And I picked Sing-y Dance Rope.

I kinda wanna play that.

Maybe we did make her sad.

Yesterday when it was my day to pick the game,

I wanted to play Astronauts.

If Phoebe told me no,

that would've made me sad.

Maybe I should say sorry.

We can tell her we do wanna play

Sing-y Dance Rope.

Let's go find her.

Maybe she's at the Tobsy statue.

She likes the pretty wallpaper by the elevators.

We thought Phoebe was in here.

We gotta go find her.

She's gotta be here at the lobby desk.

She loves hanging out with Grandma.

[Lupe giggles]

Grandma Annie went somewhere.

But that's weird,

she never leaves her sweet tea behind.

And Phoebe's not here either!

I saw Phoebe a few minutes ago.

We've been looking everywhere for her.

We kinda hurt her feelings.

We wanna find her and say sorry.

I'm glad you wanna say you're sorry.

Everybody makes mistakes.

But it's how you make it better that matters.

You know where Phoebe went, Mr. Yarber?

I remember she came in and talked to your grandma.

Then the two of them went to find a place where

Phoebe could calm herself down and feel better.

Oh.

That's why there was still sweet tea on Grandma's desk.

Maybe she left it behind for something really important,

like Phoebe.

But if you don't know where they went,

how are we gonna find Phoebe?

You could use the building's wayfinding signs to find her.

What's a wayfinding sign?

Wayfinding signs can have pictures and arrows,

sometimes even words, that show you how to find

things or places.

See?

This picture is of an envelope.

What place do you think that is?

Envelope.

That's mail.

So, maybe... mailroom.

It's over there where the arrow on the sign

is pointing.

Exactly.

These signs are all over.

Maybe you can use them to figure out where

Phoebe might've gone.

How?

Well...

if Phoebe wanted to feel better,

she probably wouldn't go to the mail room, right?

Yeah.

There's nothing in a mail room that would cheer her up.

Maybe she went somewhere she could sing or dance

or eat a snack.

That always makes you feel better.

[chuckles] That's right.

Good luck, you two.

Come on, Lupe.

Let's use the wayfinding signs to find Phoebe.

Maybe one of these signs will help us figure out

where Phoebe is.

[Lupe] There's a picture of a car.

[Jay] Hmm. Cars.

Maybe that's the parking lot.

I bet that's what this wayfinding sign

is pointing to.

[Lupe] A basketball?

Oh, the basketball court outside.

Yep.

But cars and basketball don't cheer Phoebe up.

Hmm.

That looks like a macaroni noodle.

Phoebe loves mac and cheese.

Maybe she went to the macaroni room!

[gasps] We have a macaroni room?

[gasps] Cool!

The arrow is pointing this way.

Let's go to the yumminess!

What are those things?

You giggle sprouts wanna make a phone call?

No, thanks, Mr. Gurley.

We're trying to find macaroni.

Like on the sign.

Tickety pickety!

That picture does look a little like macaroni.

But do you know what it really is?

It's a picture of a phone receiver.

A phone?

But that's too big.

Hola. Hello? Bueno.

[dial tone]

Well, this is what phones looked like

before cell phones.

You talked into them, uh, like this.

Greetings and salutations.

Ahoy-hoy!

How did you carry this?

You'd need the biggest pocket ever!

We didn't carry them.

We had to come here to use them.

That's why we needed the signs,

so we could find the telephones.

[chuckles]

That's so weird.

This sign doesn't look like a phone.

I'mma fix it.

Don't want Phoebe coming here looking for mac and cheese

and getting an old phone.

She'd be disappointed.

Now Phoebe won't get confused.

[gasps] That's it!

That girl is jumping rope like Phoebe.

Phoebe wanted to play Sing-y Dance Rope,

so we gotta go to the place where Phoebe could do that.

Where?

We already looked in so many places,

but no Phoebe.

I know we can find her if we keep looking.

We just gotta use the wayfinding signs,

like Dad said.

There's a picture of a bike and someone is swimming.

A bike?

Oh!

The bike racks are over there.

But we don't have a bike.

And this picture of someone swimming...

For the pool!

Yeah.

That's over there too.

But you can't swim and sing at the same time.

Phoebe wanted to play Sing-y Dance Rope.

[Lupe] Hmm.

This one has a bunch of people on it.

Bunch of people.

[gasps] A party room!

That's the perfect place for Sing-y Dance Rope.

Phoebe's gotta be in there!

There's the party room sign.

We're coming. Phoebe!

[toilet flushes]

this isn't a party room.

It's a restroom.

[both laugh]

I don't want anybody to think the restroom is a party room.

[grunts with effort]

That's better.

Now, let's find some more wayfinding signs to help us.

Hmm.

I've seen this before.

It's the hair thingy Phoebe was wearing this morning.

They always fly out of her hair when

she's moving too fast.

Phoebe must've been right here.

Wow, you really know Phoebe.

We're twins!

We know everything about each other

'cause we're always together.

[sighs]

And I don't wanna be apart anymore.

If we try one more time, I know we can find Phoebe.

Huh.

I never noticed that sign before.

Oh, that picture kind of looks like a window,

but with colors.

[gasps]

I know a place that has a window just like that.

And when Phoebe sings in there,

it sounds really good.

I know where Phoebe is!

She's in the Rainbow Room.

This way.

-Wow! -[Jay gasps]

It's beautiful.

Qu� bonita.

[groans]

But Phoebe's not here.

We followed all the wayfinding signs,

but still didn't find her.

I just miss my sis.

I wanna give her a hug

and play her game before it gets dark.

[sighs]

And I wanna say sorry.

Phoebe!

Ooh, I'm glad to see y'all.

I've been playing Sing-y Dance Rope

for too long.

It's fun...

but now I wanna play Sit-y Down Chair.

[kids laugh]

I'm sorry that we didn't wanna play

Sing-y Dance Rope before.

Tt was your turn to pick, and I shoulda listened.

But how'd you find us?

Dad showed us these cool signs that help you find places.

So, me and Lupe went places you would go,

and we found you!

Grandma Annie, it's beautiful.

This is Brisco,

and this is Elliyae

and they're gonna play box ball.

I made a star rainbow!

This is looking so beautiful.

This is one magical box.

Oh!

Let's go play a game with this box.

Yeah!

It's time to play box ball.

Ellyae is the red team because she has a red ball.

And Brisco is the blue team because he has a blue ball.

Here's the rules.

You get a ball in the box,

you get a point,

you flip the score.

Whoever bounces their ball into the box three times wins.

[in unison] Let's play box ball!

The blue ball went in.

So, now we change the score on the blue side.

Great job, Brisco!

The red ball went in,

so, we changed the score on the red side.

It's one to one.

Great job, Ellyae.

Ahh, hit the rim!

[Ellyae yells]

The red ball went in.

Flip the red side.

Now it's two to one!

The blue ball went in.

Flip the blue side.

Now it's two to two.

That means it's a tie!

[buzzer sound] -Almost.

Ahh, so close.

This is exciting.

Who's gonna win?

[buzzer sound]

What?

They both got three points.

They both win!

Everybody wins!

That means we need to dance.

[whistle blows]

We did it!

[Phoebe and Jay laugh]

You got the next one, Dad.

[laughs]

Next, you should try with your eyes closed.

Okay, here I go.

Woohoo! You made it!

[in unison] Yarber!

[both laugh]

He finally made a shot.

Why'd you do that, Grandma?

Your daddy tossed a basketball and made it

go through the hoop.

We call that making a shot, or making a basket.

And when he does that, it also means

he scored a point.

This is a scoreboard.

It helps us keep track of every point scored.

We started at zero, 'cause your dad didn't

make any baskets.

When he scored his first point,

I changed his score from zero to one.

Now the scoreboard shows that he made one basket.

If he makes more baskets, we flip to the next number

to keep counting his score.

[grunting with effort]

[swish sound]

Woohoo!

Look, I made another one, Ma!

Count it!

Your daddy's score is on this side.

Red, like his clothes.

So...

what do you think we do now?

Hmm.

Daddy made another basket,

so, he scored another point.

So, we should flip to the next number... two!

Good job, baby.

Now the scoreboard shows everybody watching the game

what the score is.

So, everybody watching the game looks at

the scoreboard?

Exactly.

And we don't just use a scoreboard in basketball.

It's used in lots of other games too.

[swish]

Go, Dad!

Daddy scored another point.

So, we go from two to three points.

Uh-huh.

Hopefully your daddy can keep it going for today's

big Tobsy Shotsy game against cousin Craig.

The Tobsy whatsy?

It's a game where your dad and cousin Craig

try to make special trick shots.

[chuckles]

They try to make baskets in a fun way.

They've been playing since I moved here,

and Craig always wins.

And Daddy didn't win even once?

Not even once.

You see, three trick baskets equals three points

on the scoreboard,

and Craig is always the first to score

the three trick shots, so he always wins.

[horn blows]

Oh! Mr. Gurley's here.

Should we go sit with him, Grandma?

[whistle tweets]

Ooh... can't, sugar.

I'm the referee.

I gotta make sure it's a fair game.

Huh!

[groans] Missed again.

You got this, Dad.

We'll keep practicing.

[loud music plays]

Uhn. Uhn. Uhn.

Hey!

Introducing...

the all-time greatest, one and only,

every game champ of Tobsy Shotsy.

[laughs]

Wow!

He has a lot of medals.

Yup.

One for every game he's won.

I make 'em out of cardboard and tin foil,

but they're still pretty impressive.

And I'm winning it again this year.

Huh!

Ho! [laughs]

Ooh! I didn't even warm up.

Ooh!

Cousin Craig, can I be your coach?

We can win and share the super shiny medal.

Of course.

We're a good team.

I know we can win Tobsy Shotsy together.

The rules say you can have a list, but...

you can also make up the shots as you go.

While I referee the game,

And the blue number is Craig's.

I have an idea to help us remember.

And with the blue, I'll write Cuz.

because the official game has started.

Phoebe, you can be in charge of Craig's score.

Jay, you'll be in charge of your daddy's score.

[in unison] Got it! Yes, ma'am.

And remember, every time they make a shot,

you add a point to their score.

And the first player to get three points wins.

Okay, Coach Phoebe.

I need you to pick my first trick shot.

Hmm.

That's a lot of words, but I can figure 'em out.

That was hoptastic.

Cousin Craig made another shot,

so his score goes from one to two.

We gotta beat the Hip Skip Frog Hop, Dad.

the Sleepy Scorer!

You pretend to sleep on the court.

[snoring]

Then you wake up

and shoot sitting down!

[groans]

[snoring]

[swish]

That's how you do it, Dad.

Wow.

Okay.

Pete's got some moves.

What's the score now?

Dad made his shot,

so, his score goes from one to two.

It's a tie, Grandma!

They both have two points.

The first person with three points wins.

So, you know what that means.

Whoever scores the next point wins the game!

[Craig laughs]

Next shot wins, and I'm gonna make it.

Coach Phoebe.

What's our grand finale shot gonna be?

Hmm.

I see...

What's that shot?

Ooh, that is a very, very special trick shot.

It's the No-Look- Behind-the-Back-

One-Hand-Fan- Spin-Around-Jumper.

[laughs]

Hey.

Better start polishing that medal, Phoebe.

It's basically ours.

[laughs]

[exhales]

[grunts with effort]

It's going in.

It's going in!

[gasp]

[Craig yells in shock]

Aww.

Cousin Craig missed.

This time, Cousin Craig didn't make a shot.

So, his score doesn't go up.

It stays the same.

Now it's Dad's turn to shoot,

and if he makes it, we win.

I got an idea.

The Tobsy Surprise.

First, you throw the ball away from the hoop

towards the playground.

Then it bounces off the jungle gym

and rolls across the monkey bars.

Then it swings off a swing

and goes right through the hoop!

[laughs]

That's, uh... an incredible idea, Jay,

but I'm not sure if I can make it.

But, Dad, Yarbers never say never.

[chuckles]

You're right, son.

Thanks for the pep talk.

You're a pretty great coach, you know that?

Thanks, Dad.

We're a great team.

Now go make that shot.

[takes a deep breath]
