probably

triple that and come out with like 300.
So hopefully we'll be able to, you know,

make us all a little bit of money, a
little bit of gold.

At California Creek, Fred Lewis has shut
down his wash plant and teamed up with

neighbor Brandon Clayton.

And decommissioning Mount Paisuvius. We
are moving our pay pile, what's left of

it, over to Brandon's plant.

He's put the D9 dozer to work ripping
pay in hope of running at least 9 ,000

yards a week through Brandon's wash
plant.

The mission team is still pretty green
at morning, so I'm just double -checking

our cuts, making sure that we're not too
deep.

We're taking enough.

and we're not leaving anything behind.

You guys asked us to kind of step it up
as far as production goes.

Bigger equipment, right? Yeah, so I met

So we decided to go at it together.

I hope this will work out. You know,
before we had two mining operations and

it's one mining operation.

It's a little risky for both of us. But
I think if we work together and

communicate, I think you guys will see a
huge production increase from this.

Because obviously he's got the bigger
capacity.

But with our small equipment and with
our extra guys, we can help his plant

24 hours a day.

and get that high yardage and shoot for
1 ,800 yards a day.

We will see. You have to prove yourself
in a few days.

I felt like Brandon and I made a great
decision, and I thought that it was the

best possible choice for us going
forward, but now it just seems a lot

risk. It seems like Sandro and Jorg are
really going to expect big numbers.

last resort if we're going to be able to

really pull the season off. We'll finish
the season, but I don't want to limp

through the finish line.
