yards of material per 12 -hour shift.

We've got to get a stockpile so we have
enough cater to keep running 24 hours a

day. So Tyson and I are both running
excavators here, bailing material as

But obviously not having Brennan here
this year has put a lot of stress on

Lucifer is Parker's only working wash
plant.

Every hour down costs almost $4 ,000 in
unmined gold.

Look at the weather here. It's cold. The
ground isn't thawing like we need it

to.

We just don't have enough thawed pay to
be able to keep things running here 24

hours a day.

So we're just going to run it on a night
shift.

During the day, we're going to remove
every bit of thaw that we can, stockpile

it so we can try and get enough.

as much gold at the end of the week.

We need sunshine and warm days here to

-rich claims.

The final decision on Indian River is
due in four days.

The piggy bank is in the river.

So, I don't say every day counts, but in
reality, you're really a duck.

To get a step ahead, Tony's moving his
monster machines to the Indian.

First up, the $1 .1 million 950
excavator, the biggest in the Yukon.

Everyone of us got 950.

We can't put it on a rack of a low boy
for 100 tons.

So that's why I bought this thing. Now I
think it's time to try it out.

See if this thing starts up. How do you
start it?

At $100 ,000, the rear -steer Columbia
low boy is a gamble due to its age.

This low boy, this old, was built in
1965.

I happened to see this trailer on the
auction sale, and I decided...

that for us moving stuff back and forth
to the Indian River, we needed a bigger

low boy.

The 950 excavator weighs 100 tons and is
too wide for a standard low boy.

If we can load up the 950 on this and
bring it down to the Indian River

having to take it apart, that would be
bonus.

Because, you know, by the time we take
out the counterweight, take out the

bucket, boom, stick.

and load her back up, that's a lot of
commotion. It would be so nice if we can

just drive her on, eyeball her down the
road, drive her off, and go to work.

It turns three -day operation into a one
-day one. Yeah.

This contraption is supposed to steer
it, so we'll just see what it'll do.

For the yard's heavy load specialists,
youngest son Mike beats an old hand Len

Hoekstra. This is their first time
driving a rear steer.

So instead of taking it in three bites,
we're pretty much going to be making

zone one and two one zone?

I mean, we just need more surface area,
right? Yeah. Because if we're only

getting a couple inches of thaw a day
and this isn't enough, this is going to

double the amount.

Mitch's plan is simple.

He's divided the airstrip cut into three
zones.

Each has been stripped of overburden,
and as they're mined, he'll move the

plant to keep it close to the pay.

Zone 1 is frozen, so only one inch of
pay per day can be mined.

To compensate, Zone 2 is opened to
expose more ground to the sun.

Although they'll get enough thawed pay
to the plant, It'll mean double the

runs, wasting time and fuel.

Parker doesn't want to wait.

Yeah. So if you just want to start,
let's start pulling material off cut

We'll get the trucks down there, and
we'll just start trucking it over.

And hopefully we can get enough there to
keep sluice for running.

Other than that, it's sit and wait.

And you and I both know that doesn't
