When you examine a child who's been the
victim of sexual abuse and you touch the

child's vagina, she will automatically
relax that muscle.

Normal children will just tense up.

They seem to leave their bodies.

Their eyes glaze as if they've lost
contact with their physical being.

Elisa displayed both of these symptoms.

And what about the physical evidence?

I examined her genitalia, both macro and
microscopically, and found scarring.

the periphery of the hymen. Can you

explain the significance of the scar?

Yes. It means it was penetrated by an

These are the telltale signs of sexual

where a child has claimed she was

by a parent when it hasn't been true?
I've never had such a case. Well, have

ever heard of such a case where a child,
through displacement, will blame a

parent for something that didn't happen?
There have been cases, yes.

And, Doctor, as for this vaginal
scarring we're talking about...

Could have happened in a tricycle
accident if she came down too hard in
