Original subtitles

[Narrator] A county in England where strange lights

have been reported for centuries.

A region in Upstate New York

that has been the site of mass UFO sightings.

And a volcano in Colombia

where pilots have reported multiple accounts

of witnessing unidentified anomalous phenomena.

โ™ช โ™ช

By now, the term "UFO" is universally understood to mean

"unidentified flying object."

It describes a variety of phenomena,

from metallic flying disks

to mysterious orbs of light

and even craft the size of football fields.

And there are places around the globe

that seem to have an unusually high occurrence

of anomalous sightings.

These locations have so much activity,

they've earned the name "UFO hot spots."

[Narrator] San Diego. July 15, 2019.

In the middle of an otherwise peaceful night,

the USS Omaha Combat Information Center records

an astonishing event off the coast of Southern California.

An unidentified oval-shaped craft is witnessed

performing mysterious maneuvers in restricted airspace

around a U.S. Navy destroyer.

[Nick Pope] It is an amazing

piece of footage showing a UFO hovering over the sea...

[Pope] ...and then apparently descending into the ocean.

[Narrator] When the footage is leaked to the public

by investigative filmmaker Jeremy Corbell two years later,

its authenticity is quickly confirmed by the Pentagon.

[Corbell] I knew that it would strike a chord.

You can see the structure of the craft being oval or circular.

You can see that it doesn't have these plumes of exhaust

or heat trails or any traditional propulsion.

What you're seeing is a technology

that is so far advanced

from anything that we have ever created

or shown in the theater of war,

which is where we show our greatest technologies.

[Narrator] The strange incident was more than intriguing

to UFO researchers

not only because of how the craft maneuvered

but also because of the area where it appeared.

[Andrew Collins] Off the coast of San Diego in California

is somewhere that UFOs or UAPs

have been appearing regularly for decades.

[Narrator] Since 1995,

more than 1,000 UFO sightings have been reported

in the San Diego area.

[Ralph Blumenthal] All these reports of sightings

were not just made-up.

They can be photographed.

There's something up there and sometimes down in the water

that no one understands.

More and more, the military is acknowledging

that it's interested,

giving credibility to the fact that these things exist.

[Bill Birnes] When you realize that the San Diego naval base

is one of the most restricted naval bases,

restricted areas in the country,

UFOs are flying back and forth over the ships,

over the base.

[Narrator] The number of UFO reports occurring in San Diego

may appear quite significant.

However, it is just one

of several locations around the globe

where similar incidents are often reported and documented.

Locations that have come to be known as UFO hot spots.

A UFO hot spot is a physical space

where sightings of unusual aerial phenomena are common.

There's usually a perceivable unusual energy at the site.

There's been a long history of sightings at these places.

[Collins] UFO hot spots are places where UFOs occur

not just across a few years

but across decades.

And, of course, the question becomes,

you know, why are these places so important?

Why is it that UFOs can appear at them

more frequently than anywhere else?

[Craig Campobasso] Marfa is this mountain range in Texas,

and it's these strange anomalous lights

that nobody has ever been able to figure out.

It's such a hot spot

that the actual state of Texas built a viewing station

where people can stop and rest

and watch the Marfa lights at night.

[Henry] The Bermuda Triangle

is also a well-known hot spot as well.

Wiltshire, England, is another.

Sedona has become a very popular hot spot.

And Skinwalker Ranch in Northern Utah

is an outstanding example of a hot spot.

Native Americans have said for centuries that this

is a place where supernatural UFO activity occurs.

Seems that a large proportion of sightings of UFOs or UAPs

in the modern world do take place at-at hot spots.

[Narrator] The perception of so-called UFO hot spots

emerged in the aftermath

of two of the most highly publicized UFO incidents

in U.S. history,

which both took place in 1947.

On June 24,

near Mount Rainier in Washington State,

pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing

nine saucer-shaped craft flying in a coordinated pattern

at a speed of approximately 1,200 miles per hour.

Just one month later,

the infamous report of a UFO crash took place

in Roswell, New Mexico.

[Linda Moulton Howe] The July 8,

1947, headline

went around the world.

In the Roswell Daily Record--

"Flying saucer crashes into a pasture near Roswell."

You start looking at the timeline

and what was happening through 1947 and beyond.

Our government and other governments

were developing gigantic, huge storage and files

and folders and departments

that were dedicated to the secret study

of UFOs and E.T.s on our planet.

[Narrator] Over the next two decades,

thousands of additional UFO sightings

were reported around the world,

prompting the U.S. government to launch

an investigation into the phenomenon.

The study was given the code name Project Blue Book.

And while the program's official findings were not definitive,

a startling trend appeared in the data.

[Mike Ricksecker] The renowned J. Allen Hynek

of Project Blue Book fame wrote

there's a statistical analysis

that showed when and where these occurrences happened.

And a pattern started to emerge,

such as UFO sightings,

lights in the sky, anomalous activity

in the American Southwest, the Northeast,

the Mississippi Valley.

And UFO researchers took notice of this

and began to flock to those areas to conduct their research.

Researchers in the '50s and the '60s,

they went back through the data,

and sometimes literally they would get out a map

and "X" marks the spot.

And then they would notice,

wait a minute, there are these clusters,

these strange hot spots.

Areas where...

these events seem-seem to pile up

for no apparent reason.

[Birnes] What researchers realized

was that 60% to 70% of UFO sightings in America

turn up in the same spots over and over again.

And they realized

that there was something about those spots

that was drawing UFO.

[Ricksecker] If we're trying to solve a mystery,

you want to go to a location that has the most clues.

And these are the locations that could have the clues

to connect our ancient past to our modern reality

and perhaps give us the answers we're seeking.

Stretching almost 2,500 miles

across the Southern United States

is a mysterious region that is known for UAP sightings,

cattle mutilations, and alien abductions.

In fact, these events are reported with such frequency

that this hot spot has become known

as the UFO Superhighway.

[Narrator] Trinidad, Colorado.

August 22, 2011.

At 11:46 p.m.,

this small town is rocked by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake,

the most powerful to hit Colorado in more than a century.

A little over 12 hours later,

an even more violent 5.8 magnitude earthquake

strikes the area of Piedmont, Virginia.

While the unlikely epicenters of these two seismic events

are 1,400 miles apart from each other,

they both occur along the same line of latitude,

the 37th parallel.

This detail captures the attention

of former sheriff's deputy and UFO researcher Chuck Zukowski

and sparks a revelation

regarding his research into unidentified aerial phenomena

and mysterious animal mutilations.

[Daniel Zetterstrom] The fact that this earthquake activity

lays along the 37th parallel leads Chuck Zukowski

to look at trends and patterns in the data

that he'd been collecting over various investigations.

Chuck found that sightings and phenomena

such as cattle mutilations, various other things

all lined up along this one line

that we refer to as the 37th latitude.

[Ryan Sprague] Chuck Zukowski for many, many years

had been taking down reports of all types of paranormal activity

that were happening both in Colorado

and all the way stretching to Virginia.

And Chuck actually has a sister who is also a UFO researcher.

So he called her up

and they started to look at each of these points

of where all these different UFO

and paranormal activity were taking place.

[Narrator] Zukowski's sister, Debbie Ziegelmeyer,

is the director of the Missouri branch of MUFON,

or the Mutual UFO Network.

Over the years,

the two have amassed data on thousands of UFO sightings.

In 2011,

my brother Chuck called me one evening and we started

pinpointing the different locations on a map.

We have a lot of activity going on,

especially starting with my state of Missouri.

And then we started expanding farther out.

We noticed activity in Colorado.

Then we started spreading farther out.

It turned out that all but one event

was near the 37th parallel.

And we thought, "Well,

this is way bigger than what we thought."

[Narrator] Like all lines of latitude,

the 37th parallel is just 69 miles wide.

So Zukowski and Ziegelmeyer found it extraordinary

that nearly every case they had documented

happened either on or very near this line.

Chuck Zukowski is a highly respected UFO investigator,

uh, with a lot of "boots on the ground" experience,

as is his sister Debbie.

And they presented to the world

the idea that you could draw a straight line

linking all these different incidents at different times--

UFO sightings, abductions,

cattle mutilations, paranormal phenomena.

Of course, it was a real attention-getter.

So the 37th parallel

has become known as a sort of UFO superhighway.

[Narrator] Could a so-called UFO superhighway

really exist along the 37th parallel?

For UFO researchers,

the evidence is highly compelling,

because among the events that Zukowski and Ziegelmeyer cite

are some of the most significant UFO reports on record,

including one of the only encounters

in which a witness lost his life.

[Narrator reads on-screen text]

At Clinton County Army Air Field,

eyewitnesses report seeing a circular object in the sky

that is described as "a flaming red cone

trailing a gaseous green mist."

Alarmed by the sightings,

the Army instructs a squad of airborne F-51D Mustangs

under the command of Captain Thomas Mantell to investigate.

Four fighters led by Captain Mantell were dispatched

to try to follow or intercept this object.

The object was massive.

It was about 300 feet in diameter

and traveling at about 500 miles per hour.

[Sprague] When they attempted to intercept this object,

it was too fast.

And it was also climbing in altitude.

[Zetterstrom] Everyone except Mantell stopped ascending

at a certain point due to problems with oxygen.

Mantell pushed his plane,

climbing higher and higher towards the object.

However, radio contact with Mantell was lost.

[Narrator] According to reports,

as Mantell pursued the UFO,

he lost control of the plane and crashed into the ground.

The Mantell incident is an important one,

and that is because it involves a UFO fatality.

And it was because of this UFO fatality

that the Air Force began Project Blue Book to look into

these UFO incidents.

[Narrator] The Mantell incident occurred over a stretch

of many miles, mostly along the 37th parallel.

With official military involvement,

multiple witnesses, and even a fatality,

the Mantell incident is considered

one of the most compelling UFO encounters ever recorded.

The mystery of the 37th parallel

also includes a UFO incident that occurred 25 years later

and lasted for months.

One of the most fascinating areas

along the 37-degree parallel line is Piedmont, Missouri.

The sightings actually started in 1973.

But the one main sighting that people began focusing on

happened on February 21, to be exact.

Coach Reggie Bones was at a basketball game with his team.

As they were coming back home at about 8:30 at night,

they saw strange lights in the distance.

And they were colored lights flashing.

They saw that the lights weren't just a single pillar in the sky

but were distinct colored lights--

red, green, amber and white.

Other residents in the area also saw the lights.

[Narrator] The Mantell incident and the Piedmont sightings

are just two of hundreds of UFO encounters

that Zukowski and Ziegelmeyer have documented

along the 37th parallel.

Also found along this latitude is Cape Girardeau, Missouri,

where a UFO crash was reported as early as 1941.

And one of the most famous UFO incidents on record,

the 1947 Roswell crash,

occurred just over 100 miles south of this line.

[Tsoukalos] It's pretty amazing to think that two

of the biggest UFO events that essentially kicked off

the modern ufology field,

Roswell and Cape Girardeau,

happened to be on or around the 37th parallel.

So you have to wonder why.

Is it some sort of a supernatural force?

Or could it be something to do with extraterrestrials?

South America is a veritable treasure trove

for the ancient astronaut theory.

The entire continent is loaded with megalithic structures

and mythological traditions

that point to extraterrestrial contact in the distant past.

In addition to this history,

the nation of Chile continues to report

so much anomalous activity

that it has become famous as a UFO hot spot.

[Narrator] Santiago, Chile.

1990.

After a 17-year rule,

Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet steps down...

...ushering in a period of reform across the country.

With a new spirit of government transparency and social freedom,

the media, as well as military personnel,

begin to openly investigate Chile's unrivaled UFO phenomena.

[Hidalgo] Now, when it came to UFOs,

this is not something new in Chile.

In Chile, we have had sightings long before Pinochet.

So, after Pinochet,

when the democracy comes back,

the military forces were making an effort

to change the public opinion about them.

[Narrator] Following the country's newfound openness

to UFO sightings,

control tower personnel observed a flurry

of mysterious aerial activity in Chilean airspace.

Unidentified objects were flying dangerously close

to Chilean aircraft.

I do believe it's our right to know exactly what we are seeing,

what our military is seeing all over the world.

[Narrator] Several notorious near-miss incidents

elevated Chile's UFO activity

from harmless curiosity to an issue of national security.

As a result, in 1997,

the Chilean government instituted

the Committee on Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena,

or CEFAA.

CEFAA started as a result of pilot sightings.

Pilots, navigators,

radar operators

were reporting UFOs.

Some of these objects came dangerously close to aircraft.

The Chilean government decided to act.

So this is unique.

It's government, it's military,

and, importantly, it's the scientific community as well,

all working together with one common aim--

find out what these sightings are.

Who's responsible? What's going on?

[speaking Spanish]

[translated] CEFAA gets reports from all citizens,

from the far north down to Antarctica.

And these reports are made via our website.

In the last 22 years of investigation,

we have received almost 900 reports.

Our process and our manner of looking at these phenomena

has been very rigorous,

because we owe it to our community.

Instead of secrecy and cover-ups and conspiracies,

we have an atmosphere of openness,

where people are almost encouraged

to come forward and report.

The default position of CEFAA

after their investigations is to publish,

release the case files,

tell the people what you've discovered.

This is astonishing and refreshing.

[Narrator] CEFAA insists that governments around the world

should take a similar approach to accelerate our understanding

of these aerial anomalies and reveal their true origin.

[speaking Spanish]

[translated] To us, it is important

that more organizations or institutions or countries

get involved in the study of this phenomenon.

The phenomenon clearly exists.

We don't know exactly if there is only one explanation

for its origin.

Without a doubt, however, when other countries

or other states create institutions like ours,

they contribute to the security of airspace operations.

We have more good documented video evidence out of Chile

than almost any other nation I can think of.

[Narrator] On March 13, 2012,

the Chilean government unveiled footage

of a curious event caught on camera

above the prestigious El Bosque Air Force base in Santiago.

Crowds were gathered to celebrate the change

of Chilean Air Force command in 2010...

[applause]

...recording fighter jets

performing acrobatic maneuvers overhead.

After investigating the footage,

CEFAA concluded that the jets were not alone.

The El Bosque was one that CEFAA was very excited about.

And when they slowed down the videos,

you could see these objects zipping by at incredible speeds.

[speaking Spanish]

[translated] This case acquired notoriety

once the videos were viewed.

In these videos, there was a dark object

that crossed the lines of flight of these squadron formations.

Now, this is where it gets really intriguing,

because the official conclusion

was that this UFO was traveling at a speed

of around 4,000 miles an hour.

The British Isles are home to legends of powerful wizards,

magical swords and flying dragons.

For ancient astronaut theorists like me,

these stories aren't just fairy tales,

they're possibly encounters with extraterrestrial technology.

And today, England is still a UFO hot spot,

where an enormous amount of advanced aerial phenomena

has been documented by alien investigators.

[Narrator] Yorkshire, England.

This historic county

is the largest in the United Kingdom.

Known for medieval abbeys, Norman castles

and stunning national parks,

the vast landscape here is also rich

with legends of strange beings,

bizarre lights in the sky

and even UFOs.

Yorkshire is in Northern England,

and it's a county that is famous

for strange events going back centuries.

Reports of little people,

mysterious lights up in the sky,

people seeing these strange, werewolf-like figures,

Bigfoot-type creatures that come and go.

It's a very strange place.

[Graham Phillips] There is an ancient burial mound

in Yorkshire

called Willy Howe.

And back in the 1200s,

a man had been walking home one night...

...and he saw lights coming out of this mound.

And he went into the mound,

where he saw strange beings.

Fairy folk, if you like.

He claimed to have seen these inside the mound.

[Lynn Picknett] England has a very rich tradition

of fairy folk, um, going back into the mists of time.

And it's interesting, though,

that the way encounters with these fairy folk,

or whatever one might call them,

the way they're expressed is very, very similar

over the years

to descriptions of encounters with aliens.

[Narrator] Reports of mysterious phenomena

in Yorkshire are found

throughout the historical record,

from ancient times right up until the present day.

In an effort to better understand

what has been happening here,

private investigator Paul Sinclair and his team

began researching

and surveilling the area in 2009.

I originally spent a lot of time

on the East and North Yorkshire Wolds,

because farmers in the area

reported seeing the anomalous lights,

the structured-type crafts.

But then, I got speaking to Coast Guard,

fishermen, trawlermen, people walking the coastline,

and they started reporting seeing

strange anomalous lights, UFOs, all manner of things.

Going back through the local archives of the newspapers

reveals that lots and lots of unexplained phenomena

have been seen and are reported there.

Not just in recent times,

not just since I've been researching it,

but going back decades and decades,

there's a long history of strange and anomalous phenomena.

Paul Sinclair has been researching this area

for a very, very long time

and come up with some remarkable video footage

of lights in the sky, UFOs

and everything else you could think of.

[Narrator] Paul and his team set up cameras

around the cliff tops along the North Sea

to try and document the objects seen near the coastline.

During one night in 2020,

what they captured was particularly intriguing.

It were just a typical night by the team.

We go up there, we set up cameras

and we hope that the phenomena might present.

-[Sinclair] There. -And on this occasion, it did.

But these lights, very often, they're a bright amber color.

Or red, or-or white, and, uh,

the white ones that you can see in the film

were actually more of an amber color.

But the lights present as one light

that doesn't fly from anywhere,

and then it punches into a multiple

of four, five and six,

switches off.

So, luckily, we managed to film that little sequence of events

on "Lights Filmed Off Bempton,"

and it's quite exciting when you do actually see

these unexplained phenomena.

[Narrator] Sinclair and his team

have not only captured strange lights above the sea

but have also documented orbs of light

submerged below the surface of the water.

I was walking along the cliff tops with my friend

and former police officer Dave Barnes.

And Dave saw the object rise out of the water.

Stopped momentarily and told me.

I had the camera in hand, started filming,

I think, soon as it started to move.

Now it seems to turn in and drop into the sea.

[Sinclair] So we've got an object that's gone

below the surface, risen from the sea,

traveled six miles and then gone below the surface.

We have footage of objects

beneath the surface of the water,

or luminous light beneath the surface,

and we've no explanation for that.

We've filmed that on three occasions.

Paul Sinclair has got, uh, videos of these UFOs

and lights, you know, going into the water.

So, that makes you wonder,

is there possibly some underwater UFO base

in Yorkshire that has been there for thousands of years?

In the 1980s, a peaceful community in Upstate New York

was transformed into a UFO hot spot

when extraordinary V-shaped objects

were seen flying overhead.

But witnesses didn't just report the strange craft in the sky,

they were equally concerned about bizarre sounds

coming from deep underground.

[Narrator] Kent Cliffs, New York,

New Year's Eve, 1982.

Shortly before midnight in this small town

just north of New York City,

New Year's Eve revelers are struck by the sight

of an unusual aircraft in the sky.

The ship appears to be as large as a commercial jet,

but has a V shape, moves slowly and makes no sound.

The incident is the first in a wave of UFO sightings

that would shake the surrounding area

known as the Hudson Valley.

[Imbrogno] The Hudson Valley is your classic

hot spot.

Here, UFOs appeared from 1983 to 1986,

and was witnessed by thousands of people.

A triangular, boomerang-shape object,

very well lit, flew very low over the community,

and it was photographed, videotaped,

and it was seen from people from all walks of life

who were sure they saw something strange

that was not from this planet.

This caused people to pull off the side of the road

and actually start calling home,

thinking there was some type of an invasion.

And they were executive-- doctors, uh,

scientists and so on, meteorologists,

and they all reported something

that they have never seen before.

[Narrator] Over the span of three years,

officials received more than 9,000 reports

from eyewitnesses describing the same V-shaped craft.

Not only was there a UFO sighting in Hudson Valley

but it came back night after night after night.

[Imbrogno] These are people

who would not normally come forward

to say that they saw a UFO.

[Imbrogno] Yet, what they saw

was so convincing and so frightening to them,

that they went on record to report what they saw.

I mean, it's just amazing.

[Narrator] During the two-year wave

of UFO sightings in the Hudson Valley,

author Philip Imbrogno investigated the area

on behalf of the Center for UFO Studies,

which was founded by J. Allen Hynek

after his work with Project Blue Book.

Imbrogno conducted hundreds of interviews

with residents of the area,

and even witnessed the V-shaped craft himself.

[Imbrogno] This object,

whatever it was-- the size of a football field--

came over the highways and hovered

and, at times, projected down a brilliant beam of white light.

Usually, UFO researchers

don't see the UFO that they're investigating.

I saw this object three times.

So, it was amazing.

[Narrator] As Imbrogno spent months crisscrossing the area,

he noticed something curious:

the volume of mysterious reports during this time

were not only focused on a strange craft in the sky,

but also on bizarre sounds

coming from somewhere deep below ground.

[Henry] People start to wonder, "Why are these hot spots

hot spots?" and one explanation is that

what is actually going on is underneath the ground.

That these hot spots are, in fact, entrances

to vast underground caverns or even secret bases.

[Campobasso] In the Hudson River there,

especially in the '80s,

I spoke to a few researchers,

and they said that the locals used to hear things

coming up from underground,

and they weren't really quite sure what it was,

but they figured there was a base below ground.

A military/alien base.

[Narrator] Arguably, the most famous sighting

in the Hudson Valley hot spot

concerned beings from underground,

as was the case

with best-selling horror novelist Whitley Strieber,

who wrote about his own experience

in his book Communion.

[Strieber] My wife and I had bought a cabin

in the western extreme edge of the whole Hudson Valley.

And in December of 1985,

I woke up in a room, not my bedroom,

in the middle of the night,

and the room was filled with two kinds of figures, these...

willowy figures with big black eyes,

and dark blue short figures.

Then I began to hear a voice say,

"What can we do to help you stop screaming?"

And I thought, "I'm screaming?" and I was screaming.

And the next morning, I woke up

extremely confused and disturbed,

without any real understanding of what happened to me.

[Narrator] While many presume

that Streiber's alien abductors descended from the skies,

in fact, he described them as coming up from below,

and their presence was marked by sounds

deep beneath his mountain cabin.

[Strieber] We used to hear

drilling in-- underground.

[distant pulsing, drilling]

And we could hear this taking place under the cabin.

[Narrator] The idea that hot spots

mark entrances to the underworld

is a phenomenon seen across the planet.

[Childress] This can be what's happening

in, say, Lake Titicaca.

And then you have other places like, say, Mount Shasta,

or certain volcanoes in Mexico,

where UFOs are seen and there's a lot of activity.

When you think about UFO hot spots,

you might picture mysterious orbs

above a thick forest

or along a deserted stretch of highway,

but for the people of the South American country

of Colombia, strange craft in the sky

can be seen in a very unlikely place.

[Narrator] Colombia, January 28, 2020.

An Airbus A320 is cruising at 30,000 feet

on a routine flight en route to Bogotรก.

As it approaches a prominent volcano

called Nevado del Tolima,

the pilot notices something strange in the clouds.

The plane is on autopilot.

When the pilot sees what's out his cockpit window,

he picks up his phone,

and what he filmed was extraordinary.

It's an object zipping along towards his plane.

So the pilot is able to use the close-up on his camera

and sees that the object is actually a flying cube

that is coming towards him and flying right past his plane.

[Narrator] Two years later, in May 2022,

a private pilot also flying near the same Tolima volcano

captures footage of a metallic diamond-shaped object

speeding past his aircraft.

And the next year,

a passenger on board a flight from Bogotรก to Salento

films a metallic, orb-like object in the same location.

Three incredible UFO videos in just four years,

all shot near Nevado del Tolima.

These are three extraordinary videos of UFOs.

In fact, one has been called the best UFO video of all time.

All three were taken in broad daylight.

All three show what could only be described

as a metallic craft.

And all three were filmed near the Tolima volcano.

You have to ask yourself, "What is going on here?"

[Narrator] Could these three remarkable sightings

around the Tolima volcano

be evidence of extraterrestrial activity?

Ancient astronaut theorists suggest clues may be found

by examining the volcano's mysterious history.

[Pamela Smith] The Tolima people of Colombia hold

their volcanic mountain of the same name

in great reverence

because, in their telling,

it is the place where the life of Earth meets

the sky deities, the life of the above land.

The legends tell us that this was a place

where humankind could meet and mingle

with the so-called gods.

And what's interesting to me is that

very curious ancient artifacts were found at Tolima.

[Narrator] In the late 19th century,

tomb robbers exploring the base of Nevado del Tolima

stumbled upon a gravesite that dated back 1,500 years.

Among the funerary objects found there were hundreds

of small two-to-three-inch-long gold figurines.

[Tsoukalos] According to archaeologists,

in the ancient culture of the Tolima,

they specialized in creating thousands of little gold objects

that they would put in the tombs

of the deceased,

essentially, to pay off the journey

from the land of the living to the land of the dead.

They were all in the shape of fish, birds, frogs,

anything you can imagine.

But 17 look like modern-day planes.

We can clearly see that the wings are attached

at the bottom of the fuselage,

and in the back of the fuselage, you actually have stabilizers.

This is not anything that exists in nature.

[Narrator] Could it be that the ancient gold artifacts

found at the base of Nevado del Tolima

are really depictions of flying vehicles?

[Childress] The idea that people could actually envision

modern airplanes at that time,

just as a-a speculation,

seems pretty, uh, fantastic, really.

And you would think that they are really making

these gold airplanes

after something they had genuinely seen.

[Tsoukalos] The ancient astronaut theory suggests

the reason why they were commemorating these things

is because they witnessed craft

flying in and flying out of these volcanoes.

And you have to wonder if maybe our ancestors

were seeing the same things we're seeing today.

For many of us,

the possibility of actually seeing a UFO

is a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime event,

so it's really exciting to think that there are places

around the world where people frequently witness

unidentified anomalous phenomena.

From vast stretches of land like the 37th parallel

and mysterious orbs over Great Britain

to military encounters and civilian sightings,

perhaps one day,

we will solve the mystery of just who

or what is appearing

at these UFO hot spots.
