As an EMS team member, you learn fast

that you can't do it all alone.

When a life is on the line,

you rely on the ones who are ready to step in

when it matters most.

My family and I may not always see eye to eye,

but in the end there's nothing we won't do

to lift each other up.

He's gonna be okay.

Whatever happens, we'll survive, just like we always do.

You two sound like you're in the middle of a soap opera.

Hey, you, good morning!

- Chicken? - Chicken's good.

Okay, well, Dani mentioned her mom's lactose sensitive,

so no dairy.

I could never do that.

Oh, I'll second that.

The Johnson and the Rodriguez families

dropped some stuff off this morning

that I think Dani and her family are gonna love.

Thank you all so much.

We know it's in times like these

that it's the little things that get hard to do.

So she'll be swapping shifts with her mom

sleeping at the hospital.

So nourishing meals just are not happening

for them right now.

Well, trust me, a special meal in the hospital

goes a long way.

You know what? I'll cook something.

Sweet.

Special delivery.

Oh, I didn't order food.

But did you order Griffin?

- Hi! - Hey.

- Um, thank you. - I know you like salad, but-

No, no, thank you so much for, for everything with my dad.

You saved his life.

Yeah, my training just kicked in and I...

He was talking about you, you know?

What?

Before he, you know, he was telling your mom,

he was proud of you for sticking it out at the station

and I dunno, I heard your name, I couldn't help but listen.

So, how's he doing?

He's great. Yeah. Resting.

He's only up a few hours a day

and I know it's nice for him to have someone to wake up to,

so I've been spending lots of time in here.

Good.

Do you know what he gets to go home?

Uh, could be days, could be a week, maybe two.

Anyway, it's, it's nice to have a small distraction.

- Yeah. - You hungry?

Hi.

This wasn't the plan, I swear.

I, I'm sorry, Dani,

I thought you were still at the hospital.

I set that up for Andy and Ashley,

they were supposed to come in next.

I'm sorry.

At least it's whipped cream this time.

It taste much better than shaving cream.

So you're back?

Yeah.

Yeah, I'm doing good and, and ready to work

like my job depends on it because, as you know.

I'm so glad to hear your dad's doing okay. Really.

Yeah. Yeah, he is, and it's thanks to you.

I'm not cleaning up this time, Marcos.

Why do your pranks always involve making a mess?

Man, do you think we could do that over

with the whipped cream in Dani's face?

I forgot to hit record.

Oh, are we, are we recording pranks now?

Yes. Yes we are.

How do you like your coffee, Dani?

Wait till you hear this.

I'm not just talking coffee, I'm talking hot chocolate,

cappuccinos, lattes, affogatos, espressos

and all the foam you can dream of-

We get it. Long story short,

there's this social media competition

for some fancy coffee maker.

- Oh. - Uh, Liz,

the cafe couture is not just a coffee machine, okay?

It's a luxury experience.

Basically to win you have to post a prank

that gets the most votes.

I'm just in it for a cup of joe

that doesn't look like dirty sink water.

Mm.

Hey, um, Dani, I'm,

I'm sorry I haven't asked you about your dad yet.

I mean, I probably should have,

just I didn't know how you were feeling about everything

and, I mean, you came back to work

less than a week after it happened.

It's just been so soon that I thought that maybe-

Thought I needed a normal day?

Yeah. Yeah.

Thanks.

Might as well clean the trucks while we're at it.

- Oh, good idea. - Yeah.

Okay.

How about a speed drill for old times' sake?

But there's one challenge. - Hmm?

I got a secret stash of snacks in here.

You gotta find it while holding onto your old time

from the rookie shifts.

Okay, well this is your mess.
