Original subtitles

A forest in spring, is like a mother's womb,

in which thousands of little hearts beat.

No matter how small, life is the greatest of mysteries.

And to get to the heart of the secret, you sometimes have to listen carefully.

That little beating heart is Bambi's.

The birth of a little prince is a magical event,

especially for a curious crow.

On the first morning of his life, Bambi can already walk.

That's instinct, it comes from his ancestors,

Like a little voice that will accompany him in the face of all dangers.

And there will be plenty!

But in the early days, nothing can replace a mother's care.

Bambi and his family are the greatest animals in the whole forest.

And Bambi's little inner voice tells him that danger sometimes comes

from someone smaller than himself.

Bambi has so much to learn.

Rain mixes nature's scents.

A firework of scents that makes your sense of smell sparkle.

One day, just by the smell of it, Bambi will be able to sense the danger.

For the time being, he can count on his mother's protection

and on a guardian angel ready to get wet for him.

Under the green roof, Bambi is out of sight.

The white dots on its back mimic sun spots.

A real camouflage.

In the meadow, there's nothing to protect them...

Humans are the danger.

And in the sun-gilded grass, they could spot them!

Bambi must never forget that humans live beside the forest.

It's worth taking a few risks when wandering through the flowers.

Freedom gives you wings.

Eagles rarely venture into the forest.

Bambi's little inner voice whispers to him to hide,

his instinct protects him.

Bambi discovers fear.

But fear sometimes saves your life.

If his mother sometimes disappears,

it's because there's a lot Bambi needs to understand by himself.

It's the beginning of independence.

Bambi is part of a large family

and he'll have to find his place among his own kind.

He, too, will one day have large antlers.

Growing up means feeding yourself.

Open your eyes and taste everything!

And above all, to look at your mother.

That's what learning is all about!

Bambi discovers others and their differences.

Diversity is what makes the world beautiful.

Nobody's the same. And being curious isn't such a bad thing.

Except maybe for a slightly clingy raccoon.

After a few weeks together, Bambi is old enough to return to the group.

And with a bit of luck, meet someone new.

Sometimes,

the simple fact of looking alike ignites a spark.

When two little hearts get excited, tenderness turns into adventure.

And from adventure to recklessness, the line is quickly crossed.

Human shadows loom over Bambi's happiness.

They can appear at any moment in the forest.

But fortunately, someone is watching.

Summer is well underway, a ball of fire is shining above their heads

and the shade would be some kind of paradise

if the insects would leave them alone.

The days go by,

and while the carefree spirit of summer brings joy to everyone's hearts,

Bambi has to keep his guard up!

But sometimes he dares to stray away from his mother.

Under a mother's protective gaze, even the whims of the sky become a game.

Nothing is sweeter than blossoming ties.

Some nights are just magical.

The little fairies are waking up.

And now the fireflies think they're stars falling from the sky.

Like an owl's eyes in the night,

a caring eye accompanies Bambi.

In a small corner of the memory hide the bad memories.

Sharing each other's life experiences, even the worst ones,

is a good way to avoid the traps set by humans.

The wolf can be frightening.

Yet it is the ancestor of dogs.

Like a big prehistoric doggie!

And then... like all forest animals,

he eats what he likes.

His meal is just a little more agitated.

Ever since he was born, Bambi has been reassured by his father's presence.

When you're small, it's important to feel secure in order to gain self-confidence.

And Bambi will need all the confidence he can get

to become King of the Forest.

Bambi is now six months old.

Time has erased the stains from the fawns' coats.

A rumbling makes the whole forest vibrate. It's the deer's bellow.

For the first time,

Bambi discovers that males have an instinct to fight each other.

His father and other males compete for the favors of a doe.

When he grows big and strong with antlers on his head, he'll have to fight too.

As he grows, Bambi changes.

And with him, the forest.

Even in the rain, autumn ignites the colors.

And Bambi's heart!

But Bambi will discover that the season of love comes to an end one day.

There's a time for everything.

Feeling the other person's distress, powerless to do anything about it...

When your inner voice is silent, is it because you don't know what to do?

Bambi's sense of smell has become very powerful.

Some smells are like ominous portents.

A menacing presence has burst into the forest.

Bambi's mother knows about this threat.

For Bambi, coping with his mother's absence is a struggle.

Sadness is coldness on the inside.

And he doesn't know yet that it's forever.

His mother's lessons remain in his memory and are a life force for Bambi.

And fortunately, he's not alone.

There are secret places in nature that only a father's wisdom can reveal.

Here magical remedies grow,

plants that heal even the deepest wounds.

The plants make his head spin but they heal Bambi quickly.

After a deer's antlers fall off,

there's the happy promise that they'll grow back even bigger the following year.

There's nothing to stop the wild boars having fun.

When there are two of you, it all seems lighter.

Bambi forgets that the tiniest thing could separate them.

All it takes is one unexpected intruder to scare Bambi's accomplice away.

Bambi has plenty of strength within him.

Alone again, his little voice tells him not to lose hope.

Life can be full of pitfalls.

Every challenge we overcome makes us grow...

So much has happened to Bambi in just one year in the woods!

For deers and hinds, there are no borders.

They come and go as they please.

Guided by his instincts, more sure of himself,

Bambi has only one idea in mind:

find again the one he loves.

And Bambi searches. Searches again.

Maybe comes closer?

Humans are strange. What a strange idea to lock up animals.

To be free, to be together, and swim in happiness.

Returning to your land and your people. There's nothing sweeter,

except maybe love at first sight!

Two carefree years spent together.

When time passes peacefully,

the little voices that warn of dangers quieten down.

Time has brought Bambi to a decision, for his apprenticeship is not over.

You have to leave with your father, only to come back.

Two more years have passed. Bambi is four years old.

Now, it's time for him to become King of the Forest.

Now it's his turn to look after his little one.

The story of Bambi can begin again.

The one of the little Prince of the forest.
