(bright music)

(Stephanie): My sister once said, "There are two clocks in this world,

the rest of the world's clock and...

(sighs, chuckles)

...Stephanie time."

(panting)

Stephanie time isn't so much characterized

as being late. It's more...

Oh!

...about unexpected events

throwing me off by a few minutes here and there.

(panting)

A few minutes can be the difference between bumping

into that special someone...

or missing them forever.

A few minutes can lead to constant heartbreak.

(โ™ชโ™ช)

I didn't want heartbreak.

So I decided to avoid it by not looking

for a relationship at all.

But this was the week that everything changed.

(phone chimes)

Okay, maybe Stephanie time is

a little bit about being late.

Shoot, I'm late!

So, well, maybe not everything changed.

Our client, Clear & Gentle,

is looking for a fun cross-channel campaign

for their new product Clear & Gentle Laundry Pods.

They're looking for something fresh, like the pods,

that can connect with existing customers

but also bring new ones into the fold.

Now, when I think fresh, I think of...

a recently trimmed and watered golf course.

A warm breeze blows by.

And there's Barry from the club, on hole number nine

in his cute little khakis, putting for birdie.

Anyway. Does anyone have any ideas?

- Oh, I--! - Ah! Dan!

Love that hand raise.

Okay. I'm a dad.

I do my family's laundry.

How about a campaign called Fantastic Fathers

centred around dads doing laundry?

- Dan, that is... And I don't say this lightly,

the most brilliant idea I've ever heard. So fresh!

(applause)

(โ™ชโ™ช)

- And that covers the rehearsal dinner.

Now for a minute by minute walk-through

of the entire weekend.

(Stephanie): My sister Angela

has always been a real go-getter.

Mmm?

One for you, one for you.

- Itinerary for you. - Thank you.

Here you are.

Morning of the wedding, 6:12 AM.

Ah, so not 6:11? Or 6:13?

(laughing)

Hilarious.

(clears throat)

Carly and I wake up for makeup.

That rhymes.

(laughing)

- Nice. 7:30 AM, we will be-- - Okay, honey...

You are doing a fantastic job of organizing this wedding.

And I think everyone knows when and where they need

to be every second of the entire weekend.

Right, everyone?

Are you sure?

Yes, Ang. We're good.

- Okay. Well, you're all dismissed.

Okay. Let's go.

- Except for you, maid of honour.

Want to go over the decor plan one more time?

Great!

(sighs)

- I can't believe we're only on draft 30.

It feels like yesterday we were on draft 14 and a half.

(laughing)

Yeah, after ten, they've all

kind of blended together for me, so...

- Thank you. I appreciate your help.

Okay, I know what this is.

Classic buttering me up. Give me the edits.

I'll start on draft 30 and a half. Hmm?

(gasps)

Oh.

(soft music)

(sighs)

No edits.

(laughing)

Funny.

I'm serious.

Wow. Okay. Great.

Wow.

I thought you'd be happier. Steph, what's wrong?

Nothing.

I know when you're lying.

How? Is it some kind of

magical older sister power?

- No. You're just a terrible liar.

(scoffs)

Alright.

I am so happy for you and Carly.

But all of this just reminds me that

I don't have all of this.

All of what?

A perfect partner for life.

My own company. Everything.

- Hey. Everything will come in time.

I don't know.

It always just seems like I'm a minute away

from things going better for me, like...

Like I can almost reach out and grasp something more

and then it just slips through my hands.

Can I give you some advice?

Build a time machine?

No. The opposite.

Ah, so...

live in the moment.

- And I know that it's easier said than done.

Don't think about the what-ifs.

They take up too much space in your mind.

Think about what is.

And just learn to love the rhythm of your own life.

When did you become so Zen?

Me?

(chuckling)

Carly's been making me meditate.

(laughing)

(sighs)

- Why can't the rhythm of my life include hot,

single guys parading by every now and then?

Right?

Hey, Angela! There you are.

Hunter!

Hi. This is my sister, Stephanie.

- Nice to meet you. - Same.

- Hunter is our wedding landscaping architect.

- Oh. - That I am.

And I'm glad I caught you here. Um...

I don't think that the modern flower arch

over the landing is gonna turn out the way you want it to.

The inspirations that you sent,

it looks nice on paper, but in real life,

you're gonna want to go with a classic look.

Bright green leaves, white roses,

maybe even some daffodils.

That way, all the focus is gonna be on you and Carly,

and your pictures are gonna remain timeless.

- Oh, that sounds ni-- - Um, no, no.

I'm sorry, but that's all wrong.

Excuse me?

- Let's just stick with the inspiration I sent.

You sent?

Yes.

Uh, there's nothing

classic about Angela and Carly's relationship.

We want a modern flower arch with unique shapes and colours,

like a protea flower in pink

or something to celebrate a vibrant couple, right?

- Well, Angela, I had no idea that your sister was also

a landscaping architect.

Um, I'm a creative director.

I've been planning this with Angela for years.

- Well, I've been doing this for ten years.

And have been recently voted a top ten new and exciting

business to watch by Austin Landscaping Magazine, so...

- Wow! - Well that's surprising,

considering your taste seems

to be incredibly old and boring.

(scoffs)

Angela!

Let's go.

Um, uh, that's my cue.

- No, no. Angela, you need to stay.

(overlapping chatter)

- ...you two figure this out. You'll talk it out.

- No, no! - I would actually rather just--

(overlapping chatter)

- ...probably not have daffodils in the arch!

Okay...

- Proteas don't bloom until late summer or early fall

and, as you know, this wedding is in the middle of summer.

- Well, we are paying you to figure out

a solution to that problem.

- And a classic arch is classic for a reason.

It's because people love it.

It's strong, reliable, dependable....

And clichรฉ.

Listen, Angela and Carly are unicorns, okay?

When they say "I do" up there, I don't want it to be in front

of a backdrop that people have seen before.

- The base of most modern flower arches

are made of palm leaves or ferns

and they can dry out, and if they dry out,

they will look washed out, and that could jeopardize the entire aesthetic.

Well, Mr. New and Exciting,

you're gonna have to come up with a creative way

to keep them hydrated.

- A lot of people tell me I need to hire a creative director.

Oh?

- All the businesses I'm against for a growing business grant

have strong creative branding and marketing.

Well, creative branding

impacts businesses' sales as much product, so...

That doesn't sound right.

Are you gonna hire someone?

- I don't know. I haven't had a great experience

with creative directors thus far.

- Okay, yeah, I'm not in love with

the landscaping architects I've met.

Well, take my card

in case you have any more landscaping tips for me.

(scoffs)

- How long have you owned your own business?

Five years.

And you are applying

for a grant because you ran out of money?

- No, no. Since being featured in the article,

I can't keep up with the calls. I need to hire more staff.

What if I do your creative?

Are you joking?

- And you teach me how to start a business.

- You are in the same conversation I am currently in?

- Yeah, yeah. A respectful debate

of ideas by two smart artists.

So you think I'm smart?

- Well, if you agree to this deal.

(soft music)

- You know, I appreciate the offer, Stephanie, but...

I just don't think you understand my tastes.

Hmm.

For when you change your mind.

It was nice meeting you.

Same.

(bright music)

(sighs)

(phone chimes)

Huh. I'm going to be on time today.

Ugh.

Hmm.

Ah...

Oh!

Oh.

(soft music)

Huh...

Great Aunt Veronica?

(sighs)

(mystical music)

That's weird.

(phone chimes)

Oh, shoot!

Ooh!

Well, I asked Mom and Dad

and neither of them had ever heard of a Great Aunt Veronica.

That's so weird.

- You know, I always thought that if we heard from

some long-lost relative,

it'd be about something cool like...

we were heiresses to the throne

in a country we'd never heard of.

(chuckling)

Yeah.

That'd be cooler than this watch.

Aren't you late for work?

- Oh, shoot! Gotta go. Love you! Bye!

Our client, Squeakee,

is releasing a new scented duster.

There will be a few different smells,

Bora Bora, spring day, birthday cake.

The product gets rid of dust and smells great doing it.

The client's ask that we help them introduce this product

in a fun and unexpected way.

When I think of fun and unexpected scents,

I think of standing in line

at the buffet brunch at the club,

catching a whiff of some scrumptious French toast...

when Barry walks by.

His musk is so manly,

with heavy notes of aftershave.

As it mixes with the buffet, it's simply overwhelming and--

(clears throat)

Anyway,

does anyone have any fun and unexpected ideas?

Dan! Hit me with another winner.

- Why does cleaning always stink?

(applause)

Absolutely inspiring.

Simple but just...

and I'm not usually hyperbolic,

genius!

You are on an absolutely historic roll, Dan.

(Dan): Whew!

(Stephanie): Stephanie time

had cost me again.

I needed a way to force myself to be early.

But right then, something even more magical happened.

(whooshing)

- Everyone take your seats, please.

Uh...

- We can go ahead and get started.

Okay...

- Hopefully Stephanie's not late aga...

Oh. You're already here!

I guess I am.

That's fantastic.

I think so too.

Um, actually...

I don't mean to be rude, but I was thinking about

Squeakee scented dusters last night and have an idea.

Hey, Carol, shouldn't we wait

to pitch our ideas until you go through your brief?

- You should always be pitching ideas to yourself.

Working overtime, like Stephanie here. Go on.

- Cleaning doesn't have to stink.

Absolutely inspiring.

Simple, but just...

and I'm not usually hyperbolic,

genius!

Oh, don't be a sore loser, Dan!

Meeting adjourned.

Unless somebody thinks they can top that?

Alright then!

- Fantastic work, Stephanie. - Thank you.

- I'm gonna have your team run with this idea.

Print, digital, everything.

We'll fast-track it and present it to the client ASAP.

Really?

With more ideas like these,

your career has a lot of potential!

(bright music)

What?!

Argh!

- Haven't seen you shank this many shots in years.

What's up?

Ah...

I met this woman.

You're dating again?

No, no.

She's the sister of a client.

Oh.

(sighs)

She's this creative director.

Offered to help me out if I teach her

how to run her own business.

Sounds like a good deal.

I'm not taking it.

I know you.

If you're thinking about it,

your gut's telling

you to just do it.

She called my taste

old and boring.

Ouch.

(chuckling)

- This is where you pipe in and say she's wrong

because you're a good friend

and you want to make me feel better.

- I don't know anything about landscaping.

But I know that you can err on the boring...

(scoffs)

I mean, classic side,

when it comes to making decisions in your life.

Hey, it's gotten me this far.

It sure has.

But sometimes the best things

in life happen when you step

outside your comfort zone.

(sighs)

I don't know.

Do me a favour.

Imagine you're going to work with her.

Then let's hit again.

- What? - Just do it.

Okay!

(soft music)

Haha! Nice shot!

Told ya!

Yeah, yeah.

Let's go again.

(Stephanie): That's when I got an unexpected phone call.

- This is my favourite tree here.

We based a lot of the design around it.

Wow.

- It's beautiful. - Hmm.

So, why this tree?

I mean, it's such a character.

And it's perfectly placed

if people want to catch some shade after a run,

gather for a picnic with family or friends

and just cool off, even in the summer heat.

That's really nice.

- Mm-hmm.

My favourite thing about it

is that it doesn't take a lot of water.

It doesn't require a lot of hands-on care.

It's like a low-maintenance marvel.

- Huh. Are we still talking about the tree?

Meera!

(chuckles)

It's good to see you.

- This is-- - Stephanie. Nice to meet you.

- I was just telling Stephanie about the densissima folium.

Oh, beautiful, isn't it?

- Oh, the whole garden is magical.

Well, Hunter's vision

and creativity completely

transformed this place.

- I should be thanking you, Meera.

You were the first one to give me a shot

when I was just starting out.

We met at the right time.

- Timing is everything, isn't it?

- It was great seeing you again, Hunter.

- Great seeing you too. - Nice meeting you.

Take care.

Wow! So...

Do all of your clients have a crush on you?

What?

"Oh, Hunter's vision

and creativity completely transformed this place!"

No, we're just...

"Oh! Nice seeing you, Hunter!"

(chuckling)

Come on, I'm kidding. So...

What made you want to take on Meera and her garden

as your first client?

- Besides the fact that people weren't lining up

for my services at that point?

I just wanted to create a space where everyone felt welcome to...

feel the wind in their hair.

Relax, let loose,

like it was a bigger version of their own garden.

Come on. I want to show you some other things.

(chuckles)

(soft music)

Okay, so this is just a bit of an example.

We put this flower bed in about five years ago.

This was all just grass, so...

(indistinct chatter)

(โ™ชโ™ช)

(indistinct chatter)

You're a great teacher!

So, what do you think?

- It was breathtaking. But I'm a little confused.

About what?

Is this you agreeing

to work together?

- I'd say this is more of an interview.

An interview?

I think we both know that you need me as much as I need you.

And it's a little bit insulting that you would

- ask me to come here and-- - What do you think

of that logo?

Um...

I think it looks like you Googled

"muscular landscaper man" and chose the worst possible result.

Well, what I do is masculine.

I work with my hands in the dirt every day.

It's one of the most masculine things someone can do.

Okay, take it easy.

I'm just saying that you were

so warm with everyone today.

I think that empathy is the strength of your business.

This logo doesn't reflect that.

And...

if this is the first thing that people see--

- You've only met one of my clients.

Right.

(soft music)

I've gotta get to a meeting.

It was nice seeing you again, Hunter.

Good luck with your creative.

Ooh! I cannot wait to try some cake.

- You better return the favour when you get married.

- Maybe I'll throw a wedding for myself.

What? That's ridiculous.

- What's ridiculous is that single people

don't get high-quality

appliances and home goods for

free like married couples do.

I deserve a nice cast-iron skillet too.

- That's a good point. - Mm-hmm!

- What does that have to do with our cake tasting?

Oh, it's all related, sis.

Oh, here we go!

Oh. Thank you!

Thank you.

Mmm, okay.

Mmm.

Mmm, okay.

- So the chocolate is amazing. - Mm-hmm.

- Mmm, but the snickerdoodle. - Mmm.

- Oh, wow. Okay. So, this is tough.

The chocolate is to die for.

It's serviceable.

But this snickerdoodle...

This is what the guests

will be talking about and remember forever.

- Well, I hope what they'll remember about our wedding

is that our incredible and unlikely love story

was woven seamlessly throughout the magical day.

- I'm just saying that details matter

and the snickerdoodle is better than the chocolate.

- Yeah, but details don't mean anything if we forget what

we're doing this all for in the first place. Us!

You know, committing to one another for a lifetime?

I feel like sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.

- I just like the snickerdoodle! - And I like the chocolate.

I'll be right back.

Excuse me?

Is there any way we could serve both cakes?

I'll throw in some extra money.

Awesome, thank you.

(whooshing)

Thank you! Wow.

Oh! I think there's something...

I think there's something on the bottom of my plate.

- Oh? - Oh, mine too.

Huh. You don't say.

What are you up to?

Something sweet.

(chuckling)

"To my sister..."

"And my new sister..."

(chuckling)

"Here's my wedding present."

- I'm paying for you to get both cakes!

They're both delicious and you deserve not to have to choose.

- Aw, that's so incredibly thoughtful.

That is! Thank you, sis.

You're welcome. I love you.

Let's give it a try.

Mmm. So good.

- It's incredible. - Right?

(scoffs)

How did you know?

You haven't even had a piece

of your cake yet.

Um...

I just had a feeling.

Sweet feeling.

(chuckling)

The snickerdoodle.

The snickerdoodle's better.

Yeah, it's too masculine.

It's supposed to be!

I work with my hands every day

building strong, sustainable outdoor environments.

- Who are you trying to convince of what?

(sighs)

- Stephanie says that empathy should be the strength

of my business and that this logo doesn't represent that.

Wow. She gets you.

I don't know about that.

Look, it's amazing how you

stepped up for your mom and little sisters.

Where is this going?

I think you feel that

sometimes you got through it all

by being some sort of tough guy.

But that's not it.

You helped your family because you made them feel safe and loved.

- Look, I didn't ask for a psychological assessment.

I just wanted your opinion on the logo.

- If you want to grow Barnhart Landscaping,

you need to be proud of your empathy.

Wear it as a badge of honour. People love that, man.

Can I buy one of those badges?

I imagine it comes in bright colours?

Listen to Stephanie.

I don't know.

I mean, I got this far on my own.

- Yeah, but did you come this far just to come this far?

- What, did you read that under a Snapple cap?

No...

It was a chocolate bar wrapper.

- It was a chocolate bar wrapper.

(soft music)

(sighing)

(insects buzzing)

I gotta be honest,

I wasn't exactly looking forward to another interview.

Especially this early in the morning.

(sighs)

So why'd you come?

I enjoy a good apology.

I am s...

Okay, you can do it.

(laughing)

- Come on! - S... So excited to teach

you how to plant some flowers.

(sighs)

So close.

I'm sorry.

I'm not the best at taking advice.

Even if I need it.

No way! I would've pegged you

as someone who is so welcoming of criticism.

Funny.

Ready to plant some flowers?

And talk business?

Okay. We can do that.

(clears throat)

(soft music)

Safety first.

Right, so you're gonna take this, make a hole

just about four inches deep.

Okay.

Alright.

Yeah, yeah. Now pull back.

There you go.

Okay, now you're gonna want to make another hole

just about two to four inches away from the first one.

- Okay. - Good job.

Oh!

- So, what got you into creative work?

- That sounds like an interview question.

No. Really, just want to know.

(sighs)

- It's all I've ever wanted to do.

- You've never wanted to do anything else?

Nope.

Well, I wanted to be an astronaut for a minute,

but then I realized I would miss pizza too much.

Really?

I would think space pizza would

be out of this world.

(laughing)

- I've always, um, felt things so much,

ever since I was little.

- Mm-hmm.

But I struggled

communicating those feelings.

But I realized that when I was being creative, you know,

writing, painting,

making silly videos with my friends,

it helped me work through those feelings

and I was finally able to express myself.

Felt good. So... I made a habit out of it.

- Sounds like you made a career out of it.

Yeah.

Well, you must get that too.

Your art comes out in your landscaping.

- Well, actually, I look at myself more

like a carpenter for hire.

You know, my clients call me,

tell me what they want me to build, I build it.

I don't get too caught up in the artistic or the creative.

I think it's a little too self-indulgent.

- I'm sorry, you think being creative is self-indulgent?

(chuckles)

No, no.

I... I just mean that

in my line of work,

it's more about keeping

your head down and getting

the job done.

Okay...

What if one of your clients comes to you with terrible ideas?

Like, they want to plant a row of cactuses

next to a bunch of oak trees on top of a rock garden

with two statues of Satan

welcoming you into the area.

- Huh? - No one would ask for that.

- No? - No.

- Okay, well, what if they did?

Wouldn't you have to come up with a, like, creative way

to get them the spirit of what they want

without making an incredibly confusing park?

I suppose so.

- So being creative in that scenario is not self-indulgent.

No, I guess not. But...

But that example is so ludicrous, you would never--

- Why did you ask me to come here, Hunter?

- Suppose I hypothetically rethought your proposal

and today was our first day of working together?

Where would you suggest we start?

- Unlike irises, a landscape architect

wouldn't want to appear too shallow or cold.

So...

We would start with a logo redesign.

(โ™ชโ™ช)

Eh... I mean, these are...

These are too fluffy.

This one looks like it should be the logo

for a bakery on the corner,

not a business that gets down in the dirt.

- Okay. - Just...

But this one actually has some potential.

Yeah, just make it... Make it less girly.

Huh. Fair.

I can do that.

I'll start on some edits.

Your turn.

What do you mean?

- How do I start my own business?

(laughing)

- No, I've gotta do some research into your field of work.

You gotta give me some time.

Okay. So we have a deal?

- Yeah. - Good.

'Cause I gotta get to work. Can't be late!

(chuckles)

So, we're cleaning, we're dusting,

we're having a great time.

Okay, okay.

(laughing)

With this wonderful image

and the context that our

audience probably grew up

in the 90s in mind,

what would be a catchy tagline?

How about...

Smell Ya' Later?

They're excited to clean again later because it doesn't stink.

Yes, okay, that's it. Let's keep working on this.

Keep up the good work, you guys, you're great.

Even with work going so well with my team at work...

I couldn't stop thinking about my project with Hunter.

Ah... There we go.

(phone chimes)

Um...

(clears throat)

One more thing, guys.

(clears throat)

And that's how we will make

this a campaign that will live in history forever.

We'll all be legends!

(applause)

- Oh my gosh. That sounded riveting!

(nervous laughter)

Well, I'll have to give you

a full recap another time.

We've got way too much

work to do.

Back to work, guys!

Okay!

Between the two of us,

there's a Vice President of Creative position opening up.

It'd be a huge jump for you.

Keep this up and I just might recommend you.

Wow. Thanks, Carol.

(sighs)

And thank you.

(birds chirping)

Is everyone ready?

- Yes! - Yes!

- We can't wait. - Come on!

- Oh! - Oh my gosh!

Absolutely beautiful.

- You look like a Hollywood starlet.

(chuckling)

Thank you, Grandma.

You're just missing one thing.

I want to give you the necklace

your grandfather gave to me to propose.

Really?

(soft music)

This is yours now, dear.

Grandma. How can I thank you?

- Be in love with your life with Carly

as much as I was in love with my life

with your grandpa.

(โ™ชโ™ช)

- Wow. This is a beautiful park. - Yeah.

- Oh, is this another one of your clients?

Yeah. Hey! Nice to see you.

Oh.

Um...

What the heck was that?

No idea.

- "Hunter, huge fan of your work here.

Hope to see you around more often."

Oh my gosh.

What is it?

She gave you her number.

Oh, what is it?

- It's surprising how much everyone loves you.

Everyone, huh?

This is for you.

- Uh, is this where you tell me you actually have dreams

to sell your manuscript and become an author?

No. That is a business plan.

- For me? - Yeah.

Yeah, I researched the first five to ten years of starting

a business in the creative space.

Reached out to some colleagues about renting an office space.

Uh, wow, I mean...

- This is what we talked about, right?

Yeah, it's just... a lot.

I mean, five to ten years down the line

and you reached out to an office space already?

- You know what? Start by writing a mission statement.

That really helped me. It gave me a touchstone,

something to remember why I took the plunge in the first place.

Start there, take a look, but you know, for what it's

worth, for the little I know you, I think you can do it.

Thanks.

So, you actually want her number?

No. I'm good.

(bright music)

Match point!

- Ugh! Come on, Steph, keep us alive!

I can't stand losing to Carly. Please.

(grunting)

- Oh-ho! Longley sisters are buying lunch!

(laughing)

Way to use your head, Steph.

(whooshing)

(gasps)

Holy! Great shot, sis!

How did you do that?

You're going down, Carly!

We're coming back, we're winning this thing!

(laughing)

- I honestly can't believe you guys won.

Honestly, it's like I have a memory of us winning.

But that's not what happened.

- Nope. - That's weird.

Well, Steph was clutch.

It's like she knew where all your shots were going.

- Yes! Yes, you did! (laughing)

Well, good match.

But I don't want to talk about that anymore.

How's our landscaper, Stephanie?

Excuse me?

Angela told me that you might be dating him. I'm sorry!

- Ang... - I'm sorry.

- I may have exaggerated a little.

- Ugh. We're just working together.

He's really smart. And kind.

Resourceful. He can even be effortlessly funny sometimes.

I'm sensing a "but".

- He also doesn't seem to realize what people like about him.

It's like he puts on this bravado that he doesn't need to... I don't know.

Sometimes I feel like we shouldn't even be working together.

That sounds familiar.

Oh?

- Yeah. Everything you're saying is what I thought about your

sister when I first met her.

I didn't know that.

- Yeah! So, my friend had worked with Angela before,

and so, when I was looking for my house,

I thought, naturally, I should

go with someone who comes highly recommended.

I had no idea what I was getting into.

(Stephanie laughs)

Yeah, well,

it all worked out, didn't it?

(chuckling)

Not only did she get

a beautiful house below asking,

you also got a beautiful future wife.

Of course.

But it was challenging

working with you at first.

I'm difficult to deal with.

(laughing)

What changed?

Nothing, really.

I'm confused.

Well, so was I.

I mean, in spite of how much

your sister and I butted heads,

I couldn't stop thinking about everything

that I liked about her.

And the things I thought I didn't like about her,

like how she would push me in a direction when she realized

that's where I wanted to go,

well, that was just an instance

of me being insecure

about how right she was about me.

Aw. That's really wonderful.

Yeah. It is.

- Okay, you need to save some nice words

for the crowd at our wedding.

You don't need to waste

them all on Steph.

- Okay, well, believe it or not, I have more sweet things

to say about you.

Just be open.

Not every marriage story starts with love at first sight.

- Thanks, but we're just working together.

- Honestly! - Of course, yeah.

- Just working together. - They're just working together!

Did you hear they're just working together?

(overlapping chatter)

They're just working together.

(Stephanie sighs)

Don't forget,

you do have a plus one.

Hmm. I thought it was tough

having one older sister.

(laughing)

"Stephanie Longley's success plan, creative business

for your business's creative."

Hmm. A little sing-songy, but...

Oh.

This is good.

Really good.

(phone chimes)

Shoot.

(jazzy piano music)

Hey.

I am so sorry.

- You know I've been sitting here for 30 minutes?

I know, I'm sorry.

- Are you even taking this seriously?

Of course I am!

'Cause I put a lot of work

into that business plan.

I know. I was reading it,

- that's why I'm late, I swear. - Sure.

I mean it, I loved it!

'Kay.

- Would you believe me if I told you that I've been using this

magical watch to turn back time five minutes a day to keep up

with all the craziness?

And I would've used it

to be on time today,

but I'm conserving its powers.

(snorting)

(laughing)

That's one of the weirdest

excuses I've ever heard. I'm actually impressed.

- Hi. Um, I'll take a glass of whatever he's having

and the prosciutto arugula pizza for the table. Thanks.

I was gonna get a margherita.

- Yeah, well, you were too busy laughing.

Can you blame me?

- The business plan was brilliant.

You completely understand what I want, and I feel like

I haven't even told you that much yet. You just get me.

Guess I'm a good listener.

Apparently.

- Thanks. - Thank you.

- Well, cheers. - Cheers.

Finally.

So, you still feeling like all this is too much?

No. Well, I mean, yes I am.

(laughing)

- It's okay. - It is?

- Yeah. Yeah, I find the scariest things

in my life made me who I am.

- Wow, okay, so starting your own business

was that scary, huh?

- Ah, no, honestly, the scariest thing was when I...

I lost my dad.

I had to become the man

of the house for my mom

and my two sisters

when I was 12, but...

Hunter, I'm so sorry.

Oh no, it's okay.

I just mean when actual

scary things like that happen,

starting your own business doesn't seem so intimidating,

you know?

I don't.

- That must've been so tough. - Yeah.

Yeah, it was, but um...

What I'm trying to say is that you can do this.

You know what you're doing. People will follow you for that.

Would you follow me?

(chuckling)

Um...

- I think that I went on a first date here once.

Mmm. How'd it go?

- Um, I'm still single, so... - Right.

(sighs)

Yeah, I haven't been

on a first date in a long time.

- What's your ideal version of a first date?

- Uh... Actually, pizza... it's a good start.

- Right. Um, easy to eat. No mess.

Exactly.

I once went on a first date at this barbecue joint

and I got barbecue sauce all over my face like a child.

I had to keep wiping it off,

I couldn't keep a good conversation going.

You don't strike me as

somebody who would want a deep

conversation right away, though.

You kind of give off more of a guarded, um,

Batman or Bruce Wayne kind of vibe. No offence.

(deep voice): I don't understand what you mean.

(laughing)

I think people assume that I'm not sensitive or warm.

But you've seen me with my clients.

I can be...

quite conversational.

True.

- I mean, I'm sure people make the same assumptions

about you, given your line of work.

- Um, well, people assume that because I'm a creative,

I don't really have an analytical business mind.

Do you believe them?

I'd have to think about that.

- So, I looked up the logo design that you sent me.

Oh.

(chuckles)

Let me guess. You have edits.

- Uh, no. I like it. - Really?

- Yeah, yeah. It captures a sense of beauty,

while seeming serious.

It, uh... looks like a strong business.

It's good work.

Thanks.

And Hunter...

I am taking this very seriously.

Good. Me too.

(birds chirping)

(Zen music)

(chimes ringing)

(breathing deeply)

- Thanks for setting this up. - My pleasure.

- Ugh. I mean, Carly's just been...

I mean, I love her, but whew...

Difficult.

- Maybe she just wants to have a say

in the wedding planning.

- Are you saying that I'm difficult?

Oh...

No. No.

Hello? No.

I don't see it. I just...

I want to have things done my way.

- What's wrong with that? - Um...

- You're supposed to be on my side.

- Yeah, well, she's family now too.

- I guess I've been a little difficult.

My massage therapist said I was the tensest client

she's had in 15 years.

(laughing)

So how's work?

It's great.

I could get a promotion if things keep up.

- That's amazing! - Yeah.

You don't seem thrilled.

- I've just had a little trouble focusing.

Why?

(grunts)

Is it Hunter?

(laughing)

I knew it!

See, this is why I shouldn't

be looking for a relationship right now.

Things at work are finally going well and I should

be focusing on that, but I keep thinking about him.

Okay, what's wrong with that?

- Well, how am I supposed to get to where I want to go

if I keep thinking about some guy?

Well he's helping you

- build your business, isn't he? - Yes.

- And you like spending time with him?

Yes.

- So let's just put this together:

you've always wanted a meaningful relationship,

you've always wanted to own your own business

and now you have an opportunity to do both

and you're worried because... why?

I don't know.

It's just not how I envisioned it.

It all just seems so chaotic.

Just enjoy it, huh?

Don't question it, just live in the moment.

- Okay, I'll try. - Mm-hmm. Good.

- But only if you apologize to Carly.

- Fair enough. - Okay.

Where were we?

(sighs)

Hmm?

This is the headquarters

to one of Austin Landscaping's new and exciting companies?

- Yes, ma'am. - Wow.

Honoured to be here.

- (chuckling) - You should be.

- Ooh, you have candy. - Ah!

Uh... isn't that for guests?

- Yes, but you are a business student.

A student?

(chuckling)

Did you forget to pack my lunch? (chuckling)

- Look up there. What do you see?

- Uh, the blown-up section from my high school algebra book?

- No, that is the market research

and projections of the business plan

that you claim to have read.

- Right. Obviously. I was joking.

Okay. Look,

the business part of building a business

can be a little overwhelming.

So I thought I would walk you through

how I thought about things, you know,

to make it more accessible.

- Sounds great. - Great.

- One question. - We haven't even started yet.

- How does the candy play into this?

- Ah! Okay, well, I'm gonna give you a little mini quiz

after each section, and for every answer you get right,

- you get a candy. - Ah, yup. I'm in. Let's do it.

Great. Have a seat.

Okay.

- Ready? - Mm-hmm.

Yes sir.

Alright. On a high level,

market research is the process

of determining the viability of your business...

(inaudible conversation)

(soft music)

Okay. What are the findings

of our specific primary research?

- Uh, potential clients are looking for a creative partner

with lower costs than big agencies.

- Candy! - Yes!

- (laughing) - By Q3 of year two,

you can afford how many employees?

- Two in-house, one freelance.

- Oh, candy! - Yes!

Okay. Double or nothing.

If you get this right, I'm gonna let you fill

an entire other bag--

- (gasping) - Heck yeah!

But if you get it wrong,

I'm gonna take all that candy back.

- No, that's not as fun. (chuckling)

- Please recite your current product market fit verbatim.

Um...

I... I don't think we covered that.

- (chuckling) - Yeah, we did.

Like five minutes ago.

- Five minutes ago? - Yeah.

- You sure? - Yeah.

(whimsical music)

(whooshing)

(laughing)

Okay, okay.

Stop laughing!

- Okay. - Run it again.

Okay. I'll try.

(laughing) You said you would stop!

- Okay, okay. (sighing)

Ready?

You're not leading!

- Right. Okay. - Ready?

- Mm-hmm. - Go.

- Hmm? - Mm-hmm.

Okay.

- Nice. - Yeah.

- That's pretty good. Faster. - I can't go any faster.

- You can go faster. - Angela!

- Come on. - I can't.

- Ange... Ange... - Faster.

I'm sorry.

- If you're not gonna take this seriously,

I need to find someone who can help me.

- No, I'm sorry, it's just that, shouldn't you be practising

this with Carly?

It's just...

Carly's always wanted a magical first dance

and she said that this song was her guilty pleasure

and I just want to give her a surprise

and lead her through a waltz on our first dance

and I know that that is silly. (chuckling)

It's just she... she always says I'm in my own world

and she is my world and I just want to show her.

It's not silly.

It's... it's not?

No.

I just suck at dancing.

- Yeah. You do. (laughing)

- Yes. - Yeah.

- (sighs) - I'll do better.

Let's try it again, okay?

(sighs) Okay.

- Hunter! - Okay, I don't know

how many times I have to tell you--

- Angela! (whimsical music)

- Hello again. - Hi.

- Just doing some last-minute prep on the grounds

before the work for your wedding starts.

- Yeah... - Didn't expect to see you here.

- Well, uh, Steph is just helping me practise

- my surprise first dance. - Mm-hmm.

Oh, that's nice.

- She's an amazing dancer. - Is she?

Yeah.

Hey, I have an idea. Hey, are you...?

Are you busy right now, just for one second?

- Ange-- - What's up?

Well, I'm struggling

with just a few of these steps and I think

that if I were to say them out loud

while you two dance, it would help the perspective.

- Uh, yeah. Sure. If you think it'll help.

- Oh, it would help me out a lot.

Just put your hand up like this.

Don't be shy.

Great. Now, show him how

you put your arms around each other.

- Um... (chuckling)

Okay, so you put your arm around me here.

And I will put mine here.

Okay.

Great, I'll turn the music on.

(soft music)

(chuckling)

Okay, Hunter, you're gonna lead.

So, forward with your left foot.

Good. Now right.

Close with your left. Back with your right.

Left. And then close with the right.

Yeah, great. And...

(chuckling)

(soft music)

(clapping)

- Wow, that... thank you. That was...

Wonderful.

Yeah. It was.

- (sighs) - It just went by so fast.

Too fast.

(clock ticking)

(whooshing)

(soft music)

(playful music)

What?

The problem was I started using up my five minutes

of time travel whenever I was with Hunter,

leaving no room to fix mistakes at work.

(sighing)

Oh, no...

Okay...

Okay, there's more. Good.

Okay, how much longer?

Just one more second.

Okay, open them.

What do you think?

Oh no. You hate it.

Guess I shouldn't have put a non-refundable deposit

- on a billboard. - No, no, it's--

- I mean, I knew that you liked the logo

on some of the other designs I showed you,

but I guess I just got ahead of myself.

I don't know, I should have shown you each individual thing

before springing it all on you like this--

- Stephanie. - I'm sorry.

- About what? - All of... all of this.

All of this is perfect.

- Really? - Yeah. I mean...

You've been so patient with me and you've listened

to my preferences but pushed back

when you thought I was wrong. I...

I mean, I never could have made something this...

beautiful without you.

Beautiful?

So, it's not too girly or too fluffy?

No.

No.

(soft music)

- Um, are we ready for your presentation then?

- I mean, I do have a few notes on the billboard design.

Uh, so not perfect.

It's heading in a very

exciting and unexpected direction

and that is really all because of you.

- Let's see this-- - Yeah.

I think that's gonna look really good on you.

- If you get the right size. - Yeah?

- I think so. And look at this business card.

Your name... (chuckling)

- ...is on it. - I should hope so.

(laughing)

- Uh, how much longer? - Just... just one second.

- Okay, I have to get to work soon.

Just um...

Okay. Open them.

Ta-da!

- What do you think? - Um...

- It's... This is a bit nerve wracking,

but the rent is low, like a steal low,

I spoke to the landlord and he put me on a waiting list

and he said that there's no pressure,

so I can pull off at any time.

The location is great,

it's right in the middle of the city so wherever

your client is, they can come to you

or you can go to them. And I love these windows.

I mean, once you have a logo and a business name

you can put it right in the middle there.

I know I'm not the creative, but that'd be pretty cool.

Right?

Yeah.

Did I do something wrong?

Sorry, I just wanted to pay you back

for all that you've done for me and I...

thought you'd really like this.

I do.

That's the problem.

What do you mean?

- If I really do this, I could really fail.

And then what? The only dream I've ever had is crushed.

Stephanie...

Yeah?

- You have this innate ability to recognize

that special something about someone

and produce creative that elevates and celebrates that.

(soft music)

- Really? - Yeah.

I mean, that's what you did for me.

I don't know...

Look at me.

I believe you can do this.

I hope you're right.

I guess I better work on my mission statement.

(chuckling)

(phone chimes) Oh.

Oh, shoot. Ugh, I gotta go.

I'm so sorry. Thank you so much for this, Hunter.

It's a...

No worries.

(door opens and closes)

(whimsical music)

(indistinct chatter)

(phone ringing tone)

Carol! Sorry.

Where were you?

The team, Squeakee, they're all here for your pitch.

This is not a great way to start it off.

Oh, no.

- Must have left it at home. - Left what at home?

- Your presentation notes? - No...

You know what? It's okay.

I've got this.

Stephanie...

Hey, everyone!

Nice to see you again, Marion.

I hope that those cooking classes that you told me about

a while back are going great.

Just don't give any of that delicious food

to your dog, Sweeper.

She needs to recover from her ACL surgery.

(chuckling)

Anyway, I am so sorry for being late,

but you know, it's your fault, Marion.

Stephanie?

- You know, I used to hate cleaning,

but I was using the new duster this morning

and I would be darned if I didn't want to stay home

and clean all day.

(laughing)

Shall we get started?

I can't wait to show you what we've come up with.

(upbeat music)

Cleaning doesn't have to stink.

(indistinct chatter)

- Stephanie. - Oh, be right back.

- So? - Squeakee loved it.

I loved it.

And I'm sure my cute new boyfriend Barry would love it.

Excuse me?

Nothing.

Squeakee wants to increase their budget with us.

- That's great. - Yeah.

I'm sorry I was so hard on you earlier.

You're absolutely killing it.

Every time I think you're gonna trip up,

you do something even more amazing.

Great job.

I think we should talk about the possibility of a promotion.

Yes! We did it, guys.

So, what are we planting today?

- Miniature roses. - Ooh, fancy.

And how did you decide on that?

Just go with my gut.

- How did your gut bring you to miniature roses?

- Well, they're a really durable flower, actually.

I just thought that they would last the longest here

and look the best in the process.

Hmm, that's nice.

You know, I feel you don't give yourself enough credit

when you say you'd go with your gut.

Maybe.

But to be honest, I actually chose them

because they remind me of you.

- Oh. - Yeah. I mean, they're full

of potential and they're beautiful.

(soft music)

So, we still gonna go over logo designs?

- I have to help my sister out with something this afternoon

but I'm free a little later.

- Okay. I have my goddaughter's birthday,

but you're welcome to join.

I mean, I'm gonna be surrounded by screaming kids,

so, I could use the support.

- (chuckling) - Alright. Deal.

Great.

- This is right when things started to move really fast

in so many ways.

Too fast for my little watch.

(soft music)

Oh.

Yeah, that's the perfect wedding look.

- Yeah? - Yeah.

- Yes. - Yes!

Thank you.

Hey, did you drop off the necklace

I want to engrave for Carly?

Uh...

(ethereal music)

(whooshing)

Where'd she go?

(soft music)

"I'm sure this look is absolutely perfect.

I left to engrave the necklace for Carly."

Oh.

At least she's on it. (chuckling)

"PS, lock up when you leave."

(sighs)

(excited screaming)

(playful music)

- I can't wait to see what you're doing.

(chuckling)

Alright, how do I look? Good?

Wow, I feel like a powerful princess.

Great job. High-five.

(chuckling)

Cake and ice cream and pop.

You're gonna have a great night tonight.

- Yeah. I can't wait. It's gonna be awesome.

- You wanna stay? You wanna help? - Not at all.

- Oh, come on. - Not at all.

- What do you think? (laughing)

Wow.

This is a good look for you.

My kid's got some talent.

- She sure does. - Thanks for doing that.

- Well, of course. She's wonderful.

Hunter is lucky to have a goddaughter like Sloane.

She's lucky to have him too.

As am I to have a free landscaper.

- Oh, there it is. (laughing)

- He's as generous as he is talented.

He's really just a big teddy bear.

- You don't say? - Okay, that's enough.

- What? I'm sure Stephanie wants to know who the real Hunter is.

- You know what? I was just about to ask

for an embarrassing childhood story.

- Careful... - Where to start?

Don't. Careful.

- Romeo here asked Teresa Armstead out in fifth grade

- by writing her a poem. - Oh. No way.

That's not even the best part.

At the end of the poem he wrote...

- Just stop talking. - ...will you be my girlfriend?

And he drew little boxes for yes, no--

- How do you remember this? - ...and maybe.

And asked her to select her choice.

- That's amazing. - You know what? Laugh.

Laugh all you want, but she officially checked yes.

- I'm sure she did. - Yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, you know what? I'm sure he would love to.

- What's that? (laughing)

Sloane here was wondering

if you would like to join her at the sticker station?

- (laughing) - Oh, Sloane, sweetheart.

- I'm sure that this would mean a lot to Sloane.

It would. Right, sweetie?

- Okay. - Yeah.

Let's go.

Good job.

- Hey, Sloane, those little rainbow ones?

I think those are perfect for him.

(whooshing)

(ethereal music)

- Don't you feel like we were just here?

Maybe I'm having deja vu.

- Huh. That happens to me sometimes too.

- Anyway. What were we talking about?

- You were briefing me on what it would take

to get a promotion.

- Right. Now, this promotion comes with more money

- and politics. - Absolutely.

- Now don't get me wrong, your creative touch

is important too. But you've--

- But I would need to be able to convince the big wigs

to accept my team's ideas, right?

- Yes. And-- - And naturally,

that would necessitate some massaging of egos.

- Wow. You took the words right out of my mouth.

I almost feel like I told you all of this before.

Huh. Weird.

Well, you know, that is what they say deja vu feels like.

I guess so.

You're gonna get this promotion with this attitude, Stephanie.

- Alright, so we will have monthly community barbecues,

youth workshops and that is why your first campaign

will be called Barn H(e)arts Outdoors:

Landscaping Care Beyond Your Bushes.

- Love it. - Really?

You seem surprised.

- I just feel like the Hunter I met a while ago

wouldn't have been okay with a play on hearts

and his last name.

- Well, I guess I've changed since I met you.

- I hope you changed enough to be open to the idea

of doing a video for the campaign.

- You mean like a commercial? - Yeah.

You'll have to be all smiley and vulnerable

and talk about why you do this.

It would really give you an opportunity

to show that you are what sets your business apart

from your competitors. (laughing)

I haven't changed that much.

- Ugh, come on! It's gonna be great.

I'm not doing it.

It'll be simple. I'll direct.

I don't care who directs...

- Listen, if you're gonna get this grant,

you're gonna need to continue to put yourself

- outside your comfort zone. - I have.

And I don't mind doing it because I like you.

I mean, I like working with you. But I'm not a mascot.

I like working with you too.

Sometimes I feel like you have all these walls up.

And I wonder if you'll ever let them down.

- Have you let all your walls down?

I mean, you keep asking me to step out of my comfort zone,

but what about you? Have you given any more thought

about taking the leap? Starting your own business?

- My boss wants me to apply for a promotion.

- I'll take that as a no. - I mean, I--

- See? Everyone tells me I need to be more vulnerable,

- but it's not just me-- - Will you be my date

to my sister's wedding?

- I mean-- - I'd love to.

Great.

(soft music)

(chuckling)

Yeah.

- Um, this might be a moot point but if I had asked you

to do the video after I had asked you to be my date,

would you have said yes?

Yeah. I might have.

- I didn't want to change anything about this moment.

But I knew that video would push his proposal

over the top.

I had to go back. For him.

(whooshing)

I mentioned that things are moving fast, right?

I was starting to feel like jumping back

five minutes a day wasn't enough for me

to stay on top of everything.

But if I could just get through tomorrow,

I had a chance to pull everything off.

(soft music)

There's so much potential not only to expand

our creative offerings but also to attract emerging clients

who can grow with us.

- I think that sounds like a wonderful plan.

Truly everything that you've mentioned

from the business side of creative

sounds really impressive.

But the question that you're going to be asked

in this interview is:

"What makes you the most unique person for this promotion?"

That's a really good question.

Barry helped me think of it.

(chuckling)

- A client once told me that I have an innate ability

to identify that special something about someone

and produce creative that elevates and celebrates it.

Great answer.

- Um, Carol. - Yes?

- I really appreciate you believing in me,

you know, giving me the lead in the Squeakee account

and encouraging me to apply for this promotion

but...

If I truly think about where I want to be...

it's starting my own business.

And I think that now might be the time to do it.

Wow.

That's a bold move.

It is.

But luckily,

I have some really great people helping me out.

(sighs)

- And I can't talk you out of it?

I'm afraid not.

Well,

you'll be missed.

(soft music)

(indistinct chatter)

(clears throat)

(clears throat)

- My friend should be arriving shortly.

Sorry about the wait.

(suspenseful music)

- (phone chimes) - Oh, what?

No, no, no, no!

Reply to Hunter: I'm running a little late,

I'll be there soon, I'm so sorry.

Ooh, ugh...

- As you can see, this campaign shows

how our care goes beyond the grounds

we're hired to maintain.

We care about the people beyond the bushes.

I apologize about this slide,

there's supposed to be a video that really...

ties the campaign together.

Any questions?

So sorry. So sorry.

- Sorry-- - What are you...?

- I can fix this, I promise I'll fix this.

- Stephanie, what are you--

Psst!

The video.

It's there.

Uh...

I'm sorry, where was I?

- Um... (clears throat)

You were talking about how you care about the people

beyond the bushes.

Right. Um, right.

And then this video you will...

Um...

Just watch the video, I guess.

I think that went well.

Listen, everyone gets a little nervous sometimes

but you settled in and you finished off strong, so...

No, I wasn't nervous.

- Oh, it just kind of seemed like...

- I was disappointed. - With the video?

I mean, I know that the editing was a bit choppy--

No, not the video. And...

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but...

you weren't joking about that watch, were you?

Um...

(chuckling)

(laughing)

Hunter...

I can't really explain this,

but I have this distinct feeling or memory

of starting the presentation off alone, without you,

and then you barged in and you reached down for your watch

and then all of a sudden I, I don't know, um...

travelled through time?!

Or something?!

Listen, I can explain.

- Have you been using this watch on me this whole time?

No.

Not exactly.

No, I swear it was only to convince you

to do a few things for your business

that I knew would make a huge difference.

- So you used it to manipulate me?

No.

To do what was best for you.

I only used it a few times, I swear.

Don't forget about today.

Right.

Today too. I...

I'm sorry, I should have never used it around you.

I was just scared.

- Of what? - Of my feelings for you.

They were so strong, so fast.

I didn't think I would feel this way and I just

- wanted to get things right. - Wow--

- No, that's not what I meant, I...

I had a plan.

You weren't part of it initially but then...

- Yeah, sorry. Sorry I ruined your magical plan.

- No, listen, I don't need the watch to know

how I feel about you.

I'm sorry, I should have never used it around you.

- You know, this whole time I thought you felt

- the same way about me-- - I do.

- And that you were in the moment with me.

- I am. - No, but you weren't.

You weren't, though.

How long have you had it?

Four weeks.

So since we met?

(scoffs)

Oh.

These are for you.

- Miniature roses. - Yeah.

Thank you for...

I actually can't say what.

Hunter...

(laughing)

- And that's when I realized there is no right time.

Because when you meet the person

who you are gonna love for the rest of your life...

The only timeline that matters is the one with them.

And even though I know that it is not our wedding

quite yet,

I wanted to give you, the love of my life, Carly,

a very special gift.

- What... (chuckling)

- Sis. - Hmm?

It's the necklace.

(sombre music)

I am so sorry.

(footsteps receding)

Ange.

Angela, please, I feel terrible--

- It was one small ask. That was it!

- I know. I'm upset with myself too, you have to believe me

I have had a terrible day.

- I'm so sorry that you had a terrible day

on the eve of my wedding!

- You're right, I'm sorry. This is your weekend and...

You deserve to be mad at me.

I am not mad at you.

But I am very disappointed.

- That is worse! - I just... listen,

I know you've done a lot for this wedding

but I really needed that, yeah?

- And you let me down. - I know. I messed up.

I am the worst.

Okay. I forgive you.

- No, I don't deserve your forgiveness.

- Come on, you're being so dramatic.

I'm the dramatic one, I'm the bride!

- I'm serious, I just keep letting everyone

that I care about most down

and I literally have no excuse.

- There's nothing you can't fix with the watch on your wrist.

(soft music)

I never told you that.

Huh.

Great Aunt Veronica did.

- But there is no Great Aunt Veronica.

Well...

I'm Great Aunt Veronica.

What?

The watch was mine.

For a while.

Mom gave it to me. (chuckling)

She signed it from Great Aunt Veronica,

I think she still thinks I don't know it was from her,

it was so obvious.

I think she was trying to teach me a lesson

because she gave it to me

around the time when I was coming out.

I used to practise with that thing every single day

coming out to you and Mom and Dad

and then I would just rewind immediately.

I was so nervous.

- If I had known you were going through that,

I would've been right there for you.

- But I also needed to go through it like that.

Yeah.

It was all the practising I did that made me realize

I was shooting for this perfect "What if".

All I needed to do was to see what is.

Once I was able to accept my true self,

I was able to ditch the watch,

step into my new life

fully accepting who I am.

That's beautiful.

- Yeah. (chuckling)

Well, I was kind of hoping

that you would have the same realization.

Come here.

(sighs)

You are not late for anything.

You are right on Stephanie time.

And I, I love Stephanie time.

(chuckling)

Come here.

Thank you.

(chuckles)

(sighs)

Would you mind giving this back

to Great Aunt Veronica for me?

(sighs)

I can do that.

Thanks.

- So what are you gonna do about Hunter?

(laughing)

I don't know.

If I were him, I would be so mad at me.

I hope he forgives me.

- He will. (chuckles)

- Yeah? - Yeah.

I have a feeling

he's as big a fan of the real Stephanie time zone

as I am.

- I hope so. (laughing)

Okay, get out of here.

I will see you right on time tomorrow.

Yeah.

Right on time.

(soft music)

Love you.

I had never been so clear on what I wanted

and how to get it.

Excuse me. Um, I was hoping to talk to you all

about the Growing Business Grant.

It's about Hunter Barnhart.

Please, just a few minutes.

Thank you.

Um...

Hunter created these for me.

He studied my field, creative advertising,

and he came up with an amazing business plan

which I plan on implementing starting tomorrow.

How many of your other applicants

would have had the drive, the knowledge

and the generosity to come up

with such a thorough outline in an industry

that they had no prior knowledge of,

all while they were preparing for their presentation to you?

He taught me to believe in myself

while he was preparing to ask you for the most

consequential funding in the history of his business.

Could you imagine how he could use that grant money?

To mentor new employees and give back to the community?

(soft music)

I'll leave these with you. Please, think about it.

Thank you for your time.

Talking about why Hunter deserved support

and success came easy.

On the other hand...

Ugh.

I don't know...

- You know, usually people write the mission statement

before they quit the job. Just...

- I know it seems impulsive but it just felt so right, Ange.

(sighs) I'm sorry, you can go.

Ugh...

I can't sleep anyway.

You know, the business plan that Hunter made for you was amazing.

I think he must really like you.

- I think he does. - Mm-hmm.

Or at least he did.

The plan is amazing, it's just I don't think I can write

anything worthy of it.

- Just think of it as celebrating your strengths.

You can do that.

(soft music)

You're right.

Okay. Goodnight, sis. Go get some sleep.

I love you. Go! Go, go, go!

(sighs)

And after that, I scheduled my first meeting

on Stephanie time.

If you don't want to talk to me, that's okay.

But take this.

(birds chirping)

The board awarded you the grant.

(soft music)

Wow.

You deserve it.

Thanks.

- Do you mind if I tell you my company's new mission statement?

- Not that you owe me anything-- - Stephanie, I don't know.

- I really could just use your opinion.

Okay.

- Stephanie Longley has an innate ability

to learn what's best about her clients

and produce creative that elevates and celebrates it.

Sounds familiar.

I quit my job yesterday.

You did?

- You showed me that trusting in myself

is all I need to get what I want.

And what I want right now is you.

I...

How do I know you haven't used your watch

to see how I'll react to this speech

a million different ways?

- I'm not interested in what-ifs anymore.

I wanna be right here,

right now,

with you.

- If that's not what you want then I can respect that.

I am so sorry for hurting you, Hunter.

It's the biggest regret I'll ever have.

You know...

I journaled last night.

Never really done that before.

Never saw the need but...

I just get it all out, all my feelings and...

All I found myself writing about was you.

I think I wanted to see myself a certain way

that I was blinded to all the good things

that make me...

me.

You helped me realize that feeling

the way I do about things is...

is a strength, not a weakness.

How do you feel right now?

Mind if I show you?

(soft music)

(phone chimes)

(chuckling)

Shoot.

What are you doing right now?

Well, I had some plans, but...

I can cancel.

- Do you want to go to a wedding?

Absolutely.

With me?

- Oh, with you. - Yeah!

- Oh, okay, yeah. (laughing)

(soft music)

(applause)

- My sister once said there are two clocks in this world:

the rest of the world's clock and Stephanie time.

I didn't really like Stephanie time

because I used to think that meant I would forever

be a few minutes away from finding love.

But then I got a magical watch from my great aunt,

who turned out to be my sister,

and, well, I found out that regaining those few minutes

wasn't what I was missing.

I was missing out on living every moment of Stephanie time

to its fullest.

That was how I got Hunter.

You know, one of the times that I used the watch

was the first time we danced.

- (scoffs) - Really? Why?

I didn't want it to end.

(soft music)

- Well, next time, all you gotta do is tell me.

'Cause I've got all the time in the world for you.

Really?

Really.

Alright, everybody ready?

- Yes! (chuckling)

- Wait, Carly, what are you doing?

What'd I do?

Oh, my watch just broke.

Sorry, I should have waited until your big reveal.

Steph?

I got rid of it. We're good.

Thank you.

Alright, well, here goes.

(cheering)

- Yeah! - Shall we?

Yes!

After you.

(bright music)
