It's just a rocket ship, Jay.

But this is a real rocket ship.

The biggest, coolest, spaciest rocket ship ever.

And it's gonna fly right over us.

Better hurry.

The rocket ship's gonna blast off in T-minus...

Oh. Right now!

[thunder booms]

Rain?

Oh, no!

Rocket ships don't fly in the rain.

Uh oh.

The forecast says sudden showers.

Guess we're not gonna see the rocket ship today.

Sorry, baby.

But it was gonna be the rocket ship's

first launch ever.

This is the worst.

Thanks a lot, rain.

Maybe we can find something else to do inside.

Ask Mr. Gurley!

Hey, Mr. Gurley.

We were supposed to watch the rocket ship

launch outside, but we can't 'cause it's raining,

and now we don't know what to do.

Rainy days aren't so bad.

After all, rainy days are when I make my paper airplanes.

[Phoebe gasps]

Whoa!

How about I show you both something spectacular?

[Jay gasps]

A long time ago, when I was young,

just like you,

I made this special paper airplane

that flew 20 feet!

No one in the building has ever made one fly farther.

That means I set the Tobsy Tower's record.

What?

You made your own airplane?

Yep.

You see, sometimes you have to make your own fun,

especially on rainy days.

Longest paper airplane flight in Tobsy Tower's history.

That's me.

20 feet.

Whoa! 20 feet?

That's a lot.

How many feet did you have, Mr. Gurley?

I only have one... two.

[chuckles]

I don't mean the kind of feet in your shoes.

I mean the kind of feet you use to measure how far away

one thing is from another.

Oh!

I measure my crayons with Grandma's ruler all the time.

Grandma, can I borrow your ruler?

Sure thing, sugar.

Hmm.

This says 12.

Is this 12 feet?

That's 12 inches.

And 12 inches equal one foot.

So, that ruler is one foot long.

Just one?

You said your plane went 20 feet.

That's a lot of feet!

And we only have one ruler.

We also have this.

Ta-da!

It's the old tape measure I used to see how far

my plane went.

It measures in inches and feet.

I'll show you.

This line here shows us how long one foot is.

This says one.

So, this line is one foot?

That's right.

So, this is one foot,

and this is another foot,

and this is another foot?

Whoa!

That's, like...

three whole rulers.

[chuckles]

Spot on, my boy.

Those numbers count the total number of feet.

One foot, and another foot,

and another foot, is three!

Three feet.

That's right.

And the numbers keep counting up from there.

So if we want to see how long 20 feet is,

we just need to stretch this out until we see

the number 20 on the tape.

Stay right there, Jay.

[tape measure clicking]

And stop.

See this here?

20 feet.

That means it's 20 feet from the stairs

to this purple couch.

Whoa!

That's a really long flight.

Indeed it is.

It took a lot of tries to get my paper airplane

to fly all 20 feet, but it was worth it.

Now I get to have my name in the showcase

for everyone to see.

Jay, what if we made our own paper airplane?

One that we could fly even more feet than Mr. Gurley's?

Then maybe they'll put our names in the case.

Yeah!

It would be awesome to make a flying paper rocket ship.

Mr. Gurley, will you help us?

Absolutely.

If anyone is going to beat my record,

I want it to be you two giggle sprouts.

Let's get ready for blast off.

[both giggle]

Every good rocket ship needs big, strong wings.

A strong wing gives extra zing.

Can you help me press down the creases?

This rocket ship looks ready to launch.

Ready to beat that record, Jay?

[Jay imitates radio static]

We're ready for launch.

[Phoebe giggles]

Blast off!

[whooshes]

That doesn't look very far.

Let's measure how many feet it flew.

[tape measure clicking]

The tape measure says four.

That means our rocket ship flew four feet.

Stellar job, Phoebe!

Let's mark the spot where it landed,

so we remember how far it went this time.

Okay.

I'll write a four for four feet.

So, your airplane flew 20 feet

and our rocket ship flew four feet.

Is that close?

Well, remember, my plane made it to the purple couch.

And ours didn't.

So, that means four is less than 20.

We need the rocket ship to fly further.

That's right.

Our rocket ship needs to fly a bit farther

to beat the record.

The good news is, now we get to try again.

And who knows what amazing things can happen

if we try again.

Uh...

this rocket ship is too smushed to fly.

I think we're gonna need a new one.

Wow!

This rocket ship looks even better than the last one.

This is the nose, and the smoother the nose,

the farther it goes.

I hope this one beats the record.

Blast off!

[whooshing]

[Jay] Heh. Whoopsie!

Sorry, Grandma.

[tape measure clicking]

Excuse me, Grandma.

Of course, sugar.

But I was just getting to the good part.

That's... ten feet, Jay.

And we still didn't hit the purple couch.

So, ten is less than 20.

Excuse me, Miss Annie.

We just need to mark where this little beauty landed.

Ten feet.

Mm-hmm.

[sighs]

We still didn't beat the record.

Being an astronaut is hard.

You know, when the engineers who build rocket ships

run into problems,

they keep trying and trying until they figure it out.

Yeah!

We'll get there, Astronaut Jay.

We're closer to the couch now than we were before.

Okay, let's try again.

Uh oh.

Hello.

[whooshing]

Ooh! That's a fast one.

12 feet.

13 feet.

14 feet.

Not far enough.

[sighs]

Okay.

We tried every kind of rocket ship we could think of.

This one has gotta work.

We only have one more piece of paper after this.

[gulps]

I've never seen a flight like that.

Does this mean we beat the record?

[tape measure clicking]

And it's past the purple couch.

32 is more than 20.

Which means...

you two have set a new record!

[in unison] All right, we did it!

Ooh, yeah.

A rocket ship like that needs its own spot

where everyone can see it.

And I know just the place.

[Phoebe giggles]

Now that we're safe from all the alligators,

our castle just needs one last touch.

A flag at the very top.

I wrote the first letters of all our names

so everybody will know this is our castle.

M for Manny, P for Phoebe.

That's right.

Phoebe with a P.

And a J for my man Jay.

Whoa!

Cool castle.

Hey, Manny. Your dad just texted.

He needs you home for chore time.

What's a pillow fort?

It's like a special room inside your room.

[in unison] Wow!

That sounds fantabulous!

I could show you how to make one.

I'm the king of pillow forts in Tower One.

Can you just stay and show us?

I gotta go do my chores.

I'll draw one for you real quick.

So, to make a pillow fort, you gotta build three parts.

First, there's a floor made of blankets.

Then you need walls made out of pillows.

And finally a ceiling made with bed sheets on top.

Here's a diagram of my fort.

Okay, I gotta go.

I'll show you how to make it when I get back.

Jay, we have to build the pillow fort.

But Manny's gonna come back and show us how to make it.

build this pillow fort.

Let's just try to make it look like the pictures.

There's a blanket with a number one,

some pillows with a number two,

and a sheet with a number three.

We got that stuff.

Blankets? Check.

Pillows? Check.

And one clean sheet.

The pillows in Manny's diagram look bigger

than our bed pillows.

Hmm.

Where can we get bigger pillows?

Woohoo!

I know where we can get bigger pillows.

for our fort?

Okay, I'll put these pillows all around

to block the dragons.

Our pillow fort does not look like the one

in Manny's diagram.

Maybe it will look better if we get inside.

I can't see anything in here!

And this floor's so hard, and...

we're supposed to be comfy.

[together] It's falling!

Our pillow fort didn't even stand up.

How are we supposed to play if we can't even

get it to stay up?

Argh!

It's not working.

This isn't a cool fort.

It's a mess!

What if Manny doesn't wanna come play with us anymore?

We tried really hard and it didn't work.

We looked at it to figure out what we needed

to build the fort.

just what you need to build.

We have all the right parts,

'cause we found all the things in the picture diagram.

I bet we're supposed to put those parts together in order.

Like the numbers.

The blanket has a number one,

so it has to go on the bottom.

No wonder our fort wasn't comfy.

It didn't have a soft blanket for the floor.

We can do that.

Ooh!

Nice and soft.

What's next?

Pillows are number two.

To make strong walls.

Now for the next step.

The sheet is number three.

The last part.

It goes on top of the pillows.

That makes a lot of sense.

Our fort looks a lot more like Manny's diagram this time.

Let's test it.

It is really cool.

But I bet it could be even bigger.

We made a good pillow fort that looks like a Manny fort,

but maybe we can make it look like a Phoebe and Jay fort.

Hmm.

I guess we can add what we like to the fort now,

and maybe Manny will be super duper impressed.

Let's do it!

I dunno.

[game announcer] It's the last chance

for the Lemon Sox.

They have to score, like, right now

if they wannna win.
