And so the investigation ends without an indictment.

In Washington today,

a spokesman for the Justice Department said,

"The allegations were not supported by the evidence,"

which is welcome news to the police officers involved.

Nestor Chavez, the student

who was shot resisting arrest, died today.

The police were unable to get

a statement from him for the grand jury.
