Cheers to getting married!
Previously, 20 singles embarked on the ultimate pursuit of true love.
Yes.
Wrap me up and give me to my husband.
I'm ready for it.
Before...
Do we have a wet weather plan?
..Lucinda and Timothy's chaotic start.
I wanna meet him and just take in his quintessence.
Saw the self-confessed Tin Man... (VOICE WAVERS) Uh...
..expose his heart.
I realised I was alone.
It's one of the most fascinating matches.
She's nothing you would have looked for,
but I think she's everything you need.
As Lucinda's light continues to shine bright.
The experts have really listened to me,
and I think it's going to be an extraordinary adventure.
Plus... I'm a dominant lover.
..this year's most alpha groom.
I'm definitely attracted to the submissive type.
..finally met his match.
I'm a bit of a control freak.
She seems sweet. I definitely reckon I'll sort her out.
There is something about him. I can feel it in my (BLEEP) bones.
Tonight...
Find out which participant has done a runner.
And weddings.
It's every bride's most magical day.
Full of romance and grace.
(BLEEP!)
But this quirky wedding...
..needs to be seen to be believed.
Oh, no. Oh, yes.
Plus, he's the champion kickboxer...
..with a heart of gold.
I'm coming home for snuggles and back tickles.
(LAUGHS)
But will Jayden get judged on his tough guy exterior?
I'm just hoping she's not going to think, "He's heartless.
"And he doesn't have the ability to love."
Were you this nervous, bro? No.
What do you do for work?
Uh, I'm a kickboxer.
Oh, no.
From the crystal clear waters of Vanuatu...
MAN: How are you going in life?
(WOMAN GRUMBLES)
Wow, this is really good.
Wow, wow.
..to the tropical paradise of Fiji,
our newlyweds are forming strong connections.
As they spend quality time together on their honeymoons
at stunning locations.
So soft!
(LAUGHTER)
Oh, look at your claws! Well done.
Oh, you're a good boy.
How are you enjoying it? I'm enjoying it.
I think we do all your nails.
I can't believe this.
Well, they look good from here.
We'll go and inspect them in a bit.
I think you got really nice feet, by the way.
They're very chunky.
Earthy. They are. They kicked the couch.
Uh... (CHUCKLES)
In Melbourne, expert John Aiken is making an unexpected house call
to one of the participants...
..after an unprecedented event transpired.
Hey, how are you?
Good to see you. Yeah, good to see you as well.
Can I come in? Yeah, yeah, yeah, come on in.
My name is Michael.
I'm 34 and I am ready for that next chapter
in life of love and marriage.
Michael entered this year's experiment
hoping to find the man of his dreams,
and he made a memorable entrance,
surprising the single ladies at the hens night.
Ladies.
Hi.
I am the new bride.
(LAUGHTER, CHEERING)
But despite his hopes
when being welcomed with open arms at the hens...
..this morning John Aiken has some news about
the man Michael has been matched with.
Well, Michael, it's highly unusual
for me to come and visit a participant,
but I've got some real disappointing and shocking news.
After the bucks and the hens night,
your match...
How are you, man? Good. Simon.
You look as nervous as me. Oh, yeah.
..decided to send us an email
saying he no longer wanted to be a part of the experiment.
That's... (CHUCKLES)
Uh, that's... Oh, God. OK.
That's definitely a hard blow.
I feel like somebody just ripped my heart out of my chest.
I just...
..I want to be understanding of his side,
but I just would love to know why.
Man... (SIGHS)
Yeah.
I don't want you to take this personally.
This happened because your match couldn't cope
with the experiment and the unknown
and the pressure that was going to go on them.
It was absolutely devastating.
But...
..we, the experts, have not lost hope.
We are now looking closely at new matches for you
because we want to find you the fairy tale.
Yeah. There are no guarantees.
I can't tell you whether or not
we're going to find that special someone.
But what I can confirm is that Mel, myself and Alessandra
are totally committed right now to trying.
I definitely appreciate that.
Hold on. Don't give up hope. We certainly haven't.
My match pulling out means, honestly, he just wasn't the one.
As bad as it feels, maybe it means I dodged a bullet.
John has given me a little bit of hope.
Um, the experts are still looking thoroughly
to find me a better match.
As the experts return to the drawing board,
hoping to find Michael a new match...
..it's time to meet one of the most unique
brides the experiment has ever seen.
I'm quite different to a lot of a lot of girls.
Definitely not a Bondi babe by any stretch of the imagination.
Pale skin, don't do well in the sun.
Burn like a crisp.
My teeth are too big. I smile too gummy.
I've got wrinkles in the side of my eyes.
I'm too short. So I I've been bullied in the past.
I'm the girl who loves playing video games,
and I used to do a lot of cosplay
and it helped me become this confident person.
I'm able to put some positive energy out
into a room and people can sense that.
And that's why I work in public health.
So nice big steps as we've been practicing.
Not getting too caught on the doorway there.
I love my job as a physio.
So we're going to get this new knee moving.
And I do really enjoy working with the elderly.
I've got a lot of respect for them.
Speedy Gonzalez.
Usually they have good stories to tell
and try and set me up with their grandsons.
(LAUGHS)
Over the last few years, I didn't prioritise finding love
because I wanted to spend time with Dad,
as he's been quite unwell for the last couple of years,
and he passed away about six weeks ago.
It made me really reevaluate.
Life is short.
I've got so much more love to give.
I feel like I'm about to break out in song.
(LAUGHS)
What are you most excited about?
Falling in love.
Oh, that's the right answer, right there.
So what does that look like when you fall in love?
How do you behave?
Like a child. I'm just giddy.
They go, "Wow, OK. You're really intense."
And... But, you know, once you're on the same page as someone
and the energy's going both ways,
it's a real...
..it's a real firecracker.
I'd love someone who is quite similar to me.
Who is funny, is kind.
They can put the positiveness out into the room
and just be happy to be there.
I've found that's very attractive.
Without further ado, guys, my name is Collins.
I'm your host. It is trivia time. Here we go.
Question number one.
WOMAN: How would your friends describe you?
Can I? Oh, OK.
I thought we're... (LAUGHS) Sorry, mate.
OK.
Testing, testing, team at the back.
Give me a wave if you can hear me.
My mates, they would lovingly say, 'idiot'.
Let me hear you. Get around it.
A bit of a closet nerd as well, you know.
So, Collins, let's talk about relationships.
Awww. Relationships. Here we go.
Shit!
Nah. Let's go, let's go.
Ever been in one?
Relationship? Nada. Nah. Never been in a relationship.
I've also never gone past the first date.
And I think that's because I do get friend-zoned...
..and that hurts.
You and I have had some conversations
around, like, the beauty of walking in life
and chasing adventures with someone with you,
and I just...
Sorry, I'm getting choked up.
I'm excited for you to experience some of that. Yeah.
I went to my sister's wedding earlier on this year.
My folks have been together for 33 years.
And I want that. (LAUGHS)
I mean, you know, growing up being the very, very,
very skinny brown kid
who wasn't that tall as well,
there wasn't that much confidence.
So I'm really proud of the growth that I've had in myself,
where it's just, "This is who you are, mate."
I'm a little bit different. That's it.
I'm a little bit different.
And I want to find someone who I can be my true self
to go beyond a friendship.
And I'm really looking forward to it.
So Natalie and Collins
are not our typical couple here in MAFS.
They're very quirky individuals. No?
What's interesting here
is that Natalie has had a seven-year relationship.
She's really experienced.
Collins, on the other hand, has not had a relationship yet.
I think with Collins, particularly here,
this is going to be a challenge.
And so while he will try,
I think, to put on a brave face in this experiment,
ultimately he will be all-at-sea as to how to manage an intimate,
close relationship.
And that's where Natalie can really help him out.
The good news here
is that Natalie is very open and non-judgmental. She's patient.
She's going to give him that chance and that room to grow.
You know, I think as a couple, they really bring
something very different to this experiment.
I think they're going to be very grounding and very relatable.
VOICEOVER: With Natalie and Collins matched,
it's time to meet our next single.
RING ANNOUNCER: Jayden Eynaud!
(DING! DING!)
My name is Jayden, I'm 26 years old, from the Gold Coast
and I'm a full time professional kickboxer.
Bring it on.
Every single day.
I'm not everything that I appear.
And that's what a lot of people don't understand, you know?
I'll knock you the (BLEEP) out,
but then I'm coming home for snuggles and back tickles.
(LAUGHS)
You know what I mean?
Would you describe yourself as a romantic?
Yeah, yeah, I love it. I love love.
I love the dating and all the romantic kind of stuff.
Well, you light up when you talk about it.
Yeah.
I've been wanting to get married since I was 18.
You know, I want that young marriage.
It's kind of the end goal for any man, right?
Having a your perfect girl and kids.
But it just hasn't come about.
I haven't found the right one.
Your family have a relationship with Married at First Sight.
Correct. Particularly your brother Mitch.
Will you be my wife?
Who I had the pleasure of spending season nine with.
Looking snazzy, mate.
Feeling good. Hey?
How are ya? Good, mate.
Oh, it's very nostalgic, you know,
coming in here and watching him try on suits and...
Yeah, there's something that I was doing not too long ago,
so it's bringing back some memories.
That's what I wore. I wore that colour.
I think I can pull it off better.
He's my brother. I love him to death.
But when it comes to relationships, yeah, we're very different.
Oh, a lot of people assume that because
we're brothers that I'm the same.
They think that I have trust issues like him.
All this, all this. Cameras in my face.
It's not what I like.
They think that I'm a little bit of a smart-arse like him.
Oh, you're not wiggin', are ya? You're not wiggin' are ya, bra?
They I think that I have commitment issues like him.
I'm sorry, Ella, but right now I just can't give
you the commitment I know that you want.
Very nostalgic, this. Very nostalgic.
I didn't trust the experiment.
And obviously looking back on it now,
I wish I did trust it a little bit more.
It was very difficult for me to open up and be myself.
And that's something that I regret.
But Jayden and I are very, very different.
Yeah, I like it, man.
I don't necessarily have that very melty, soft side like he does.
So he's gonna go all the way.
Go big, don't wig. Go big, don't wig.
You ain't wiggin'? No, I'm... No!
My relationship history? Not good.
There's a lot of cheating.
And what sort of impact did that have on you?
It stings.
And it stays with you for a long time.
It's a bit of a... It's even worse when it's a shock
and you have no idea when it's going on,
you know, and you think things are going great,
the relationship is good, and you're mentally preparing
to spend the rest of your life with this girl.
And then boom, out of nowhere,
you find out all these different things.
Knowing what you've had in the past,
what are some of the things that you gravitate to
that you think are going to be important for a match?
I want to meet a nice girl.
She has ambitions, she has aspirations.
She's...she's genuine and she has a bit of a soft side.
And she loves dogs.
Someone you want to bring home to mum.
That's what I'm looking for.
This way. Come on!
Since I moved up to the Gold Coast -
I left all my family and friends in Adelaide...
Could I please get the yellow smoothie, please?
And then a puppuccino as well.
I spend 99% of my time alone with my dog.
Thank you.
Yeah, I don't party too much.
I'm pretty low-key in there.
I'm Eden, I'm 28,
and I'm a recruitment manager from the Gold Coast.
I'm curious. Just your story. Why are you here?
You're so young and beautiful
and I cannot imagine you having trouble.
Thank you.
Meeting men or finding people to date.
I think that finding someone isn't necessarily hard,
but finding the right person definitely is.
My last relationship, we did break up because he cheated on me.
Came out in the end that, um, he had cheated on me
with my lifelong best friend.
So, like my best friend from when I was a kid,
we spent family Christmases together,
and the person that I would always call
to vent about a fight I had with my boyfriend
or whatever it was, was her.
And then I suddenly lost my boyfriend,
who was the person I spent the most time with,
and her both at the same time.
And I was kind of like, "Who do I even talk to?"
Life-long friend.
That's like an insanely deep betrayal.
I think the betrayal of a friend is a lot worse
than the betrayal of a partner, especially partners
when you were young,
I think they can come and go a little bit.
But lifelong friends,
I know I owe all of my friends a lifetime of loyalty.
I can imagine that being absolutely devastating.
Yeah, I just wanted to crawl in a ball and cry.
I am so hesitant now.
I am so hesitant to date someone else
and to be in that same position again.
Since that, I haven't even gotten close with someone ever since.
I definitely don't trust people easily.
That's probably why I spend so much time with Cub as well,
because he's just the most reliable thing in the world.
Having someone betray your trust that you are so close to,
it makes me just think that anyone could do that to you.
But I don't want to be single for the rest of my life.
Regardless of what's happened, there is no excuse for cheating.
Trust is the primary foundation
of every single relationship.
That's my job as a man to earn my wife's trust.
And I'm more than willing to do that.
I've achieved what I kind of want to achieve in kickboxing.
Yes.
I've ticked every box in my life except for,
you know, having the wife and kids.
Everything else in my life is going so well.
Except for this.
I think you are this guy who on the surface
you think tough, uncompromising,
but actually on the inside there's a romantic
guy who wants to fall in love.
Yeah. Very misunderstood.
Hopefully this match that we put you with, she can see that softer side.
She'll see it.
Eden really needs somebody strong who can hold the space,
who can give her some safety, who can make her feel at ease.
They know that the other person understands what it feels
like to have gone through that type of betrayal.
It makes it easier to trust
that somebody who's gone through that won't do that to you.
And when I look at these two,
because they've both been cheated on,
they have a very strong sense of right and wrong.
Yes.
And so in the group, as well as together,
I think their boundaries are going to be very clear.
And I think they'll be quite outspoken about what they are
comfortable with and what they simply won't put up with.
And of course, there's such a soft marshmallow interior
to Jayden.
I love that he's a very caring, quite traditional,
you know, in his values.
He's very family focused, and I think once
Eden sees through the tough exterior,
I think she's going to fall for him.
VOICEOVER: Our next two couples, Eden and Jayden,
and Natalie and Collins,
have been matched and are ready to enter this year's experiment.
Still to come.
I dreamt about this moment all of my life.
Oh, nup. I tripped. (BLEEP)
Marking. (SNAP!)
(LAUGHS)
(DOG BARKS) (BLEEP)
An unforgettable wedding...
..worth waiting for.
Takes such a long time.
The wedding of Natalie and Collins has arrived.
And like any sophisticated groom,
Collins is doing the final touches.
Lint.
Every single little dot.
There we go.
I'm about to get married,
and I've never been in a relationship,
so I'm feeling anxiety,
nauseousness - the whole shebang.
But at the same time, I know I'm ready for love.
I'm excited to meet her.
There is a level of intrigue-ness, if that's a word.
Oh, now it is.
(LAUGHS)
Gettin' married! (LAUGHS)
Meanwhile, Natalie is preparing for her fairytale wedding.
Today's theme for getting married
is Princess becomes Queen.
So we're thinking like Princess Elsa to Queen Elsa.
I'm not your typical girl.
I am a bit of a geek,
and hopefully my forever husband
likes that side of me.
I've been really looking forward to this day.
And yeah, I just want to make sure
I don't fall down the aisle.
And helping Natalie get ready for her special day
are her mum, Louise, and sister, Becky.
How are you going?! Good.
Sorry.
Hello, Mummy! Hello, darling!
YOU look GREAT! Look at you guys.
Thank you. And we've got Dad with us here.
Yeah. Oh, you've got all of us.
Look at Dad there. He looks so happy.
I know. He also always thought you were, you know,
destined for a crazy adventure.
But I get that from him! You get that from him!
Dad was really adventurous.
(LAUGHTER)
My dad's mentality was always,
give yourself 100% to what you set your heart to.
I want love and I want to find that adventure.
Dad would have said, "Just go for it."
And he would have said, "I'm proud of you."
Getting married.
I'm nervous. But as long as you keep going forward, right.
Keep moving forward.
Walt Disney.
Let's do this, mate.
It's so wild.
I'm about to get married, and I've never been in a relationship.
But...
..I came with this experiment to find love.
So bring it on.
(GIGGLES)
Guys! Good myself!
Hey. How you goin'?
Collins, um, has not had any relationship,
but I'm just so...
I feel so blessed to be here,
and I'm really happy for him.
I just feel so positive.
Hello. How are you? I'm Collins. Hi.
Ooh! Here we are.
Oh, my God.
With all of what we've been through the last few months,
I feel like I needed this circuit breaker.
Yeah. And it's going to be a big change.
but I'm not really feeling nervous at all.
Even though we're getting closer.
I just...I feel like it's all been a bit of a fairy tale.
I'm feeling really confident and beautiful.
I would love to have love all throughout
my life and the rest of my life.
I've... Yeah. Fall in love 100% and go for it.
You've got to jump into the darkness
to see if the light will come and shine through.
That's when love can triumph.
Oh, no, I tripped. (BLEEP)
Yep.
Marking... (SNAP!)
(LAUGHS)
(DOG BARKS) (BLEEP)
(CROW CAWS)
So what now?
You're doing it. Just keep doing it.
Mm. Oh, OK.
I've dreamt about this moment all of my life.
It has just been such a big lead up to this big day.
It's time to...time to do something for myself.
Time to do something to change my life.
And I'm so excited where this chapter will lead me.
I will give this 110%.
Do we have mic tape? The sports tape?
Because I can tape my foot.
(ROMANTIC MUSIC)
VOICEOVER: Finally with her beloved brother Jimmy by her side.
The stage is now set for Natalie's grand entrance.
(LAUGHS)
(BLEEP)
Oh, my God. Once again, I tripped, but I didn't fall.
It's hard when you're walking on grass
and you're trying to wait for him to turn around.
I don't know if he saw it.
He might have seen it,
but if he did, then he knows that I'm just a bit...
A bit of a dork, a bit goofy.
Hey! Hi.
How are you? I'm good. I'm so good.
What was your name? Collins.
Collins? Natalie.
Nice to meet ya! Hi!
Oh, my God.
Her smile's just...
..just so joyous.
And my nerves just went... (IMITATES WHOOSHING) ..gone.
How you feeling? Excited.
Yeah. Let's do this. I know! Oh, my goodness.
He's super cute.
Oh, my goodness. Collins is...
He's really cute and very handsome.
Are you from Sydney?
I've been here for two months, but I'm a Perth boy.
WA born and bred. Yeah. Melbourne-born.
Are you into the footy? Yes.
AFL? Yeah.
Essendon. Oh, my God!
Wow!
No way! There's no way!
Alright, we're going.
Mum!
Are you actually? Yeah!
(GIGGLES)
Yay!
Are you serious? That's amazing. It's a match!
Alright.
Family and friends,
welcome to the wedding of Natalie and Collins.
Wow. Here we are.
Things closest to my heart are the people here today.
The Essendon Football Club.
WOMAN: Oh, no! Oh, YES!
And seeing others happy.
I'm really looking forward to this journey
and to hopefully have your name on that list as well.
I'm someone that likes to have fun,
doesn't take life too seriously,
spontaneous and always up for anything.
I've never been in a relationship, but I want love.
The feeling that you can't describe or you had no idea existed.
If you've never had it, love feels like an inside joke.
You just had to be there. And that's what I'm doing today.
Awwww.
I'm definitely ready to be his first relationship.
This will be so much fun.
I think I've got the right attitude towards it.
I'm glad he let me know.
Yeah, I reckon I can...
Hi, I'm Natalie, your wife-to-be in a matter of moments.
In this bold endeavour of getting married at first sight,
I stand before you...
(WOLF-WHISTLE) ..ready to embrace the unknown...
Yay!
I think that was for us. Woohoo!
(LAUGHS) In this...
..in this unconventional union,
we are presented with an opportunity to craft
a love story that defies expectations.
I like that. Sounds good.
I'm quite a dork and I hope you laugh at my lame jokes.
So good.
As you probably have noticed,
(VOICE BREAKS)..my dad wasn't here to walk me down the aisle today...
..um...as I said goodbye to him for the final time a few weeks ago.
He's here in my heart,
and I'm sure he would ask you to be a man true of his words.
And he would probably ask if you're an Essendon supporter.
(LAUGHTER)
I offer you my hand, my heart and unwavering commitment.
In this grand experiment of love I choose you,
as long as you promise to come along to the Tay Tay concert.
Oh, my God.
I got tickets.
Oh, really? Oh, my God.
Yes, I did! Who were you meant to me taking?
Sorted. Sorted. (LAUGHS)
(LAUGHTER)
With all that I am and all that I have,
I pledge to be your Player 2 in this extraordinary adventure.
Come here. Awww.
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Kiss? Lips or cheek.
Which one? Lips? You may kiss.
(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)
That's a good lady.
That's a really, really good lady.
Oh, Nikki. Of course.
Hey! Get around it.
We are going.
Nikki. Isn't it Nikki?
No. What is it? Nikki?
It is!
No. What did... I was so in the moment.
It is Nikki, isn't it? No.
Oh, my God, it's Natalie. Holy crap!
(CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY)
Today's the day.
I'm so excited. I don't want to wait any longer.
Like, it's been weeks. Months.
Friggin'... It's been 26 years.
I just want someone who loves love as much as I do,
and who wants to develop a relationship
into something special.
I just...I can't wait to meet her.
Just the first time touching her hand.
The first kiss.
Just like all the little things, you know.
Like, it's the little things that count.
It's the smile. It's their eyes.
That's what gets me.
(LAUGHS) It's true.
Absolute teddy bear. But that's me.
Take it or leave it.
I'm just hoping she doesn't judge and make assumptions about me.
Like, obviously a lot of other people have in my life.
She'll see that I'm not all that I might appear on the surface.
VOICEOVER: After remaining single since The Betrayal by her
best friend and ex-partner four years ago,
Eden is nervously preparing to enter the experiment
with the help of friend and make-up artist Lily.
I feel like this is a dream and this isn't really happening.
Yeah, it does feel a little bit like that.
I don't think it's quite hit me yet, but it's a lot.
You have been hurt in the past and I, you know, it actually,
like, makes me very like emotional to talk about.
Oh, my God, stop it! You are so loyal to your friends.
And I feel like with a partner, you are loyal to the end.
Oh, my God, she's making me cry.
Oh! Let me get you a tissue.
No, it's true. Like, you deserve...
Yeah. You know, you've been through a lot.
and you have this very tough exterior.
Yeah, I do.
And you're like a little marshmallow inside.
Clearly. Yeah!
Everyone that knows you loves you.
It speaks volumes about the person that you are.
Yeah. And he's going to love you.
(SOBS)
We've seen her being treated poorly in past relationships,
and I don't want to see
all of this love that she has to give go to waste.
Really good friends are hard to find,
and someone that has your back no matter what,
is always in your corner.
To see her be a friend like that.
Imagine what kind of wife she will be.
And I hope that the person that marries her
knows how special they are.
She deserves the very best and I hope that's what she gets.
I'm worried about allowing someone in again...
..but I think I'm ready to be thrown in the deep end.
And hopefully fall in love.
Oh, my God. It's so beautiful.
(GROANS)
His heart will be beating outside his chest right now.
He would be freaking.
Ohhhh, crap. The nerves are starting to kick in.
I am so, so friggin' anxious.
It's not even funny.
I don't know if she's gonna like me at all.
I don't know if she's going to be attracted to me.
Awwww, shit.
Shit, shit, shit.
I'm on my way to get married to a complete stranger,
and I'm hoping with everything in my heart that
she's going to be the one that I spend the rest of my life,
with my first and only marriage.
But with that comes a lot of nerves and a lot of almost like insecurity.
Shit.
I'm definitely misunderstood by most girls that I meet.
Just hoping that I'm not going to be judged.
And she's going to think, "He's a boxer and he's heartless"
"and he doesn't have the ability to love,"
because that's not me at all.
Lot of heartbreak in the past,
but it comes to an abrupt halt today.
As soon as she walks down the aisle,
I'm hoping I've found my person forever.
Is he here? Oh, here he comes.
How's everyone? WOMAN: Hey.
Howdy.
Hey.
Should we say hello? (WOMEN GIGGLE)
Hi! Hey.
Hello.
He is nervous.
He's shitting himself.
Sorry. I've been super nervous.
Oh, yeah. You will be fine.
There's definitely a soft side to Jayden.
He's definitely got a fear of rejection.
Were you this nervous, bro?
He's definitely been a little bit worried
that maybe she won't be into him.
Maybe she won't like the fact that he does fighting as a career.
I remember my wedding like it was yesterday.
It takes me back. Takes me back to Ella.
Takes me back to the experiment.
Takes me back to everything. It's very nostalgic.
Oh, I'm nervous for him.
Big thing that I'm thinking of is like, you know,
when you turn around and you see your wife for the first time,
that is such a huge thing.
Wow.
You smell really good.
The only words of advice to him I gave him was just be positive,
be honest and trust the process - something that I didn't do.
Ella was a great person, but looking back on it now,
I wish I did trust it a little bit more
and just poured my heart out
and was being more honest and all those things.
You stay composed.
You'll be fine. You look... You look good.
Keep reminding yourself that you deserve to find love.
And this is your time. It's all happening.
It's all happening.
Oh, golly.
I'm holding your hand. I was like...
It's happening. Yeah. Holy Lord.
I think the betrayal
of a lot of people involved in my past situation
has meant that I do sometimes keep people at arm's length.
Because I've been afraid to be in that same position again.
But I'm hoping to start a different story today.
With my husband.
The dream scenario
is that the guy at the end of the aisle is loyal.
Someone who can make me feel comfortable.
Jayden, turn around and face me, please, mate.
I need someone I feel safe around. Someone I can trust.
Wow.
Yeah. When I saw her walking down the aisle,
I was like, "Ooosshhh!"
Yeah. She's stunning.
Hi. How are you? Very good. How are you?
Good. Thank you. Eden. Jayden.
Lovely to meet you.
You look amazing. Thank you. You too.
Hello. (GIGGLES)
You smell nice.
Thank you. You're welcome.
Her eyes. Her eyes are insane.
And they're looking into your soul, almost.
You know, there's so much depth to see in them.
(GIGGLES) Then her smile.
She's definitely my type.
I'm super nervous.
Me too. How are you feeling?
I was hoping you were less nervous than me to make me feel better.
Not a great time. Oh, I'm dying!
I think my grin says it all, doesn't it?
(CHUCKLES)
He's, like, tall and he's super handsome and he's stunning.
He's definitely my type. Yeah.
What do you do for work?
Uh...
..I'm a kickboxer. Yeah. Nice.
Oh, no.
So...
Yeah.
Good afternoon, everyone. And welcome to you all.
You are gathered here today
to celebrate the wedding of Eden and Jayden.
I invite you to look at one another and remember this moment in time.
You will now make your vows to each other.
Eden.
I'm first.
OK.
It may be controversial to say,
but I don't believe in love at first sight.
I believe that love is earned.
I believe that true love between two people is a privilege
that is developed from trust and respect for one another.
I had some really challenging relationships in the past,
and since then, I have struggled to figure
out what it is that I want in a person.
My trust can be hard to gain,
but I have placed that trust
in the hands of the experts
who have led me to you.
I can't wait to discover everything about you
and what led you to this very moment.
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, though,
I should let you know that you aren't the only man in my life.
I have a four-year-old golden retriever called Cub.
Yes! (LAUGHTER)
And he is my whole entire world.
So I hope that you're OK with being number two.
(LAUGHS)
All I can ask from you now is that you'll spend your
nights with me going for strolls at sunset...
..eating frozen yogurt and looking at pictures of my dog.
(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)
Ten!
Wow. She's amazing.
I could just tell that she's a very headstrong, switched-on woman
and, you know, she's got her things together and she's obviously,
you know, she's got some standards about her.
That was great. It was OK.
Really good. That was good. That was good.
Thank you.
Eden, I stand here today as a man who is ready to dive
into the unknown waters of this experiment,
in hope of finding my soulmate.
The girl of my dreams
and the person who I spend the rest of my life with.
Physically, I will hold you close.
Cherishing the touch of our souls.
Emotionally, I promise to be vulnerable,
open and sharing the depths of my feelings with complete honesty.
I live a life that is considered by most
a unique, roller-coaster lifestyle.
And it has caused me to be misjudged and wrongly labelled.
Beyond my work, I am nothing more than like Cub,
a big softy who adores cuddles, snuggles and back tickles.
(LAUGHTER)
A long, fruitless and failed journey in search of love,
full of heartbreak, disappointment
and letdowns along the way...
..has led me to this extraordinary moment,
standing face-to-face with the person
that I can already see will be the woman hopefully holding my hand
on my last breath. Oh.
This is not on the cards, but, um...
..you say you don't really know what you're looking for in a partner,
and so hopefully we can find that out together.
Aww. Thank you.
That's so sweet!
His vows were really deep and emotional
and they were really sweet.
I think someone that's, like, soft on the inside...
..is important.
I really liked that. He's amazing.
It brings me great joy to now pronounce you as married.
Eden and Jayden...
..you may now kiss.
(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)
She's got very soft lips.
I was very excited with that.
Yeah.
Alright. Sweet. Let's go.
(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)
Good luck, mate!
Is it obvious?
Yeah, it is pretty obvious. I like her.
VOICEOVER: Coming up...
Wanna to come outside for a quick chat?
Yeah. Let's go.
..Jayden's insecurities make an unwanted appearance.
I got the vibe that she didn't really like me.
Really? I'm just so used to being judged.
I like Eden and I want things to work out,
but I'm in the complete dark about everything
and it is killing me.
(PLEASANT MUSIC)
After an eventful ceremony and ankle injury,
Natalie and Collins attempt to coordinate their photo shoot.
MAN: Collins, put your hand in her back
and she can do a little dip and show off the dress.
A dip?
It just might be my ankle, that's all.
So you'll just show off your muscles, Collins.
Have you got me?
I have, but I'm scared about this dip.
Are you sure? It's OK.
I've got you.
Yeah, I know you got me.
Yeah. Of course. OK. How'd you do it?
Just then? What?
That's why I was late. Are you serious?
Yeah. I was walking. Doing the walk and then fell.
What?!
You could say that I FELL for you.
(LAUGHS)
MAN: Ladies and gentlemen...
..the newlyweds are about to make their first entrance.
(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)
I'm incredibly happy.
Have a seat. Oh, thank you, hubby.
Should we just scoot together a little bit more?
Let's do it.
And I'm enjoying getting really close.
Really keen to get a bit more touch on him.
Oh, you can... ..you can warm me there.
I'm cold as well. You're cold as hell!
I'm really cold.
I feel like I'm really myself around him...
..and it's really nice.
I don't mind Nat or Natalie. Yes.
Either/or... as long as I'm not late to dinner.
(LAUGHTER)
Oh, God.
Yes.
I'm full of dad jokes.
Would you say you're a bit of a dork?
Ooh. A dork. Would you say you're a dork?
Mm! Oh.
Big dork.
Yeah. OK.
She's a dork.
Would you say I'm a dork? I don't think I'm a dork, right?
Yes. Absolutely. Yes.
Oh my goodness, that's so cute.
I don't even know what that means.
Is that like a thank you or...
Sure. (LAUGHS)
Ooh, favourite band? Green Day.
Green day? Yeah. You too.
Seen them live eight times. Oh, wow.
And she's got to be on stage with them.
I'm the main character.
(LAUGHS) The main...
Got to rub shoulders with all these famous people.
I'm like, just wait a year
and then you'll all be fawning over me.
(THEY LAUGH)
For sure.
Oh.
Could you repeat that?
Mmm! Bread.
It is delicious. (EATS NOISILY) The dream.
Mm-hm. The dream.
Look, I said my initial one was I did not
want to look too far into her head.
I hope she's this, this and this and this.
But as we kept going more and more and more into conversation,
there was just so much energy.
What? Yeah.
Not a spring chicken. Yeah.
Alright, I'll put you in line. Ha-ha!
He is in for... Oh, you're in for a good surprise.
Wow!
And an energy matched up to me, if not more!
(LAUGHS)
So two matching energies. Does it just keep going up-up-up-up-up?
My answer to that is...
Yeah! In touch with...
..the finer things.
I'm thinking, "Whoa! OK."
This is a lot. This is a lot.
Oh, this old thing.
So we're committed.
Mr I've Never Been in a Relationship Before.
There you go. Yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no.
Yeah. Well played. Well played. Never.
Oh, I can teach you a few things. Thank you. Perfect, perfect.
I guess because I've never been in a relationship
all of this is really, really unfamiliar territory with me.
So...
The bar is set at me.
I've never really thought about...
Can two people have the same amount of energy
and be on the same page to build romance,
to be intimate with someone?
Oh, that is so much fun.
It's everything I wanted. Yeah.
There's a lot of thoughts going on right now.
But...just rolling with it. Yeah.
I don't know. I really...
I don't know.
This is gonna be so fun. Yes!
That's right.
Please put your hands together for the newlyweds,
Eden and Jayden. (APPLAUSE, CHEERING)
VOICEOVER: Despite an obvious and instant attraction
at the wedding ceremony,
Jayden's fears about being judged
have planted a seed of doubt about his new wife's feelings.
Just on first impressions,
I'm not quite sure if she's that into me.
This is really uncomfortable.
I feel like everyone wants to listen to our conversation too.
I'm worried she's already judged me.
I get judged a lot.
If it's something that I'm not,
people just straight away think that I'm this tough guy.
But, um, I'm hoping that she'll give me
the chance to sort of prove to her that's not entirely who I am.
Do you drink?
I'll have one or two, but I don't really drink.
What about you? Rarely?
Yeah. Yeah, that's good.
I literally said, "I don't like when people party all the time
"because I don't." Yeah.
You guys are both from the Gold Coast.
How far away are you from each other?
Maybe ten...probably ten minutes. Yeah.
Ten minutes? Ten minutes from each other?
You've never bumped into each other?
I don't go out, though. That's strange.
He said he doesn't drink either. I know, yeah.
Yeah. Good. So good.
Oh, my God, we're so happy for you.
Yeah. It's great. It's so beautiful.
I feel like you're literally
a boy and girl version of each other,
and it's freaking me out.
Why? Because I can't dance!
Um...can you dance?
Because, you know, we have to do a first dance.
I can't even move in this dress.
I feel like I'm the most nervous for that, for sure.
Here's a tactic.
I'll grab the dress and hold in one hand from behind
with my arm around you, and the hand on it.
Yes. Tactics. We got the tactics down pat.
Oh, this is really sweet. I know.
I didn't know what I was going to feel today seeing Jayden,
but he honestly seems like a really genuine guy.
Jayden so far gets the bestie tick of approval.
He has been nothing but a gentleman.
Tick-tick-tick.
You finish your meal yet, Spray?
Not yet.
Do you want to come outside for a quick chat?
Yeah. Let's go. I'm in trouble again.
You good?
She seems good, man. Everything about her seems pretty great.
Her friends are awesome. Bro...
How are you feeling?
Bro. What?
Bro, she doesn't party. She doesn't drink.
Wow. She loves walks.
She's got a golden retriever.
Really?
She's literally a female version of me.
Ticks every box.
And she's, like, stunning. She's a gorgeous girl.
And she's got her head screwed on. That's what I said.
Probably the only bad thing is, like when you meet a girl,
you can tell straight away whether they like you or not.
Straight away. Yeah, right.
I got the vibe that she didn't really like me.
I'll be back. Really?
Yeah. He's (BLEEP) great.
Happy? Yeah.
He's a doll. Yeah, he literally is.
He's such a doll. Yeah.
I got the vibe that she wasn't as excited about me
as I was about her.
Well, look, she made it quite clear in her speech that
obviously she doesn't believe in love at first sight.
I think she probably wants to get to know you a little bit more.
Yeah.
He seems great. He seems like such a gentleman as well.
Um, which is so nice.
It's nice to see you a little bit giddy as well.
Blushing. Yeah.
I wonder what him and Mitch are talking about.
I wish I could eavesdrop.
It's rare, but if I like a girl,
then I'll get the feels pretty quick.
Yeah, and I don't know if it's just because of having so many
strangers around that maybe she's just a bit standoffish.
I think that's what it is. Yeah.
I think Jayden's just not really too sure of
himself when it comes to relationships.
He's definitely got a fear of rejection.
It's all relatively new. She's probably nervous.
Yeah.
I could tell there was an initial spark with Eden and Jayden.
The chemistry is there.
So I think Jayden just needs to trust the process.
Open up and give it his everything.
You're off to a great start,
so just don't overthink it.
I think I'm just worried because I like Eden.
I want things to work out.
I'm in the complete dark about everything and it is killing me.
VOICEOVER: Despite a romantic ceremony,
Jayden is still wondering whether Eden is into him or not,
so he's taken the opportunity for some alone time
to clear the air.
Um, yeah. Today, walking up when we're at the altar.
Yeah. And you coming up.
Yeah.
You want me to be completely honest with you?
Yeah. Yeah. OK.
Yeah. Um, I thought... If that's where we're going with it.
Yeah. Um...so when you walked up
and after, like, the first few interactions
and holding hands and all that,
I thought, "I don't think this girl likes what she sees
"as much as I like what I saw." Oh, my god. No. Stop it.
That's not true at all.
I straight away, as I said when I walked down, as soon as I saw you,
I was like, "I just feel so much better about the whole situation."
Because, like, I don't know, it'd be the worst thing ever
if you walked up and you were like...you just look at the person,
and you're like, "Nah." But yeah, I wasn't like that at all.
I was like, he's stunning and he's lovely.
Now I'm like... (SIGHS) "Yes!"
Throughout pretty much the whole day,
I was very unsure of whether she was into me
as much as I was into her.
You never know because it's like it could be...
It could be just nothing. Could be reading into it a lot.
No, you were reading into it.
You're always going to have those questions.
You know, I think especially coming into an experiment like this
where you are getting matched with a complete stranger.
But we cleared up that.
Yeah, I'm feeling really confident and really happy now.
Cheers to that! Cheers to the two glasses of water.
(GIGGLES) Yeah.
I think it's funny when Jayden said he wasn't sure
if I was into him and I was like, no, I definitely am.
Let's do it.
I'm often told that I have a bit of a hard exterior
and I'm very composed,
so it's quite hard to read me,
but it feels like we're both on the same page,
and that gives me a lot of confidence going
into a honeymoon tomorrow.
It is time for your first dance. (GUESTS APPLAUD)
Yeah. I'm gonna hold here. Ready? Yeah. OK.
(SINGS) I'll be loving you.
(CONTINUES SINGING) (LAUGHTER)
I practiced for this.
I definitely didn't practice anything.
I would sum up today as perfect.
It was ten out of ten.
(GUESTS HOOT AND CHEER)
I think Jayden is trying to show me
that he has all the qualities that I'm looking for,
and so far, it seems like he does.
You twirl back in. I twirl back in?
I'm so hopeful about the future with Jayden.
Look.
I'm watching Jayden and Eden dance,
and they just look like they've been together for...for years.
(LAUGHS)
Obviously, it gives me flashbacks to my wedding day
and how Ella and I were.
It brought back a lot of feelings, you know?
It is bittersweet. Definitely.
Ella was a great person.
She's a beautiful girl and I have a huge amount of regret.
But Jayden and I are very, very different.
He's gonna go all the way
and he's gonna give it all his time, all his love,
all his energy, blood, sweat and tears and just go for it,
when it comes to this relationship with Eden.
And this one, you... You got one hand over here. Like that.
Yeah? (CHEERING AND LAUGHTER)
I genuinely feel like this is something special.
I don't fall very often for a girl, but when I do, it's fast.
And that's what we're looking at with Eden.
(GUESTS CLANG TABLEWARE) ALL: Kiss! Kiss!
(APPLAUSE AND CHEERING)
(WILD APPLAUSE AND CHEERING)
Yeah, without speaking too soon, she...hopefully the one.
Yeah. Come on, everyone, join in. Everyone join in.
Let's go, let's go. Let's go, let's go.
Bring it in.
VOICEOVER: Next... Can I hold your hands?
We can be a little bit dorky together.
..is Natalie's big dork energy?
Will you be Player One to My Player Two?
..proving too much for Collins?
Nat is really, really there. Probably more there than me.
It can be a lot. It can be a lot.
And later...
(READS) "The next step of married life is your honeymoon.
"Immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters of the Whitsundays."
How good.
..as our two newlyweds get ready for their honeymoons,
has Collins put the brakes on...
Before we get going, I just want to have a chat with you.
..before they've even taken off?
Can I have a couple of minutes to compose myself?
I don't want to look like I've just been crying.
VOICEOVER: While Natalie is over-the-moon with her new husband,
her big dork energy is proving to be overwhelming
for inexperienced groom Collins.
I think I've met the man of my dreams.
Oh, can I, can I hold your hands? Is that OK?
I feel like this has been such a special day.
Yeah.
Wow.
I like someone who's a bit silly.
And I think, Collins, we can be a little bit dorky together,
which makes me feel ooey-gooey inside.
Thank you for coming on this experiment.
And, yeah, you're going to be living with me.
Oh, my God. Yeah!
So just...you gotta communicate,
you got to let me know if something is not quite right.
I just need to know how you... what makes you tick.
In my vows, I sort of pledged to be your, like, Player Two
to Player One in life. Yep.
Um, I wanted to give you something
to kind of signify that I meant it.
So I actually got two necklaces.
That's two half controllers of Player One and Player Two.
They also join together with a magnet.
No.
So will you be my Player One to my Player Two?
Wow.
Wow.
What a day. What a day.
Collins. John.
Good to see you. You too. How are you?
I'm good. Come and grab a seat. Thank you, thank you.
When I met Collins, I instantly loved
his warmth and his infectious energy.
However, when it came time
for him to dig deep and expose himself and his vulnerabilities,
he had a tendency to deflect
and almost become performative
to avoid telling me what he really thought.
Of the experiment and all the things that get thrown at you, Collins,
what's the most daunting part of it for you?
Because you haven't had a relationship?
Ooh, daunting.
We do honeymoons.
We get you to move in together.
What part of it do you think is going to
take you most out of your comfort zone?
All of those things you said, I have no issue.
That's all... That's good fun.
That's rolling with it, getting around it.
I try not to think too much about it.
As long as she's happy, I'll be happy.
If it works out, it's going to work out.
Yeah, I'll tell you. That's...
OK, Collins. Yeah.
Enough. (SIGHS)
Enough.
You're giving me a lot of words,
but you're not telling me anything, OK?
I need to know the real Collins. Yeah.
The challenge for Collins in this experiment
will be to drop the mask,
be honest, and find comfort in the uncomfortable.
(CHUCKLES) What a day.
What a d... (SIGHS)
I'm so excited.
Like, we're gonna have so many gaming nights.
Yeah.
Mmm.
Am I allowed to ask... are we having one bed?
Are we... Where are we going? Are we going to a...
Look, we all get caught up in the moment.
as human beings.
I just got married.
What a day, what a day.
It's the morning after the weddings
and Eden and Jayden are waking up to married life.
EDEN: Good morning. JAYDEN: Good morning.
I feel like the dynamic between Jayden and I is amazing.
Yeah, there's definitely an initial spark,
and I feel like we get along so well.
You're so good. I'm so hungry.
You hungry? Yes. Definitely.
Need a big breakfast this morning.
Yeah. Absolutely.
No. No romance.
Yeah. He I think likes to be respectful.
And it's the first night we met,
but we did have a bit of a cuddle before we went to bed.
(GIGGLES) Me blushing?
Oh, God.
Eden and Jayden. You do the honours.
You sure? Yeah.
(READS) "Congratulations on your big day yesterday,
"and we hope you enjoyed your first night as husband and wife.
"The next step of married life is your honeymoon, of course.
"Immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters of the Whitsundays."
Yay! How good!
Enjoy the aspect. Whitsundays!
Stoked with that. So good. Stoked.
I'm excited now. Yes. Me too.
Have you packed yet? Yeah.
'Cause I haven't even started. Oh, you need to get to it.
You finish eating and I'm going to go pack and get ready.
Yeah, go for it.
VOICEOVER: For our other couple,
Natalie's energy level has shifted
after her and Collins slept in separate beds.
Day two.
Sleeping in the separate bedrooms was Collins' idea.
Day two. But, um, I did want a few cuddles,
so...yeah, I missed him a little bit.
(CHUCKLES)
I feel the spark there
and I really want to explore that romantic connection.
So looking forward to honeymoons
and seeing where we go from there.
VOICEOVER: But for Collins, it was a restless night.
OK.
6:30.
First few hours, I'm just lying down in bed looking at the roof,
thinking, "Whoa, that just happened.
"That just happened."
I didn't go on a second date.
I didn't go on a third date.
I just got married.
I just got married to someone I've never met.
And I'm just...
Again. It's my energy and her energy.
And this is the first time
I'm with someone who's matching, if not giving more.
So yeah, it can be a lot. It can be a lot.
Collins!
And I can tell Nat is really, really there.
Probably more there than me.
Oh, my goodness.
I should have been honest to Nat
last night about how I feel.
Oh, that's so cute.
And seeing how much this means to her,
it almost adds more to an expectation.
(READS) "Good morning newlyweds!
"We hope you enjoyed every minute
"of your first day as husband and wife."
Let's go.
I'm out of my comfort zone and I have to take my time with this.
Yep. I think that's fair.
"You'll be fast-tracking married life on the sands of Broome.
"Enjoy. Love, the Experts."
Awesome! Fantastic! Let's go.
I will need to pack a hat.
Hey, um, before we get going, I just want to have a chat with you.
Yeah. Of course. Let me just...
Yesterday was an insane, insane day
and it was such a feeling of peace
knowing that I'm with someone on that same journey
and on the same mindset.
But now waking up today day two, it's kind of hit a little bit more.
And I just want to let you know that I'm in this wholeheartedly.
But at the same time,
this is really, really unfamiliar territory for me.
And I just...I know that it's going to take time for me,
this situation, this feeling won't be immediately.
So I just want to say that I'm... A slow burn.
Yeah, a real slow burn, day by day. But I'm just excited.
Let's just get to know each other. Yeah.
Let's go to WA.
Shall we? Let's go.
Alright. I'll meet you back down in five.
Goin' to WA! Yes!
Um, can I have a couple of minutes to compose myself?
I don't want to look like I've just been crying.
Honeymoon.
Um, no, I'm not feeling quite ready. (CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY)
VOICEOVER: Tomorrow night...
..the honeymoons are in full swing.
We just get along so well.
It feels like I've known him forever.
As romantic sparks...
The honeymoon life suits us. ..start to form.
Could I give you a goodnight kiss?
Awwww. That's so sweet.
But the arrival of the honeymoon box...
Argh! This is my worst nightmare.
..will expose some uncomfortable...
Do you feel any sexual chemistry with me?
..and hard truths.
I didn't even want to sleep with you.
And...
All I've ever wanted is to get married and start a family.
But I've had to cancel one wedding before.
That was the hardest thing to go through.
..a brave bride's second chance at love.
Hi!
Wow.
But will her overprotective cousin...
Why are you here?
I have concerns.
..derail the entire wedding?
I don't believe them.
